“We will all laugh at guilded butterflies,” is a line of Shakespeare tattoed in ink, and made famous by Megan Fox.
Celebrities know how to use Shakespeare ink, to their advantage. On the matter of the same topic, “to thy own self be true” is perhaps Shakespeare’s most famous line employed by unabashed hedonists, in my experience of observing who quotes it. You know, always the person hogging the reefer, reaching for the third slice of cake, getting everyone else to do their gossip so they look like a model citizen with a calm smile, and drinking every drop of good New Zealand and Californian wine in the cupboards… that kind of person would say this. You know what I mean.
Here’s Pink (Alecia Moore) on the matter a few years back to The Guardian UK, when she used in an interview to strengthen her U.K fan appeal, with U.K culture that has a timeless and proven universal appeal. Borrowing from Shakespeare, she says:
“My father always said: ‘To thine own self be true.’ You might not have many friends that way, but you’ll never have enemies because everyone will always know where you’re coming from.”
Love that sentiment. Truth cuts. Why be popular, if there’s no truth in one’s mix, so Alecia’s all good. And in an age of obsession and excess–when most of us can’t afford yester-years tastes like we’d like to, the opposite is in fact true too.
Meaning, that this Shakespearean saying could be re-written to be, “to the collective of the third world who need us, or the homeless people right in front of us be true instead,” not to one’s self! Just a thought to add a bit of balance into Western countries “me me me” individualistic consumer tendencies in the world. Courage to be true to others.

With music sales as strong as Jason Mraz this year, he’s the Tarzan of music’s jungle. Jason Mraz‘s music single I’m Yours has been in Billboard’s top 100 the longest out of any artist this year.
Although Jason Mraz is an eco-friendly artist with radical theories like his toilet paper tips positing that ‘if the world all used less squares of toilet paper each day, more trees will be saved.’ A good point.
Congratulations to Jason Mraz for his music accomplishments this year. Mraz and The Black Eyed Peas along with Taylor Swift, are the top selling music artists this year. Mraz had a 71 week run on the top 100 charts, a record.
Ms Swift is also exceptional. She released her album Fearless in Nov 2008 and Swift’s album sold 3,789,000 units, as cited by Nielsen SoundScan. Fearless has sat for a total of 43 weeks on the Billboard 200. 11 weeks of these 43 were spent at No. 1, the most for any album released this decade.

Tom Tom Cruise turned up at the Beyonce concert, Monday in LA, with his son Connor and daughter Isabella. The star sent Beyonce fans into a frenzy and he graciously smiled and posed for obsessed fans in a blaze of flashing fan cameras.
Sitting 6 meters away from the VIP box Tom sat in, in the same row, I had a good view. The dude’s hair and skin is amazing! Cruise has boy bangs better than Zac Efron used to, whose just lopped his off. Tom has seriously amazing hair. And he’s defying the age factor in a super human-esque way.
Beyonce of course… was just out of this world… amazing. She’s the strongest female singer/ dancer performer combo the US has, and she’s black and she’s a diva. Just incredible! Her voice was a little husky tonight, but she still delivered all of the high notes. Cameron Diaz danced like a free spirited rocker to Queen Bee (love her) in a white singlet tee top and Jeans. Gweneth Paltrow rocked it in a black bra and singlet top too. She had daughter Apple with her (complete with air muffs on). Cammie got down to the mega mega more obscure black stuff, like she was black. Gwennie got down to Bee’s hit ‘Single Ladies.’ Loved that! Gwennie and Tom, left The Staples Center during the Halo finale. Cameron stayed on and clutched her chest, all throughout Beyonce’s very moving Michael Jackson tribute.
When you look up to a music icon, like Beyonce did as a child, and sought to emulate their music success, which she has done… what does it all mean, when you can be snuffed out so easily.
Beyonce’s tribute seemed to convey that. Cameron Diaz totally got that too. Both women are amazing and you had a sense that it’s a fine line being a celebrity and giving your all to the world to entertain, when you are just a fragile human butterfly also. Powerful! God is King ya’ll. At our best, we are all mere vessels, angels (messangers) of God. That’s what I saw tonight.
