SECURITY AT KAILUA WITH THE OBAMA’S VACATION, HAWAII
Michelle Obama is already in Hawaii with Malia Obama and Sasha Obama enjoying Kailua Beach for the family’s scheduled vacation. The First Family await Mr Obama‘s arrival from Washington DC. The President is expected to touch down in Hawaii tomorrow (Wednesday) to join his family.
Residents will soon feel the full impact of a presidential visit, AP reports via USA Today: The Secret Service began alerting residents of spacious homes along Kailuana Place last week that checkpoints will soon go up. Hawaiian Telecom personnel were busily repairing telephone wiring outside one of the Obama homes, which sit midway down a cul-de-sac.
Once authorities throw up a cordon around the neighborhood, simple pleasures like walking the beach or canoeing in a canal near the three houses will become difficult — if not impossible.
The Democratic president is not expected to engage in fundraisers or other overtly political acts. Dante Carpenter, chairman of the Hawaii Democratic Party, said he’s asked if Obama could be enticed into attending even a low-key event, but he hasn’t heard back.
“I think he’s been up to his eyeballs in horse manure and gun smoke, not necessarily in that order,” Carpenter said. “He may be looking for time with his family and that’s about it. I can’t blame him.”

MICHELLE OBAMA AND GIRLS HEAD TO HAWAII, IN AN EFFICIENT PLANE, FOR SCHEDULED FAMILY VACATION TIME
HONOLULU (AP) — President Barack Obama‘s Hawaii vacation is being delayed by unfinished business in Washington, but first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha are going ahead with their trip this weekend.
A statement from Michelle Obama’s office Friday said the rest of the family — including the first dog, Bo — will depart for Honolulu on Saturday as originally scheduled for the holidays.
The president won’t fly to Hawaii until Congress’ session is complete, possibly on Wednesday.
The family won’t take Air Force One, instead flying on a C40B, a version of the Boeing 737 that the first lady’s office described as one of the White House fleet’s smaller and most efficient planes.
The entire Obama family will return to Washington on Jan. 1.
[Let's hope the Obama ladies have the best holiday ever. They so deserve it. I mean to be in sun and around people who are genuinely friendly and with plenty of tropical flavored shave ice would be fun and so healthy for this family. It's not sugar that is harmful to this family. Wishing them a good Hawaii Christmas]

Indonesia’s President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his lovely wife, First Lady Ani Bambang Yudhoyono hosted US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama today. Here’s a brief recap of the short visit from the O’s:
On being happy to see the Obama’s touch down in Indonesia: Indonesia was one of Obama’s childhood homes, he’s an adopted son in hearts and minds of the Indonesian people.
On Indonesia believing Obama can fix the Middle East: No. Indonesians don’t believe Mr Obama can change the situation much, or that for Indonesian Muslims either, he can bring peace to their situation and make their lives better. Realistic is good. Maybe the man will enjoy his visit then.
He brought Indonesia to a stand still: (note: hip hop performers get their asap): “We all stopped what we were doing,” said Tito, who works at the front desk at the Novotel Hotel in Balikpapan, a city on Borneo island. “Staff, guests … It’s just so amazing that he grew up here, has family here, and is now the U.S. president.” The whole nation of Indonesia were transfixed on their TV screens with the Obamas touched down on the tarmac. Nice. “We really have to greet him like a homecoming brother,” said Linggas Sitompul, a 65-year-old customer at a food stall serving Bakso, the same spicy meatball soup the president says he loved as a child.
Sentimental feelings towards Mr O: As a child Obama spent four years in Indonesia, but the people know he is not theirs. Most now recognize his visit will not improve their poverty or raise their national stature. And they know that despite feeling a kinship with the American president, in the end, he will leave and go back to the place that is really his home.
A 24 hour stop over only: “Volcanic ash of a volcano hundreds of miles (kilometers) away in Iceland was cited as the reason why Mr and Mrs Obama won’t be stopping long in Indonesia. 1700 air flights have been canceled due to the volcano’s ash clouds over Europe.
On Meeting Indonesia’s political players: “President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono presented a line of ministers to Obama, who greeted them in Indonesian.”
On reaffirming to Muslims that extremists are who America is gunning not all Mulsim people: War, unfortunately is war. However Obama intends on visiting a mosque to speak, in order to further convince Muslims that the U.S. is not waging a war on Islam, but on terrorism, and needs the help of moderates to fight it. That sounds like a money saving idea. Good.
On not recognising his hood he grew up in ’67-’71: “Obviously much has been made of the fact that this marks my return to where I lived as a young boy. I will tell you though that I barely recognized it as I was driving down the streets,” he said to laughter. “The only thing that was there when I first moved to Jakarta was Sarinah (a shopping mall). Now it’s one of the shorter buildings on the road.”
What Obama’s school teacher had to say: “I have waited so long for this visit,” said Katarina Fermina Sinaga, 61, who taught the chubby, vivacious boy, then known as “Barry,” in the third grade. “I still hope to meet him. I just don’t want him to forget us.”
On having crocodiles as pets: The Indonesian people remember that his mother would walk him to school through streets muddied by monsoon rains, that he was comfortable speaking Indonesian, and that the family kept white crocodiles and a monkey in their yard. How intriguing.
Mr Obama plans to return with his two daughters to show them Indonesia at some point. He was not able to stop and see his family members this visit, some of who are in Indonesia.

PRESIDENT PRATIBHA PATIL HOSTS THE OBAMAS FOR DINNER
It looked as though Michelle and Sonia had coordinated their sartorial choices for the evening: Michelle was in a dark grey gown and without jewellery. Sonia was in a sari, shades lighter than Michelle’s grey.
Four guests signalled their nationalistic dress preferences: A.K. Antony and Deve Gowda showed up in the south Indian “veshti” and shirt/kurta; Mulayam Singh Yadav in his dhoti-kurta and Rahul Gandhi in pyjama-kurta and open sandals.
Mulayam reportedly greeted the Obamas starry-eyed, unable to get over the few Hindi words the US President threw into his speech in Parliament.
The power couples of the evening were Mukesh and Nita Ambani, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and her husband, and the Analjit Singhs of Max Medicare, the last ranking as a major sunrise sector in India’s overseas collaborations.
A few others, including Sunil Bharti Mittal, Shashi Ruia, Rahul Bajaj and Subrata Roy, came alone.
Some of the guests said they were “pleasantly surprised” to sample the “100 per cent” Indian fare — a fusion of Punjabi, Avadhi and Mughlai cuisines — considering the complaints that had tumbled in at earlier dos about the “vapid” steamed and stir-fried veggies and watery “dals”.
The reason: the catering was outsourced to Delhi’s well-known chef, Marut Sikka, a favourite of Sonia’s. The starters included Sikka’s trademark spinach “papri chaat” that he reportedly unearthed from Varanasi’s “gallis”.
It seems the Obamas were comfortable with the fare and even ate samosas with their fingers.”

THE OBAMA’S ARE TRES FASCINATING TO MEDIA IN INDIA

CBS News wants us to know that it’s very hard for them to get their cameras near the Obamas in India because the media scrum is “intense.”

More than 200 news channels in 26 languages are providing wall-to-wall coverage of the president’s three days here. The news operations have a huge audience. Nearly 1.2 billion people live in a country that is about one-third the geographic size of the U.S.
Indian TV news takes note of every word Mr. Obama utters. No syllable goes uncovered.
Virtually every Indian channel carried live coverage of the president’s town hall meeting with students at St. Xavier College in Mumbai.
One questioner was curious about the impact of the U.S. midterm election. “It seems that the American people have asked for a change,” observed one politically astute young man in the audience.
The president agreed and predicted he would, “make some midcourse corrections and adjustments.”"

FLOTUS, Michelle Obama, laid all her American dance moves aside and leaped into some new fun and learning, dancing with young people in India.
Their traditional music, is a little bit hip, as reflected in this dance video too of Beyonce dancing at a block party with arms raised, Indian style also. (Kylie Minogue‘s arm/ hand movements choreography from her new music video Get Outta My Way, a few weeks before Beyonce was filmed, doing Indian-styled hip hop choregraphy, also reflects the same trait. Hands expression in dance is India).
Nice cross-cultural similarities being found and created right now in world history (in arts and cultural performing arts) between America and India with Mrs Obama. Quite novel really, who ever would have thought?
Also Britney Spears Bollywood choreography in her Circus World Tour was also a forward-thinking example of this. The most successful cross-over American artist in India’s history is Michael Jackson (1/4 of all music download in India, is that of MJ’s). Nice to see Michelle Obama going after the Jackson golden trail of cultural appeal that Indians like… in the dance of life that in universally shared by us all.
Janet Jackson also demonstrated this in her no. 1 hit, Runaway -the music video,15-years ago for American women crossing over into India by paying tribute and respect to Indian women’s legacy of dance as performing artists. That clip below. Michelle Obama makes it look so natural and easy for America to dance Indian. Love it, just like the world loves Janet doing the same thing. Mrs Obama is the first First Lady of America to do this. Go Michelle!:
Of course, being a Kiwi I ask the question, what would Bollywood musicals choreography look like, filmed in the colorful magic of 3D cinematic mastery? Now there’s the future of cinema and musical cinema(s) bridge-building cross-culturally smart, right there. A part of it, anyway. Peter Jackson directing a simulation of the Taj Mahal imagery in 3D could be quite hot, when filming action and choreography. Watching Mrs Obama perform in the above clip also reminds me of Avondale, a city in Auckland The Supercity and the culturally rich Kiwi-Indian community of New Zealand. Love them.

MICHELLE OBAMA IS ALL ABOUT FITNESS AND DANCE

This week, FLOTUS appeared on TV Talk Show Ellen, popping her dance moves as she was intro-ed onto the show.
When Ellen suggested that she was the better dancer than husband Barack Obama, Mrs Obama nodded: ‘I’m sure of that.’
“He tried to dispute it when he was here,” Ellen said.
“He’s wrong. I think we have proof,” Michelle joked.
It’s good to see the First Lady having fun. This on the back of a White House aide sending out a press release to the world with her name spelled wrong as The UK’s Daily Mail noted. It happens. Go here to read about genuine human error, of an intern who obviously is watching too much Glee when spelling names like that.
Next up though for America’s leading lady is the announcement that “First lady Michelle Obama and White House adviser Valerie Jarrett will travel Friday to Chicago for the funeral of Bishop Arthur M. Brazier, a White House official said.” A man who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King - Brazier is the author of: Black Self-Determination, Saved by Grace and Grace Alone and Delivery Systems for Model Cities. Sounds like a rivetingly good read to me!

100 WORTHY WOMEN – ARIANNA ‘HUFF N’ BLOW’ IS DOING WAY TOO MUCH AS A PARROT VIA FORBES MAGAZINE
Arianna Huffington needs to think green, and population mass statistics, demonstrating a fair reflection of social and political circles (she doesn’t want to network too), when she chooses her lists, in order to make them appear more credible.
I notice that Arianna Huff N Blow (or Arianna Huffington) is doing way too much for Forbes Magazine this month from America.
Although Arianna lists 100 Powerful Women in a list, I’m not all that into her ranking thinking. She lists Michelle Obama at #1 (woot!) but Queen Elizabeth II at #41. Which prompts the question, has Ms Huff N’ Blow ever been to London, or, a Commonwealth nation ever? My next gripe is that Angelina Jolie is #21, not 11. Wendi Murdoch isn’t on this list, neither is Melinda Gates -women that have way more power, than Arianna in the world. There’s not enough Chinese, Asians, Arab women, no Kiwis or Australians either. And where is the Maori on this list, I might ask? When Maori women sound the karanga on marae, that’s true power.
But seriously, the most glaringly obvious oversight is that HM Queen Noor of Jordan who moves across all Arab nations, isn’t even on Ms Huff N’ Blow’s radar this year – when Noor is addressing nuclear arms weapons in the world. A green topic that affects all generations, long after Arianna’s great grandchildren have had their children. Is this woman even a mother, like she claims? Shesh! Clearly, no.
What is Arianna snorting, in addition to her own, one-sided ego that back-scratches her own lip stick wearing ass, into a place of U.S history, where she’s even the parrot face of this rigged list? Ridiculous!
Makes me just want to run with this picture of Paisley Jade and her pet parrot, all the way from New Zealand, to give this woman a rocket up her jacksie and a reality check today from Hollywood.
People aren’t that stupid. And where is Beyonce Knowles on this list? Power from the hip hop hood – the biggest genre of music sold worldwide? And where are Indian women in this list? (Indian women making up a 12th of the world’s population alone – that’s power, outside of Arianna’s pretentious New York list today).

DANCE CHOREOGRAPHERS AS ARCHITECTS OF CULTURE, 2010′s – $100 MILLION DESIGNATED TO HOUSE DANCE AND ART AS HEALING FOR GROUND ZERO GRIEF

New York today have found a good cure to help heal wounds of wars scars, from the American psyche at site Ground Zero.
According to the Arts Beat Blog of the New York Times: “A committee of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation on Wednesday recommended that the corporation allocate up to $100 million for the performing arts center planned for ground zero. The money would come from a pool of some $200 million formerly designated for utility companies. At the corporation’s Wednesday board meeting, Kate D. Levin, the New York City cultural affairs commissioner, said the money was important “to fulfill this critical part of the master plan.”
The financing, adds $50 million in federal money already designated to the development corporation.

FLORIDA’S TOURISM DOLLAR: THE FIRST FAMILY HEAT UP MIAMI AS A FAMILY VACATIONING SPOT
This just in from the Associated Press. America’s first family plans to holiday in Florida this August. Reports the Associated Press:
“WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is planning on vacationing near the Gulf Coast, something first lady Michelle Obama, the girls and himself have been planning to help boost Florida’s economy.
The White House said the Obamas will visit an undisclosed section of Florida’s coast the weekend of Aug. 14.
Obama has made four trips to the Gulf region, including an overnight stay, since an underwater well exploded in April and began spewing oil into the Gulf of Mexico. First lady Michelle Obama was scheduled to make her second visit to the area on Friday.
On their trips to the region, both the president and Mrs. Obama have made a point of encouraging people to visit Gulf Coast beaches that are open and oil-free to help boost an area economy battered by the sharp decline in tourism that followed the spill.
“One of the best ways that fellow Americans can help is to come on down here and spend some money,” Mrs. Obama said this month in Panama City Beach, Fla., where she strolled barefoot in the sand and bought a cup of chocolate ice cream.

BEYONCE SINGS FOR MEXICAN ROYALTY IN THE WHITE HOUSE TONIGHT
Because Lady Gaga was unavailable today (she’s filming her “hot like Mexico” music video here in LA, reflecting back the same message from the City of Angels instead) the beautiful Beyonce Knowles was seen heading to The White House to sing this evening, Wednesday 19th May 2010.
Mexico’s President Felipe Calderon and first lady Margarita Zavala are guests of honor for the Obamas. Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriela and the United States Marine Band are singing too.
Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, (aka The Robin Hood Cannes latina and gorgeous, red carpet diva-ettes), Oprah Winfrey and George Lopez. were also invited.
Sounds a bit like… this blog (allegedly!!!)… a bigger blast than oil rigs exploding off the Coast of Mexico’s Gulf in flames! Love it.
And what really irks me, is that inspite of some of the most exciting people in the world, being present at this prestigious dinner party tonight… that Carlos Slim Helu, the richest bloke in the world, (and Mexico’s other president who owns most of Mexico’s infrastructure and telecommunications too) couldn’t even be bothered turning up.
When you have two of America’s #1 divas of pop, warbling a lesbian Telephone pop song, and all of these power players at the table too–that must have been a little bit disappointing, not to have Carlos present.
His biz model is one that America should adapt asap to aid America’s economy quicker. Slim Helu knows a thing or ten about how to make a buck. Fixing the immigration laws could help a little, in Arizona though, to get his attention. No one likes a strained welcome. But perhaps next dinner party, the Obamas will be successful.

MICHELLE OBAMA AND BARACK OBAMA HOST THEIR 2nd WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT’S DINNER
Wearing bold and vibrant red, First Lady Michelle Obama was the hostest with the mostest beside USA’s main man, President Obama as America’s leading couple hosted their second White House Correspondents Dinner since they’ve been in office.
Don’t they look good? The Tino Rangatiratanga Maori flag (which stands for sustainability and good governance over the earth’s remaining resources–amongst many meanings) reflects this stellar couples fashion color palate, today from New Zealand via Hollywood.
