Hollywood is so surreal. You don’t have enough gas in your tank to get home from your 100% commission job in a recession after putting in an 8 hour day and 40 hours for the week. You’re in shock as your eftpost card declines at the gas pump. Every single AP loaded to your bank account must have gone out. But at least you have cable, that American staple of entertainment, at home. You just don’t know how you’re going to get home to watch any of it, unless you push your car along Hollywood Blvd.
Then you go inside to the cashier and your old lottery ticket at the bottom of your wallet, you fish out. It’s crumpled but you straighten it out and hand it over to the Pakistani cashier with fingers crossed and eyes closed. The sound the cashier’s til makes as it opens let’s you know that it is a minor winner at the gas station in that moment. Believe it or not, this is how many young people in Hollywood are living each day, right now. Oh, and people in their 50s and 60s too. George Bush’s governance and Dick Chaney’s ill advice, has totally cost these people their American dream.
Not to worry! Such is the story of Hollywood. But like the lottery ticket today, the city always holds luck, even when you least expect it. You just need to believe that things will be okay, and they do get better. But what a surreal experience!

Hollywood upstart, Hayden Panettiere appears on the cover of UK Company Magazine, because the Brit’s love their fix of naughty girls (Amy Winehouse, Katie Price, Kerrry Katona, Lily Allen, Kate Moss et al).
In the magazine, that Brits are reading while they swig down a pint at the pub with a fish and chip lunch in their lunch hours during UK winter, Hayden spills the beans on three very important topics close to her heart.
These being: gossip, image and staying ground (the latter being a topic she knows nothing about!). Here’s what she had to say:
On her love hate relationship with gossip: It depends on what it is. Sometimes things come up that need to be dealt with or damage-controlled, but if they don’t then I stick my fingers in my ears and go ‘lalalala’-I don’t care.
On her me, myself and I love affair with her body shape: Staying in shape is part of my job, but I’m not always the best at being diligent about working out. I try not to let it grab hold of my life.
On her delusion that she is remotely grounded and down to earth: Well, for one thing, it’s like having a bunch of big brothers on the set [of Heroes]. I am the butt of every joke in that place-I’m constantly being made fun of and having my ego smashed by them! But really it’s just the people that are around me-my family and really close friends. You become very guarded, but it also makes those people close to you so much more valuable.
Honestly, this girl deserves to be read in a lunch hour over greasy fries, fish dripping in lard and then swilled down with barley hops and beer. No wonder why the Brit’s love her. She’s everything that Londoners would love coming out of America.
Too funny! What a great cover from the heroes hottie. Growing up is never easy in Hollywood for kids. It’s a rough and tumble world on those tumultuous red carpets in Tinsel Town. Hayden is one of the best examples of that!
