KEEPING UP WITH THE KARDASHIANS AND CHRISTMAS MIRACLES FOR FAMILIES HAVING BABIES

“Children are a blessing from the Lord”–King Solomon

It’s a good thing that some families are conscious about having babies on the family social agenda radar. Birth rates and marriage rates in the USA are at an all time low right now at time of writing. In a global world, there’s always adoption from other nations. But it is good to adopt as well as families breeding too, if they’re brave. Kids are full on these days, so you need big shoulders to take on parenting in any capacity, I reckon. A nations greatest treasure are its elderly and its children. Between these two points we are all strung like pearls on an evolving cultural continuum of society.

According to OK! Magazine of America, The Kardashians are all about baby love focus in 2011 and the 2010′s. Sounds good to me. In my family, we have a beautiful bundle of joy about to arrive any day now. So exciting! A new level of family leadership emerges. This one, I think on the sports field. I just have that vibe.

Let’s get back to the Kardashians in Hollywood. OK! reports: “as they celebrate the holidays, the Kardashians are ready for a Christmas miracle — more babies to add to the family in 2011.”

Let’s hope this family gets as many family miracles as they hope for in the years ahead here in California.

KEO SPORTS WEBSITE, BIG BEASTS OF THE GAME AND SOUTH AFRICA’S RUGBY NEWS COVERAGE

Rugby football news coverage in South Africa today doesn’t get much better than Keo.Co.Za. Here’s the latest scoop on what’s happening with The Boks. Already I’m liking Keo. A sports website that’s quite blunt.

‘The Springboks failed to make any progress on their end-of-year tour. Is Victor Matfield too conservative to be Bok captain? The All Blacks capped off an outstanding 2010 with their third Grand Slam in five years. The Wallabies were frustratingly inconsistent on their end-of-year tour. If England are to seriously challenge for the World Cup, they will have to stand up to the big beasts of the game. Behind the swagger lies a secret diary that is driving England wing Chris Ashton to new heights.’

Just some of the newsy stories on Keo’s sports news agenda today. Kia Ora South Africa in the Hollywood Horiwood Haus. Haere mai – Welcome.

JESSICA WATSON, OPRAH WINFREY AND YOU KNOW WHEN YOU’RE A GLOBAL ENTERTAINMENT BRAND WHEN

You know when you’re a global entertainment brand when: These things (advertisements from entertainment companies featured below) start appearing above your blog posts’ search engine items on Google in Hollywood as people pay Google to put their ads above your posts. Who ever would have thought that would happen?!

Oh… and Oprah wanted to be a sailer for a nanosecond and dreamed that she would and could be–just so she could say that for a cool magazine interview in LA’s Parade Magazine, after leaving Chicago and heading to California to start her new TV network. In the interview her comments about television are so deep. (See bold bits).

I think for a split nano-second the big O wanted to be a very popular Australian sailing teen, like Jessica Watson (above). Why not?!!! Even role models need role models. Oprah’s found hers this year. By the way Jessica is a blogger too. She has her own merch and online store. Read Winfrey’s thoughts on sailing below these crazy ads. It’s so meshugenah that people are making money off this blog. ;)

Says Oprah: “I was questioning, Why don’t I build a boat and sail around the world? Why don’t I learn French and find a nice little house in Provence? I could see myself bicycling with my baguettes and the whole thing. But I talked it over with my friends, and they all said, ‘You’re not going to be happy doing nothing.’ What will be a failure is if nobody comes and watches this network. What others will perceive as failure is if some shows don’t succeed. I’m concerned about the bigger overall picture: my belief that people are basically good and want to see the good in them reflected through their experiences and the shows that they watch. This is a gamble I’m taking. I believe that the banal state of television, the kind of insipid space that we’re in–that you can have as many channels as we have and not find anything that really interests you–means that to a great extent we’ve lost our way.”

HUGH LAURIE ON THE SHOCK HORRORS OF CONTINUING THE AMERICAN ACCENT AS A TV DOCTOR FOR 7 YEARS

Yabbering on from the magazine pages of GQ France, much awarded British actor, Hugh Laurie is riding the coat tails of his House MD costar, Olivia Wilde‘s new box office success (Tron: Legacy).

In Hollywood it always pays to back younger stars, because they become your insurance plan later in life. Seriously though, the very talented Hugh talks about the unexpected events in his California life at getting to talk in an American accent in a hospital fake setting–for six years longer than he thought would happen. He’s fun, as ever.

On House MD‘s ongoing success: When I auditioned, I thought that within two weeks it would all be over. I had not imagined that seven years later, we would still be here. At the same time, it was a good script with a complex role. I appreciated the series in its entirety– clever, funny, with the ability to express different tones. Sometimes witty, dramatic, funny, other times clownish. I found that original, I understood the character.

On the art of acting with an American accent: Frankly, I have no technique. It takes practice. There are words that I cannot say such as “murder” or “girlfriend.” Too many “r”s. I used a coach for like, 20 minutes! Terribly useless. I should not say that, it will annoy people in Hollywood. Seriously, I’m not convinced by the method. I’ve never had any acting training. Sometimes I feel guilty: Sometimes I feel fragile and I would love to posses the knowhow. But I’m not sure you can teach actors how to speak.

Isn’t he the funniest? He’s like the Jon Hamm of hospital sets drama. He keeps getting quirkier with time.

THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – MON 12.20.10

Husband. What husband, says the UK when selecting their most favorite wedding pic of Nicole Richie‘s big wedding day with Benji Madden. UK media prefer a picture of American interracial and intergenerational family-star power with Nicole and her dad Lionel Richie for this magazine cover and an image of modern family.

A very sweet picture of Michael Jackson‘s god-daughter and her dad. What a beautiful bride, Richie was. Weddings, marriage romance, commitment in love from two people to each other rising above (through and past) current economic times and anything that politicians may (or may not) say– is the new trend of the 2010′s. Long live true love.

OLIVIA WILDE IS VERY LARA FLYNN BOYLE ON FLAUNT MAGAZINE’S COVER

Olivia Wilde is a sex symbol Hollywood is currently grooming for action films. She’s paying her dues in magazines currently.

You can’t help but think: Girl, eat something! Flaunt some meat on your bones. Get some buttons. *jokes*

Her movie Tron Legacy is sure to be a hit with Transformer film franchise fans and video games peeps. The trailer of TL can be watched here.

Last year Olivia was the 55th top ranked star in Hollywood on this blog. She lucked out to Megan Fox being dubbed ‘the next most potential star to walk in Angelina Jolie‘s action star shoes’–but this year she’s made headway. Good things comes to those who, wait and work harder. 2011 is her year. Go kid!

JULIAN ASSANGE IS FEATURED ON TIME MAGAZINE’S COVER

Amazon and Paypal have dumped Julian Assange –yet Time Magazine features the Wikileaks guy on their cover this week (via Media Bistro).

Business Insider lists The five things Rick Stengel, Time‘s managing editor discovered Assange thinks when he interviewed him. As quoted from biz insider, they are:

Here are our five favorite quotes from the interview:

  • “[T]his sort of nonsense about lives being put in jeopardy is trotted out every time a big military or intelligence organization is exposed by the press.”
  • “I just noticed today Iran has agreed to nuclear talks. Maybe that’s coincidence or maybe it’s coming out of this process…” (more…)

VARIETY GETS A LITTLE CARRIED AWAY WITH CHRIS NOLAN ACCOLADES

Chris Nolan rocked it in The Dark Knight–but for Inception, although it was novel writing with toying with a traditional timeline narrative device… Variety takes it a little too far by saying Nolan is the slyest tactician in the game of movie storytelling. Nolan needs to get right off Sly Stallone’s name and movie markets with that tag-line. He has a wee ways to go before he’s the next James Cameron.

The magazine also uses the word “transporting.” At one point in Inception, Nolan transported myself and my movie ‘date’ to sleep in our chairs. Okay, it was only for ten minutes, but what is Variety raving on about here on their cover?

I felt the same way Native American Indian actor Alex Meraz did when he said “I didn’t go to a movie to see actors sleep onscreen.” True that.

His chemotherapy he described as a being a “hellhole” to endure.

Here’s wishing Michael Douglas a better year in 2011. Leslie Nielsen‘s life and career is remembered too.

MARLON BRANDO’S FAVORITE ACTOR, JOHNNY DEPP ON UPPER-ECHELON DISNEYITES AS HE COVERS VANITY FAIR WITH AN INTERVIEW

America’s no.1 celebrity ranking actor last year Johnny Depp has a few things to say about Disney, Angelina Jolie, Marlon Brando and Liz Taylor in his Vanity Fair interview. Read this:

Johnny Depp on his “Jack Sparrow” and Disney thinking Pirates of The Caribbean was a little gay: “They couldn’t stand him. They just couldn’t stand him. I think it was Michael Eisner, the head of Disney at the time, who was quoted as saying, ‘He’s ruining the movie.’ Upper-echelon Disney-ites, going, What’s wrong with him? Is he, you know, like some kind of weird simpleton? Is he drunk? By the way, is he gay?… And so I actually told this woman who was the Disney-ite… ‘But didn’t you know that all my characters are gay?’ Which really made her nervous.”

Depp on Shakespeare, Marlon Brando’s Influence & Hamlet: “[Marlon Brando said,] Why don’t you just take a year and go and study Shakespeare, or go and study Hamlet. Go and work on Hamlet and play that part. Play that part before you’re too old…. So what he was trying to tell me was: play that part, man. Play that part before you’re too long in the tooth. Play it. And I would like to. I’d really, really like to.”

Johnny as Angelina Jolie’s Gallant Publicist: “Poor thing, dogged by paparazzi, her and her husband, Brad…all their kids. There are times when you see how ridiculous is this life, how ludicrous it is, you know, leaving your house every morning and being followed by paparazzi. [We'd have] to hide, sometimes not even being able to talk to each other in public because someone will take a photograph and it will be misconstrued and turned into some other shit.”

Depp on Jolie is another Elizabeth Taylor: “I’ve had the honor and the pleasure and gift of having known Elizabeth Taylor for a number of years. You know, you sit down with her, she slings hash, she sits there and cusses like a sailor, and she’s hilarious. Angie’s got the same kind of thing, you know, the same approach.”

But who is Johnny Depp? No one really knows. Perhaps one of the reasons why we love him in movies worldwide.

Patti Smith did the interview with Johnny for Vanity Fair.

BOSNIA’S EMOTIONAL TRANSFERENCE ISSUES AND ANGELINA JOLIE DECIDES TO FILM IN HUNGARY

So much about being a leader today, is allowing yourself to be a target of others emotional transference issues of past grievances.

You can see this occurring with the Obamas right now as leaders of America. It’s also occurring with debut film director Angelina Jolie in Bosnia.

Reports The Associated Press: “ARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina — Angelina Jolie has cut short the shooting of her first movie in Bosnia, her producer said, after rumors that it portrayed a relationship between a rapist and his victim sparked protests from women assaulted during the Bosnian War.

Jolie had originally planned to shoot scenes for her movie for about ten days in Bosnia, but now her crew will film the scenes in just three or four days, said Edin Sarkic, Jolie’s Bosnian producer. Jolie herself will only briefly visit the set, he said.

The change of plans came after rumors surrounding the movie’s storyline angered an association of women raped during the war in Bosnia who heard the film was about a rape victim falling in love with her rapist. They pressured city officials to withdraw Jolie’s filming permit in October.

Mass rape was a taboo topic in the immediate aftermath of the country’s 1992-95 war between Serb and Bosnian Muslim forces but since then victims have formed a group to campaign for their rights, which has become one of the country’s most powerful lobbies.”

There’s only so much a friend can take. Being a leader is always about being a friend. To put yourself into a hot seat of heated underlying debate and humanitarian issues, is something that Angelina Jolie excels at. She loves drawing out controversy and getting people talking as a part of their remedial recovery as nations of people, by just turning up and putting a spotlight on them as ‘a tourist.’

Barack Obama on the other hand, has it tougher. You can’t be a tourist in your own nation, so I feel sorry for him as he’s copping every racial slur in the book, every religious bigoted fear and slur as well –in addition to being castigated for previous governance models, extraction of cash from the average American person–who pay for an elite order of peoples sense of entitlement, further compounding America’s debt situation.

All of the attacks on Obama are largely due to facilitating ‘emotional transference issues’ of the American people on this man, his wife and family. However, it’s not like he can do an Angelina Jolie, and ‘quit a tough location’ by taking leadership somewhere else a little easier. Wishing Washington and Hollywood in Hungary all the best, navigating these emotional minefields this week! Both Obama and Angie, could just stick to being Magazine cover models, but they choose to facilitate change. Good for them. Here’s Jolie’s latest magazine cover for December Vogue.

In the magazine she claims: her 6-year-old son Pax is a better cook than she is. The article, offers readers a rare glimpse inside the Jolie-Pitt household with its six kids, bulldog named Jacques and nannies who speak Vietnamese to Pax and Cambodian to Maddox. With good humor, Hollywood’s leading lady claims that 9 year-old son Maddox raised her. Lol! Love it.

THE JEWISH JOURNAL LOOKS AT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

The cover of The Jewish Journal of Greater Los Angeles tackles the topic of domestic violence head on this week.

The neat thing about the article that accompanies this dramatic cover, is that the story actually examines the effects of “verbal violence.”

The emphasize is put on ‘violence of the tongue’ or ‘words’ or ‘intention of words’ that can brutalized another’s emotional reservoirs — or emotional currency. What I have found living in L.A is that emotional currency has a direct impact on energy investment into creating new things for a society including its economy. I like the theme of this article, as although it uses domestic violence as its platform its much more nuanced in commenting on society at large.

So clever. Long before there’s a war of fists and violence, there’s always a war of words and misunderstandings. These days, many are trying to capture others ‘emotional capacity,’ as if to do that, makes someone more powerful than another. It’s a sickness, that equates to violence in a war of words.

The Jewish Journal focuses on attitudes as reflected in our words one to another. Deep as always from The Jewish Journal. I like this magazine a lot.

MORE MS. HATHAWAY AND MR GYLLENHAAL

In Hollywood it’s one of the bains of this town, that you can never garner enough attention. Garnering in attention is an L.A artform few do better, because attention = money, reputation, fame, political effect–apparently.

Most days I find it rather exhausting tracking who needs more attention than others, because it all boils down to, for what purpose are you using your fame?

For example, Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal have produced not one but three magazine cover images for Entertainment Weekly. Subtext: we are three times hotter than other stars, for a laugh.

But are these two: a) saving the planet with an environmentally friendly message, or b) helping kids out in Rwanda like a singer like Brooke Fraser does each year or c) even feeding people in Los Angeles – that doubles as the Homeless Capitol of America?

Nah! They’re just doing it for themselves. One day though – we’ll wake up in a new America where stars do it differently. In the meantime, they are funny–and humor is perhaps the greatest American art form of them all.

The last cover of H & G – was from UK Daily Mail, let’s go with New York’s D-listed website, with cover II then. Cover three coming up soon.

LORD OF THE RINGS – PRINCE WILLIAM’S PRINCESS DIANNA TRIBUTE AS A SYMBOL OF HIS LOVE FOR KATE MIDDLETON

How romantic. In turning up for a photo call with the British Media – Prince William Windsor and his bride to be Kate Middleton both looked a picture of love and all things romantic pertaining to a lifelong commitment to each other and inspiring growth and well being for a Commonwealth Empire.

Their engagement ring belonged to Princess Dianna of Wales and of the ring appearing on Kate’s finger as her engagement ring, Prince William had this to say:

“It is very special to me. It was my way to make sure my mother did not miss out on today and the excitement that we are going to spend the rest of our lives together.”

What a sweet thing to say and do. I don’t thing anyone in celebrity land can trump that. This couple are the super romantics of their generation. Needless to say, the woman that last wore this ring had one of the greatest hearts of compassion of any humanitarian of the modern world. Perhaps Kate as the wearer of this ring, will do the same in the world. But no pressure! :)

Image below of Prince William on his debut public presentation to the world, when his mother chose Waitangi of the Bay of Islands, Northland, New Zealand to present this crown Prince to the world’s eyes.

She was a great woman who chose for her son’s presentation to be surrounded with songs, color and beauty of the Ngapuhi, Ngati Hine,  Te Rarawa, Te Aupouri maori tribes of New Zealand. On his presentation day to the world’s gaze, he was surrounded by the sounds of Te Reo Rangatira (or, the language of Chiefs). Below is a song, that was sung on this day, called Te Whare e Tu Nei – written by songwriter of Matauri Bay, Katerina Mataira - whose name ironically means Katherine in English. Her song’s title when translated means, This House That Stands. Diana had  impeccable taste that her son seems to have inherited in his choice of a wife and a star maker of leaders of a modern world faced with new challenges, requiring a gift of wisdom to be creative towards sustainability in the world’s good future.

It’s nice to see William honor his mother by bringing her engagement ring back into play in the eyes of the world, as a homage to a woman who never saw this Kiwi-presented future King’s engagement day. It’s like full circle of their bond reclaimed in honoring Diana’s memory and his new love with Kate.

A wooden buzzy bee Kiwi-made child’s toy was the first paparazzi photographed item, Prince William ever owned to amuse audiences worldwide. The toy that is made of wood is iconic to New Zealand. This one as featured on the cover of North & South magazine, courtesy of Buzzy Bee.Co.NZ .

Prince William is like every Kiwi’s little brother in a sense of those who watched his parents marry in 1981. Myself, being just one of many, now blogging about this momentus day in his life from California. Surreal stuff. To visit Waitangi for yourself – a right of passage for all people in the U.K who have followed the royals for years, go here to discover more on how to do that. It’s the region where I grew up.

JOHNNY DEPP AND ANGELINA JOLIE BRING HOLLYWOOD’S AND ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY’S MAGAZINE COVER OF THE YEAR

Says mega box office earner, Johnny Depp in this cover of the year for Entertainment Weekly in Hollywood:

“So much has been written about Angie and Brad [Pitt]. They’re sort of the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton of our era. I knew she was a big star, but I didn’t know what to expect…”

The star cinematic couple say that both had never met before working on their new film. Hot Magazine cover, as an alternative from a Brad and Angie cover, or a Johnny Depp magazine cover too.

Their billboards are everywhere in Hollywood. I’ll get you a snap shot of one, twenty yards from my place, tomorrow here in the hood. The French-friendly American movie stars are looking good.
