This from the lovely Christina Applegate’s twitter account this morning:
The Lee Denim website, gives this story from Christina who survived a double mastectomy radical surgery, chemotherapy and radio therapy in her fight against breast cancer. Love this woman! By the way, Horis (Maori Women) have the highest breast cancer rate in the world. Let’s make a change. Christina says:
“In 2003, I had the pleasure of serving as the Lead Ambassador for Lee National Denim Day®. As I return as the 2009 Ambassador, the importance of this campaign has become even more real to me. Last year, I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. I learned from genetic testing that I have a mutation in the BRCA 1 gene which makes me more susceptible to breast and ovarian cancer. As a result, my doctor ordered a variety of screening tests to try to detect cancer in its earliest stages (when it is most treatable), and it saved my life. So this year, I am proud to return to Lee National Denim Day not only as the 2009 Ambassador, but as a survivor doing all I can for this cause. By joining me and wearing jeans on Friday, October 2, you can help fund the important work of my friends at the Women’s Cancer Programs of EIF. This year, I’m excited to announce that a portion of funds raised will also support my personal foundation – Right Action for Women. My hope is that with Right Action for Women, we help women at increased risk for breast cancer gain access to the information and tests that they need to beat this disease. Together, we can raise millions to support breast cancer research and awareness. It’s so simple and so powerful. I truly believe that it is events like this that help save lives. All it takes is $5 dollars to make a difference. So join me on October 2. I have a great feeling that with your help, this could be the best year yet! Sincerely, Christina Applegate.”

Sushi is so healthy. The Twilight cast including Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner went in search of sushi in Vancouver, Canada as the Twilight Saga’s cast and crew are busy filming Eclipse, the third of Stephenie Meyer’s novels for the screen.
By the way, soy sauce can accelerate cancer, so go easy on that shizzle. Look for organic varieties and alternatives to soy sauce when you do eat your sushi.
Let’s stay healthy y’all!

This video footage of Angelina Jolie’s mom, French actress, Marcheline Bertrand in 1980 shows a healthy, vibrant and beautiful woman like her famous daughter Angelina Jolie, currently is now. The world was at Bertrand’s feet.
Bertrand sadly died young after a 7 year battle with cancer, in 2007.
With the death too of Farrah Fawcett, we all need to be aware that cancer claims lives, irrespective of class, race or creed. We all need to be mindful that the disease whose only prevention begins at early detection, at this current point in medical science, needs a lot of research.
Bertrand was a selfless soul, who quit acting to raise her two children to Jon Voight. Her life’s message is, that there is no greater role a human being can play, than parenting their children with love. What a powerful legacy Marcheline Bertrand left in the world.
When her granddaughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt was born, she said:
“My heart is overflowing with joy with the new arrival of Brad and Angelina’s third child. Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh are deeply loved children. They have very kind and caring parents who love and support each other in every way.”
What great words to leave behind for her family. She’s a bright star, that is still shining. Thanks MB!

A “new 31 pediatric unit, a 10-bedroom hospital-based Ronald McDonald House; and double the size the neonatal intensive and pediatric intensive care units,” will be funded from the donation, that also aids cancer research.
In honor of their mother, the medical center is being renamed. It will be called the St. John’s Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center. Celebrities who give and who honor their parents are THE BEST! Let’s all do the same.

Participating in the 19th Celebrity Softball Challenge at Nashville’s Greer Stadium on Wednesday, Carrie Underwood batted big for charity with fellow country stars of Nashville, including Vince Gill and Montgomery Gentry to raise funds for cancer research charity, City of Hope.
Nice to see a country star give back! Nice on Ms Underwood!
and it’s for a good cause! Funny man Will Ferrell, knows that he’s not the best looking male endorser for lucrative endorsement deals on the Hollywood lot! But it hasn’t stopped the comic actor from coming out with his own line of Sunscreen products.
Spencer and Heidi Pratt, take note, this is how you hawk products… and for something worthwhile other than yourself
Ferrell has created a sunscreen product line that brings on the lols! All profits go to fund scholarships for survivors of cancer. At this point in medical research, early detection of cancer, is its best prevention for treatment from the disease that takes so many lives each year worldwide.
Congrats to Will Ferrill for being so scholarly supportive and proactive about cancer too. What a guy!
Yes, Patrick Swayze is thin. But… Who said Patrick Swayze was dead?! He’s very much “alive and in treatment” says his rep. Like Farrah Fawcett, the resilient actor reminds us of how important it is to dance and always have the time of our lives. Prayers go Swayze’s and Fawcett’s way today from Horiwood.Com.
