I was thinking how in New Zealand, we hardly devote any time, energy, spend to the production of our “national anthem” being sung. In America, the singing of the anthem — is a production. Watch this clip.
What: A walk down memory lane–how a national anthem should and can be sung.
Who: Patti Labelle sings the American Nation Anthem (with power and gusto) for Venus Williams at US Open final at the request of President Bill Clinton. Watch that HERE. Amazin,
Above version Nona Gaye sings a (mellow and chill version duet) of the Star Spangled Banner (the SSB) with her late dad, Marvin Gaye. Both cute versions.
As a Kiwi – living in the US – it’s weird how New Zealand and America’s national anthems – both have the words “ramparts” in them. In New Zealand – we are “freedom’s ramparts.” Check out Patti Labelle giving a clue, what the sound of freedom is. Her version deserve THREE stars from Hollywood, I reckon. Talk about blowing racism out of the American air! Patti Labelle is something else. An amazing performance and picture of an American-ness vibe in the clip, I want to be a part of as a Kiwi American-Maori.
Wow!

Here’s ten things about sports psychologist Bill Cole that we can learn from:
1.Bill Cole, MS, MA, has had a larger profile than most in the competitive field of sport psychology for over three decades, as a student, writer-teacher, athlete-coach, personal trainer, speaker and someone who consults others in sports fields. His branding is peak performance mental game. By the sounds of things, Bill would be perfect for mountain climbers, with that branding.
2. Bill’s website says he is an award-winning scholar-athlete. Claims to fame include coaching major-league pro sports and big-time college athletics. Mr Cole is a multiple Hall-Of-Fame honoree and Bill has created leading-edge workshop packages, seminars and training programs he sells to whoever books his time and buys his resources.
4. Bill’s is not media shy. That’s good to see. He’s featured in Golf Magazine, Tennis Magazine, Runner’s World, Fitness Magazine, Yahoo! Sports, MSNBC.com, The San Francisco Examiner and Chronicle, The San Jose Mercury News, The Denver Post, The Detroit News, The Buffalo News to name but a few sports psychologist paparazzi moments of Mr Cole.
5. His website states Cole, speaks from “a wide and deep background as a high achiever across many disciplines.” With this branding Bill could make a perfect mental coach for an athlete like Phillipe Costeau Jr., and other sea diving explorer types too if he brushed up on his French philosophy and psychological tools.
As Chelsea Clinton swanned down the aisle with beau Marc Mezvinsky, Elvira Kanim, the late baby sister of legendary fashion designer, Miss Elliettehad the most beautiful, touching, heart-felt private family send off. Special. Kim Bryan did a sweet service, Bruce Bryan M.Dwas on iphone sermon interjections and humor, Aunt Elaine‘s story never had a punch line but nobody cared she added effervescence, and fly-girl Lea Kanim was the hostest with the mostest on the day. Superwoman. Suzie added a smile of Hollywood, military glamor. More on that event, when the family have decided which photographs, can be shared with you. What a sweet lady Elvira Kanim was. She was both a gorgeous Aunty and a fun chiffon minx. RIP honey. :)
Celebrities. Hollywood news topics. Entertainment news hot potatoes from here in Hollywood. Here’s our top ten entertainment posts for Saturday July 31st 2010. Thanks everyone. Life is peachy.
And to tidy things up a little with some ‘overwhelming emotion’ like a Presidential family ocean: Here’s what the Clinton family said about their special family occasion: “Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day.”
A sweet day of family across America. Oh… and go here to buy Bob’s new romance novel of young love, set in Israel and Palestine. Author Robert Ellis is pictured here with Rev. Dan Brown –the young Pastor, at the Wayfarers Chapel in Palos Verdes, a picturesque town that means ‘a canopy of green trees.’ Bob’s book links: Books-A-Million & Amazon.com.

Lady Gaga‘s leading man, Johnny Markoudakis sends his well wishes to Stefani Germanotta on her selection as Time Magazine‘s most influential artist of 2010.
This post going out from West Hollywood to Stefani Germanotta and Tribe Gaga, where Johnny is King.
Johnny Markoudakis appears with Gaga in this video for Nothing Else I Can Say..

For Lady Gaga‘s reminder to us all as an artist, that creativity is the way forward–to get out of debt faster… her appearance as one of Time Magazine‘s 100 Most Influential People in the world, appearing with a past US President (Bill Clinton) is very much deserved.
Go Gaga!
Meanwhile Gaga’s most Latino friendly song, Alejandro is currently, number 27 and climbing on the New Zealand Top 40 music charts. She hot!
My goodness. Washington is so Hollywood. Here are the political and social actors today in DC on Washington Mall, acting the historic Health Care Reform Bill’s passing in the beautiful US of A. What a show.
In what the New York Times called “an extraordinary session,” President Obama began his speech by quoting Abraham Lincoln. “I am not bound to win, but I’m bound to be true,” he said. “I’m not bound to succeed, but I’m bound to live up to what light I have.”
“You have a chance to make good on the promises you made,” Obama told the House members. “This is one of those moments. This is one of those times where you can honestly say to yourself: ‘Doggone it, this is exactly why I came here. This is why I got into politics. This is why I got into public service. This is why I made these sacrifices.’”
Washington Post media columnist Howard Kurtz described Obama’s address as “the most emotional speech I’ve ever seen him give.”
It is totally groovy that 95% of all Americans stand the chance of having health insurance. This is beginning to feel like a civilized nation, in regards to access to adequate health care for all. That’s amazing.

Former President of the USA, Bill Clinton was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan as I write..
Clinton’s earlier heart issues are the reason being cited for the medical emergency, requiring a stent procedure. Clinton survived quadruple heart bypass surgery back in 2004 and let’s hope he survives this heart scare too.
Love going out to the Clinton family today from Hollywood.
I hear you call my name and it feels like home… like a prayer.
Inspiring words were spoken into Haiti’s future from Bill Clinton with a powerful performance of Like A Prayersung from Madonna‘s heart for Haiti. A rousing performance from the Queen of pop and one of the most generous humanitarians on the planet year by year.
Giving more where it most matters is the key to happiness. You know it. Madonna starts at the 1.57 mark.
Just like a prayer… I’ll take you there…

Former President George W. Bush released this statement: ”I salute Leonardo DiCaprio for his extraordinary generosity. This donation sends a clear message to the people of Haiti that America’s commitment to helping rebuild their country is strong. I thank Leo for setting a wonderful example for all Americans of helping a neighbor in need.”
Two things: a) America loves her neighbors. b) Leonardo DiCaprio strategically donated to the charity representing two US Presidents–one a Republican President and one a Democrat President in a unifying display of patriotism to help others.
A good message from DiCaprio today to send out to the world as America unites to give heart and soul for Haiti in the Hope for Haiti Telethon event that is being broadcast live from both America and the United Kingdom to an expected audience of 64o million people on the planet.

Dr Mark Hyman is in Haiti. He’s journalling his day. His journal entry for January 18th 2010, begins with these two paragraphs:
“The country has one doctor for 11,000 people. Electricity and running water are available in Port-au-Prince for two hours — on a good day. The chief surgeon at the General Hospital (the largest public national hospital) told me that patients often die in the operating room because the generator fails — on a good day. Under these circumstances, a small group from Partners in Health, led by Paul Farmer, is trying to resurrect the city’s most important hospital from the rubble.
I have been there with a small group of seven surgeons, doctors and nurses who performed the first surgery. That was four days after the quake shook for 15 seconds — flattening the city and over half of the buildings, including the hospital where 150 nurses remain buried in the nursing school. The sickly, sweet stench of death and rotting flesh fills the air as I walk by.”
Kristen Stewart’s simplicity and beauty dazzles on the cover of Dazed & Confused magazine. Totally trippy! While Madonna celebrated her 51st birthday, with three of her children. Even trippyer! She’s looking good.

Blog numbers don’t lie on the internet. Their numbers are 3-4 months ahead of magazines in who the world’s biggest stars are.
These are the top ranking stars and celebrities so far this year, here in Hollywood. For whatever reason, you the global audience on Horiwood.Com voted for them and gave them the attention you feel they deserve as entertainers who amuse you. Enjoy your celebrities for 2009!
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie may be what everyone perceive to be the most searched for celebrities in the world, but it is actually surprise up-and-coming stars, like Nikki Reid of The Twilight Saga, Johnny Markoudakis of West Hollywood and Miss Tessa (a fashion designer, artist and model) of New Zealand who keep the fame game interesting.
Of course Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett’s deaths and Rihanna’s domestic violence issue with Chris Brown have been some of the biggest media moments this year in entertainment. 2009′s popularity this year however, has to belong to author Stephenie Meyer and the bevvy of young Hollywood actors that she created and spun into young Hollywood superstars with her Twilight Saga novels through Summit Entertainment.
Of noteworthy significance is what Stephenie Meyer has done for Native American people in giving young American ‘Indian’ actors a center stage spotlight in mainstream cinemas again in our times. That’s amazing today, as the blog numbers show.
So, it’s with great pleasure that I present to you, your 50 top celebrities on Horiwood.Com. Thanks Team.
1. NIKKI REID:She is the naughty girl of the Twilight Saga film franchise, whose often held under wraps, by Summit Entertainment. When the heat was on Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s chemistry, it was Nikki’s scene stealing appearance with Native American Indian youngster, Taylor Lautner, that garnered Nikki Reid the top spot all year on Horiwood.Com. This one pic is the most searched for on this entertainment and news website in Hollywood. Reid is a big ‘sleeping’ star in the making.
2. DAVID CARRADINE: the veteran, Hollywood actor’s kinky & mysterious death, was a fascinating look into the darker side of human nature. People all over the world are still interested in David Carradine’s tragic passing.
3. KATHERINE HEIGL: She’s one of the most underpaid TV actresses in prime time. Blake Lively of Gossip Girl earns thousands more than Heigl does on hit medic show, Grey’s Anatomy. Heigl’s costar, Ellen Pompeio does too. Despite, being under appreciated in the TV pay stakes and being gracious about it, Katherine Heigl is often framed as a b*tch by LA media. However, my friends who work on the set of Grey’s each day, say that you will never find a sweeter star whose more of a team player in Hollywood than “Ms Heigl.”
Her divaness to turn on a show Hollywood style becomes apparent on the red carpet, or in the quirky romantic comedy films she appears in (Knocked Up and The Ugly Truth). Heigl channels old Hollywood glamour. She is the real deal, and comes in at #3 on Horiwoood.Com’s most searched for celebrities.
4. HAYDEN PANETTIERE: The stories that the film crew of Heroes TV series, tell in Hollywood of Hayden Panettiere are hysterical. This girl is not a child in any way, but she has a cult teen following here in America. Hayden Panettiere is a young actress who fascinates American girls. They all want to be like her. This image of Hayden in a country straw hat, and cut off shorts, clocks in at number 4 for the year to date, on Horiwood.Com. America loves a country girl gone bad. Add Heroes’ action, super-powers to her and Hayden Panettiere has it made.
5. LADY GAGA: When it comes to the world of pop, there is no other debut artist who has made the impressions with music, attitude and show-personship than Stefani Germanotta’s Lady Gaga creation. She always brings the fierce, is a great songwriter and lyricist; and Lady Gaga will wear anything outrageous to capture a headline every week. She’s a relentless marketing machine. However, it is her claim that Lady Gaga is bisexual, that ensured her rise to fame this year, as this post proves on Horiwood.Com.
6. AMBER ROSE: She is not a singer, she is not an actress. Her claim to fame is that she is an African American model, who happened to date hip hop artist, Kanye West. But Amber Rose totally fascinates people daily on Horiwood.Com. She is the most underrated person on the celebrity set in America. But her fame online supersedes many stars who still say that they are stars. The internet never lies. That’s Amber Rose’s proof in today’s celebrity rankings. This girl is huge!
Her sultry beauty and no nonsense diva attitude, combine the best of fashion, urban chic groove and hip hop music. She just is who she is, a true star as her ratings position and popularity reveals on Horiwood.Com. Amber Rose is the new Nicole Richie, basically.
7. KRISTEN STEWART: The Twilight Saga’s, Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse films show how one author’s vision can create a superstar if they have the beauty, smarts and chops to fill the role. Stephenie Meyer gave actress Kristin Stewart, the chance to show the world who she really is. She’s a stunner and a big star on Horiwood.Com. LA raised, Stewart’s family all work in film, on the crew side of the production line. When Kristen stepped over the gaffer tape line, she has never looked back and a superstar, playing Twilight’s Bella was born.
I love her singing voice too. Like her face, her voice is so pretty and soulful. A girl who can make both Robert Pattinson hot and also Taylor Lautner so hot, has got to have enough sensuality to do this. Stewart proves she has. She is often a hate target of bloggers like PerezHilton.Com and female fans in love with her costar, Robert Pattinson, but Stewart keeps going from strength to strength here in her native LA. We love her!
8. MILEY CYRUS: She is because she is. She stepped into the ready made American shoes, of Britney Spears, teen pop star sensationalism. Having met Miley Cyrus in person, there is nothing to explain why America’s reigning teen superstar has the ranking that she does on Horiwood.Com with our global audience. I swear, Miley is so much prettier in person. She’s also incredibly smart. In person, Cyrus is so humble. That’s the shocking part. She’s a bundle of sweetness that fears God and who is naughty a lot too like any kid her own age, adjusting, growing and living life.
In spite of being a global megastar, Miley Cyrus is just such an American teenager! Love her!!!
9. MICHAEL JACKSON: He was the King of Pop and the third most famous person on the planet, after the Queen of England and The Pope. The world stopped to honor a person who was rich in complexity and talent. He paved the way for all African Americans to be loved in high profile positions in America and worldwide. This cannot be diminished or forgotton as your votes this year show today.
There will never be a performer quite like Michael Jackson. Barry Gordy described Michael Jackson as “the greatest entertainer on the planet” at his memorial service. Too true!
10. FARRAH FAWCETT: Charlie’s Angels hottest star ever. The beauty of Farrah Fawcett was always her strength of spirit. This became apparent as the lovely Farrah left this world, losing her battle to anal cancer. She ranks by all audience viewers worldwide at #10 on Horiwood.Com so far in 2009. What a gem of a human being!
The basics of life for many in Africa, like access to fresh water don’t exist, unless we help. Matt Damon’s Water.orgis helping reach 890 million people to help 2.5 billion people who need fresh water. Go to water.org and donate today. Thank you.
Here in Hollywood this is how entertainment news was racked up by you worldwide, here in Hollywood on Horiwood.Com. Enjoy!
US Weekly is touting, Jon Gosselin’s 22year-old friend, Hailey Glassman’s mugshot, from when she was in college caught for smoking the ganja.
She joins past presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton for that in American history.
Gosh, get over it already US Weekly. Love the Chola eyebrows look from 2005 though. Lady Gaga would be totally jealous of those. In this pic, Hailey’s aren’t drawn on, they’re for real!
Airforce One has touched down in Germany in the country that loves Barack Obama. Obama will hold talks here with German Chancellor Angela Merkel before travelling with her and Elie Wiesel, the Nobel laureate and Holocaust survivor, to the Nazi-era concentration camp Buchenwald. Obama’s visit to Buchenwald is significant to him as a great-uncle, Charlie Payne, helped liberate the camp while serving with US forces in World War II.
On a slightly more entertaining note, here are 10 Hot Posts Right Now on Horiwood.Com:
Recently George W.Bush joked publicly with Bill Clinton in Toronto, that looking like a “George W.Bush look-a-like” does not fare well in his favor these days in his home town of Dallas Texas.
Well imagine if you looked like Bernie Madoff?
For Paul Cohen, his uncanny likeness to Bernie Madoff has paid off for the 64 year-old, Jersey City man. Edmund Druilhert put out a casting call for a docudrama, “Madoff: Made Off With America.” Mr Cohen auditioned (ie: turned up) and landed the role. Says Druilhert, “[Cohen] had the best lips. I have to say he stood out.”
Perhaps George W. Bush could change his name, and go for those Goerge W.Bush look-a-like docudrama roles too then now that he’s exited The White House. :)
Prince Harry planted a tree at the Ground Zero site in New York yesterday. Between Prince Harry Windsor and First Lady Michelle Obama, these two world leaders are making gardening look very en vogue. 10 Hot Posts Right Now here in Hollywood for your entertainment and celebrity news on Horiwood.Com are:
“Welcome to the Bill and George Show” was how George W. Bush introduced his guest appearance to 5,000 people in Toronto with fellow former President, Bill Clinton.
George, is one funny man… Here’s what he said:
Bush said that leaving the White House was like going from “100 miles an hour to zero.”
“A fellow walked up and said,’Hey, has anybody ever told you look like George W. Bush?’ I said, ‘It happens all the time.’ He said, ‘It sure must make you mad.’”
Nice to see Bush has got a sense of humor. It helps! (more…)
