REFORMED HEROIN ADDICT HELEN BAYLOR, SINGS ALL OF ME, FOR CHRISTMAS 2010

“Mould me in your hands, into a vessel you can use”–song lyrics, the incomparable Helen Baylor

At this minute in Hollywood, a certain malpracticing ‘doctor’ has been accusing a certain A-Listed actress of being a non-reformed and current heroin addict, for his own try hard publicity. This woman has children. And he’s doing this at Christmas time. What a raping grinch!

This is what a real reformed heroin addict does look like. Drug addiction is a disease like any other that is nothing to be proud of or ashamed of either. It’s just something that some good people are or have been afflicted by. Many people in Hollywood, New York and Australia are afflicted by heroine addiction.

This real reformed heroine addict (above) is so beautiful on the inside. Her name is Helen Baylor and for our West Hollywood Christmas Special, Helen sings All of Me live, because in her life, she credits overcoming heroin dependancy on her faith in God. In this song she offers up her life as a broken gift, full of the good, the bad and the plain ugly facts of her life. So powerful! Ms. Baylor makes me bawl my face off when she sings. If you hear her life story, you’ll bawl your face off too. Yet Helen ‘aint ever graced a cover of a tabloid or a visible-to-all magazine. Why is that I wonder? She’s a total winner.

I love her. Stars don’t get more real than Helen Baylor this Christmas. Her story belongs in a future Hollywood film. Helen Baylor’s life is the freaking Christmas story. No one can deny Helen her Christmas story. If you tried, she’d sing you out of the ball park. Go lady! Sing the Christmas blues. Merry Christmas people, especially ya’ll in West Hollywood. This year we are celebrating grinch-freeness in our lives at Christmas.

We are celebrating living lives beyond lies and falsity too. 2011′s hot American goal. It’s actually a miracle many of us are even having a Christmas this year and that we are choosing to. Truly, it is. We overcame a lot this year in two years of the most hideous economy ever, where we still watched the greedy get greedier and act like spoiled children, more uglier to me than heroine addicts are, wanting more so blatantly. That stuff was sick! Average people perhaps like ourselves all got a bit thinner and came out on top this year, still smiling. Wow! How cool are all you people? You’re the best!  Let’s keep at it then. Grinch-kicking has become my new sport. Join me in it, in making the world a sweeter place in 2011. Meanness, stingyness (the flipside of greed), let’s kick it to the curb when we see it, to win. Up!

Click on Helen’s picture above to see a winner shine drug free. Her gratitude is medicine. Can’t get enough of her spirit to celebrate living life to the fullest with healthy respect for the gift of life. Wow!

A SHANIA TWAIN FESTIVE GREETING SPEAKS OF LOVE

Shania Twain who is an occasional resident of Queenstown, New Zealand (pictured below) and who has may-jah fans in Australia writes an email that’s uploaded to her blog for fans.

Seasons greetings to all!

I’ve spent much time over the course of this past year, learning about others who have suffered loss in their lives and taken inspiration from how they’ve managed to overcome it. I’m learning that grief and the suffering of loss, challenges me to be more sensitive and understanding of other’s and also more accepting of my own struggles.  Challenge reminds me how important it is to let those who love me, care for me when I need it.  The support of others has helped me to move forward less fearful of change, allowing me to embrace the beauty of life today and remain more open to whatever it brings tomorrow.

The people who make my life the most joyful are the ones I am able to lean on because of my own humanness.   (more…)

SHOUT TO THE LORD AS A HOLLYWOOD CHRISTMAS CAROL

Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of your name. I sing for joy at the work of your hands. Forever I’ll love you forever I’ll stand. Nothing compares to the promise I have in you.–song lyrics of Darlene Zschech.

It’s Christmas Time in Hollywood California. I don’t know why I’m so excited about Christmas this year, however it is exciting! In the festive spirit of Christmas, here’s Shout to the Lord a song that has sold around the world more than most pop star’s can claim selling a number 1 hit as sung by the cast of American Idol one year.

The song is written by Australian singer/ songwriter Darlene Zschech who started life as a child model doing Coppertone tanning lotion advertisements.

May you always know your great promise this Christmas. Merry Christmas from West Hollywood. :)

A BEN LUMMIS CHRISTMAS – THEY CAN’T TAKE THAT AWAY – HOLLYWOOD 2010

Christmas is about possessing a spirit of compassion–to give away richly. Got spirit?

It’s Christmas time in the City of Angels, California USA. I’m so excited I’m here for that. It’s a Christmas miracle that I am (long story!).

The moment I most associate with a Christmas feeling in the Entertainment Capitol of the World this year is perhaps Ben Lummis singing They Can’t Take That Away live in 2006. Lummis has vocal quality few American male stars that have been manufactured in the last five years show. He’s the real deal singing star. He’s more like Usher in terms of true vocal quality as a live performer than someone like T-Pain for example.

Ben’s winning performance of when he got discovered is a Hollywood-worthy moment to me as it reflects how trends created in California can and do cross cultures, effortlessly across the world too, (more…)

JOHN KEY SINGS: SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO — LONDON AND HAWAII

New Zealand’s Prime Minister appeared on The Edge radio station to warble a Christmas ditty before he jets out with family for the holiday season. Topics of conversation were: What to get Will & Kate for their wedding present next year, a niece’s wedding in London and enjoying mohitos and corn-fed beef in Hawaii where The Keys plans to vacation this year.

Go here to see the flattest rendition of this song in any Kiwi pub’s history, but hey, 200% effort for leaping in and being a sport. What a hoot. Happy Holidays New Zealand. :)

JAMIROQUAI SINGS OF VIRTUAL INSANITY

An empty chair for Liu Xiaobo led to this performance of Virtual Insanity by angsty kid of the dance-lounge world Jamiroquai at the Nobel Peace Prize Awards this year.

Of course, one nation’s vision of heaven or a paradise could be another nation’s version of a complete nightmare, perhaps indicating that more cross-cultural dialogue on deeper and profound levels (other than lip service revealed in leaked cables to be just that) is needed in the world to find a medium of peace from each nation to another. The greatest virtual insanity of all–is to not find a meeting place or a bridge to talk equally on–one to another.

Where is that bridge? There is a lot of work to be done in finding that concerning the human rights of all people in all nations of the world. Not one nation has a squeaky clean human rights record, if we all are honest–so we can’t be children and just project all of our own self-righteousness of ‘status’? in the world, on one nation like China. It requires more work to be done in finding the center for all people on human rights issues. We also must remember that if China was not humane on many issues–this nation would not have loaned so much money to the USA over the years, to assist the American government to be able to be more humane to fellow Americans with that loaned money. In addition, the American government would not have accepted the loans either if they did not think China was okay. Every issue has a perspective from many different angles to consider before we throw stones.

Back to Jamiroquai–this group was always one of my favs growing up in college. They were just off the wall quircke. Enjoy.

AR RAHMAN WOWS AT THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE CONCERT 2010

The sitar is always so pretty, exotic, otherworldly-twangy. Here’s AR Rahman’s performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert 2010.

SIVERT HOYEM’S LIVE PERFORMANCE, NOBEL PEACE PRIZE 2010

Sivert Hoyem is very Midnight Oil in his vocal sound as he sings up a storm at the Nobel Peace Prize concert this weekend.

This version is fan footage of Hoyem’s performance. Pirate old world wisdom in his lyrics:

“Into the sea” is his message. “One godd friend, makes up for ten bad ones/ Old friends in dark places/ Old scars on their faces/ Into the Sea/ And if the sharks on the prowl/ The whale has stranded on the beach/ Know that friendly shore/ Is always within reach/ Into the sea/ Makes love/ Makes Waves.

THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – WED 12.8.10

Kim Kardashian is the number 1 reality TV star earner of 2010. Jessica Simpson has quietly built an empire of $750 million this year with shoes, denim, swimwear, fragrances, and accessories–affordability to people is how she did it.

Achieving that goal in a global economic crises was no small feat. Good for her! Britney Spears, Jason Trawicke holiday in Mexico (below) and Jennifer Hudson is spotted with baby Daniel Ortega today. Cute. Hudson inspires us with an anthem of being grateful for the Spirit of Love that always brings us on through every threat hurdle or fear in life, as good shines in the World.

If there’s one person in America with first hand knowledge of the depth of love that resides in the American people and this nation’s great spirit it is this young lady. When she sings she dispels fear, instills courage and restores faith in the America Dream. I had the privilege to see Jennifer live because a friend kindly made that moment happened. We never left her concert the same. She’s a gift.

On that note–Let’s go people. Up!

GRATITUDE – 39 THINGS TO BE THANKFUL FOR IN AMERICA

No one can get in the way of what I feel for you–songwriter, Alicia Keys

To be thankful of life and to value it, is always to hold the keys of the kingdom’s expansion. Here’s 29 things I’m thankful for having lived in America for four and a half years:

1. clean water. 2. enough food to feed everyone. 3. good humored people. 4. freedom of speech. 5. freedom of expression 6. enough homes to house everyone. 7. Barack Obama and the Obama family 8. some of the best smiles in the world. 9. fun. 10. diversity. 11. spirit. 12. new technology. 13. the American people. 14. country music. 15. best live concerts. 16. california. 17. african-american people. 18. native american indians. 19. choice. 20. passion. 21. demonstrative people. 22. diversity of 50 states. 23. Hawaii. 24. New York City. 25. enough medicine and skills to cure people/ medical research. 26. gifted filmmakers. 27. football. 28. generosity of spirit. 29. Maori and Kiwi in hollywood. 30. innovation. 31. big thinking nation. 32. America’s children and elderly. 33. Hispanic-Americans 34. America is a haven for Jewish people. 35. America is a haven for Arab people. 36. Peace keeping role. 37. fireworks displays. 38. ice cream flavors. 39. Saying “God Bless America” is still the way you show you deeply love your nation.

What most excites me is America’s potential to be realigned and focused towards ‘a new American life-style revolution’ and an incredible future ahead. Living here, I have been a part of this culture changing in tough years– I believe for the better and the good.

To read more on why gratitude is America’s most attractive trait this decade, this events company Premiere In A Box says it all in their website copy when defining what L.I.F.E means to them. Read it to be inspired. Fun. They are also based in Canada too.
