RUGBY GIRL TRINITY BROOKE HAS A BEAMING SMILE IN THE UK TODAY
As a leader I love her because she can listen and divide matters fairly. In this regard she’s just like her grandma, Lady Thorp–Horiwood on Trinity Brooke’s fearless leadership skills.
Trinity Brooke of rugby royalty has a beaming smile today as she hangs out with some girlfriends for a bit of socialite time in the U.K. She is the grandchild of Lady Patricia Thorp, the sweetest woman who served Auckland City on The Council looking after the environment. That was Lady Thorp’s hot thing, amongst many. As a leader, Brooke is a young lady I trust. She’s always worthy of spotlight and she’s a pearla.
When it comes to entertainment trends, Trinity has the best tastes. She grew up with women the ilk of Debbie Harwood singing impromptu (no bands, no palava just real true fearless Kiwi talent) around her dinner table, as a kid growing up in New Zealand, so you can’t blame Trin really. She’s the real deal Pasifika knowing Kiwi girl. Impeccable taste.
Trinity and myself, thanks to Lady Thorp, both went together to see Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson perform live in concert, because Patricia was like that. If someone was talented with a message people needed to see and hear and feel, Patricia was the all for the talented person in the world. I still thank her for her gifts of leadership today, that Trinity Brooke now also carries so richly in her young life. Trinity Brooke is special. She knows the ways and I know that Trinity does. Women of action. Can’t be beat.
When we last caught up with Trinity, she’d recently given birth to baby Oscar Brooke and then had launched right on into a wee triathlon excursion. Kiwi’s–we’re full on!
Trinity is all about health and fitness. Actually this girl always has been as far as I can recall. Love her. She’s a fine basketball player and netball player too.
What a gorgeous Maori-Kiwi smile. Full beam ahead then. Hey Trin. :)
[Trinity Brooke is proudly of the Ngati Awa Maori tribe and also of Matakana Island Maori tribal affiliations too. Now based in London, Brooke is from Auckland the Supercity and has fun family in Melbourne Australia too. Image Trinity's own. Amy Te Whetu is pictured with Trinity on the right. Go Maori-Kiwi girl's in the UK!]

JACKSON ESTATE SYMBOLS via MISS JANET for HER BROTHER’S GIFTS TO ENTERTAIN
Alrighty, I am still obsessing on the fact that Michael Jackson as a brand to entertain, still rocks on, because his architecture as an entertaining King, has a life force of it’s own–with or without him.
That’s nuts. For a fragile dude, he sure built a solid kingdom of entertainment to model. Look at this stuff fly. It’s the real deal of a King. Dance is celebrated in these images of art and performance. Monarch butterflies and Doves feature too.
These are the symbols that Jackson’s children and Miss Janet Jackson – MJ’s sister, are presenting to his fans and the world.
There is no more successful American who proved they could cross over and appeal to India, like Michael Jackson. He “lived beyond color lines, geographical borders and boundaries” to paraphrase his sister’s Rhythm Nation lyrics.
He was cross-cultural, all people he saw as being the same. As a culture maker, and America’s King of Pop he saw his role as creating symbology for his fans, so that they could have a sense of global culture that resonated with them all.
Seriously though, as New Zealand is the nation that creates Jackson-Taylor Monarchs in 3D in the 2010′s of cinema mastery –we perhaps need a ‘royal cinematic meeting of entertainment minds’ with one of MJ’s kids or his nieces or nephews (we’re not fussy), to star in our Hobbit films, to cement that point. What a cool idea.
Let me play ‘stand in’ Hollywood casting agent on this one… We’ll go for Blanket Jackson thanks, as a Hobbit prince of Latino descent. :)Having seen both Michael and Janet Jackson both perform live in concert in Auckland at Mt Smart Stadium, New Zealand with friend, Trinity Brooke, I think Blanket would rock, following in the footsteps of the family, in a Hobbit film shot in 3D and Middle Earth. Imagine that! A real Jackson Hobbit too. Perfect!
Enjoy these images, from Blanket’s Estates’ one page ad in the LA Times today. A paper that services a city and associated cities of 20 million people.

A MIDTERM’S RESPONSE: JANET JACKSON for HER AMERICA and HER NATION’S FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT
A day after the midterm elections have not fared well for President Barack Obama‘s Dems government, Janet Jackson (mainly, The Jackson Estate) start up their PR machine, for the next MJ themed venture.
Two thoughts:
a) When Michael Jackson passed away, President Obama was noticeably one of the last leaders to acknowledge MJ’s passing. Jackson, though veiled in controversy, was the ‘real’ hidden black king of American celebrity then. My own personal view, was that Obama should have acknowledged MJ and his contribution to American life, immediately. He chose not to, finally releasing a short paragraph press statement about MJ. The Jackson family held their tongues on the issue opting to have Martin Luther King‘s children speak at their brother’s memorial service, to make a statement about MJ’s trailblazing path for all African-Americans in the world. MJ was the third most well known person on the planet, after The Queen of England and The Pope of the Catholic Church.
In India, given India’s rich tradition of Bollywood artists and folklore too, of millions of singing dancing people and talented songwriters in Hindu, Jackson in responsible for 24% of all songs ever downloaded in India. Or, as an American celebrity, companies like Apple, Microsoft, anyone in the IT music downloading biz, still owe a huge debt to Jackson. Off the back of his sound and music and presence in a nation with 1/6th of the world’s population, all American music is sold into this market.
b) Always a woman of taste and grace, Janet Jackson, has not been photographed with the Obamas, but this is her response today, on behalf of the Jackson Camp. A full page ad in the Los Angeles times, of the latest entertainment showcase to emerge from her brother’s ‘ghost’ or his life story. She makes her statement along with the Jackson family, for their America, their fan base kingdom here and abroad, with the announcement of a Cirque du Solais show. Love how she rolls. So dignified.
Show not tell. In these images we see, what a black king is all about. The Jackson estate remind the world, what a proven King is about. Fun, imagination, play, creating images of liberty and freedom. This sells. Makes money, grows an economy while making people happy.
The monarch butterfly is an image, Jackson created so many different pictures about in his performances as an artist. The message, is always, UP! Spread your wings then. Don’t be afraid to fly. Especially down to New Zealand, for a little hot vacation down. Kiwi’s are Fun!!!
Thanks Janet Jackson and family for the years of quality entertainment and powerful messages that have amused, inspired, fed the world too from American shores as well as within it. MJ was a flawed yet fascinating King of Pop. As I repeatedly say on this blog – he is still the template cutter of all stars, in the American entertainment industry. It’s his model entertainers follow when mimicking the money trail he created of successful entertainment distribution.
What I liked about him personally was the he was moving into 3D on the eve of his death and before his world tour. As a Maori-Kiwi who lives in MH’s city and state of California, that resonates with me. His monarchy, was going in the direction of 3D. As a Kiwi, I take his monarch symbol of his favorite butterfly image as a symbol of ‘royalty.’ In the mode of US celebrity–I own it, for the New Zealand 3D filmmaking industry. It’s ours now too, along with the buzzy bee made from wood, a toy for infants and children, that Princess Dianna associated with her son Prince William Windsor, when she revealed him to the World at Waitangi, birth place of Middle Earth’s origins of early hobbit law. A monarch butterfly and a buzzy bee are both playful icons representing “sweetness hunters,” drawn to nectar and honey. Sweet good people like these symbols.
Monarchy in 3D is Kiwi and US!
Thanks Janet Jackson! And family. Anaheim (Disneyland country, is where Jackson’s first Cirque show will play. (Peter Pan reference). It also must be noted, this advertisement is the only full color add in the newspaper that services 20 million people of California for news. Um, that’s like the size of 4 1/2 times my country. Wow! I still haven’t got over that one yet. UP! in 3D! then.
AMY WINEHOUSE, QUINCY JONES AND DEMI LOVATO NEWS
Amy Winehouse has done a cover of It’s My Party for Quincy Jones (initial collaborating producer of Michael Jackson, The King of Pop) tribute album.
Though a tad bit nasally side, (a Winehouse vocal signature) this is Jewish soul via the UK. Hot, I reckon. Coming from a depth of human rights history in the world and survival and triumph — if you look at whose singing what for who.
This number is hard to beat.
In other news, young Disney-spun singer Demi Lovato takes the heat off her buddy Miley Cyrus’ parents’ alleged divorce scandal –by finishing her world tour early and clocking into rehab. The reasons given by her rep are (as obtained from TMZ.com) ‘Demi almost punched one of her dancer’s out’, then this: “Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time,” the statement read. “Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that. [Demi] regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future.”
This girl is probably needed to hang out with her bestie at this time. At least she quit her tour: a) a little bit ‘bad *ss rocker chick’ and b) with a very ‘Hollywood’ exit answer of ‘I’m not Disney perfect.’ Works a charm here. Rehab always sells an album when a star is in treatment.
The reasons Demi gives could apply to half the people in Hollywood City right now (or NYC, if you read the dailys and all the Obama whiplash hating going on). Who doesn’t have emotional issues on some level, in a yo-yo economy intersecting with “who are we now” intense self cultural-examination, underpinning a cultural revolution of introspection before rebuilding, the new.
I think Demi’s put herself right in the center of how people are feeling with her responsible reason of quitting her tour. She’s so much more relatable now. Not a kid, who wears the Mouse House’s ears. And when she gets out of rehab, she’ll transfer her new grown up outlook in life, onto her pal, Miley by hanging out with her a lot. It’s just how friends roll in this town for each other. You support, you block, you team up–to win.
This is Hollywood, so Demi will probably be cast in a kick-A action film, next. Like a ‘vengeance girl, fights back’ action storyline.
Wishing her all the best. She’s a tough kid. You have to be, to survive Hollywood, let alone Disney (eg: Timberlake, Spears, Cyrus all have too).

3D JACKSON ESTATE – IS THE MICHAEL JACKSON INSPIRED THRILLER FILM TO BE MADE IN 3D?
“In a world full of despair, you must still dare to believe”–imagination: Michael Jackson, King of Pop.
Michael Jackson, earned $275 million posthumously for his estate. His star template for entertainment distribution and spin off merch – is still America’s star template all emulate.
GK Films are negotiating to develop a feature film around MJ’s Thriller.
Real Effects Entertainment are shopping the idea to studios. Kenny Ortega is attached to direct, and The Hangover scribe Jeremy Garelick to write the screenplay. That’s funny publicity already.
GK are driving the film pitch but Fox 2000, Mandate/Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment are bidding too. The film budget is expected to make $50 million.
The song’s folklore, involving Vincent Price and the town he grew up in–is the basis of the film’s narrative’s plot line.
Thriller songwriter Rod Temperton is up in this mix too. Meanwhile, Cirque du Soleil is in talks to do two live shows based on Jackson’s music.
Montecito partners Ivan Reitman and Tom Pollock are developing a film that focuses on MJ’s earlier years as The King of Pop. Peter Schlessel -head of GK films is leading producing efforts on this film idea.
While at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Schlessel made the deal for This Is It!, a big earner for SPE, and it is likely that GK Films will distribute Thriller through its SPE output deal. UTA reps Garelick and Reel Effects, while Paradigm reps Ortega.
This report via Mike Fleming.
My thoughts are – if MJ was using 3D film technology in his This is It! Tour visual arts armory — shouldn’t this film be shot in 3D, like the future of Bollywood film?
Distribution: If Hollywood wants a piece of India’s entertainment than this is a good idea. No other artist has been downloaded more times than MJ in India’s entertainment history of music sales. 24% of all songs in India downloaded are MJ songs. Really Summit Entertainment should bid big, as they are the leading ‘werewolf’/ wolf pack kids in Hollywood.
We live in an age of the 3D Jackson Estate still furthering entertainment models and distributon strategies for American Ent. I dig. Before Jackson died he was all about Thinking Green to save the earth’s enviroment – and he was doing this in 3D.

LISA MARIE PRESLEY TALKS OF MICHAEL JACKSON TO OPRAH WINFREY
This is a meeting of big American celebrity names. Reports Pop Eater: ‘Lisa Marie told Oprah that she was in England when she heard the news of Michael Jackson‘s death and John Travolta was one of the first to break it to her.
When Oprah asked what she felt, she replied, “Real honest to goodness shock, not even tears. I was floored, honestly floored.”
On Jackson’s drug problem, she claims she didn’t notice until the very end of their marriage. “I didn’t really suspect and catch on until just before I filed for divorce. There was just an occasion, an incident where he had collapsed and he was in the hospital,” she described of the scene in 1995 when Jackson collapsed while rehearsing for an HBO concert and doctors blamed it on a viral infection.
“It was very confusing what was wrong. Every day there was a different report. And I couldn’t tell what was happening,” she added. “I couldn’t really get a straight answer about what was happening with him and I think we were all a little bit in the dark. At that point, I think I got from various indications that that was going on then.”
“There were times that I would pick him up from certain doctors’ offices and he would not be coherent,” Presley remembered.
Something she wanted to make clear, their romance was for real. “I honestly can tell you, it was every sense a normal marriage.”
“One of the very highest points of my life was when things were going really well and he and I were united together and he and I had an understanding about some of the people and things that could go on around him and he was with me on those things and we were a unit and I could take care of him,” she told Oprah.
“For some reason, I don’t know what happens when someone passes away and this is what’s come of it. But I’ve come to have all this love again and understanding for him. I don’t know why it had to take all that to have this happen. That upsets me a bit,” Presley opined.
“Were you angry with him before?” Oprah questioned.
“I was very angry. I was so angry. I felt that we were so united and then at some point he pushed me out.”
“There was a very profound point in the marriage when he had to make a decision — was it the drugs and the sort of vampires or me? And he pushed me away.”
She compared Jackson to her father, Elvis Presley. “The one thing that correlates with Michael and my father on this subject, they had the luxury of creating whatever reality around them they wanted to create.”
Winfrey brought up the similar way in which both her father and her ex-husband lived and died.
“It really blows me away, to be honest with you. I still try to figure out why? What is it that I had to go through this twice?” she recalled. “I went through it once, that was painful and I went through it again.”
She reveals that she wished she had reached out to Jackson before his death. “I know it’s naive to think that I could have (saved him) but I wanted to. Had I made a call, had I stopped being so shut off from him, had I just said ‘How are you?’ I really regret that I didn’t.”

MICHAEL JACKSON IS MUSIC HISTORY’S MOST DOWNLOADED ARTIST
“Michael Jackson has always been a pop music legend. But the anniversary of his death and birthday celebrations seem to have revived Jackson fever as fans rediscover his songs – making him the most popular solo artist of all time.”–Geoff Roberts, musicologist.
Michael was the talented artist, who continued to just get more eccentric as his fame increased, yet his fans loved him as a great artist who could transcend any culture better than most of us ever proved we could.
Lady Gaga, Elvis Presley, Black Eyed Peas and Rihanna are the next most downloaded artists of all time. Jackson’s popularity in India shows his cross-over appeal as an American into India’s cultural life. In India alone 26% of India’s total Ovi downloads are Jackson songs. The U.K, Germany, Netherlands and Finland were also all big fans of MJ.
Beat It is #1. Billie Jean second and Thriller was his 3rd most popular download. Here’s Lisa Marie starring with MJ in You Are Not Alone.

IN COURT: NAOMI CAMPBELL ON LIBERIA AND SIERRA LEONE
The LA Times are running with the Naomi Campbell story today. Front Page. Superdmodels testifying in war crimes tribunal court rooms aren’t typically the norm. But Naomi was always the trail blazing type of model, so we shouldn’t be surprised really. In spite of her temper and diva ‘tude, Naomi is doing some good to do in the world by being a star witness against war crimes. Go girl! She sparkles today as a humanitarian.
This from the Times: ”LEIDSCHENDAM, Netherlands — Naomi Campbell testified before a war crimes tribunal Thursday that she had received some “dirty-looking stones” after a 1997 dinner party with former Liberian ruler Charles Taylor. Still, the supermodel said she didn’t know if the stones were actually diamonds or if the gift came from Taylor himself.
10 POSTS YOU FIND AMUSING – 6.26.2010
Tonight, I’m on a date with you all. It’s um… riveting. Here’s ten things you find amusing as we take the time to remember the beauty of spirit in Farrah Fawcett and the musical genius of Michael Jackson who both passed away a year ago. People like them, can never be replaced as I write this at the feet of a lady who can never be replaced in this world either. Special souls.
Here’s a snap shot of U.S tonight. Thanks for showing your love on this blog. #10 is ‘my’ girl, Miley Cyrus.
1. Maori Opera with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa
2. Farrah Fawcett is remembered
3. Ariel View: Twilight Eclipse premiere night
4. Jared Leto is a cockatoo in Wales
7. Breaking News: Princess Kaiulani is in theaters
8. Dinner at Hamburger Hamlet with Ruta Lee & Co
9. Kellan Lutz as Robin for Halloween 2009
10. Fresh L.A ink: Miley Cyrus says Love is in the ear
As, I’ve never really pretended to be a legitimate celebrity blogger, with that catty tone that just gets more brittle over time–I’m more love, peace, mashed sweet potato yams and mung beans–here’s the entertaining Michael K of New York City, getting a spotlight in Los Angeles today, with his trademark snark, when covering the year anniversary of two of the greatest Angeleno’s who ever lived in California.
Says Mikey K: “It was just one year ago today when Michael Jackson slipped on his rhinestone glove for the last time and jumped on Farrah Fawcett piggyback-style to ride her golden feathery waves of glamour all the way to heaven (Theme song for that image: The Neverending Theme song).
Who could forget seeing Detective La Toya dramatically run out of the hospital, drop to her knees, raise her fists into the heavens and declare vengeance on the evil souls responsible for this. At the same time, Jaclyn Smith was across town doing the same thing over Farrah Fawcett’s passing. Okay, I was stoned like a Canadian this time last year, so maybe I remember it differently, but let’s just go with it anyways.” Isn’t Michael K, just a charm. What would America do without him?

RIHANNA STUDIES, THE ART OF CELEBRITY AS SOCIOLOGY AND A GQ BRITANNIA MAGAZINE COVER, DECEMBER 2010
I saw that The University of Carolina is offering a Major in Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame. Pop music as a vehicle of leadership in nationhood’s direction is what kids want to study. Really a University should be offering science and advanced mathematics or physics papers in the US in an effort to close the gap on Education being an equipping tool towards being viable competitors in the future direction of a global economy.
If sociology is a lure to get kids into college to see what it’s all about, all good–perhaps they should be offering a 2 hour lecture in Rihanna Studies instead though. Kids would learn just as much, although Rihanna is not technically an American citizen. Although shaping American culture so much as an artist, rather humorously, her visa status is still that of an alien. She is the USA’s Alien Queen of the 2010′s.
In 2008, Rihanna was ranked in the top four on google New Zealand trends for the year. Her live performances in Auckland The Supercity were well appreciated from fans. A then relatively unknown American leader (to the-wider-world), Barack Obama, also made the top ten in this innovative and perceptive trend-spotting small nation. At this time, New Zealand’s current Prime Minister, was not yet ranked in the top ten (Sir Edmund Hillary was instead, at no. 7) yet Rihanna and Mr Obama were on New Zealand’s cultural radar of people they like.
As a comparison, Australia ranked Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole Smith in their top ten and Mr Obama was not yet on the radar in Australia’s mindsets at all that same year in a significant way. Rihanna however (was ranked no.9 in Australia that year as a trend) denoting that she is a key figure and entertainer to the South Pacific and Asia Pacific territories. She was the only person of color in Australia’s top ten that year to ‘cross-over’ as an accepted trend, whereas New Zealand had 3 people of color trend that same year. It is fair to say, that as a star, leader and a cultural-architect artist of a modern world–that Rihanna is always a forerunner of the world’s elite leaders. This is her destiny as a person. Let’s look at what she’s gifted the American people, so far.
What would GQ be, without its Rihanna magazine covers in the US or Britannia? You need at least one Rihanna moment as your cover girl each year to be a successful men’s magazine. This girl is both pretty, tough and resilient in making a comeback when beaten down. She can also make a fashion accessory super hot–that all stars emulate and fashion designers incorporate into their styles of design. She’s the edge of trendsetting when she feels like playing the diva role.
She also gave America a powerful image of someone who recovered from post traumatic stress disorder of something unexpected that can hit a life in America, requiring a major rebuilding effort. Her Chris Brown domestic violence saga of the past catapulted Rihanna into superstar status. Resilience was added to her star exotic brand in that tragic moment of callous American mistreatment by young Chris towards a foreigner living and working in Los Angeles. That media moment was bloody awful. Thankfully Chris Brown has moved on from the incident too now, maturing from it also.
There has never been anyone who lived in Hollywood Hills, quite like Rihanna who has contributed to American culture in difficult years, offering hope or distraction or attitude or just good fun. She’s quite unique. Via Barbados and the Commonwealth, along with Beyonce she is the All American Girl inspirer of the last decade. Next year, I wonder if actor/ singer/ fashion sequer and stylist, Kat Graham, a newbie who is currently sporting top hats of British gentry of the UK, will get to land on GQ too?
In the meantime, here’s the hardworking Riri, amusing Britain with those looks. In the last 11 months, she’s just not stopped working. Respec. In fact Rihanna’s music accomplishments are second to none in America–she’s pop royalty and the Commonwealth’s black queen of pop. In 2008 when Rihanna performed live for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, she wore earrings reflecting the shape of the late Princess Diana‘s engagement ring, the same ring now being worn by Kate Middleton. With her symbology that constitutes pop star monarchy’s iconography, that millions of people worldwide follow–as symbols of empire that they think define them, Rihanna is always smart. Equally subtle as confrontation, a rare mix. Rihanna is a little naughty, she’s the only music artist to give the Queen a diva snear at the end of her performance, before she curtsied–an expression the Queen would never allow herself to do in public, even if she wanted to. The moment from Rihanna is cute.
Hitfix reports that Riri (who this blog is sorta named after too), is the no.1 charting artist of the millennium. The music website writes: “Only Girl In the World jumps to No. 1 this week, giving Rihanna her second single from Loud to hit the top spot. Two weeks ago, What’s My Name featuring Drake was at No. 1. Loud debuts at No. 3 this week on the Billboard 200.
Riri makes history. It is the first time (more…)
