Serena Williams is injured with a right foot requiring some rest and repair from the court. But that didn’t stop Serena from rocking her weave and her bling in support of her sister Venus, at the U.S Open today. Since Tiger Woods is preoccupied running his sports branding interests these days, Serena Williams is it, for sporting drinks giant, Gatorade. Here’s her latest tweet for Friday 13th: “At grocery store…… I’m always buying gatorade!!”

ATP World Tour news is reporting that “Roger Federer and Serena Williams led a handful of ATP World Tour and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour stars in a 90-minute Hit for Haiti charity fundraiser in Melbourne Sunday.
The exhibition raised more than A$200,000 (US$184,700). Proceeds raised from the event, along with significant donations made from the ATP World Tour, Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, ITF, Grand Slam Committee and Tennis Australia will exceed half a million dollars. (more…)
Serena Williams got slapped with an $92,000 fine, the biggest fine in tennis history for losing her cool. Here’s her response in her own words:

As the world seems to know or for those who don’t I want to speak about my recently dubbed “outburst” and how I feel.
I have recently been fined by the Grand Slam Committee of the ITF (International Tennis Federation) over 82 thousand dollars for getting mad and using the “F-bomb” at a line Judge.
To clear things up FIRST I was NOT fined 82 thousand dollars. I was fined 92 thousand dollars! I paid 10 thousand dollars on site immediately after the U. S. Open. So for the record, I was fined $92,000 not $82,000! The biggest fine EVER in tennis.
Is it, old yeller? GOP man Joe Wilison, yelling out “You lie” during Obama’s healthcare speech.

The Kanye West of women’s tennis, Serena Williams had victory today with sister Venus at the two sisters won the US Open womens’s doubles tennis, Monday.
Williams and Williams defeated top seeded players Cara Black of Zimbabwe and Liezel Huber of the US, 6-2, 6-2.
During Serena’s apology that took place in the sisters’ press conference, Venus sat there looking very serious, while Serena Williams apologized for her outburst in her semi-final woman’s match against Belgium’s Kim Clijsters.
Says Serena of making amends with the line official she screamed at, “I just want to give her a big old hug.”
Gosh this girl knows how to milk it and redeem herself. Cute! I love this girl. Serena has earned over $100 million in sports endorsements and $21 million from her on court tennis performances as an athlete.
It was interesting seeing Serena’s apology make the news on Access Holllywood, Tinsel Town’s entertainment news TV show, which shows just how much Serena is an entertainer as well as a sports star. Congrats Williams girls. Serena’s back. Let’s hope she leaves her temper in the ‘practice rackets’ closet, in future.
He has the hottest America girlfriend in US modelling, Amber Rose, so perhaps he can be forgiven for getting carried away with him impetuous bad self! Ever the showman, if Kanye West didn’t do pranks like robbing Taylor Swift of her moment of glory, and cutting in on her speech, stealing the VMA show, than it perhaps wouldn’t be as entertaining as it was.
Kanye West, love him or loathe him brought the drama last night. No one’s sure for certain, whether his interruption of Swift’s speech was staged by MTV, between West, Swift, Beyonce and Jay-Z to create a finale that could somehow equal the brilliant Michael Jackson tribute opener by MJ performance footage/ Madonna and Janet. The show had to be balanced out somehow after a great opening tribute number to the King of Pop, so this creative interruption from Kanye provided the big payoff moment for Taylor Swift, and put Swift ahead of Lady Gaga and Pink after Beyonce herself of course. Hey, that’s how showbiz and stars keep the star power close to their chests. Jay-Z is perhaps the King of this, behind the scenes.

The Ten Top MTV VMA Awards moments of 2009 that stood out, were:
1. Michael Jackson’s footage of the King of Pop performing his greatest hits, was a level of performance, that perhaps only Beyonce is matching at this level, singing live and storytelling through constant, rigorous dance choreography. The posthumous footage of Jackson’s music videos and MJ live in concert, stole the show.
2 TIE A: Madonna’s speech for the King of Pop, showed class. The woman who has had the most successful tour ever in the history of music or a solo act this year and in a global recession; and who has amassed 40 #1 dance chart hits; the highest ever in the dance chart countdown by an artist… only Madonna could honor Jackson in a way that other American leaders couldn’t. She did. Wow! What a moment!
2. TIE B: Janet Jackson’s performance of her duet song with brother Michael, Scream was amazing. Janet is back.
4. Kanye West’s interruption of Taylor Swift’s speech, for Taylor’s first ever VMA award she’d won drew boos from the crowd. Of course this was staged (as was the Eminem and Bruno prank at the MTV Popcorn Awards earlier this year), but it seemed so real, even Pink tweeted about it before her performance. Kanye created a moment that stole the show.

John Macenroe famously commented last night, on how Serena Williams should have won an Oscar for her press conference last night at the US Open. Here’s that footage.
My favorite part was when a reporter asked Serena, what sister Venus had said to her after the match.
Serena’s response: “That’s between V and me.”
She’s too funny! John Macenroe’s best tennis protege to date. Obviously!
I have to say. Serena’s cussing episode, doesn’t seem all that bad with French Reporters!
I know rules are rules. However, it’s Serena whose playing the game, not the line umpire.
Such a shame to bow out that way! Thank goodness Serena has boyfriend Common to console her, when the line umpire, just has her cat, after getting her 15 minutes of fame for making a wrong call on a foot fault at a pivotal time in the match.

Love it. Tennis drama at the US Open. And the only US player who could have been in the final got wrongly called out on a foot fault for bad sporstsmanship, when Serena’s a woman. Doh! Good one America!!!!
Serena Williams, the current defending champion of the US Open Tennis Championship, was dismissed at match point against Kim Clijstters in the semi-final, Saturday. Clijsters won the first match 6-4.
Williams was down 5-6 and had the serve in the second set. At 15-30, the foot umpire called a foot fault which footage of the match later revealed was not a foot fault. Serena apparently said something to the line umpire who made the wrong call, that she would stick the tennis ball Serena was holding in her hand, where the sun don’t shine, basically! The foot fault umpire complained and Serena was penalized a point which cost her the match.
Williams already had been given a code violation warning when she broke her racket after losing the first set.
Tennis is about entertainment as well as sport. Serena certainly brought that. The F word she used at least 3x and the A word at least once.
The ironic thing about Serena’s ordeal, was that the US Open head official, defined the dismissal as being a show of ‘unsportsman-like’ behavior, which had cost Williams the match.
What I don’t understand is, how can the word ‘sportsmanship’ still be used in women’s tennis, without going unquestioned and unchallenged in this day and age. Wouldn’t ‘sportspersonship’ behavior be more appropriate.
I thinks that’s more the point in this Serena Williiams Vs US Tennis Open Officials story tonight. Those rules need changing! That’s more the point.

Kristen Stewart and Q’orianker Kilcher have Summit Entertainment’s Twilight Eclipse casting in common. Kristen’s casting as Bella Swan for the third film of Stephenie Meyers novels, proves Kristen Stewart is hot enough to make both Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen and Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black both have chemistry, both onscreen and also in real life, with a cinematic association to the LA actress.
However, when put to public vote, it is Q’orianker Kilcher who is rating today at #1, on the issue of the Twilight Saga’s casting choices. Kilcher, the actress who starred at 14 years of age as Pocahontas in The New World, is the rising star of Horiwood.Com the past two month. She’s got blog heat and an exciting future in film ahead of her. Q’orianker is 19 years old and has a bright future in mainstream movies.
Horiwood also congratulates Julia Jones III, 30, for landing the role of Leah Clearwater, 19, for Twilight Saga Eclipse. Beating out beautiful, highly accomplished, younger and even more intelligent actresses, is no easy feat. Congratulations too Ms Jones. Perhaps Julia Jones could be a Meryl Streep kind of actress. Meryl is still going strong in her 60s. That could be Julia Jones’ story too if she has staying power in Hollywood.
