“DON’T ASK DONT TELL” IS REPEALED IN THE SENATE – 12.18.10
“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is repealed in The Senate today (Saturday).
In a statement President Obama said: “I am also absolutely convinced that making this change will only underscore the professionalism# of our troops as the best led and best trained fighting force the world has ever known.”
Republican Senator John McCain who has served in the military said: “Today’s a very sad day.” He blamed elite liberals with no military experience for pushing their social agenda on troops during wartime. ”They will do what is asked of them,” McCain said of service members. “But don’t think there won’t be a great cost.”
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) saw it differently. “As Barry Goldwater said, ‘You don’t have to be straight to shoot straight,’ ” he said, referring to the late GOP senator from Arizona. And Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore) who stayed in Washington this weekend for the vote despite needing surgery for early-stage prostate cancer, said “I don’t care who you love; if you love this country enough to risk your life for it, you shouldn’t have to hide who you are. You ought to be able to serve.”
Here in West Hollywood as I post this news grey clouds and grey mist have obscured everything along the skyline (unusual for California) and it is raining cats and dogs, heavily. The skies feel like they’re crying.
One in ten of all Americas are registered as being a veteran of war, currently in the USA (30 million plus people). That was Washington News today.

FACEBOOK BILLIONAIRE – PETER THIEL’S SUPRA-RADICALISM
When you’re young, rich and have made your money in IT, social media or your own ideas that made millions – the chances are you’re either a) likely to sound like an arrogrant prat, or b) have very little faith in systems that never helped you actually realize your ideas, or c) a combo of the two. Here’s one of Facebook’s early investors Peter Thiel on six topics. Radical to say the least:
On Democracy – “I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible.” Winner-take-all capitalism, without regulation, is something the peeps don’t go for.
On a lack of faith in politics:
Since the 1920′s: ‘capitalist democracy’ is an oxymoron,” he writes.
On New Technologies:
They should “create a new space for freedom.”
On freeing up currency:
Thiel who created PayPal and sold it for $1.5 billion in 2002 says: ”I sought to create a global currency beyond the reach of taxation or central bank policy.”
On Facebook as an imagined community:
“A way to form voluntary supra-national communities.”
On aggressive talent scouting of teenagers:
“Thiel Fellowship will pay would-be entrepreneurs under 20 $100,000 in cash to drop out of school. In announcing the program, Thiel says universities are like governments – they hinder true entrepreneurialship. Are the GOP paying this guy to be Obama‘s Jon Voight of this year, cause this getter better double up on security (and no I wasn’t talking about Kelly Clarkson‘s dog, called Security, either).
Alright that last part of young people recruting (teens) is a little bit creepy. Surrounding yourself with only young people, perhaps means you’re not accountable to an older wiser, balanced opinion, but lets not hold that against Peter. He’s a chicken man. Lol!

GAY TEEN BULLYING – A WOMAN WAITS AT A BUS STOP IN WEST HOLLYWOOD – 10.20.10

A woman waits at a bus stop in West Hollywood, on a rainy day. She is a double minority in West Hollywood.
Gay bullying is a topic consuming Americans right now (also politicians of America). Hilary Clinton gave a very strong message on the topic to gay teens.
If you live in West Hollywood – gay bullying can be defined like this. The young man on this bus stop poster for a 2Exist underwear campaign, has a message for teens who identify with being gay. The message as a model, is “to exist, buy these underwear.” Clever with maximum visibility in a big spend campaign where this image is plastered everywhere in West Hollywood and Hollywood at the time of writing.
The truth is, within the gay community, if you do not have a body that looks like this and you’re a teen, the chances are, you are most likely to be bullied within gay culture’s hierarchies, by someone who does. That goes with gay culture.
For all gay teens being bullied. If you want to identify with being gay and not be bullied – Hit the gym. That message is also as real as Hilary Clinton’s message. If you are a depressed gay teen, go here to watch her message.
Smile! Hit the gym. And the golden rule for all teens – “no glove. no ‘love.’ That’s a start in not be bullied and valuing your own life. Not being bullied starts with this golden rule, for all teens anywhere, being bullied.
Finally, the woman in the picture above, her chances of being bullied in West Hollywood, by being ignored and not included, are perhaps going to be higher on a daily basis of social behavior than any gay teen will experience a day in West Hollywood. Food for thought, when talking about bullying within society overall.
My point is. All bullying is wrong, and consideration in “a liberty nation” should be practiced more from all peoples towards others, regardless of sex (gender), ethnicity, body types, hair color, or hair volume or no hair at all status, religious preference, sexual preference, social status, employment status, physical looks, age (ageism)or the language that people speak as a first language. These topics of bullying, all exist in West Hollywood, at the time of writing. As they do, in any community of people, livng alongside each other. They all need work, along with gay teen bullying across America too.

Gay teenagers need a helping hand in the wake of suicides last week. Advocacy for all teens is important, in this economy especially. Basic human rights. We forget that when we go to war, we bully other people, for a purpose and a cause. How bullying also manifests itself within cultures, also costs lives too.
Lance is always at Basix Cafe, West Hollywood when in LA, with three dogs (literally) on weekends. This is good stuff from Lance this week. He’s the guy who once was in training to do space travel. Too fun. What happened to that? :)
“Larry King Live last night saw former *NSYNC boyband member Lance Bass stand alongside Kathy Griffin, Tim Gunn, and the very funny, Wanda Sykes to talk about factors that accelerate the very serious topic of teen suicides. Gay bulling being one.
Lance was a shock jock on the show, by admitting that as a teen, he also bullied other gay students to fit in. Says Lance: “When you’re 13, 14, you just go along with what the other people are doing. You just want to fit in. You want to make sure that your friends like you. So yeah, you’re going to crack jokes, you’re going to laugh along with it. And when you’re a teenager, you’re not really thinking, ‘Oh, I’m being a bully by laughing along with it.’” You can watch Lance and peers on the issue here. America is so ‘high school’ this week – in order to make a difference for youth.
This interview is vital for America’s young. How do we all need to change in order to make bullying stop. Especially for gay teens. For teens who are not gay, when political leaders (worldwide) locked up an economy, reducing opportunities for youth, this is also bullying. All teens are being bullied. This video applies to all teens issues, representing much wider issues of bullying, as well as for the gay community. If you’re a teen, and/or about to enter the job market, you’re instantly a threat. In this economy – nobody is safe. Economics as well as gay issues too, need to be discussed in more depth with answers for youth.
To put a gay band aid on the teen suicide issue, is cute, but if anything, why not produce a panel of gay economists for example, wouldn’t that be more helpful to gay and all teens in these times too?

RAHM EMANUEL’S REPLACEMENT IS A FIXER
Today, the Washington Post is more entertaining than many Hollywood news shows. Rahm Emanuel‘s next move on the chess board to exit D.C and run for Chicago’s Mayor is the lead story in Washington.
His replacement Pete Rouse is described as “a fixer.” No pressure, if you’re Rouse already in taking this job. Expectations to perform are high.

Obama’s crises management of having to switch out his team at the midway point in office is offset nicely by Washington Post’s news agenda’s setting. Red herrings abound.
The case of whether anti-gay protests at military funerals cross a line of freedom is up before the Supreme Court and takes center stage.
An Alaska corporations shareholders controversy story, Pakistan news, and Tiger Woods mug even make an appearance too in order to offset the Emanuel story. It’s busy.

TYLER CLEMENTI, PAM SPAULDING AND GAY KIDS OF AMERICA AS A NEW SOCIAL PHENOMENON – 10 THINGS RATING NOW IN THE HOLLYWOOD HOOD – 9.30.10, 4.30am
Tyler Clementi is #1 on google trends right now here in America. His suicide case a result of gay voyeurism gone wrong- indicates a trend to make gay people and gay culture a spectacle, but for what cause?
Spectacles are always a) entertaining and b) often maniplated as detractants of deeper issues from those voyeuring- not related at all to the spectacle or the deeper issues concerning a spectacle being showcased. Let’s keep that in mind.
Tyler Clementi’s story is a sad one, he is one of five gay-related teen suicides this week - a jolt to us all as humanitarian hearted people – to a) not prey on the young or b) those who are different.
Turning Clementi into a gay side show, cost this kid his life in the end. Does any culture have a right to turn a minority culture into a spectacle because it needs to update itself with a new skin to be popular and reinvent, without just cause that is actually yielding results for the good of that minority culture?
Clementi’s case, is that end result in a nut shell, as a biopsy perhaps of what is sure to follow across the board, if voyeurism isn’t rewarding back, to the level that its taking.
Food for thought today.
ELLEN DEGENERES AND MARIO LAVANDEIRA TAKE ON THE GAY SUICIDE TREND – TEN THINGS ON THAT

And five gay teens committed suicide this week, so this post is just to say, that trend is not cool. But these next ten thoughts are cooler].
1. If you’re a gay teen or any teen or anyone, someone doesn’t need to have to have a gay label, to help you. In fact, your chances of preserving your life, will be multipled to 100% if you see outside labels for your help.
2. As a young person of America, ask several people for help – it’s called knocking on a neighbors door. Field their opinions concerning your life. Go with advice that’s helping you. Community is always good for that. Try it. Knock and keep on knocking. Your answer will happen.
3. Here’s three organizations that can help you immediately, check them out. Suicide.Org. Save.Org. AFSFP.
4. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. In this economy, American teens are not always as safe as they used to be. Economic factors means that many teens are at risk in heated home environments suffering in recession. Childhood liberties are being eroded from many teens, which makes teens feel depressed and in severe cases lead to suicide. For a teen that feels this way, you’re not alone. Owning that thought, makes this situation a lot more managable. Join the club of many American kids today.
5. Don’t be hung up on a celebrity like Ellen DeGeneres and Mario Lavandeira of the Perez Hilton website or Lady Gaga either, and their offers of help. Advocates against death are always good, but the chances are, the person right next door to where you live is likely to be more accessible right now, to your need. They are your celebrity to ask. Just ask them.
6. On this blog, I am all about Life and preserving it. Death whether that be masqueraded in war’s effects and causes, or, suicide too, is the exact same issue, people are dying that need not. To live is to choose life. You are in control of yours. Just choose life. If that’s hard, talk to anyone at these agencies: Suicide.Org. Save.Org. AFSFP.
7. Beyond celebrities grandstanding on gay issues to make their money in entertainment – you have to realize that as a gay teen or a teen, that celebrities don’t always help a cause concerning teens. They help themselves, more than they’re likely to help you. But… These organizations: Suicide.Org. Save.Org. AFSFP. are more real, than they are. Call them. Your next door neighbor is more real than they are too. Say hello and ask for help.
8. Suicidal thoughts or tendancies are lies of oppression that can be broken with support and by being listened to. Counselors are needed and you can reach one at any of those three websites. Life is worth sticking around for. Don’t stop believing. You know it.
9. As a young person, never ever make a definition of life, solely about a vagina or a penis, and where you put that. Life is far more vast – than a body part or parts. Shifting your focus off sex, sexual expression, sexuality, sexual orientation - is a very good start in suicide recovery.
10. Too many stars talk about their vaginas (not to name names), which only compounds a focus on sexuality being blown out of proportion- without balance to other areas of community life and involvement as people for ALL teens. Then the same celebrities will stand back, and act like angels when they’ve helped propagate an imbalanced focus in society that accelerates suicide for gay teens in the first place. Use your brain. There are many role models in your community for you to talk too. Many of them, won’t be gay – but they are not shut off to you. That’s a lie if you think they are.

Finally, organizations like college guidance counsellors and some churches can help you too. If life is your issue and staying alive your #1 concern, find one where there is love, a listening ear, that doesn’t condemn you but offers you more answers of tangible and practical support rather than not. Again, use your brain.

A SAUDI AMBASSADOR SEEKS ASYLUM IN THE U.S
Ali Ahmad Asseri seeks Asylum in America because he says he is a) gay and b) friends with a Jewish woman.
He sounds like many talk show guests on the Chelsea Lately Show, but this is not a funny matter.
Poor guy! How can he concentrate on being a good ambassador for Saudi Arabia, if all of this fear is surrounding his return? I forgot that in Saudi Arabia men like Ali, might suffer persecution. Do you think Ali should be allowed to stay in America, if he fancies himself as a Saudi Bill or Ben of the USA?
And how do you do a gay test on someone to grant them asylum? I mean, really! Do you sit them down to fill out a questionaire at iHop saying, will you have the sausages or the fish with your eggs sir? Does this mean, an Exodus of men from Saudi Arabia could ensue?
A precedent setting asylum seeking case in the works.

SANDRA BULLOCK, IS SHE THE MOST POWERFUL ACTRESS ON THE PLANET?
Entertainment Weekly seems to think that Sandra Bullock is the most powerful actress on the planet. When I look at Speed 2, somehow, I don’t think so.
In power dike talk, Sandra seems to love, these accolades being written about her. She okays them before they go to print. Interesting. Good on Sandra. True power though, is always being honest, otherwise you’re not powerful at all. Food for homework, for Sandra today, when she’s doing way too much today on the cover of E.W.
Let’s keep it real! This girl finds it hard to tell the truth.
I have a lesbian cousin, a lesbian niece, a lesbian Phd role model, and friends who have children to lesbians… they’re a lot more honest than Sandra is. To me, they have more personal power than her too because they are honest about who they are.
And a note to E.W when running such Bullock-fed headlines on their cover. Two concepts to consider: “Angelina Jolie” and “Bollywood actresses” in the world outside of the U.S, before this can even be remotely believable. I find this magazine cover to be very racially offensive for that reason.

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS IS BECOMING A DAD
Sarah Jessica Parker rented a womb, to have twins. The news helped her appear on Magazine covers for months. Women thought Sarah was a bit different. Slightly more intriguing.
Well, this just in from Neil Patrick Harris whose doing exactly the same thing.
Surrogate mothers. The whole concept is so Chris Nolan in reverse. Very show biz parenting. I am reminded of the saying “Children are a blessing from God.” And the other saying “it takes a whole village to raise a child.” So, these two dads have their work cut out for them. Twins! :)
In our family we are very blessed right. Babies are on the way. Cute.

ONE JUDGE ON PROP 8
Says the LA Times: “A federal judge in San Francisco decided today that gays and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry, striking down Proposition 8, the voter approved ballot measure that banned same-sex unions.
U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker said Proposition 8, passed by voters in November 2008, violated the federal constitutional rights of gays and lesbians to marry the partners of their choice. His ruling is expected to be appealed to the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and then up to the U.S. Supreme Court.”
Meanwhile Queen Latifah is very excited about this news. Queen even did a Kim Kardashian bikini romp (matching) on a yacht today.

HOT IS RACHEL MADDOW WEARING A BURKA IN AFGHANISTAN
This morning on MSNBC, the hotness that is Rachel Maddow appeared live, wearing a Burka in Afghanistan. The normally tom boyish Maddow, suddenly took on an Angelina Jolie visage. [Burka pic still being sourced at time of writing]. Maddow is a very pretty girl.

LT. DANIEL CHOI 47th MOST VOTED STAR HOLLYWOOD 2010
Lt. Daniel Choi starring as The Asian-American Misunderstood Warrior of Diversity’s Equal Potential & Underestimated Value.
Clocking in at no. 47 of the most voted stars in Hollywood on Horiwood.Com for the year is Lt. Daniel Choi. These things we know about Daniel.
He was raised as the son of a Korean-American Baptist Pastor in Orange County. He enlisted in the US army. Because he identified with being gay and was outspoken about it, he lost his military privileges. He became the pin up boy of the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” repeal campaign, a favorite interview subject who fronted on nationwide TV still appearing in the standard issue military uniform, he did not return once discharged– in prime time.
As a person Dan Choi represents a knack of reinvention akin to someone on the scale of Madonna. To be Asian, then Baptist, then military, then a gay rights advocate, then unemployed but still an activist was his story this year. He’s even done hunger strikes–I don’t think Madonna ever did one of those for a political cause. Though, she might have for her art or the vanity of her figure back in the day. (more…)
