SANTA GETS A VISIT FROM BRITNEY SPEARS
I don’t know which is cuter, this image of Britney Spears and a fellow Santa fan paying a visit to this years grey power working actor in the red and white suit (that Brit Brit uploaded to her Facebook fans page) or these two puppies in the matching red and white machine wool knit dog sweaters, I found quite randomly on Tumblr?
Which pic do you think is cuter? Or shall we just make it a tie. It’s an American miracle that Britney Spears has been cute for so many years now bar that slightly loco ugly crazy-in-Hollywood patch, but hey – who’s to judge? It just made Spears more interesting as a small town Kentucky star who earned her big city stripes in L.A. Having shared that, twins in Hollywood are pretty hard to beat. ;)

DISNEY TURNS TO BRITNEY SPEARS AND JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE TO MENTOR CHILD STARS
True fact – America produces the most fun teenage experience in the world that is media savvy. In particular a vision of the teen of California. Creating such pictures of California youth is a big global industry industry the world loves.
This year, Selena Gomez was the third most popular name in entertainment in the US. Miley Cyrus no.7. What both stars have in common is that they were spun concurrently via Disney’s child-star making factory. Selena in direct response to Miley’s star phenomenon no one quite expected to occur as evidently as it did.
The U.K Daily News reports that Disney has appealed to Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake to help mentor its child stars and ex-stars–in sharing about making the transitions as famous kids to adults.
Good luck with that! There’s not really a “From fame to real life” manual–it’s up to every individual to navigate that for themselves–but I like the sentiment of mentoring. Sounds wise. The weird thing about Disney is that child actors aren’t really thought about while they make the lucrative bucks for Disney–their problems begins when the child star realizes how much Disney (or the world of Entertainment) has taken from their young lives in the fame trade-off. Is Disney doing damage control here? Looks like it.
However, Disney is the surest way to create child stars from America perceived to be credible in the world. Such is the enduring legacy of Walt Disney as a star brand.

THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – WED 12.8.10
Kim Kardashian is the number 1 reality TV star earner of 2010. Jessica Simpson has quietly built an empire of $750 million this year with shoes, denim, swimwear, fragrances, and accessories–affordability to people is how she did it.
Achieving that goal in a global economic crises was no small feat. Good for her! Britney Spears, Jason Trawicke holiday in Mexico (below) and Jennifer Hudson is spotted with baby Daniel Ortega today. Cute. Hudson inspires us with an anthem of being grateful for the Spirit of Love that always brings us on through every threat hurdle or fear in life, as good shines in the World.
If there’s one person in America with first hand knowledge of the depth of love that resides in the American people and this nation’s great spirit it is this young lady. When she sings she dispels fear, instills courage and restores faith in the America Dream. I had the privilege to see Jennifer live because a friend kindly made that moment happened. We never left her concert the same. She’s a gift.
On that note–Let’s go people. Up!

GRATITUDE – 39 THINGS TO BE THANKFUL FOR IN AMERICA
No one can get in the way of what I feel for you–songwriter, Alicia Keys
To be thankful of life and to value it, is always to hold the keys of the kingdom’s expansion. Here’s 29 things I’m thankful for having lived in America for four and a half years:
1. clean water. 2. enough food to feed everyone. 3. good humored people. 4. freedom of speech. 5. freedom of expression 6. enough homes to house everyone. 7. Barack Obama and the Obama family 8. some of the best smiles in the world. 9. fun. 10. diversity. 11. spirit. 12. new technology. 13. the American people. 14. country music. 15. best live concerts. 16. california. 17. african-american people. 18. native american indians. 19. choice. 20. passion. 21. demonstrative people. 22. diversity of 50 states. 23. Hawaii. 24. New York City. 25. enough medicine and skills to cure people/ medical research. 26. gifted filmmakers. 27. football. 28. generosity of spirit. 29. Maori and Kiwi in hollywood. 30. innovation. 31. big thinking nation. 32. America’s children and elderly. 33. Hispanic-Americans 34. America is a haven for Jewish people. 35. America is a haven for Arab people. 36. Peace keeping role. 37. fireworks displays. 38. ice cream flavors. 39. Saying “God Bless America” is still the way you show you deeply love your nation.
What most excites me is America’s potential to be realigned and focused towards ‘a new American life-style revolution’ and an incredible future ahead. Living here, I have been a part of this culture changing in tough years– I believe for the better and the good.
To read more on why gratitude is America’s most attractive trait this decade, this events company Premiere In A Box says it all in their website copy when defining what L.I.F.E means to them. Read it to be inspired. Fun. They are also based in Canada too.

GUESS WHAT? BRITNEY SPEARS ANNOUNCES A NEW ALBUM
While her pop star competitors have been trying to wipe her off the pop music landscape by doing “I sing live” Vs those other people who do “lip service’ or lip syncing performances–disses as she’s had a few months off performing–Britney Spears isn’t having a bar of it.
She’s back, announcing a new album. In fairness to Brit Brit –she’s like Janet Jackson‘s baby white sister from Kentucky who values Dancers as much as live singers who don’t dance but that Spears knows are equally important in entertainment. She values dance as an art. I go for that.
Spears is as American as MacDonalds. She can never be replaced. To see her live is to see a living tabloid star turning on a show. She’s quite surreal live. Here’s her promo album teaser.
Hot!

STAR MAGAZINE’S BRITNEY SPEARS COVER
Here’s Star Magazine‘s domestic violence and battery Britney Spears cover this week, that the pop star’s management has denied as being false. Dramatic, even if it is not true.
D.V statistics always rise close to the end of year holidays with increased financial/ family pressures causing pressure, so perhaps this is a good tabloid cover to bring awareness to this fact–to respect women always, especially at this time of year.

THE JASON TRAWICKE, BRITNEY-BEATING RUMOR IS THANKFULLY NOT TRUE
A rumor surfaced via Jason Alexander‘s camp, that Jason Trawicke has been beating Britney Spears. Radar online provided a tape of a taped conversation between Alexander and a voice believed to be Brit Brits. The female voice said: ‘Trawicke beat on me,’ that he’d ask to marry Britney but she’d declined, and that her father Jamie Spears is so furious with Trawicke that he has “a shotgun and will use it.”
Spears camp has responded via her Manager that these rumors are not true and Spears has had no contact with Alexander in years. The audio tap can be listened to here.
Any truth in a rumor like this would be the last thing Spears needs. Jason too. [Subtext - Spears has an agent and a manager. They are not one and the same person--as she dates her agent]. The issue does raise awareness to domestic violence though–and that this is always wrong.

DANCE VIDEO – FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA LEARNS INDIAN DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY
Watch clip here.
FLOTUS, Michelle Obama, laid all her American dance moves aside and leaped into some new fun and learning, dancing with young people in India.
Their traditional music, is a little bit hip, as reflected in this dance video too of Beyonce dancing at a block party with arms raised, Indian style also. (Kylie Minogue‘s arm/ hand movements choreography from her new music video Get Outta My Way, a few weeks before Beyonce was filmed, doing Indian-styled hip hop choregraphy, also reflects the same trait. Hands expression in dance is India).
Nice cross-cultural similarities being found and created right now in world history (in arts and cultural performing arts) between America and India with Mrs Obama. Quite novel really, who ever would have thought?
Also Britney Spears Bollywood choreography in her Circus World Tour was also a forward-thinking example of this. The most successful cross-over American artist in India’s history is Michael Jackson (1/4 of all music download in India, is that of MJ’s). Nice to see Michelle Obama going after the Jackson golden trail of cultural appeal that Indians like… in the dance of life that in universally shared by us all.
Janet Jackson also demonstrated this in her no. 1 hit, Runaway -the music video,15-years ago for American women crossing over into India by paying tribute and respect to Indian women’s legacy of dance as performing artists. That clip below. Michelle Obama makes it look so natural and easy for America to dance Indian. Love it, just like the world loves Janet doing the same thing. Mrs Obama is the first First Lady of America to do this. Go Michelle!:
Of course, being a Kiwi I ask the question, what would Bollywood musicals choreography look like, filmed in the colorful magic of 3D cinematic mastery? Now there’s the future of cinema and musical cinema(s) bridge-building cross-culturally smart, right there. A part of it, anyway. Peter Jackson directing a simulation of the Taj Mahal imagery in 3D could be quite hot, when filming action and choreography. Watching Mrs Obama perform in the above clip also reminds me of Avondale, a city in Auckland The Supercity and the culturally rich Kiwi-Indian community of New Zealand. Love them.

BOLLYWOOD FILMMAKING by KEANU REEVES
Love it. Not to be outdone by Tom Cruise‘s big budget movie, Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol, filming in Dubai this week, Keanu Reeves updates Hollywood’s cross-cultural appeal with a shout out to Bollywood (this year) on the set of his new movie, Generation Um. Go fella!
The Gatorade reference is a laugh in that Britney Spears eating her Cheetos kinda way. Incidentally, Britney just tweeted: “Have you guys seen Will Smith‘s daughter @OfficialWillow‘s video? SOOOO CUTE!!!! http://goo.gl/9Bpm -Britless than a minute ago via web.”
Very funny of Spears. But also funny as Willow‘s song, is exactly what Tom and Keanu do in their films and as actions stars. Here’s that video again.

MANA – TE PIRINGA KAPA HAKA GLEE CLUB – SING “AND NOW LET THE WEAK SAY I AM STRONG” IN MAORI
Ko au, ko koe. Ko koe, ko au. I am you. You are I. One –Cliff Curtis, wedding ring inscription
A smile is your passport to anywhere–Horiwood’s dad.
If you’re happy, you’ll notify your face–Rob Packer, pianist/songwriter, NZ
Te Whare e tu nei, Aue karanga mai–This haus that stands, calls–Kataraina Mataira, songwriter
Ka kata roa tatou, Ka kahanui tatou katoa–In laughter is our unanimous great strength–Horiwood
I’ve showcased their a capella singing talents on this blog before, here they are again. With such beautiful smiles, voices and wearing subtle capes – they are like Polynesian super heroes to me, when looking at them from Hollywood. Te Piringa Kapa Haka (Maori Cultural Glee Club) sing in beautiful harmony together. They sing of gratitude. Some of the lyrics translated in English are these:
“And now, let the weak say I am strong. Let the poor say I am rich…
With grateful hearts, we (collectively, in unison as one) give thanks”
Culturally rich, beautiful, spiritually and culturally-nuanced entertainment, in harmony and unison. I love these kids. Their message is UP! and so Hollywood Maori groovy. Go Te Piringa. Go Kapa Haka. And go hori entertainers of the world. Fun! These young people have a spirit of gratitude, a rareness of sweetness and diplomacy that is needed for all children today in our times. They embody youthful potential of smiling faces shared with each other as young people, celebrating the unique gift of cummunity. A universal trait that should not be diminished by economics. They are winners, with their sweetness.
It is my belief, that gratitude and celebration of thankfulness, helps paradigm-shift young people from economic lack, leading to depression (robbing life from the young) -but gratitude moves teenagers into a realization that friends, community, family, culture, art and the performance arts together are always a young person’s treasure. No economic grinch or pinch of circumstance can take that away - which is why I share them with you all as worthy Hollywood entertainment today. Go kids!
This one going up for fans of Glee here in the US as reflection of Glee diversity of a nation that is an ally of America. And in support of New Zealand’s very own Hilary Clinton-esque Maori woman politician, Hekia Parata in recognition of her current Mana campaign and what this means for The World.
[Lea Michele and friends of Club Glee take the cover of GQ Magazine. Scandalous! Image via Cover Awards]
Hekia Parata is a person I proudly associate myself to being from New Zealand and a resident of California - in recognition of her potential to further Maori and Polynesian culture, entertainment in the world – as a healing remedy in entertainment and world politics to remind all people, to stop, consider nature, the environment, the earth’s resources, to consider people – regardless of tribe, of race, of ethnicity, to consider Spirit – and to always give thanks in a shared celebration of life. This is her armory as a politician of future significance. When I met Hekia at Kai on the Bay, now Kai in The City of Wellywood, 7 years ago, she sparkled, wearing a large single white diamond, a centre piece gem stone of Africa, worn around her neck.
Mauri ‘Ola from Hollywood. Btw: Hekia can sing like these soloists. I’ve seen her, sing at a dinner table for 15. After dining on seafood bisque and koura as a main (lobster) in Wellywood, Hekia then sung with her friends! An amazing born performer. She can sing and entertain. Hekia this one is for you and Porirua, especially and what this city can give the world from Wellywood. In celebration of Maori, Polynesian, Kiwi kids potential and New Zealand culture of cinema and the Performing Arts to bless the world, this post goes up with a sense of joy and pride in the Entertainment Capitol of The World. ICU.
Did I mention Hekia has the best “hair care” in the world too, naturally. She’s like a government Work Hori In Progress meeting – she can Whip That Hair! like a colorful Willow Smith Snr. She’s all about rocking good hair in politics, like many First Ladies of the Political set are in The World at this minute. Not to name names from the Cameroon or the US, either. Lol! Fun ahead. :)
[This image - Black Paua Torch of Liberty - Black leather, with triple-stitched black cotton on Paua shell (symbolizing, the eyes that see of our ancestors and leaders as carved on every marae wall in "wood" of every Maori tribe, unifying US - for Hekia Parata and leaders who always make you smile. This is their gift as unique politicians. Memorable leaders, born once in a lifetime for such a time as this. Louder!]
~Written in the spirit of Te Rangi Hiroa - Sir Peter Buck from American shores to his friend Sir Apirana Ngata in New Zealand, to strengthen leadership – with the tenderness of Maori Aroha. A reminder that long before we were ever given titles, our ancestors chose us to be here, and our conviction as Indigenous Peoples also bore witness with our breath that breathes richly today in our spoken reo (voices)–of the fact that we always chose ourselves to be taonga of The World and speak Life into eachother’s wairua (spirit) to strengthen, so that all could benefit. [Ps: Waiting to win an election sux. It's like waiting for high school exam results, just a little. Here's some Glee paying tribute to a great, Britney Spears, to amuse, while dancing, campaigning and waiting for those results, with a Taylor Lautner reference as a reminder of what Indigenous kids of any culture can achieve, if gym and action star trained and fit - with the right support needed and allocated. Polynesian super heroes are the future of 3D Hollywood and Wellywood action films if given the opportunity to be.]
U.S WEEKLY TAKE US INSIDE BRITNEY SPEARS RECOVERY
After Britney Spears made $60+ million last year, I’d totally forgot, she was in recovery from anything. But yes, she still is. Recovery is a process.
In a very Eminem like story, US Weekly take us inside the resilient pop star’s world of being a mom with a merch empire to manage.

RITA WILSON MAKES A POP CULTURAL FASHION STATEMENT AT THE EMMYS
Arriving with Tom Hanks to Emmys 2010 last night in L.A, you can’t help but smile at Rita Wilson‘s fashion statement.
Although she looks like a walking crystal chandelier from head to toe, Wilson sends a message to Lady Gaga‘s crystal pop iconography, and symbology (outside of the ‘chandlier’ context).
Especially on her feet. Red carpet burn! What a diva. :) Wilson joins Britney Spears who sent the same message to America last night too, in the form of Spears’ TVC.
By the way, for late comers to Lady Gaga’s live concerts. Those who went to see her in L.A last time Gaga performed recently, were totally glamoured by her. I’m kind of already moving on from the initial wow of Gaga until she creates some new songs. I’m more of a Rihanna kind of lad as Love the way you lie is a song that’s more now which is the whole point of pop stars.
Go the Carribean and fusion artists like Riri, I say. But I still like some of Gaga’s music. Her ballad’s especially. I’m aware that 25% of this blog’s audience are avid Gaga fans. New fans say that her ‘support homeless teens’ charity “gotcha gotcha” video in her concert, was what converted them to be avid fans of hers. Proof perhaps, that if you give, love from others follows in the fame game. Giving is always key. And for that I applaud Germanotta’s efforts.
Tom Hanks at the Emmys last night? . . . well, he still turned up to the show with that same expression on his mug. Lol! Thank goodness for Rita. The duo make a good Hollywood team.

RADIANCE TVC by BRITNEY SPEARS
Choose your own destiny–2010′s wisdom
Just thirty seconds of camera work towards her next ten million dollar check, Britney Spears releases her new TVC for fragrance Radiance at the same time her BFF Neil Patrick Harris is at the Emmy Awards 2010 in the world spotlight.
Spears is one of the savviest marketing stars in the game. Good work.
A single word (you can now smell -clever!) is Britney Spears’ message today. Which is:
“glowing. glow. aureole. corona. the outermost region of the sun’s atmosphere. visible as a white halo during a solar eclipse. light. visible light. visible radiation. physics-electromagnetic radiation that can produce a visual sensation. ie: light was filtered through a soft glass window. effulgence. radiancy. refulgence. refulgency. shine. brightness. ie: the location of a visual perception along a continuum from black to white. gleam. lambency. gleaming. glow. an appearance of reflected light. sheen. shininess. luster. lustre. the visual property of something that shines reflected light. burnish. glossiness. polish. gloss. the property of being smooth and shiny. an attractive combination of good health and happiness; “the radiance of her countenance.” happiness or felecity: state of well-being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. good health. healthiness. the state of being vigorous and free from bodily or mental disease.”
What a powerful message in a single word as Spears reminds her fans, what a star means and the purpose of what ‘celebrities’ are meant to do in the world too. Go Southern girl now in L.A!
After reading all of that, how can you not feel radiant? Just reaffirm these words daily and you’ve got the message. What a word! And isnt being ‘celebrity’ all about marketing the five senses of you audience fanbase. Spears does it the best.

WEAVING HUMOR INTO HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITY by BRITNEY SPEARS
Britney Spears always make me smile. The American, who does hairography choreography the best out of any American woman on a stage live in concert, (yes, she is even Beyonce‘s teacher at this gig and important American artform) loves to make people feel comfortable, when not ‘performing.’
Like any gracious artist, Spears weaves her brand of humor into the art of Hollywood celebrity–by choosing to expose her weave and ‘constructed star persona’ to her fans. All while running around being a mother to her sons. What a hoot.
I like Britney because she’s real. She adds to the art of being a Californian transplant by choice. Her weave is her statement of being transplanted in Hollywood, yet never fitting in with the A-List kids, movie star set of Hollywood, yet she earns more than many of them do. Go figure! She’s a trooper for Hollywood.

BRITNEY SPEARS FASHION GLEE
Two things. Britney Spears fashion line for Candies, selling at Kohls is a tweens-and-up collection of separates and dresses ranging from $14 to $78.
Since June her line has been selling like hot cakes.
And, Britney has also confirmed she’s going to appear in Glee to move that line some more. She’s a smart girl who knows her market and when to rock out to Starbucks to amuse them. These days she can be seen in Forbes Magazine again. Not a bad comeback kid of the 2010′s is Brit Brit.
A marketing queen extraordinaire. When you think about it, 4 Starbucks coffees can buy you a piece of Britney’s line. Low hanging fruit that’s easy to pick for the little people and she’s always recession friendly to the majority, except for when she stings like a bee with her concert tickets. The fashion line being affordable, thata girl!

MODEL CITIZEN STEPH KOUTSIMANIS-SMITH AND MUSIC PLAYLISTS by BEYONCE, LADY GAGA, RIHANNA, BRITNEY SPEARS, CHRISTINA ARGUILERA
Want a whole afternoon listening to music that America’s super diva’s of music and pop culture listen to: then this is your lucky day. Via ONTD Beyonce‘s Music Playlist is listed as being:
1. Don’t Stop – Brazilian Girls
2. Need U Bad – Jasmine Sullivan
3. We Major – Kanye West
4. The Greatest – Michelle Williams
5. Careless Whisper – George Michael
6. Focus – Brandy
7. Electric Feel – MGMT
Britney Spears tributes Beyonce and Eminem as her listening palate with mostly r n’ b artists on her list. Lady Gaga goes rock and Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson hits in her playlists, and, Rihanna gives a shout out to Miley Cyrus in her playlist, while Christina Arguilera has the most interesting, going old school jazz and blues divas.
Image above of Steph Koutsimanis-Smith – Oak Ridge Family supermodel (Greek-Samoan-Brit Kiwi fusion) of Auckland The Supercity shines above as our ‘Cover Girl’ online in the City of Angels on Horiwood.Com. Naturally beautiful, like a California Gurl, or a fragrant Kiwi-Aussie flower of Savaii, Apia and Tamaki.
Here’s some Jazmine Sullivan from Beyonce’s playlist. An artist who is art, yet doesn’t get enough radio airplay yet. From Britney Spears playlist we have some Janet to get down and dance too (a reminder to dancers Don’t Stop). Spears is also listening to Boys II Men –whose harmonies remind me of Steph‘s family when they “whip it together” and all sing in unison. In African-American circles of Los Angeles, when Steph’s family sings, you would describe them as “divinely anointed.” They’ve always been like that. Born this way. There’s no one quite like The Smiths of Aotearoa when they sing as a family. Breath taking entertainment.
