THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – MON 12.20.10
Husband. What husband, says the UK when selecting their most favorite wedding pic of Nicole Richie‘s big wedding day with Benji Madden. UK media prefer a picture of American interracial and intergenerational family-star power with Nicole and her dad Lionel Richie for this magazine cover and an image of modern family.
A very sweet picture of Michael Jackson‘s god-daughter and her dad. What a beautiful bride, Richie was. Weddings, marriage romance, commitment in love from two people to each other rising above (through and past) current economic times and anything that politicians may (or may not) say– is the new trend of the 2010′s. Long live true love.

ARIANNA HUFFINGTON RIDES THE DIVORCE THEME FOR NEW BLOG CONTENT
[Image Dustin, Meryl, Justin Henry - Kramer Vs Kramer via TMZ]
Writes Meaghan Williams of Associated Content: “The Huffington Post, a progressive news-reporting and opinion-editorial-driven website started in 2005, is adding divorce to the list of topics granted its own section on the site. Now, in addition to opining about comedy, arts, news, sports and the like, Huffington Post writers will share primarily anecdotal stories about their divorce experiences, divorce-related news, and advice for people in the process of getting or recovering from a divorce.
In the section’s inaugural post, “Introducing HuffPost Divorce: Everything You Wanted to Know About Divorce But Were Afraid to Ask,” Arianna Huffington, eponymous founder of The Huffington Post, explains how divorce has affected her personally. We won’t get into how Arianna discovered why she needed a divorce, it’s a tad bit shocking. But I do think the whole ‘divorce section’ is another way of processing peoples grief, loss, rendering apart, in current conditions.”
BOLLYWOOD POETIC ROMANCE – HARD MAN VIVEK OBEROI WAXES POETICAL FOR BRIDE PRIYANKA ALVA
Alright, we interupt our American Halloween Show from California to bring some exciting news from Bollywood. It can’t be about Hollywood or Wellywood New Zealand news – all the time! Kiwi celebrity Hollywood bloggers like to share our celebrity focus and global spotlighting skills.
At the time of writing America is obsessing about a Bollywood-Political union of the romantic kind. A man really did marry a woman in India. That’s big news in America. The 7th trending topic in the US right now.
In particular, Vivek Oberoi whose Bollywood’s leading lad at playing an angry young man onscreen in blockbuster Bollywood films, has gone all gooey in the heart, waxing poetical for new wife (married October 29th) Priyanka Alva. A cute story:
Filmitadka reports: ‘In Vivek’s poems, one can feel the sadness yet optimism from a man’s point of view who has been through everything, check out what he wrote – “In a world of only two people who are each other’s world…”
“Every day with her (Priyanka) is a blessing. In a world full of storms, she’s my anchor. I live in a world of masks. I needed someone as real as she is. She is my home. She’s the one I can come home to. She has changed my life”.
‘Priyanka Alva is the daughter of Late Jeevaraj Alva, politician in Karnataka and danseuse Nandini Alva, Vivek and Priyanka married on 29th October.’
A sweet story.

KAYTE AND DEAN GODWARD MARRY IN RAROTONGA
Writes brotha Dean Godward: “Kayte and myself tied the knot in Rarotonga on the 16th of October 2010. We had a lovely simple wedding and became husband and wife on the shores of Muri Beach. Arohanui”
Congratulations to the exotic, romantically married Godward whanau. Marriage is down in the US, the lowest in 15 years, so this is mighty fine news as leaders of the domestic bliss world.
Dig it. Who said you need the 20k wedding? Just a beach and some palm trees is all love needs. Very cool.

HALLE BERRY HUGS A MAN, NOT OLIVER MARTINEZ IN NYC
Halle Berry is living up to her bachelorette status today. Here she is, hugging a mystery man, not Oliver Martinez in New York.
Too funny. She’s a reminder, of how media, entertainment blogs, social networking media and the internet and entertainment TV and radio shows, can all base too much hype, on short flings – that aren’t news worthy.
And she also questions, those celebrity couples with bogus ‘marriages’? who just appear in public together, to make bucks with movie goers. Let’s face it, a real marriage is a lot of hard work, so couples who pretend they’re doing that work, and growing as committed people together (like any relationship where people are ‘working at it’), when they’re not really – Halle’s statement is – hey pretenders, just date.
Love it. Oh – plus you can see her scalp. His too.

IS MARRIAGE MORE IMPORTANT THAN A COUPLES SALARIES?
[An engaged couple pose in the Hinnant Family vineyard. Americans are marrying later, if at all due to the mean grip of recession requiring a romantic cultural redefinement of true love and its value. Marriage is a commitment of love - people deserve to try, in order to be better, or worse, people. Marriage is a choice and are America's choices being eroded from them due to economics? If so, why?].
Love Vs Money in a consumer culture, is always going to be one of those things a culture has to revisit, re-evaluate, re-define what love is, and when you should get married anyway, if you love someone, regardless of what economic times any of us live in.
This report via The Huffington Post, says America’s marriage rate is the lowest in 100 years, due to recession romance buzz-kill factors.
Here’s that report via Census Data findings: “WASHINGTON — The recession seems to be socking Americans in the heart as well as the wallet: Marriages have hit an all-time low while pleas for food stamps have reached a record high and the gap between rich and poor has grown to its widest ever.
The long recession technically ended in mid-2009, economists say, but U.S. Census data released Tuesday show the painful, lingering effects. The annual survey covers all of last year, when unemployment skyrocketed to 10 percent, and the jobless rate is still a stubbornly high 9.6 percent.
The figures also show that Americans on average have been spending about 36 fewer minutes in the office per week and are stuck in traffic a bit less than they had been.”
The weddings industry must be suffering. And potential generations of American leaders are being held off, not born, like they should be – at our forefather’s expense and mistakes. Come on America – Courage to Marry beyond a salary! Up!
I don’t think a World Banking system or any nation’s political government, should determine who marries and when they can, if love is present. That would be criminal romance monitoring - and in America we do democracy and liberty, love and longterm commitment. Right?!
What can we all do – to make the word marriage, no longer a swear word? And is there a cork in America’s womb of next generation babies, coming through?

ANNA PAQUIN AND STEPHEN MOYER MARRY IN MALIBU
Canadian-born and Kiwi raised actor, Ms Anna Paquin is now Mrs Moyer. From an A.P to an A.M is an upgrade, for sure. :)
True Blood star Stephen Moyer wed his sweetheart, Saturday evening, in Malibu, said their publicist to Us Magazine.Com.
”Surrounded by their family and friends,” guests came bearing gifts in purple boxes and with purple bows in a list that included Elijah Wood and True Blood costar Carrie Preston with her husband Michael Emerson (Lost).
Paquin, 28, and Moyer, 40, wed Middle Eastern styles, ie: they exchanged their vows beneath a ten. Like many Kiwi weddings the star couple’s tent was pitched right across the street in a grassy lot from the beach.
Bleach-blonde Paquin, 28, summoned Marilyn Monroe for her look: she wore a white halterneck, three-quarter length gown and black platform court shoes, with her hair in an updo. Moyer, 40, donned a dark suit.
California love. Congrats to the happy couple!!

INTER-MARRIAGE ROCKS FORWARD IN AMERICA 2010′S
True fact.: When my father was 11 years-of-age, and on beach camping with his parents, part of the entertainment in New Zealand, was the outdoor screening of Broken Barrier by filmmaker John O’Shea in black and white. In the film, a white man, fell in love with a Maori girl, not his ‘kind.’
After the screening, my father’s mother said to dad: “”I took you to see this film, because it proves why you shouldn’t marry someone who is not your own ‘race.’”
Thankfully film is about an audience deciding their own interpretation. At 11, my father decided, this was exactly the reason, he was to marry a Maori girl. He did.
Here’s that same rather ‘archaic’ “situation” rearing its head, in America. More specifically the topic in intermarrage and how it is on the upswing in America. Here’s the AP with the latest:
“Rogelio V. Solis / AP
NEW YORK — The charisma king of the 2008 presidential field. The world’s best golfer. The captain of the New York Yankees. Besides superstardom, Barack Obama, Tiger Woods and Derek Jeter have another common bond: Each is the child of an interracial marriage.
For most of U.S. history, in most communities, such unions were taboo.
It was only 40 years ago (more…)
A HAWAIIAN WEDDING: MEGAN FOX AND BRIAN AUSTIN GREEN
Sandra Bullock is now divorced. However, marriage for two Californian kids was in the air last week.
Star is reporting with TMZ confirming that The Four Seasons Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu on the big island of Hawaii was the venue where Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green chose to secretly tie the knot, with friends and family. What a romantic wedding location for an A-List actress and her film directing hubby.

SMITH SCOOTMORE FOR FUN: HUGH JACKMAN’S TRIPLE THREAT SMILE IS WINNER :)
He sings, dances, acts. Hugh Jackman is a triple threat entertainer, a playful Aussie dad who is all about feeding the child within when going about his business, between stepping into the role of an American super hero (Hollywood accents, are largely the currency of Hollywood super heroes today, for Aussie actors), whose part wolf man whose been constructed through medical science and biogenetics creativity with steel hands (a la Wolverine, now a winning film franchise.

ROBERT DOWNEY JR. ON CONTENTMENT IN LOVE AND MARRIAGE
Says Iron Man 2 star Robert Downey Jr. of love and married life to his wife, film producer, Susan Levin:
“He said: “I don’t joke when I say she is my better half. She truly is. I cannot believe what a fantastic life I have today. But here’s the thing, she didn’t change me at all. She just gave me an ultimatum at a certain point.
Ultimately, we both changed a lot so that now I can’t ever imagine a life before her. I’ve certainly come to believe that Mrs. Downey and I together are definitely better than me alone or me and anybody else.”
Awww! How sweet.

KHLOE KARDASHIAN ON MARRYING LAMAR ODOM AFTER A MONTH
“I do realize that marrying Lamar Odom, a month to the day after we met is a bit unusual, but my mom married Bruce Jenner, after 4 months of meeting each other and they are very happily married. In our family, just know when you love someone”–Khloe Kardashian to the women of The View

QUOTE OF THE DAY: MADONNA ON MARRYING AGAIN
“I would rather get run over by a train, then get married again”–Madonna to David Letterman.
Someone needs a little love counseling therapy perhaps. Marriage is a beautiful thing. But Madonna’s sentiment today, is a quote of quotes for anyone whose just recently been divorced.
We hear and acknowledge your pain, sister!
QUOTE OF THE DAY: LAMAR ODOM ON KHLOE KARDASHIAN
Newlywed Lamar Odom, talks about his marriage to Khloe Kardashian. Lamar says:
“I finally met the one that I knew if had I lost her, it would hurt the most.”
That is so sweet!
Meanwhile… Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian all get a magazine cover. These girls roll tight. Family-mindedness is a good virtue.
Congrats to the newlyweds. Lamar Odom is the next Kobe Bryant for LA Lakers!
EVERYONE WANTS ANGELINA JOLIE AND BRAD PITT TO MARRY IN HOLLYWOOD TODAY!
With a fairy-tale styled Hollywood wedding in the air today here in Los Angeles, as Khloe Kardashian reality TV star and LA Lakers sports star, Lamar Odom marry, it is not these two newlyweds, who America is watching.
Yet somehow, Americans have a great majestic sense of royalty. Many feel that magazine column inches, internet coverage and TV entertainment news coverage should belong to people who are worthy. Like A-List humanitarian glamourous stars and not necessarily realty TV wannabes. So this sense of need for a restoration of order in the star system is very prevalent in Hollywood today. This city is the gatekeeper of the global stars of entertainment in the Western World..
A good point perhaps worthy of discussing.
On Horiwood.Com today, voters are indicating that they really want to see a wedding from Brad Pitt and Angelina if the Hollywood King and Queenly couple are to marry. This fake wedding pic from the Mr & Mrs Smith movie shoot is the #1 most requested item on Horiwood.Com today in Hollywood. (more…)
IT HAS TO BE SAID…
… that Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are moving way too slow. They really should be getting married on Saturday! not Sunday. Come on guys, lift ya game!
TWO TABLOIDS LIE ABOUT TWO HIGH PROFILE CELEBRITY RELATIONSHIPS
If we had to give the wooden spoon award today and paddle two tabloids lying behinds, we’d have to give InTouch Weekly Magazine and Star Magazine a wee spanking for two of the most untrue covers in the tabloid game this week.
First up, InTouch run with a story that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have separated. Then Star Magazine says that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott’s marriage is a sham and based just on the money that the couple (mainly Tori) earn.
Spelling did what any decent celebrity did about the matter. She gave it 30 seconds of thought only 2 x and then tweeted her replies. Spelling tweeted:
“Just got word tht STAR Mag WillB running a story tomorrow about my “Loveless Marriage” R they kiddin? DON’T believe! Uggh.Hate tabloid lies!”2:09 PM Sep 1st from TwitterBerry
“Dean & I read STAR 2gthr & were grossed out @ uncreative lies but made us appreciate R life & love more & made us sad 4 those tht spread lies.Bad Mo Jo!”
I love twitter. It put lies to rest asap. Brad and Angie don’t even bother tweeting, they’re too busy making baby no 7, in between all of their commitments in film, entertainment, human rights issues and being there for their children. It’s so important to celebrate love and happiness and not try and snatch it off others. Shame on InTouch and Star Magazine this week! Shockers!

BRAD PITT IS INTENT ON OUTING GEORGE CLOONEY IN HOLLLYWOOD
Ellen deGeneres is not the only one trying to out George Clooney in Hollywood. Jokes Brad Pitt:
“Angie and I will not be getting married until George and his partner can legally do so,” Pitt joked with People Magazine while cutting his buddy, George Clooney into his latest political campaign for better effect.
I wonder what George thinks of Brad’s sense of humor.
