One of America’s most famous members of The Twitter community, lists her moniker key words as being:
“water, melanin, bones, blood.”
Deep.
Solange recently tweeted that she went to the movies to see Love and Other Drugs starring Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal. Her next tweet was hysterical. It was the word:
“Nauseus”
To follow Ms. Knowles on Twitter, go here. I always enjoy her culturally versant world view and opinions within America. She so black, even tweetin most messages in the American literary art form of ebonics. Love that! Because she does have the confidence to express herself her way- referencing American history by her verbage in a modern form, to me Solange Knowles is always an authentic American artist. Naturally.

I was thinking how in New Zealand, we hardly devote any time, energy, spend to the production of our “national anthem” being sung. In America, the singing of the anthem — is a production. Watch this clip.
What: A walk down memory lane–how a national anthem should and can be sung.
Who: Patti Labelle sings the American Nation Anthem (with power and gusto) for Venus Williams at US Open final at the request of President Bill Clinton. Watch that HERE. Amazin,
Above version Nona Gaye sings a (mellow and chill version duet) of the Star Spangled Banner (the SSB) with her late dad, Marvin Gaye. Both cute versions.
As a Kiwi – living in the US – it’s weird how New Zealand and America’s national anthems – both have the words “ramparts” in them. In New Zealand – we are “freedom’s ramparts.” Check out Patti Labelle giving a clue, what the sound of freedom is. Her version deserve THREE stars from Hollywood, I reckon. Talk about blowing racism out of the American air! Patti Labelle is something else. An amazing performance and picture of an American-ness vibe in the clip, I want to be a part of as a Kiwi American-Maori.
Wow!

This just in via text: “d-child’s solider (t.i atlanta) 4 K2 maori co. Please.”
A reply, to this post, from a certain Jewish, West Hollywood publicist of a certain American pop star and (national American treasure) today for Maori soldiers today.
“Nga tane toa o Te Roopu a K2 Company – Arohanui tatou no Te Taone Nui o Nga Anahera. Ka kite tatou. Ka Tu Te Whare Ka Ora. Kia kaha roa mo ake.”

Oprah‘s O Magazine wasn’t made overnight, it took time. Solange Knowles takes some time, to loan her family name to Fashizblackto celebrate this magazine’s 1st Anniversary issue. When many magazines folded last year, it’s tres impressive that this start up print magazine, just cat walked their way, right on through to their 1st birthday. Congrats. About the first issue:
Says Fashizblack‘s editor P.A.N in editorial, “we invited the ultimate FashizBlack girl, the one who keeps on inspiring us in so many ways ; Solange Knowles. For a couple of months now, she somehow became modern African Fashion’s ambassador. This specific kind of Afro style, aware of its environment, a style which can blend in with so many others.. that is THE Fashion we’ve been militating for since 2008 . Yet, Solange managed to establish her own personality, and this isn’t one easy thing to do when your sister’s name is Beyoncé Knowles.”
And with that, may the beautiful Solange Knowles keep on militating for years to come with afro style.
Any magazine that uses two pages to write the single word fashion, clearly, loves fashion. On black. Very cool.

It’s hard to believe that the humble can, has turned 200 today. But it has. WRCH Radio reports that on August 25, 1810, an English entrepreneurial gentleman Peter Durand was granted a patent for an idea he registered to preserve food in a humble tinplate vessel.
In 1812, the can manufacturing industry began. Like all innovative ideas, America had to have them, so that same year, Thomas Kensett, an English immigrant to America, brought the idea with him, that same year.
Today, there are over 600 diverse sizes and styles of cans being manufactured, offering 1,500 different food items in America all year round. Variety is a consumer’s spice of life, thanks to the humble can. But cans are also a booming industry once they’ve served their initial purpose of storing and preserving produce.
Since recycling began in America, consumers have earned more than $10 billion by returning their aluminum cans. One of America’s #1 financial advisors, Warren Buffet currently has his fortune invested in rail, humanitarian causes and garbage recycling. Buffet saw that there was money in garbage and thinking green.
The can is an art worthy subject of many famous artists. As The L magazine points out: “None of us can afford an authentic can of Andy Warhol‘s famous Campbell’s Tomato Soup, but what about Fuse designer Willem Heeffer‘s Campbell’s Soup Can Lights (top pic). These cost 90 euros ($113.50) for these artistic light fixtures. TreeHugger recommends trying to make your own and recycle.
Finally, Solange Knowles, popstar, brought the humble can to attention, when she made her music video for her song Sancastle Disco referencing pop music and pop artists, when she was filmed dancing on the top of Campbells soup cans. (Seen at the 1.30 mark of her video art). Here’s that song, in celebration of the can’s 200th birthday today.

Tweets the beautiful and talented Solange Knowles today, “… after ages of wanting to reject reading “Eat, Pray, Love”… I have been won over by people I trust have good taste. This better be good.”
I always feel like I know this girl. Unofficially, her family’s other publicist via Twitter, so naturally talented, Solange is a doll worthy of a spotlight and being looked after in the fame game.

Cheryl Lynn was a one hit wonder. But who cares. She still rocks today. An oldie and a goodie. Thanks Solange. “So Damn Goot” indeed. With Beyonce and Kelly Rowlandsat 10 years of age too. Always so talented, and working at a dream.

Michelle Obama once appeared on Sesame Street, so Solange Knowles thought it was a good idea to appear on the children’s show Yo Gabba Gabba! and sing a little song called, Momma Loves Baby.
Children are important. But what happened to Solange’s singing career?

Now that Susan Sarandon is single, she’s outrageous. While Solange Knowles and the band, Of Montreal, performed in NYC last night, men dressed in pig costumes were a part of the act.
Sarandon decided to get in on the act and entertain too, so she dressed in teacher spectacles and took to the stage and spanked these little pigs, for a laugh. The moment is priceless.
Is this a Tiger Woods commentary in short or what?! Sarandon was Elin Nordegren right then. Too funny. :)

While Diddy is throwing $3 million parties in NYC, Solange Knowles is throwing zero-budget parties in her flat. According to her tweets.
She’s a funny girl. Apparently, her party rocked during the AMA’s. The things a princess does to amuse herself, before she wins her first Soul Train Award later this month. Solange is a riot!
~Posted by Horiwood.Com, Hollywood California USA. 11.22.09~
Solange Knowles has quit her record label Interscope Records. Did that little Soul Train Award nomination, for Best New Artist, give her a bit of confidence to make like big sis Beyonce and bust out from her the label that launched her? A-ha!
Anyway, the gracious Solange tweeted this message:
“Although it’s been a wonderful journey & experience at Interscope Records, after truly recognizing what’s important to ME as an artist… …I decided it was time for me to continue my path on a more independent platform… I thank Ron and Jimmy for believing in me as an artist and supporting my journey…and have nothing but respect for the Interscope family… I’m excited about continuing to dive in, experiment and creating music and art with no boundaries, fears or expectations. Gonna be fun folks.”
And there you have it. Girl has busted out and is movin on!
The Soul Train Awards 2009are set to honor the performer who sung Barack and Michelle Obama into Inauguration Day glory. What an unforgetable historical performance and moment in world history!
Yes Beyonce and her baby sister, Solange Knowles both have received Soul Train Award nominations. The Awards will happen at the Georgia World Congress Center to be broadcast on Nov. 29 on the new Centric, which is the former BET J. Terence Howard and Taraji P. Hensen will host.
The late Michael Jackson is up for Entertainer of The Year. It’s either him or Beyonce for that honor. Will politics top the late King of Pop’s global outpouring of love this year? It’s a tough call. But there’s only so many times Beyonce can look shocked, honored, humbled, gracious and surprised. :)
Full list of nominees follow. Beyonce can do no wrong:
“Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he’s like, ‘You have this award.’ And when they didn’t call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, ‘No, no, no!’ and then he spoke, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no!’ But in the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment – and I didn’t have to make an acceptance speech.” – Beyonce to Gayle King at Billboard‘s “Women in Music”.

Honey Magazine quizzed Solange Knowles about cutting her hair off. Here’s what she said:
“I was putting too much into my appearance and I needed to make this about growth and going to the next stage of my life. I felt like I was being distracted by something as simple as hair. I’ve always been really fearless about change.”
Solange is just as beautiful as her sister, with or without the weaves. Love this shoot!
That’s the question on everyone’s lips in America tonight, at the announcement that a 30 year-old, branding specialist, Alexsandra Wright, has filed a paternity claim in the LA Country, Superior Court, claiming that her 6 month baby on the way is sired by Knowles.
What happened to: love your wife?
Or at least: If you like it put a condom on it!
The world awaits Tina Knowles, Beyonce Knowles, Matthew Knowles and Solange Knowles responses to the allegations. They’re a classy family, let’s hope they can hold it together and keep their peace of mind.
Now that’s the American spirit of a generous and talented eagle on display. Encourage others. Together everyone achieves more. Let’s go America! Here’s a flashback of the lovely Solange Knowles performing Viva La Vida, by the UK’s uber band, Coldplay.
It’s amazing how sitting, can be interesting, just because someone is Britney Spears. This is the most retweted pic of the day on tweetmeme.com. It just proves that the ordinary can be made strange, and the strange, ordinary. Art, is the ability to entertain by blurring the lines between the banal (everyday) things and the spectacular. Spears has been doing this for years.
Kristen Stewart’s simplicity and beauty dazzles on the cover of Dazed & Confused magazine. Totally trippy! While Madonna celebrated her 51st birthday, with three of her children. Even trippyer! She’s looking good.
When the city of Los Angeles votes their news topics of interest each day in Hollywood, here’s how it looks:

I love me some Gin. But this gin is the only Gin I’m allowed. Real gin makes me cry.
Thankfully, there is pop star Gin Wigmore, to remind me that a Gin a day, keeps the stress away. (It’s the rule the dearly departed Queen Mother used to live by! And she lived to be a hundred!)
The exquiste songstress, Gin Wigmore, from New Zealand has just been signed to Motown Records. Quite unusual for a blue eyed blondie from down under, but Gin is different. The girl has husky soul.
It’s an honor for New Zealand to produce an artist to be positioned and sit alongside such Motown greats, like the Jackson 5, Smoky Robinson et al. Now,we have Gin Wigmore – a Motown legend in the making.
Just listen to These Roses by Gin Wigmore. She’s like Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga fused together and her star is on the rise. I love great new music. I love people who can actually sing live. I love Gin Wigmore.
To discover more amazing pop songstresses from New Zealand where Gin Wigmore hails from and to check their amazing talent in song writing out, go here.
I’m still recovering from the outstanding Kelly Clarkson in concert (awesomery!!!). It’s been the weekend of splits. Kim Kardashian’s rep confirms that the reality TV star and her footballer husband, Reggie Bush, have indeed split. The reason: “conflict of schedules.” So show biz, right?!
Here’s the top 10 news items from here in Hollywood, that you all voted for over the weekend. Enjoy!
Dita Von Tesse did a show in LA last night at The Avalon. Because Beyonce is America’s black burlesque dancer, with vocals and flesh colored leotards, baby sister Solange Knowles decided to rock out and give Dita some support.
If you were on Twitter last night, you will know that Solange took her two favorite girlfriends with her, for a mom’s night off. You will also know that Solange was hysterical as she gave Dita the thumbs up all throughout Ms Dita Von Tesse’s performance with tweets like “Vagina Power!”
Then Ms Solange, decided to buy her girls shots after the Dita show and get them really plastered. The verdict, both Dita Von Tesse and Solange Knowles are big trouble in LA! Wireimage, Splash
Perhaps because Dita Von Tesse is such a fierce performer, with a smaller paycheck than most A-List stars, Solange was feeling her fierceness. So many Hollywood stars went to see Dita who is America’s premiere burlesque performer, even though Ms Christina Arguilera is hoping to go the way of Dita in her next movie Burlesque.
Perhaps Solange is just keeping Arguilera honest! If you saw Dita Von Tesse in LA last night, what were your thoughts on her show?
