THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – TUE 12.7.10
Transparency is like refined gold, it has to be earned, tested with trust. So, I like people who endeavor to display a transparent spirit as leaders who serve the best interests of all, hence this quote running on this blog: ”In my time as Prime Minister I have tried to push for greater transparency, and we are happy to have an independent body overseeing expenses and entitlements for MPs [politicians], says New Zealand’s leader from Wellywood/ Wellington,”John Key 3 News. Information is like water flow. It often doesn’t flow to the right people who need to have it. Knowledge equals power. Africa needs water. What do we do this knowledge?
Transparency is good in any sincere culture but discretion is a part of wisdom too: ‘Do not let the left hand know what the right hand is doing… Be as wise as a serpent and as harmless as a dove… A wise man conceals a matter.’
Often people who expect others to be transparent are not themselves–so good men and naturally transparent people–are forced to be wise and manage their own information about themselves, like a cultural taonga of New Zealand belonging to the collective people of Aotearoa New Zealand. Each nation is a knowledge farm of fruitful minds.
Here in America, today - Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has already worked out what her parents do and wants to follow in their footsteps already as a performer turning out a show. “Shi’Bouncy” couldn’t be happier with her baseball bat and military attire as mother Angelina Jolie, sister Zahara and Maddox go to Lee’s Art Store themselves in Manhattan, New York to shop before they imagine and create as artists. Too cute. This family is on the attack today from haters not in Jolie’s league, or, all of her children either. Love it. Maddox Jolie-Pitt has been a star longer than many people claiming to be celebs today. He was born this way. A star.
Jolie’s statement today could be–Our best art, is serving our children, to be informed by their worldview, creating their art. In any culture, isn’t that always the truth.

KRIS FA’AFOI WINS MANA ELECTION, LADY GARDINER COMES IN CLOSE SECOND
[Old footage - Kris Fa'afoi on National's support of Maori]
Exciting news from New Zealand – First time political campaigner Kris Fa’afoi of the Labour Party keeps the Mana Electorate seat, winning against the outstanding Hekia Parata (aka Lady Gardiner) in a snap bi-election, last night.
The Mana electorate is a part of Wellington (Wellywood) where The Hobbit films will be made. Kris Faafoi becomes the first ever Tokelauan Member of Parliament in New Zealand. Hekia Parata closed the gap for her party (National) by six thousand odd votes to that of just over a thousand. She did an outstanding job.
Clearly what New Zealand is indicating is that they value Polynesian leadership in the nation’s capitol. I like that.
Congratulations to both Kris Faafoi and the lovely Hekia Parata, a big star in Hollywood on this blog in recent weeks.
Both Kris and Hekia make any New Zealander proud to be a Kiwi. Well done to both candidates on victory. To read the full story, go here.
“Let’s party. We won,” said Kris as reported by The NZ Herald. ‘With those words Kris Fa’afoi launched himself into Parliament as the first New Zealand MP from Tokelau after winning the Mana byelection tonight, beating National candidate Hekia Parata by 46.4 per cent of the counted vote to 41.6 per cent.
The result was a 14 per cent swing to the National candidate since the 2008 general election.
Mr Faafoi, accompanied by wife Gina Fa’afoi-Rogers and 23-month-old son George, took the stage to rapturous applause, flanked by Labour leader Phil Goff and former MP for Mana Winnie Laban.’

KYLIE’S YELLOW “TAWA SCHOOL” TEE SHIRT
Authentic Kiwi girls don’t come much more fun than Kylie McKenzie.
Here’s girlfriend rocking an original “Tawa School” yellow tee, with two buds. How authentic and sweet is she, not forgetting her roots. I love it.
The occasion: Taika Cohen’s Boy movie, Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
Highlight: Question & Answer time with the director at the end of the film, Kylie said: “I just want to thank you for bringing Poi E the song, written by Patea Maori club to America. Back in the early eighties, who ever would have thought it would play at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, all those years ago. But you achieved that with this film.” The song was originally written to save families who had lost jobs from “freezing works” lay offs.
If you grew up bopping to this song, it was a very significant Hollywood momento.
Kylie is such a good Kiwi girl. She says all the right things, to add to a special Hollywood occasion. Oh yeah, and Kylie totally bawled her eyeballs off at a certain part. (Don’t want to spoil it, go see the film).
Thanks Kylie for a fun night. Lyn of Tawa (a comedic character based on a resident of Tawa, Wellington, New Zealand –picture Britney Spears in ten years time, going to get the cheetos in her ugg boots to get the ‘Lyn of Tawa picture and appeal’) would have been so proud of you rocking Tawa School this fine Hollywood Eve. Nice one.
Jeremy (on the L) was born in Whangarei City, went to high school with Kylie in Wellington and has been in Los Angeles for over 20 years. Kiwi’s of LA. The accent is still 100% there. Too funny. Alright, press play to see some Maoris turn on an MJ tribute from the closing credits of Boy.

CHARLIE ROSE, HEKIA PARATA, HILARY CLINTON, CHER AND CHRISTINA ARGUILERA
ONE FOR FUN: It’s unofficial but official, New Zealand wants to abduct Hillary Clinton, and not give her back to America. She looks so good and happy in New Zealand as an American alien who does not look at all alienated. Hills looks like she’s been in NZ forever and loves it. She’s like a Queen gliding across beautiful and serene Lake Wakatipu. Again, what a fine AmBassador of the American people.
Can’t Kiwis in Wellywood keep Hillary that way, all the time? Smiling. With her dignified Camelot-esque cheekbones all upturned like smiley hobbit chops, smitten with Kiwi glee from laughing all day on Middle Earth royal rugby soil of 3D magic Adventure Land. Yes! Let the Kiwis do that for Hills and America!
Brilliant suggestions aside, Here’s Mrs Clinton, with (Heck Yeah!) Hekia Parata. Don’t forget, to vote Hekia for Mana Electorate if you live in Mana for a fun politician. Look at Parata smile. How could you not vote her in! Beaming.
Here’s an image too of respected broadcaster Charlie Rose. Either of these ladies would make a great interview with Mr Rose. Here’s also the marketing Blitz in Hollywood California with Cher & Christina‘s new show biz, show jobs, Hollywood movie. Colorful!

WORLD POLITICS – HILLARY CLINTON, JOHN KEY AND MAORI NEWS IS SO HOT THESE DAYS
Te Karere, a Maori News show in New Zealand, are doing some of the best news in the entertainment biz lately. Here’s that story, everyone is talking about. This version in Te Reo Rangatira (The Language of Chiefs) of New Zealand.
The day Hilllary Clinton touched down in New Zealand, the story aired with a headline: The Most Powerful Women in the World Arrives in New Zealand. This prompted a politician to give a funny aside like the theatricality of a good Shakespeare play, (read that here).
In the top video clip, here’s Hillary Clinton and Prime Minister John Key as Mrs Clinton, gets an official powhiri (Maori welcome).
My favorite part of this footage, is where Hillary presses noses in greeting (it’s called the hongi) symbolizing the breath of life in your nose, mingling with the breath of life in your fellow sisters and brothers.
Equality of life is shared in the warm gesture of manaaki (or hospitality) when “hongi moments” happen, celebrating the meeting of our diverse and shared human presence–is what the intimate gesture symbolizes.
Maori are big on face-to-face talking, greetings, shared communication and presence. This cultural trait, all Kiwis seem to share. If you’re serious, you’ll turn up, is the view – Mrs Clinton did not disappoint. What a woman.
Her “hongi” moment, is exactly like James Cameron‘s Avatar film (photo below), which is where uber-talented James perhaps got the idea from. It’s so surreal to be Maori in Hollywood and watching Hilary (US Secretary of State) go Avatar-Maori with a good hongi session in Middle Earth, Wellington New Zealand. She’s one of US now. That’s also what the hongi means.
Watching it go down in this news clip, I forgot what country I was in. It took 36 hours for the ‘surreal feeling’ to calm down and to readjust back to American life. Lol! *jokes*
[By the way: To see how thorough, personable and informative Prime Minister Key is at updating his people, with transparent communication from his Beehive Parliamentary office, watch this video clip of one of the Kiwi King's regular updates. Good leadership, aye!].
Now, let’s get back to Hillary in the top clip, she’s looking good.
I can’t help but think of smart action partnerships, being the result of US-Kiwi political ties. Green thinking strategies are ahead. I see plenty of fun shared between two showcasing nations – both who love to entertain. A win-win combo.
Update: Fran O’Sullivan of the New Zeland Herald notes how Prime Minister, Mr Key, genuinely slipped up by introducing Mrs Clinton as “President Clinton,” by way of a genuine gaffe. It’s a compliment to Mr Obama that Hillary is so Presidential in her role as US Secretary of State.
Here’s an image of a Maori koru (symbolizing courage in change when facing challenges). The koru spiral (a metaphor of a fern frond’s growing spear tip – new life) is depicted on President Ronald Reagan‘s Hollywood Star, Hollywood Walk of Fame–to reciprocate the spirit of American-Kiwi and Maori-Hawaii relationships, cross-over art and culture, remaining strong between our entertaining nations of diverse and vibrant peoples in world politics.
Again, what a fine Ambassador for her President, Mr Obama and her First Lady, the lovely Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton is and was down in NZ. She rocked the gig.
Bring it on — in the 2010′s from New Zealand and America.

JACKSON ESTATE SYMBOLS via MISS JANET for HER BROTHER’S GIFTS TO ENTERTAIN
Alrighty, I am still obsessing on the fact that Michael Jackson as a brand to entertain, still rocks on, because his architecture as an entertaining King, has a life force of it’s own–with or without him.
That’s nuts. For a fragile dude, he sure built a solid kingdom of entertainment to model. Look at this stuff fly. It’s the real deal of a King. Dance is celebrated in these images of art and performance. Monarch butterflies and Doves feature too.
These are the symbols that Jackson’s children and Miss Janet Jackson – MJ’s sister, are presenting to his fans and the world.
There is no more successful American who proved they could cross over and appeal to India, like Michael Jackson. He “lived beyond color lines, geographical borders and boundaries” to paraphrase his sister’s Rhythm Nation lyrics.
He was cross-cultural, all people he saw as being the same. As a culture maker, and America’s King of Pop he saw his role as creating symbology for his fans, so that they could have a sense of global culture that resonated with them all.
Seriously though, as New Zealand is the nation that creates Jackson-Taylor Monarchs in 3D in the 2010′s of cinema mastery –we perhaps need a ‘royal cinematic meeting of entertainment minds’ with one of MJ’s kids or his nieces or nephews (we’re not fussy), to star in our Hobbit films, to cement that point. What a cool idea.
Let me play ‘stand in’ Hollywood casting agent on this one… We’ll go for Blanket Jackson thanks, as a Hobbit prince of Latino descent. :)Having seen both Michael and Janet Jackson both perform live in concert in Auckland at Mt Smart Stadium, New Zealand with friend, Trinity Brooke, I think Blanket would rock, following in the footsteps of the family, in a Hobbit film shot in 3D and Middle Earth. Imagine that! A real Jackson Hobbit too. Perfect!
Enjoy these images, from Blanket’s Estates’ one page ad in the LA Times today. A paper that services a city and associated cities of 20 million people.

SUSANA MARTINEZ, USA’s FIRST FEMALE HISPANIC-AMERICAN GOVENOR (NEW MEXICO) IS CONGRATULATED BY NEW ZEALAND POLITICIAN TAU HENARE VIA FACEBOOK
New Zealand politician Tau Henare “@politico tweets: AP: New Mexico Republican Susana Martinez elected nation’s first female Hispanic governor. hasta la victoria siempre. Well done.
Politics daily writes: “Republican Susana Martinez won the New Mexico governor’s race on Tuesday night, becoming the state’s first female governor and the first female Hispanic governor in U.S. history. She won by 10 points over Democratic rival Diane Denish, in a race pollsters assumed would be more hotly contested. The race was called about two hours after the polls closed, with 21 percent of the ballots counted. “
Key facts: 45% of the state’s population is Hispanic. Martinez has leniency toward illegal immigrants.
The victory is also a mixed-bag of challenges: With New Mexico facing a budget shortfall of $300 million, the winner faces tough times ahead. Sarah Palin had also given Martinez an endorsement via her facebook.
Politico also reports Martinez and colleagues of The Republican Party saying: “These women say that this time for change has come because the Obama administration and the Democrats in Congress have failed to get America’s economy moving again. The millions of female small business owners have felt the pinch especially hard. When the American people called out for fiscal responsibility, limited government and pro-growth policies, the Democrats instead delivered higher unemployment, more wasteful spending and a health reform bill that penalizes many small businesses for creating too many jobs.
For the first time, women in America fear that their children and grandchildren will not be better off than they are. Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress have added trillions to our national debt and burdened our small businesses with massive tax hikes. As you read this, every taxpayer in the United States is saddled with more than $43,000 in debt owed by the federal government.”

Tau Henare is a part Maori politician serving in John Key‘s National government in New Zealand. He is from an esteemed family of proven Maori leadership and is much valued by the New Zealand people, for keeping it real, to where the New Zealand public are at. Tau not only is a good gauge of pop culture, but he also creates it, when needed.
[To see who Susana Martinez's Doppelgänger (person who looks similar, doing similar things) could be on the world political stage, click here to meet Hekia Parata who is 17 days away, from winning her electorate seat of Mana in New Zealand. Fingers crossed, bubbly already chilling. I wonder when these two great ladies will eventually get to meet? What a moment that will be.]
[Photo caption: H2H: Hekia writes: "02 November. The official launch of my campaign for the Mana Electorate. Guests included many MPs, the Prime Minister, Hon Nathan Guy and Hon Tony Ryall."]
I really do think that Porirua City just may have found it’s Hispanic-American friendly and culturally vibrant, Sister State – Mexico City in the USA. Exciting times are ahead for the USA and New Zealand’s collaborative growth and sharing opportunities. Dare to think big in a new world. Heck yeah!

Commentary on what is the purpose of this rally?: Undoubtedly, the man of the moment award this weekend has got to go to both President Obama & also John Stewart. The latter held a rally where 200,000 plus attended uniting community (always a good move in an impersonal IT age), allowing people to scream and vent frustration (healthy for the lungs and emotional cathartic purposes) and get their picture taken at a ‘historic moment’ (an essential in a media age, & good for phone companies). I kid.
John’s closing in his own words in the clip above, sums it all up. He describes “a reflected Image of “US” through a fun house skewing mirror of the carnivalesque-producing media. He says it is a distorted. True, as it’s ratings driven Media/ Sales propelled based on sensationalism. Stuart being one of the best at the game, which is why he holds the microphone in this clip. 30-40 somethings of the U.S currently love Stuart’s news the best. What a guy!
In summation: Why when we go to war (a polarizing matter) and all politicians love raising debate through intersecting two totally opposing views–to give a feeling of ‘change’, ‘progress’, ‘leadership’–as it gets leaders noticed, when they referee such debate –do we then act surprised when people manipulated by these political and media antics –lose a sense of peace and sanity.
It’s a bit rich. But I’m glad everyone at the rally felt happy about attending that’s awesome. Everyone who attended the Halloween rally? last night in West Hollywood, got exactly the same benefits from it, without political orchestration or interference or a noble man of TV Talk’s verbage either –cementing his own ratings, for further down the track of his career.
Gosh — I need another cup of coffee. That was harsh! Good to see the American people unite though. Together Everyone Achieve More– talk?
Seriously though – we live in an age, where a President must partner with a trusted person who has a platform, because us people are so easily distracted by social media, how else does a leader get their nation’s attention. So Obama-Stuart are a good combo, to give messages to the people.
On that note lets go, New Zealand–LOUDER! :)
[This image Sir Richard Taylor, Oscar Winner, at that Hobbit Rally, t'other side of world--doing what Jon Stewart was doing too, uniting hearts and community--for a future project coming up. We know what Sir Richard's is (Hobbit films in 3D)--I wonder what Stuart's is that he's been assigned. All eyes on Jon as well as Hobbits then. Rallies. Gotta love 'em. They're US.
Here's Israeli artist Ofra Haza & some good MC 80's blokes: As critics say, they don't know what Stewart's rally was about, (it was a Seinfeld episode, done live en mass--a "buncha nothing"), this song can help shed light. The captions in the video clip are what Stewart's rally could be about, defining what to turn up the volume. Things like color, diversity, tolerance, peaceful ways forward, artistic authentic expression being shared equally and cross-culturally--while still getting loud for fun. I was 16 dancing to this song with friends. It's kinda jurassic. Still a goodie though. Lol! My point is--when at the place where all these sites can cross-over freely (in equal give and take opportunities) is where love can be found operating between people. That's still what the world wants. Can a government love us? Or be love teachers? Most governments in the world probably won't. But a good one can, will and does.
The governments that do, will rule the world. Love meets in the middle. Like Middle Ground or Middle Earth where two parties meet. Starting with loving the earth, is a good start. People-care goes hand-in-hand with this thinking of earth-care. There's work to be done. Traditionally family, Church, neighborhood, community--teach these values. We must never forget that. It's the government's to fix the economy and grow it, and then when that's done, philosophy about what love is, can be - should happen after that. There are more people qualified to define what love is, than many politicians spending 60 hours a week in a system that is often worn of love. A politicians desire to have love, tolerance, acceptance is an acknowlegement of the deficit in the political system they are married to, politically and spend all the time in. It's not necessarily what the people think, with different lives outside the political system. I think love ambassadors should be that, politicians politicians. Then cross-over, when all jobs are done. We have government, wanting more love--from the people (worship almost) in a way that needs to be checked. Fix the economy, than praise of the people follows. Alright, these are my thoughts. In the meantime, pump up the volume on "big hearted films" or "big hearted community-shared art" and stuff like that. Fun!

SINGER BROOKE FRASER IS AN ARTIST LOVED BY A THREE GENERATIONS AUDIENCE
Some members of my family went to a Brooke Fraser concert.
She appeals to 3 generations of fans. That’s serious cross-over appeal. I wonder when Brooke will test her appeal in cinema, as a part of her growth curve as an artist?
The girl’s too cool. Her songs feature all throughout this blog. Happy hunting and listening to her excellence as a songwriter. She’s a wordsmith extraordinaire.
Her humility is also Amazin. Her dad Bernie Fraser of Wellington (Wellywood) was a sporting great. He’s a Hollywood star today, on this blog.
Bernie was a little bit Rocky of the Rocky films–. He was a short guy, who could hold his own in a boxing fight on the sports field, long before Hollywood great Sylvester Stallone donned boxing gloves for the silver screen. Bernie was cool.
BTW: Boxing in rugby, is totally not an allowed part of the sport. Technically.

CHRISTCHURCH CITY’S NICKY WAGNER SUPPORTS MAORI GIRL, HEKIA PARATA IN REPPING MANA ELECTORATE
It’s so cool to be writing from Hollywood and seeing Nicky Wagner, the elected Member of Parliament for Christchurch City, supporting quality Maori girl, Hekia Parata‘s bid to lift Porirua City (in the Mana Electorate) to new heights of vision in Wellywood (Wellington).
Porirua is where some of the most culturally diverse entertainment is found in the Capitol City of New Zealand. Many beautiful Polynesian cultures of New Zealand are shared amongst cool Kiwi people in Porirua.
There’s more than just Hobbits in 3D going on in both Wellington and Christchurch, this week, as Nicky holding this sign is testament to. I am liking the key trend, I’m noticing from Hollywood of merging Kiwi leadership that’s fun and exciting. How can a Hollywood Maori lad, not go for that, in Hollywood. Too much fun in this Parata campaign.
I left for California from Christchurch City when Nicky was a relatively new MP. Of course, Christchurch and Christchurch people are going to rock it out – and support quality Maori women to lead. They’re the hot shiz.
A nice effort Nicky. Mauri ‘Ola from California. And… Let’s go Mana! And Heck Yeah! Hekia. Maori, Polynesian, Kiwi woman– UP!

TAU HENARE, A MAORI LEADER IN A WELLYWOOD SUIT, SUPPORTS HEKIA PARATA’S MANA ELECTORATE CAMPAIGN
Heck Yeah! Hekia – And let’s go Porirua City of Wellywood 2010′s.

This image, Tau’s Whanau of our Maori tribe of Ngapuhi: Sir James Henare: “Sir James Henare (191189), Northland leader, contributed his skills to a wide range of Māori and national organisations for over forty years. His most lasting contribution was perhaps his role, with Iritana Tawhiwhirangi and others, in helping found the kōhanga reo programme. Photograph by Stanley Polkinghorne Andrew, Earle Andrew Collection, National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa, Alexander Turnbull Library, Wellington (Ref: F-20163)” and Pic: Maori Language Week March – 1980, Wellington.
I have many fond memories (some scary too) of Sir James Henare, when I was a kid selected to perform the haka (Maori cultural war dance of New Zealand) at the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds of the region called Te Tai Tokerau (or Northland). We’d perform and Sir James and military sarge, Hector Busby, would both look at us all – then scream together. “Kia kaha boys. Louder.” Practices went a little like that – but when we were on – we were awesome and rocked the gig. Loved their leadership. Both well-humored blokes.
For supporting Hekia – a quality Maori sister, Tau Henare shows gentlemanly and supportive leadership… this week. Nice one Tau!

JOHN KEY SUBSTANTIATES WELLYWOOD AS HOBBITSVILLE 3D COUNTRY AND A SUPPORTIVE TWIN CITY OF HOLLYWOOD’S 3D CINEMA MASTERY AND GREEN FILM LOCATIONS
Prime Minister John Key (L) is no stranger at dealing with key leaders in key areas and markets of the world.
Quote of the Year: “It was commercial reality. We did the business.”–John Key on bending Hobbit Law, to Warner Brothers recognition, of Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor‘s skills and preference to film The Hobbit 3D film in New Zealand.
New Zealand’s number one man, John Key shines in Hollywood today, with the announcement that New Zealand will restructure law, and contribute monetarily to help facilitate Sir Peter Jackson directed, The Hobbit films 3D filming and production in Middle Earth. This sends a clear message to Bollywood, Hollywood, Europe and Asia, that New Zealand is 3D film production fit for the 2010′s and beyond. Middle Earth is also the home of James Cameron‘s Avatar‘s 3D effects, filming and creation.
Via New York Times, Mr Key says: “I’m delighted we have achieved this result. Making the two movies here will not only safeguard work for thousands of New Zealanders, but will also allow us to follow the success of the Lord of the Rings trilogy in once again promoting New Zealand on the world stage,” Mr. Key said. Video of speech can he found here.
“The industrial issues that have arisen in the past several weeks have highlighted a significant set of concerns for the way in which the international film industry operates here in New Zealand. We will be moving to ensure that New Zealand law in this area is settled to give film producers like Warner Brothers the confidence they need to produce their movies in New Zealand.
To structure the right deal to keep The Hobbit in New Zealand, new legislation is being introduced Thursday to clarify the difference between an employee and a contractor. The change in law would affect only the film industry.
Aotearoa/ New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Mr. Key said that the green paradise nation would offset $10 million of Warner’s marketing costs as the government agreed to a joint venture with the studio.
Mr Key also threw in an additional tax rebate for big budget films made in the country, making production companies now eligible for up to $7.5 million extra per picture–based on box office sales. New Zealand currently offers a 15 % rebate on money spent on major movies being produced within this paradise nation’s shores.
The UK Guardian reports that, had not Warner Bros and the New Zealand government come to an agreement, “Economists had said the loss of the production could cost the country’s film industry as much as $1.5bn and damage it in the long term.” Mr Keys also said via The Guardian, “”Making the movies here will not only safeguard work for thousands of New Zealanders.”" A much welcomed break for New Zealand’s economy struggling with one of the highest E.E.C debts, currently. The news was much welcomed.
Although it is not know if any Maori and Polynesian actors have been cast in the film in key roles to date, the Guardian reports: “The Office star Martin Freeman set to portray the title character, Bilbo Baggins – a homely Hobbit who in Tolkien’s tale is bamboozled into joining a thrilling adventure by a wizard named Gandalf. Richard Armitage, of BBC TV series Spooks, will play the role of Thorin Oakenshield, the leader of the dwarves.”
Good stuff. What a day for Hobbit lovers of Hobbitsville entertainment. And not a bad couple of days work either from Prime Minister Keys in his role of Minister of Tourism too. That deserves a beer or three in Hobbit fashion. Nice teamwork for the Prime Minister, Warner Bros, and our two Sirs who create Hobbits and a film industry working for and in tandem while reflecting back to Hollywood, from the other side of the world in New Zealand. Teamwork and mastery of a win-win relationship. Super heroes are being made in New Zealand in cinema texts and 3D cinema –for the world. Let’s go China and 3D action Chinese films in NZ.
This report gleaned from an original report penned byJohnathan Hutchinson, Michael Cieply and Colin Peacock. New Zealand also grew diplomatic relations in Seoul Korea today, Michael Woodhouse Mp appears on day one in Seoul where he has toured Gyeonbok Palace. Does Korea have any 3 D films they may need made and told in Middle Earth too, one might ask? NZ is a busy Asian-Friendly and Hollywood friendly filmmaking nation. And on that note, let's go Bollywood in NZ locations, coming at ya in 3D cinema. Namaste! Haere Mai!]

PRIME MINISTER JOHN KEY ON SIR PETER JACKSON’S 3D HOBBIT FILMMAKING IN MIDDLE EARTH VIA THE MAORI NEWS
Hobbit News from Hollywood, California USA:
We all love Sir Peter Jackson in Hollywood. He’s a box office heavy weight for this California City and a Hollywood Oscars King to boot. New Zealanders probably love Sir Peter a wee bit more than even Hollywood does. His early films have been studied many times over, by the New Zealand people just as much as his big blockbuster films have been viewed and enjoyed.
Sir Peter Jackson is a cultural hero of Middle Earth. Sort of like the Sir Edmund Hilary of Cinema to his home town of Wellywood.
However, Kiwis (New Zealanders) love our Prime Minister even more than the remarkable Sir Peter. He’s The Kiwi King. From the home and heart of Hobbitsville, here’s Prime Minister John Key speaking on Hobbit filmmaking in 3D, in this video news footage, addressing the recent actors’ union challenge via an Australian actors union that could have swayed Warner Bros. to move the film to another location. Such a move could have threatened the future of films being made in New Zealand by the best directors in the world.
This news report via Te Karere – Maori News shows a King in full support of what his filmmaking star director of Hobbits wants within his capacities as a leader who protects great artists, like Sir Peter of Middle Earth and the heart and soul of the magic that they create in their art.
Hollywood great, James Cameron‘s Avatar filmed in Wellywood, so let’s hope Warner Bros relationship with Hollywood’s collaborating twin filmmaking city remains strong, in producing Hollywood’s no.1 grossing box office films of all time globally between Hollywood and Wellywood.
The proven relationship to date is a match made in cross-cultural, box-office, results-generating heaven. Excellent filmmaking synergy.
Update: 10.26.10 @4.41 pm: TVNZ reports: “We will have to make an assessment about whether we think a clarification in the law would assist New Zealand economically,” Key said. “If we do, we might make some changes.”
“The Government has also admitted it is prepared to move “at the margins” on subsidies for the two films but would not enter a bidding war to match what was on offer internationally,” says New Zealand’s Prime Minister.

~Posted by Horiwood.Com, Hollywood California, Reporter: Roihana Nuri, Presenter: Scotty Morrison, Executive producer: Tini Molyneux. From Hollywood today, this was the way it was, looked and sounded from New Zealand for Hobbit fans worldwide in a culturally diverse nation of friendly Hobbit loving people in Middle Earth, Aotearoa-New Zealand. Cool aye? Incidentally Wellywood is also known by its 12th Century name, Te Whanganui a Tara – it is a story of twins too, like Hollywood and Wellywood are. Poetic and fitting at this moment in 3D Middle Earth history reflecting the twin cities of Wellywood and Hollywood. 10.26.10~
THOUSANDS ATTEND A HOBBITS 3D FILMS CASTING AND ACTOR’S EQUITY RALLY IN WELLINGTON NEW ZEALAND
Sir Richard leads the charge as thousands assemble in New Zealand’s capitol of Middle Eearth, Wellington, Wellywood of Poneke today.
These key points depict the saga over casting of actors, and their working conditions and union terms, the purpose of this rally.
New Zealand Herald brings us the well structured bones of this report: Sir Peter Jackson is opposed to an Australian union seeking to intervene and thwart plans of The Hobbit to be filmed in New Zealand locations.
“Keep The Hobbit in New Zealand” rallies (lol!) taking place in Middle Earth, saw a statement being read out, asserting New Zealand’s independence with New Zealand guilds being equipped to sort actor’s conditions out.
“Intervention by Australian-based union Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) risks tearing apart “the great big heart that beats inside all our films”.” Love it. Lol!
KEY 3D CINEMA PARADIGM SHIFT – CASTING MAORI AND POLYNESIAN TEENAGED ACTION STARS IN 3D, 2010′s
Hollywood, Calif– to [Hobbitsville, Middle Earth], Wellywood a Poneke today. A message on Wellywood casting.
One headline to grow the film industry globally: KEY 3D CINEMA PARADIGM SHIFT – MAORI AND POLYNESIAN TEENAGED ACTION STARS IN 3D, 2010′s
Why not?!
Image of Taylor Lautner of Hudsonville (Ottawa and Potawatomi Native American Indian tribes, descendant) 18, earns more than US$8 million a film in Hollywood. That’s not including his merchandising of his mixed American-indigenous image.
A Native [American Indian] teen in Hollywood. He has yet to appear in 3D cinema texts.
I present Taylor today as food for thought for Maori and Polynesian action stars, who are Hollywood worthy as entertainers also. Remembering that Maori have practiced Mau Rakau martial arts for centuries in Middle Earth, Aotearoa/ New Zealand. We have this history for 3D cinema’s authenticity as Art and Entertainment texts of Hollywood and Wellywood worthy cultural significance.
This thought being presented in Hollywood today for the land of Hobbits and their Oscar-holding creators and auteurs of Middle Earth to mull over. Namely Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor with casting lenses of wisdom and foresight worn in New Zealand, to grow existing and new talent and film markets from New Zealand shores showcasing all of New Zealand’s diverse potential in film growth to our economy. Courage to develop new Kiwi action stars, who have the potential to develop new action film genres that appeal to Asian markets.

Why can’t Polynesian and Maori Kiwi kids, be a vital part of Young Hollywood pop cultural texts, icons, symbols generation, and leadership too?
MAIKI SHERMAN – COVERS POLITICS IN THE MAORI LANGUAGE – SHANE JONES FOR TAMAKI ELECTORATE, THAT’S CULTURALLY VISIBLE IN NUANCED ARTS 2010′s
In the age of iPhone and digital media telephony – globally, a nation’s visibility is perceived as credibility. Maori and Polynesian Arts as Visual Arts getting more visual in Tamaki is a necessity to attract a global economy to New Zealand. The substance transmitted in all media that cannot be replicated, it stands on its own, will always be Spirit. If we possess it, we must serve it to Shine.
If we are credible, we must match the integrity of our belief with greater and more creative visibility as leading entertainers contributing to culture in the world. Whether they know it yet or not, the world needs US and our culture as expressed from artistic spirits–Horiwood on Arts & Visual Arts in The Super City – 2010′s.
Hot! Watch this clip to see news reporter Maiki Sherman covering politics and news in Auckland – The Supercity in Te Reo Rangatira (the language of Chiefs).
This clip also features Shane Jones who will stand in the Tamaki electorate, next election. Presenter Scotty Morrison and executive producer Tini Molyneux for Te Karere News bring us this unique story in Hollywood, wtih Maiki – for your viewing pleasure and Hollywood entertainment diversity.
Shane was Harvard educated in America, where he studied with his wife and children. He also speaks the indigenous peoples language of New Zealand – a future trend for all politicians in New Zealand to become more proficient in, for the upcoming years of NZ politics. It’s time.
For Maori leaders like Shane, promoting Maori women into leadership roles across all sectors of society is his and his male peers’ (regardless of color) next biggest challenge. I see Shane being very instrumental, visionary and gentlemanly in this role as the world seeks out Maori women leadership and their wisdom as women on many global issues concerning other women, in the world. Maori and Kiwi women have a gift to lead that’s on the rise.
[Um, I'm posting this clip, because Mr Jones said "And how is that talented son of yours?" to my Maori Helensville-raised mom, when the two last met, at Dame June Jackson's anointing in Auckland - The Supercity.
[This pic - Samuel Marsden of Yorkshire, a later arrival and founding father of New Zealand]
Shane and I both grew up in Nga Puhi country – when he was not in America studying, learning at the feet of Maori Marsden - one of the greatest minds on theology, whose gift of Peace to mediate, along with Gra Theodore‘s is legendary in the ilk of New Zealand leadership circles.
Maori Marsden was the great grandson of Samuel Marsden of whom exploits and legends of New Zealand history books write about. Samuel had a spirit of deep respect for Maori, similar to that of Sir Douglas Graham. I pay respect to these greats today too from Los Angeles, The Entertainment Capitol of the World.]
For all of you Hollywood readers –manners with a reply back is how I was raised. My reply: E pehea ana a Lucas raua ko Kylie Brown? Kia ora te whanau katoa. Kia kaha.
Maiki Sherman appears at the end of the clip, rocking it in the Maori language. Is New Zealand getting a cultural revolution in between filming Hobbits in 3D for Hollywood audiences, or what? So exciting to see Maori and Polynesian culture thriving. That’s the spirit. It would be awesome to see a leader from the Tamaki Electorate develop and foster Maori Art House Cinema in Tamaki and take Maori and Polynesian cultural operatic performance to cirque de Soleil heights too, in Tamaki.
We need cultural visibility in theater, film, fashion, globally competitive music and dance choreography that’s relatable, emulatable and appealing — across all arts genres diversity to compete with the way visual arts, are being used in political circles today.
In observing political trends in and from the USA – A nation’s arts, proceeds it’s message of political value. There’s no way around that. Art and culture is the artistic armory of Kings to trade within a culturally nuanced global market place.
Now there’s a challenge for a Tamaki electorate leader to foster and ensure for Auckland City’s global presence – for our Prime Minister and nation’s culture and economy growing and feeding into each other, naturally, like enriched dialogue depicting intelligence of expression and maturity of nationhood, in our pride and sense of place – from a paradise nation rich and beautiful in ecological resource.
[Message to Tamaki Electorate - Horiwood Hollywood, is pictured holding Wellington-based Maori-produced magazine Tu Mai in Hollywood California. Held is an image of visual artist, model and talent, Yasmin Bidois, 15, symbolizing people wealth of our young people’s talented potential. Yasmin wears a Hei Tiki in pounamu worn by Wahine Rangatira of the Chiefly ancients – but now, a young woman faces the challenges before her in a modern world. This image depicts a visible age of Maori and Polynesian in the age of iPhone mobile telephony and all media globally.
The artistic statement is: “Maori on French Art fusion via Hollywood, California USA.” All Maori produced media in making this low budget visual message. Put simply – Visibility is our credibility. Let’s get louder and more visual to express and grow Tamaki’s artistic cultural potential in The World and to compete in a global economy. Korowai evening dress, Yves St Laurent, couture of France, 1952. In honor of French-Maori connection in the arts, as Yasmin also symbolizes by blood. We are New Zealand art. Let’s get visual with sophisticated production budgets in creating our own globally appealing artists and messangers of cultural texts that have an appealing message about who we are as Kiwis. Mauri ‘Ola tatou.
