KIM KARDASHIAN IS MORE INFLUENTIAL THAN SARAH PALIN – NO.1 REALITY TV STAR EARNER 2010

[Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian made a lot of dough together once upon a time this year]

‘The pay is crap, the stiletto time is uber high for the lives of America’s top reality TV stars–but the endorsements and back handers to espouse a message and set a trend of pop culture for another celebrity, aren’t bad’–the Kardashian sister’s story this year as California’s reigning version of Charlie’s Angels TV entertainment.

Well, this is no surprise, Kim Kardashian is listed as the highest earning reality TV star of America this year. No one blurs reality and surreality quite like California. It’s what we do. The best.

Having a family focus and creating employment, Kim’s strategy as a star to make ‘family the big thing’ she’s about; has garnered Kim’s two sisters as top-earning reality TV stars too in a new year-end list of rankings, The Daily Beast said Monday.

$6 million in reported earnings is what the Daily Beast rank Kim on. She’s a cover girl, a sports and military locker room pin up star. One of the key stars of E!’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians Ryan Seacrest (really Kim) produced show, with a line of merchandising products ranging from timepieces to tennis shoes.

The beast reports Kim’s fortune is in-the-main amassed from the overall takings of the Dash Boutiques, a trendy chain of designer retail stores with locations in Los Angeles, Miami, and now Manhattan. A nice value add from Kim in steering information this way into he sisters collective brand power. (eg: spread your fame asap, and hedge your bets).

The Kardashian sisters, who have some of the best tabloid story line angles each week, just released a new book, Kardashian Konfidential, that has already sold 13,000 copies in its first week of release. Endorsement deals with Sephora and Bebe beauty brands are also their thing.  (more…)

CASSIUS CLAY’S “IN YOUR FACE TEE SHIRT” FOR BASKETBALL GAMES AND RUGBY FOOTBALL TRAINING SESSIONS

Looking after Hollywood’s future box office stars, with unique stories for the world, for California economy’s interests is what this blog post is about. Keeping such stars alive, could prove to be a challenge–hence this post.

Wow! Cassius Clay‘s In Your Face official tee shirt, in military khaki green issue, would make a great tee shirt to wear to basketball hoop games on the local block of Australia with mates or at rugby football, rugby league matches and Aussie rules football practice too each week.

I discovered it, on this post about innocent Australian young fella Daniel Assange of Melbourne. Go here to buy it for $19..99 to impress your friends and family, and make your hood a little bit more colorful and fun–like how a community of sporting champions, roll and celebrate cool people.

Daniel’s precious life and youthful potential is currently being threatened and bullied when he’s an innocent Australian young person of the world. Shocking stuff! This tee shirt is very relevant in New Zealand and Australia right at this second as well as All-ways Being relevant in American hoods and South Africa hoods too equally any day of the year. It’s a symbol of greatness and fairness, apparently.

MIRANDA KERR LEADS THE LINE UP OF VICTORIA’S SECRET ANGELS

A Miranda Kerr Post as Sun Capp Art – These ladies are ambassadors that matter. They are seen each year by a billion plus people on the planet. They are visible. As international ambassadors they are given the title of “angel.” An angel is a “messenger.” With all their wings aflutter–(feather creations as fashion accessories) they are a reminder of–what’s your message for the world? And to strut it out.

True fact: All the models that walk the runway of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show each year are called “Runway Angels.” The elite representatives for America’s most favorite fashion show each year and spokespeople of the brand are called “Victoria’s Secret Angels.” They’re in another league of hotness. They’re like Charlies Angels –the TV Show once made here in California–as global representatives.

Their selection reads like a line up of G20 Summit leaders or a UN Summit meetings best representatives. They stem from many nations. In the current line up is:

Miranda Kerr of Australia, PINK spokesmodel 2006-8 and now ongoing. Featured here for Heavenly Kiss launch.

Doutzen Kroes of The Netherlands via Vsalla Acess Victoras Secret.

Behati Prinsloo of Namibia–since 2008.

Rosie Huntington Whitely UK, selected 2010

Candice Swanepoel of South Africa, selected 2010

2010′s American trio – Erin Heatherton,

Chanel Iman,

Lily “is it time to snort & vomit yet?”Aldrige

In 2007 Victoria’s Secret Angels as a star brand, were awarded their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They are an elite group of girls–doing good things with their beauty and profiles. They join previous Victoria Secret Angels: Heidi Klum of Germany and America, Selita Ebanks of USA, Tyra Banks USA, The Brazilian trio: Gisele Bundchen, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio. Karolina Kurkova and Marissa Miller and Lindsey Ellingson USA to name a view more.

Fun girls–all strutting their stuff for a good cause. These Angels all work for a company called The Limited.

Why are they so lethal and effective as global ambassadors? Their distribution model. More catalogues from The Limited than people who are in the US are created. More than 400 million Victoria’s Secret catalogues are mailed each year from head office, America.

The Limited is increasingly becoming a green thinking company: Under pressure from environmentalist groups, Victoria’s Secret’s parent firm and a conservation group have reached an agreement to make the lingerie retailer’s catalog more environmentally friendly in 2006. The catalog will no longer be made of pulp supplied from any woodland craibou habitat range in Canada, unless it has been certified by the Forest Protection Association.

Sun Capitol Ambassadors: The Limited sold 75% of its company shares to Sun Capitol Partners, Inc–a company that manages $8 billion in equity capitol with 245 companies and businesses worldwide that generate INXS of $40 billion each year. Sun Capitol Ambassadors have offices Boca Raton, Los Angeles, New York, and affiliate offices in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Shanghai and Shenzhen.

These Angels are Sun Capitol’s ambassadors of choice. Miranda Kerr is almost about to pop with baby no.1. Go kid!

RIHANNA STUDIES, THE ART OF CELEBRITY AS SOCIOLOGY AND A GQ BRITANNIA MAGAZINE COVER, DECEMBER 2010

I saw that The University of Carolina is offering a Major in Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame. Pop music as a vehicle of leadership in nationhood’s direction is what kids want to study. Really a University should be offering science and advanced mathematics or physics papers in the US in an effort to close the gap on Education being an equipping tool towards being viable competitors in the future direction of a global economy.

If sociology is a lure to get kids into college to see what it’s all about, all good–perhaps they should be offering a 2 hour lecture in Rihanna Studies instead though. Kids would learn just as much, although Rihanna is not technically an American citizen. Although shaping American culture so much as an artist, rather humorously, her visa status is still that of an alien. She is the USA’s Alien Queen of the 2010′s.

In 2008, Rihanna was ranked in the top four on google New Zealand trends for the year. Her live performances in Auckland The Supercity were well appreciated from fans. A then relatively unknown American leader (to the-wider-world), Barack Obama, also made the top ten in this innovative and perceptive trend-spotting small nation. At this time, New Zealand’s current Prime Minister, was not yet ranked in the top ten (Sir Edmund Hillary was instead, at no. 7) yet Rihanna and Mr Obama were on New Zealand’s cultural radar of people they like.

As a comparison, Australia ranked Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole Smith in their top ten and Mr Obama was not yet on the radar in Australia’s mindsets at all that same year in a significant way. Rihanna however (was ranked no.9 in Australia that year as a trend) denoting that she is a key figure and entertainer to the South Pacific and Asia Pacific territories. She was the only person of color in Australia’s top ten that year to ‘cross-over’ as an accepted trend, whereas New Zealand had 3 people of color trend that same year. It is fair to say, that as a star, leader and a cultural-architect artist of a modern world–that Rihanna is always a forerunner of the world’s elite leaders. This is her destiny as a person. Let’s look at what she’s gifted the American people, so far.

What would GQ be, without its Rihanna magazine covers in the US or Britannia? You need at least one Rihanna moment as your cover girl each year to be a successful men’s magazine. This girl is both pretty, tough and resilient in making a comeback when beaten down. She can also make a fashion accessory super hot–that all stars emulate and fashion designers incorporate into their styles of design. She’s the edge of trendsetting when she feels like playing the diva role.

She also gave America a powerful image of someone who recovered from post traumatic stress disorder of something unexpected that can hit a life in America, requiring a major rebuilding effort. Her Chris Brown domestic violence saga of the past catapulted Rihanna into superstar status. Resilience was added to her star exotic brand in that tragic moment of callous American mistreatment by young Chris towards a foreigner living and working in Los Angeles. That media moment was bloody awful. Thankfully Chris Brown has moved on from the incident too now, maturing from it also.

There has never been anyone who lived in Hollywood Hills, quite like Rihanna who has contributed to American culture in difficult years, offering hope or distraction or attitude or just good fun. She’s quite unique. Via Barbados and the Commonwealth, along with Beyonce she is the All American Girl inspirer of the last decade. Next year, I wonder if actor/ singer/ fashion sequer and stylist, Kat Graham, a newbie who is currently sporting top hats of British gentry of the UK, will get to land on GQ too?

In the meantime, here’s the hardworking Riri, amusing Britain with those looks. In the last 11 months, she’s just not stopped working. Respec. In fact Rihanna’s music accomplishments are second to none in America–she’s pop royalty and the Commonwealth’s black queen of pop. In 2008 when Rihanna performed live for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, she wore earrings reflecting the shape of the late Princess Diana‘s engagement ring, the same ring now being worn by Kate Middleton. With her symbology that constitutes pop star monarchy’s iconography, that millions of people worldwide follow–as symbols of empire that they think define them, Rihanna is always smart. Equally subtle as confrontation, a rare mix. Rihanna is a little naughty, she’s the only music artist to give the Queen a diva snear at the end of her performance, before she curtsied–an expression the Queen would never allow herself to do in public, even if she wanted to. The moment from Rihanna is cute.

Hitfix reports that Riri (who this blog is sorta named after too), is the no.1 charting artist of the millennium. The music website writes: “Only Girl In the World jumps to No. 1 this week, giving Rihanna her second single from Loud to hit the top spot. Two weeks ago, What’s My Name featuring Drake was at No. 1. Loud debuts at No. 3 this week on the Billboard 200.

Riri makes history. It is the first time (more…)

KAT GRAHAM ON FILMING IN GEORGIA

She sings. She acts. She dances. She designs clothes. She’s got good taste in shopping for alternative street couture. What can Kat Graham not find time to do with her talents? Not much, she’s doing it all. Here’s what Kat says about filming the Vampire Diaries in Georgia:

“[If we shot in LA] I think we would all be so busy and have so many responsibilities press-wise,” she said. “But because we’re in Georgia, we’re just like, ‘Hey guys, what do you want to do after work? I don’t know. Let’s go hang out. Let’s go to a bar or a movie.’ It’s a very normal environment.”

Sounds like some much needed R n’ R for the girl whose taking America by storm being resourceful with the money she earns. Love it.

KATE MIDDLETON PROVES SHE’S A FASHION TRENDSETTER ALREADY

There must be something about wearing Princess Diana‘s blue sapphire engagement ring, because when it comes to setting fashion trends, Kate Middleton is proving to be just like her late mother-in-law.

This via Christina Amoroso of the NY Daily News: “Not only has Kate Middleton has captured the heart of Prince William, now she’s caused a fashion craze across the pond.

“The gorgeous would-be queen, already a noted style icon, wore a long-sleeved sapphire blue dress when she and the future King of England announced their pending nuptials on Tuesday. And now Vogue UK reports that the stunning number by Issa London, which retails at £385 (about $617) sold out at high-end British department store Harvey Nichols within 24 hours.

“Since the announcement of the royal engagement we have been inundated with requests regarding Issa,” buying director Averyl Oates told the magazine. “The dress worn by Kate sold out almost immediately. Issa is one of our best selling brands and the versatility of the pieces mean that they can be dressed down for the day and dressed up for special occasions.”"

Although Issa London is getting a lot of credit for a simple yet well cut dress for Kate’s tall lean figure, the fashion accessory that helped sell this dress too was pretty kicker! Diamonds and jewelry are back in vogue.

LIVE MUSIC- RIHANNA ON LETTERMAN WITH, WHAT’S MY NAME?

“Baby you’re a challenge, let me explore your talent” – Rihanna, October 2010.

Rihanna performed her new single What’s my name? on The Late Show with David Letterman yesterday.

Three thoughts:

a) it’s nice to see RiRi include more inflections of Barbados hip hop in her vocal inflections. She shows a confidence in her own culture more as she matures.

b) that hair is ridiculous! *jokes* It’s very Who framed Roger RabbitJessica Rabbit pop cultural referencing. Gimmicky, yet with a political bite.

c) a nice tribute to Diana Ross‘ Oscar attire from back in the Hollywood day when Ross famously rocked out with Michael Jackson as her Oscar date. See pictures below. Or, you can also go with a Heidi Klum, red carpet premiere Black Swan reference via an emerging Project Runway discovered, fashion designer Mondo–on this one too.

I love this image. Interweaving narratives of cross-cultural fusion is always hot. It’s the point where you learn the most and it’s the artform of this Hollywood blog too and what all Maori, Polynesian Pacific Artists do in the world. The Maori version of weaving is called tukutuku. It’s the same artistic spirit of what good editors do in sound and with film. They weave images and footage of Hollywood stories together, that matter.
Pretty music aye from Annie and Debbie and buds? They’re so naturally talented in having a blast together. Love these girls!!! Lindsay’s not bad either. :)
.
Here’s Annie Crummer, a singer whose part Maori and of Rarotongan Kiwi fusion descent, bringing Lindsay Ellingson’s Pasifika themed Angels wings to life, with the sounds of the South Pacific, featured in this video. Crummer sings with Debbie Harwood her friend from their group, When the Cat’s Away. This version is a small concert venue Kiwi gathering for the peoples in Auckland – The Supercity.

Are you are part of Pasifika peoples being in your world too? I am. They’re fun.

EMMA WATSON

Emma Watson covers two December Magazines for the Brit fashion world, namely Marie Claire and Brit Vogue. Here’s ten quotes from the Brown University student, studying in America.

On being an action figure: “It was unbelievable seeing me as an action figure! In a few months, toddlers all around the country will be biting my head off!”

On J.K Rowlings writing: “Hermione uses all these big long tongue twister words. I don’t know what she’s going on about half the time!”

On plugging J.K’s books: “It’s important to read because it’s really good for your [vocabulary]. It’s really good for your imagination. I enjoy reading because I find it relaxing.”

On iconic Hollywood movie, required staircase scenes: “I didn’t know there were so many ways you could walk down stairs until the day we filmed Hermione’s entrance into the Yule Ball Hall.”

On taking the p*ss out of yourself: [Looking at my earlier work?] “Oh… It`s like baby photos… I look like a chipmunk!”

On Los Angeles reporters: “They all ask exactly the same questions and you can say exactly the same answers! You don`t have to think, you can just stand there like a broken record going LALALA…”

On well meaning Christians: “I get sent Bibles. I have a collection of about 20 in my room. People think I need to be guided.”

On being a freak of spectacle for life: “Most people are really nice but some stare, like you`re some kind of zoo exhibit and not a real person with real feelings. Even when you take away all the glamour and attention and premieres and everything, it still comes down to how well you can act and acting.

On finding her grey power market: “I could be 100 years old and in my rocker, but i’ll still be very proud that I was part of the Harry Potter films.”

On managing press questions: “[in response to a reporter asking her whether she always wore pigtails]: I never wear pigtails, I wear plaits.”

To see what Brown University has to offer, check them right here. Or, if you like this blog, and want to study and meet kool and krazy Kiwis in Middle Earth, also check out my old college, The University of Auckland too. [Quotes via L]

HUMANITARIAN “JACKIE O” SUNGLASSES by ANGELINA JOLIE

Although Grazia Magazine claim Hollywood’s leading lady, Angelina Jolie is hapu (preggers) and other rumor mongering stuff to titillate the bored housewife – who cares.

Look at those sunglasses, that conjur up old school Jackie O elegance with a slight Bono rock star edge. Combined with Jolie’s humanitarian heart – now that’s a hot fashion combo going on and being worn right here as a Hollywood fashion statement. Hot.

Thanks for the image Grazia via Cover Awards. Very few do sunglasses better than Jolie. So California chic.

MAIKI SHERMAN – COVERS POLITICS IN THE MAORI LANGUAGE – SHANE JONES FOR TAMAKI ELECTORATE, THAT’S CULTURALLY VISIBLE IN NUANCED ARTS 2010′s

In the age of iPhone and digital media telephony – globally, a nation’s visibility is perceived as credibility. Maori and Polynesian Arts as Visual Arts getting more visual in Tamaki is a necessity to attract a global economy to New Zealand. The substance transmitted in all media that cannot be replicated, it stands on its own, will always be Spirit. If we possess it, we must serve it to Shine.

If we are credible, we must match the integrity of our belief with greater and more creative visibility as leading entertainers contributing to culture in the world. Whether they know it yet or not, the world needs US and our culture as expressed from artistic spiritsHoriwood on Arts & Visual Arts in The Super City – 2010′s.

Hot! Watch this clip to see news reporter Maiki Sherman covering politics and news in Auckland – The Supercity in Te Reo Rangatira (the language of Chiefs).

This clip also features Shane Jones who will stand in the Tamaki electorate, next election. Presenter Scotty Morrison and executive producer Tini Molyneux for Te Karere News bring us this unique story in Hollywood, wtih Maiki – for your viewing pleasure and Hollywood entertainment diversity.

Shane was Harvard educated in America, where he studied with his wife and children. He also speaks the indigenous peoples language of New Zealand  – a future trend for all politicians in New Zealand to become more proficient in, for the upcoming years of NZ politics. It’s time.

For Maori leaders like Shane, promoting Maori women into leadership roles across all sectors of society is his and his male peers’ (regardless of color) next biggest challenge. I see Shane being very instrumental, visionary and gentlemanly in this role as the world seeks out Maori women leadership and their wisdom as women on many global issues concerning other women, in the world. Maori and Kiwi women have a gift to lead that’s on the rise.

[Um, I'm posting this clip, because Mr Jones said "And how is that talented son of yours?" to my Maori Helensville-raised mom, when the two last met, at Dame June Jackson's anointing in Auckland - The Supercity.

[This pic - Samuel Marsden of Yorkshire, a later arrival and founding father of New Zealand]

Shane and I both grew up in Nga Puhi country – when he was not in America studying, learning at the feet of Maori Marsden - one of the greatest minds on theology, whose gift of Peace to mediate, along with Gra Theodore‘s is legendary in the ilk of New Zealand leadership circles.

Maori Marsden was the great grandson of Samuel Marsden of whom exploits and legends of New Zealand history books write about. Samuel had a spirit of deep respect for Maori, similar to that of Sir Douglas Graham. I pay respect to these greats today too from Los Angeles, The Entertainment Capitol of the World.]

For all of you Hollywood readers –manners with a reply back is how I was raised. My reply: E pehea ana a Lucas raua ko Kylie Brown? Kia ora te whanau katoa. Kia kaha.

Maiki Sherman appears at the end of the clip, rocking it in the Maori language. Is New Zealand getting a cultural revolution in between filming Hobbits in 3D for Hollywood audiences, or what? So exciting to see Maori and Polynesian culture thriving. That’s the spirit. It would be awesome to see a leader from the Tamaki Electorate develop and foster Maori Art House Cinema in Tamaki and take Maori and Polynesian cultural operatic performance to cirque de Soleil heights too, in Tamaki.

We need cultural visibility in theater, film, fashion, globally competitive music and dance choreography that’s relatable, emulatable and appealing — across all arts genres diversity to compete with the way visual arts, are being used in political circles today.

In observing political trends in and from the USA – A nation’s arts, proceeds it’s message of political value. There’s no way around that. Art and culture is the artistic armory of Kings to trade within a culturally nuanced global market place.

Now there’s a challenge for a Tamaki electorate leader to foster and ensure for Auckland City’s global presence – for our Prime Minister and nation’s culture and economy growing and feeding into each other, naturally, like enriched dialogue depicting intelligence of expression and maturity of nationhood, in our pride and sense of place – from a paradise nation rich and beautiful in ecological resource.

[Message to Tamaki Electorate - Horiwood Hollywood, is pictured holding Wellington-based Maori-produced magazine Tu Mai in Hollywood California. Held is an image of visual artist, model and talent, Yasmin Bidois, 15, symbolizing people wealth of our young people’s talented potential. Yasmin wears a Hei Tiki in pounamu worn by Wahine Rangatira of the Chiefly ancients – but now, a young woman faces the challenges before her in a modern world. This image depicts a visible age of Maori and Polynesian in the age of iPhone mobile telephony and all media globally.

The artistic statement is: “Maori on French Art fusion via Hollywood, California USA.” All Maori produced media in making this low budget visual message. Put simply – Visibility is our credibility. Let’s get louder and more visual to express and grow Tamaki’s artistic cultural potential in The World and to compete in a global economy. Korowai evening dress, Yves St Laurent, couture of France, 1952. In honor of French-Maori connection in the arts, as Yasmin also symbolizes by blood. We are New Zealand art. Let’s get visual with sophisticated production budgets in creating our own globally appealing artists and messangers of cultural texts that have an appealing message about who we are as Kiwis. Mauri ‘Ola tatou.
