ONE FOR GAGA FANS – 12.22.10

TEN TOP RATING LADY GAGA NEWS POSTS ON HORIWOOD.COM

~Top rating post on Horiwood.Com as at 8:30pm, Horiwood.Com, Hollywood California USA. 12.22.10~

AND WHY EXACTLY IS THAT HAND THERE?

Born on the 4th July/ Lady Gaga News:

Stars go through moments of enduring ‘people with no space-zone’ boundary guides. This picture of Lady Gaga with a well meaning fan putting a gloved hand on her boob, says it all. Okay, it was quality brown leather, but even still! Step away from the junk. It’s like Heather Mills has leapt on her. Parlaying from this pic, via The Superficial to current Gaga news then, here’s what Stefani Germanotta has to say when blowing her own trumpet about her own amazingness on her upcoming album, Fried this way? Says Gaga:

“A marriage of electronic music with major, epic, dare I even say, metal or rock ‘n’ roll, pop, anthemic style melodies with really sledge-hammering dance beats. It’s finished and all, it’s just fine-tuning everything. I think that lyrically this album is more poetic. It’s really written by the fans, they really wrote it for me because every night they’re funnelling so much into me.”

It’s nice to hear how Funneled This Way is coming along. It does seem like this girl has been harping on about this album for a while now. Seriously though, the prolific and productive Manhattan raised Gaga–really should tell fans to get their hands off her junk, because this photo is insane.

A WEE NOTE TO LADY GAGA FANS

Well Hello, Hello: For those of you requesting “where is all your Gaga news at?” I can say these things:

a) it’s about the music. (not the peroxide, the weaves, or biting Santa’s head off in concerts, or gawdy clothes/ outfits either)

b) she did make the top ten list of trending stars on this blog for 2010.

That’s all I have to say on that at this minute. Happy holidays.

MADAME TUSSAUDS WAXES 8 TIMES FOR LADY GAGA

Life-size Lady Gaga candles were made in the pop star’s likeness, not once but eight times by Madame Tussauds, the museum that is like a blog with celebrities visage, except that they use the wax as their artistic medium to make a buck.

Their existence as a museum is proof that often people prefer the iconography of something over the real thing. That’s a far more realistic experience for such customers of these museums who pay to see statues like this. That always fascinates me about ‘celebrity’ museums like this. Nutty stuff.

This version is the one that can be spotted in Los Angeles. Wax museums are always so halloween all year round I think. If you’ve met real celebrities, you will know that wax museums are a little bit creepy.

BEACH PERKS NEW ZEALAND – EVER BEEN TO ONETANGI BEACH?

Life is a good beach — enjoy!

BEACH PERKS NEW ZEALAND: Onetangi Beach is the site of The Onetangi Beach Races each year. The beach is on Waiheke Island, near Auckland, New Zealand.

Aotearoa New Zealand beaches are one of the biggest perks you could ever see in the world, to vacation on, when visiting New Zealand. They’re transparently everyone’s property. Apparently.

Everyone in NZ feels a little entitled to own their fair share of sun-basting time on beautiful beaches like Onetangi all year round. Do you blame them? These beaches are a gift to all New Zealanders, at the moment. Tourists even more so. You just want to put the beaches of New Zealand in your own pocket and never do without them once you’ve discovered them.

My favorite thing to do at Onetangi is to swim and play chess with a friend, although the pawn pieces do get buried in the sand, if you’re negligent of them. So easy to do when drinking the superb Waiheke Island wines on offer. Or with ten guitars of locals playing around you at a beach BBQ too. If you’re lucky. Situated in the Hauraki Gulf, ‘the island is partially protected from the prevailing colder/wetter west and southwest winds, making it both drier and warmer than the Auckland isthmus.’ This makes it warmer and drier as the ocean moderates falling temperatures at night.

AVATAR DRESS FOR UNITED STATES OF BROWN by LADY GAGA AND HORIWOOD – 11.9.10

When we talk about ASEAN nations, or APEC nations, or Obama’s current tour of Asia, we effectively are talking about nations of the world who have Brown Eyes. India, China (1/3rd of the World’s population just in those two nations alone with predominantly brown eyes).

We also talk about Maori the people of Samoa, Tonga Tapu, Fiji, Rarotonga, Nieu, The Tokelaus, Tahiti, The Kings and Queens of Archipelagos in The Marquesas and The Marshall Islands where my American footballer namesake once lived. We talk about brown hobbits and Kiwis. We talk about all people of Papua Niu Guinea, The people of Brazil, The Amazon, Italy, Espana and so the lists goes on to Africa.

This song goes out to all of you today. And to those with variations of blue and green and grey and violet eyes–may you have the courage to see through brown eyes at this time too, in world history.

Perhaps most importantly we also talk of Arab nations and Israel and their peace in this world. We hold keys. Most of these people have brown eyes. Their eyes are our mirror, and we their mirror of acceptance, calm and peace.

Let’s go people! Tihei Mauriora!

VIDEO – LADY GAGA’S INTERVIEW WITH ANDERSON COOPER

Some dudes with their handi cam, filmed a bit of Lady Gaga‘s interview with Anderson Cooper. From what you can hear of the footage, Gaga says the best way fans can get to know her is on stage.

Having seen her perform live in L.A Christmas Eve, I can’t argue with that. Stefani Germanotta gives a very intimate performance on stage for her fans. You do feel like you know the artist behind the music when she talks in between her songs. It feels like the only breathing room she has in life, to actually catch up with her own achievements, when she takes to the stage for fans and chats. In that moment she’s real.

The full interview airs in February. Why so far away?

LADY GAGA IS RECORDING IN OSLO, NORWAY

Lady Gaga is too funny. At the minute she’s tweeting pics of herself (who else) as she records in Oslo, Norway – the place where they present Nobel Peace Prize Awards. Cheeky monkey.

It’s cold in Oslo with Stefani Germanotta tweeting: “ “I’m on a heater, but this record ain’t about poker,” she added.

I wonder who the ‘he’ in “he @ her” is, she’s referring to in the creative process of her songwriting, lyrics composition and recording efforts, this time round. Geffen or someone else?

This piano photo is gorgeous. Red Eye her producer is working hard in the background. Really she should do a song with Hebrew and Arabic lyrics as a distinct bridge. Now that would be a forward thinking American pop star, if girl did.

YOKO ONO, LADY GAGA, JULIAN LENNON, JOHN LENNON + TEN THINGS FOR COFFEE STIRRERS – 10.4.10, 3.30pm

The question on America’s lips today is: Did Lady Gaga wear a sheer bodysuit, while Yoko Ono was all military MC at John Lennon’s 70th birthday celebrations?

Ahem. It’s an irony that a time where unemployment is a smidge bit OOC, here in the U.S, that people who do have jobs, aren’t really doing them. They are all online, looking at their favorite topics. Normal after all. Hi! :)

Here’s what the American people, across the beautiful 50 states of the USA, are stirring their coffee to, in front of their work computers, right now, in their day jobs.

1. Twitter: Twitter‘s CEO Evan Williams has stepped down. Evan is all about product development, whereas Dick Costello has skills to generate the next level of bucks. Evan will stay with Twitter, while secretly developing his own Facebook styled movie script. The last sentence was an add on. But he should. Google is doing one.

2. Lady Gaga teams up with Yoko Ono to vampire John Lennon‘s fanbase some more. The two ladies performed Saturday together. A win-win partnership, with Sean Lennon‘s blessing to make bank. What a quirky concert duo. Of course, that went down in LA at the Orpheum Theater, for John’s 70th Birthday celebration. And equally as important, here’s ‘my’ buddy Julian Lennon from 1999 who I met through a mutual friend from Ireland here in L.A, talking about his late dad and his own issues, about having a Beatles father. Jules is a cool guy, watch him below. Very humble. Loves Maoris. Has worked with horis in the past.

Oh - Gaga, 24, said to Yoko, 77: “Thanks for being so brilliant, and an inspiration to so many woman.” Aw.

3. Flo TV, has got no more flow. It’s finito.

4. The Medal of Honor shooting video game, will awaken the wannabe military killer in you. Who wants to be that, if you don’t have to, serving on military duty? On the other hand virtual soldiers for recreation could be hot. But in the hands of kids? Don’t know about that one.

5. Jeff Garcia sends Twitter wild.

6. Endhiran Box Office Report: Robot sets an all-time record in the history of indian film industry. Robotic Bollywood, now in 3D? That must be what’s coming up next in the future. This film, Anjaani, Anjaana stars Ranbir Kapir and Priyanka Chopra, not quite 3D high tech. It would be funny to see a robot, stop and sing a Bollywood song half way through a 3D effects scene, though.

7. Tony Curtis is buried in Vegas with 400 friends in attendance. More on that later.

8. Smartphone users will get a refund from Verizon. When platforms go down, it’s big bucks lost. So much of money, is tied up in communication, about the next ’moment’ of blah blah. Staggering really, what we’ve all become. Phone obsessed people.

9. Prison Planet lambasts the US government with manipulating the public to put faith back in ’government’ using Terror Hysteria Recycled, at Europe’s expense. Yeah, that was not cool. It just makes a certain person’s PR advisor, look totally insecure. Needless to say in Hollywood, if you live here; if a studio announces two years out they’re making yet another film about blowing things up? Who exactly does the blowing up? The studio, according to ’the script’ they announced prior–so again, not a good look, that approach. Washington needs Lady Gaga’s PR team. I mean, Yoko Ono singing, induces terror (but who cares, she’s Yoko Ono!) and Gaga achieved the same effect, without freaking people out for her press this week.

10. Bernanke says the Feds buying more assets, will help economy out.

Who knew Gaga was so soulful in the blues genre. Her vocal maturity has developed well in the last year.

THE KNOWLES WOMEN TAKE ON CRYSTAL METH CULTURE WITH THE LAUNCH OF MISS TINA FASHION LINE

I love Beyonce Knowles P.R moves on the celebrity and merch chess board lately. They’re smart, to both make bank and also to speak into an accelerating drug culture as people escape in recession to avoid the reality of a scaled back American dream.

The last week in Hollywood has been insane for people aged 20 to 45 being wasted on stuff-not-alcohol, at some bars. On a level, I’ve never seen before, in terms of the amount of wasted people, has quadrupled.

Don’t get me wrong, like Hollywood is not a convent, so drugs are a part of it, but the level of people wasted, is oppressive. Not because of them being wasted in higher numbers (no pun intended) but because it’s a sign of these economic times, that crushes peoples spirits. That pisses me off. It’s like a silent but present bully, weighing heavy on a generation of Americans psyches. It’s sad to see occurring.

What sucks, is that no one looks happy, either. Like, it’s not like the hippies were happy and cool in the 70′s, rebelling for a social cause. It’s not that look at all. The look is dark and scared.  They look glazed and beaten up, in that state. Did I mention, that these California people are incredibly gorgeous though, so it makes the tragedy even more gutting, from an ‘aesthetics’ stand point.

I think of parent artists, who created these canvases called their American children. I don’t think these artists, bled on canvas to tell this kind of American picture. That irks me too. This is inter-generational art, under threat. Being eroded. Gutted. From within the soul. It has to stop. Then there’s the foreboding feeling, that there’s still more knocks to come. They know it too. So perhaps, they are leaders of the next wave of challenges, if they get through these temporal ones.

Wonderland is definitely in reverse. It’s a bit off putting. Like surreality, gone lopsy. A tad bit odd.

As we know, crystal meth drug culture is a big issue. Especially in many L.A communities (not to name hoods). Put simply, crystal meth culture exists for people who can’t afford the culture of diamonds and chandeliers. They’re shut outside it, yet all the role models being held up, are dripping in both. There’s a disconnect, so crystal meth culture exploits this – and the masses get hooked in. It’s a very social drug.

Thankfully in New Zealand we had a crystal epidemic a decade ago. I have a niece named Crystal, who developed her own strategies as a babe, to avoid it, when it hit her generation hard. She’s instinctually smart and an amazing person. And I think of her, when I look at these 40 year-old kids on it. Knowing, that teens and the 50+ set who are most at risk of it, are not even present in the room.

It’s a trip to watch, strip people of their ability to fight back, at what’s costing them their dream in the first place. That one, is going to be around for a while.

When Lady Gaga came on the scene – her Bad Romance video has many crystal symbols in it. In fact, many of Gaga’s fans get her crystal symbology. The same way red wine drinkers do. She’s a marketing genius at producing symbols, to attract and cyphon markets. Beyonce is too, but needs more symbols generated – to now compete at the level Gaga has been with symbols generation.

Since Beyonce switched it up with a good P.R team – her marketing is set to take on drug culture. This week, we saw Beyonce take her diva self to the block – for a block party. This positions her brands within reach of the little people who first made her a star (safety in Beyonce whiplash aftermath from the public that swung to now Gaga-flavored fickle times), but the positioning of Beyonce on the block, also declares her war for community issues and concerns, that happen in neighborhoods, that need an angel (or advocate).

And, she’s now – launching her statement against “tina” culture   (more…)

THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – MON 9.13.10

“I’m beautiful in my way, cos God makes no mistakes. I’m on the right track. Baby, I was born this way.”

Although Lady Gaga‘s next reinvention is to convince the world that she was actually born to a Will Harris grass-fed cow in Atlanta, in order to make her next $62 million in a year; it was this Upper East side Manhattan raised girl’s big night last night at the MTV VMA Awards. Who said that you can’t be raised affluent and still feel the pulse of a new generation on the ground in your own country?

A rarity, she is a princess of America who still battled and clawed her way to the top, in a recession era–with a lot of critics along with phenomenal invisible backing. Props!

Chelsea Handler clocked up heat too with a critics controversy. And, Georgio Armani‘s fashion sketches rated today too. Here’s our top ten entertainment and celebrity news posts, as voted worldwide today. Enjoy.

MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARD WINNERS LIST 2010 ARE…

In a dress that resembles cows afterbirth entrails, (it’s a country rural thing), Lady Gaga accepts one of her many awards as she stakes her claim on the MTV Video Music Awards and announced the name of her new album Born This Way. Clever.

The Evita Peron hat refrence is a tribute in a pop music way. Pure hard slog combined with a fair degree of talent got her there. And good backing. Meat farmers in Houston and New Zealand are loving this girl right now, for promoting meat and beef to the world.

LADY GAGA’S DONATELLA VERSACE HOMAGE ARRIVAL AT MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS

Perhaps because talk of Lady Gaga jacking Madonna‘s swagger is at an all time high, Lady Gaga turned a pivotal corner, and arrived at the MTV Music Video Awards in a gown and silver wig, that resembled Donatella Versace, a little.

THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – SAT 9.11.10

“What we find in Gaga is a disturbing trend towards mutilation and death…”

Gaga is/ was the perfect cheerleader of carnage, in a war mongering nation. But the tide is turning. Peace is on the American family table. Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (Photo by Francois Berthier). Time to work the Angelina part of her name? Maybe.

Alright, she’s only 24, so we can’t hate on Germanotta too much. We should support younger people who achieve. On the other hand, Lady Gaga needs to share more, of the spotlight with her peers, especially her older female peers of music. So, I’m going to run with these comments today too. Sorry Gaga! As fairness, here’s my critique of Gaga live in concert, when she was once humble

Sunday Times Magazine via Mickey K, quoting Camille Paglia‘s scathing words about Stefani Germanotta‘s influence on her ‘fans’ is a study today. Truth has two sides, and as entertaining as Germanotta can be with five times more costume changes than more humble stars have a day, to generate paparazzi pics, Paglia’s words you can’t fault either.

Here’s a bit: “Generation Gaga doesn’t identify with powerful vocal styles because their own voices have atrophied: they communicate mutely via a constant stream of atomised, telegraphic text messages. Gaga’s flat affect doesn’t bother them because they’re not attuned to facial expressions.”

“Gaga’s fans are marooned in a global technocracy of fancy gadgets but emotional poverty. Borderlines have been blurred between public and private: reality TV shows multiply, cell phone conversations blare everywhere; secrets are heedlessly blabbed on Facebook and Twitter. Hence, Gaga gratuitously natters on about her vagina…

Madonna‘s friends are in overdrive and perhaps rightly so, to bring some balance back to the middle for Madonna’s slipping market, in war that is ageist quite frankly, and being supported by other pop stars too, at Germanotta’s driving. Madonna bullying must stop! :) The article is fiery as a little warm up of what’s to come. Paglia could be writing, on behalf of any major female pop star in the world, because Gaga has the game sewn up. And change, is always fair and good. Freeing up the market lets new singers, as well as older ones be heard.

Here’s our entertainment and celebrity topics of note, as you the people flew the doves in on September the 11th 2010. I’m just thankful that as readers on this blog, we haven’t forgotten the loss of those slain inanely as an online community. That makes me smile. Peace & thanks everyone.

More Gaga Critique via Madonna’s dragon, Paglia – She’s a beauty!:

She constantly touts her symbiotic bond with her fans, the “little monsters”, who she inspires to “love themselves” as if they are damaged goods in need of her therapeutic repair. “You’re a superstar, no matter who you are!” She earnestly tells them from the stage, while their cash ends up in her pockets. She told a magazine with messianic fervour: “I love my fans more than any artist who has ever lived.” She claims to have changed the lives of the disabled, thrilled by her jewelled parody crutches in the Paparazzi video.

Although she presents herself as the clarion voice of all the freaks and misfits of life, there is little evidence that she ever was one. Her upbringing was comfortable and eventually affluent, and she attended the same upscale Manhattan private school as Paris and Nicky Hilton. There is a monumental disconnect between Gaga’s melodramatic self-portrayal as a lonely, rebellious, marginalised artist and the powerful corporate apparatus that bankrolled her makeover and has steamrollered her songs into heavy rotation on radio stations everywhere.

To read in full, go here.

The fact remains, Gaga is the first major star of the digital age? Why, because Michael Jackson died and left a void, Madonna styling helped her fill it faster (Bad Romance is a song, all about Michael’s attire, with a declaration that Germanotta didn’t want to be friends with Madonna), and she was quick to make no bones about the fact, that at the time, world politics were a mess, and had screwed a generation she sings to–by calling the situation ‘monstrous’ by branding her fans “Little Monsters.” She’s a young lady, who perhaps needs to live a little, in between being a stage queen. About now. I like her ballads.

HOT ON TWEETMEME.COM

Rainer Maria Rilke is the writer that wrote beautiful thoughts from the banal. That made the real surreal. That made the ordinary extraordinary. And who Stefani Germanotta lifted off Rainer’s pages to put in ink upon her skin, to create the persona known today as Lady Gaga?

Rainer’s words can rate on google. This just in from TweetMeMe.Com: “What is required of us is that we love the difficult and learn to deal with it. In the difficult are the friendly forces, the hands that work on us. Right in the difficult we must have our joys, our happiness, our dreams: there against the depth of this background, they stand out, there for the first time we see how beautiful they are.”-Selected Letters of Rainer Maria Rilke

DOES SHE HAVE A STEAK IN FASHION? LADY GAGA FOR VOGUE HOMMES JAPAN

Bloody awful! This looks like an advertisement for New Zealand Lamb & Beef. Lady Gaga butchers ‘the cow’ in her Telephone music video some more, by wearing the creative concept of the video shoot in the form of rump steak and nothing else for Vogue Hommes Japan.

Clever or tasteless? Very Butcher’s Wife, or Butcher’s Daughter. However, ‘Art’ should always be looked at in this light, so let me try and be open to this kid’s message. Butcher shop, is still what I’m getting.

Culturally, does this make her a raw Kobe beef platter of sorts for America and Japan? Sports + Entertainment tie ups, has always been what stars seek to achieve. Or is she doing the carpaccio Italian-American reference, Stefani Germanotta loves to do?

The last time Gaga appeared for this Japanese magazine, she did a David Carradine death scene reenactment. It was risque but tasteless. Gruesome stuff for Japanese blokes from Stefani Germaotta

As people who hail from New Zealand are all for red meat, I’d have to say Terry Richardson has created a portrait of a performance artist, that’s going to be talked about for decades to come.
