Kate Gosselin and John Gosselin caused headlines in America this year by being the reality TV stars who brought on the drama while pretending to parent their twins and sixtuplets, while being in love and then divorcing.
To many an A-List star’s horror the Gosselin’s took out more magazine covers than most esteemed celebrities, this year as America could not get enough of them.
Why exactly? I’m still not sure! They were the tabloids ‘saviors’ during recession year and many tabloids experienced growth in sales thanks to John and Kate. Together, they ranked the 29th most searched for trending topic of 2009 here in Hollywood.
It took the combined news stories of the death of Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett‘s passing and the Kardashian family going paparazzi crazy in America to end Jon and Kate’s winning run on the tabloids as cover stars. By any standards this couple were the King and Queen of the tabloids along with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. That’s incredible!
From obscurity to red carpet status. When fame is your objective, Jon and Kate totally cleaned up in the fame game this year by playing the divorce card so pubicly and so badly, that it peaked our interest.
Jon played the ‘Tiger Woods‘ role of bad cop once they officially divorced, and Kate’s ‘victim card’ of parenting six children on ‘her own,’ while Jon was a playboy, garnered her more votes than Jon. Kate’s ambitious obsession with fame, over mothering her children in safe zones away from the paparazzi… even made Barbara Walter‘s 10 Most Fascinating People List for 2009 along with Michelle Obama. Wow!
Let’s hope the Gosselins have put enough money aside for their children’s therapy from all the money they raked in this year with their newfound fame.

TLC has announced that the Jon & Kate Plus 8 Show will end its run after November. Christmas has come early for America. Not so for Jon Gosselin. He’s still being used as TLC’s bait to draw in the network’s audience.
TLC now claim that they are suing Jon Gosselin for breach of contract, for appearing on rival networks to do interviews and saying ‘unauthorized comments’ about the show. TLC claim that Jon breached the original contract he signed with the TV network.
They claim that they want some of his earnings back, that they payed him to appear in the show for ‘breach of contract.’ In show biz, even bad press is good press. So how can TLC be remotely mad at Jon Gosselin for giving added value to TLC’s show?
David Letterman wants to be Lady Gaga. I kid. The no pants, talk show host of Late Night TV, makes fun of himself and his misdemeanors in the TV Ratings game for Entertainment Weekly.
Again, his wife Regina Lasko is a saint.

Never trust a hubby spurned. Radar online is reporting, that Jon Gosselin, did the unthinkable, he emptied out the joint bank account shared with Kate Gosselin to pay the children’s bills. Kate is reportedly only left with $1,000.
We know that Kate is being blamed for being the head pimp of the Gosselin children on the intended Kate Plus 8 reality TV show for TLC. But with Jon taking control of the monies already earned from TLC, doesn’t that make Jon Gosselin the head pimp. Yes it does.
West Hollywood did something extremely unusual in the weekend, they honored a pudgy, newly divorced, mid-life crises riddled father of 8 children, with a milkshake named after him. Kristen’s casting as Bella Swan for the third film of Stephenie Meyers novels, proves Kristen Stewart is hot enough to make both Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen and Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black both have chemistry, both onscreen and also in real life, with a cinematic association to the LA actress.
However, when put to public vote, it is Q’orianker Kilcher who is rating today at #1, on the issue of the Twilight Saga’s casting choices. Hollywood is so surreal. You don’t have enough gas in your tank to get home from your 100% commission job in a recession after putting in an 8 hour day and 40 hours for the week. You’re in shock as your eftpost card declines at the gas pump. Every single AP loaded to your bank account must have gone out. But at least you have cable, that American staple of entertainment, at home. You just don’t know how you’re going to get home to watch any of it, unless you push your car along Hollywood Blvd.
Then you go inside to the cashier and your old lottery ticket at the bottom of your wallet, you fish out. It’s crumpled but you straighten it out and hand it over to the Pakistani cashier with fingers crossed and eyes closed. The sound the cashier’s til makes as it opens let’s you know that it is a minor winner at the gas station in that moment. Believe it or not, this is how many young people in Hollywood are living each day, right now. Oh, and people in their 50s and 60s too. George Bush’s governance and Dick Chaney’s ill advice, has totally cost these people their American dream.
Not to worry! Such is the story of Hollywood. But like the lottery ticket today, the city always holds luck, even when you least expect it. You just need to believe that things will be okay, and they do get better. But what a surreal experience!
