President Obama was happy with the progress made over the last week in D.C. He says:
“A lot of folks in this town predicted that, after the midterm elections, Washington would be headed for more partisanship and more gridlock,” he said to a roomful of people who had predicted just that. “And instead, this has been a season of progress for the American people.”
“The most productive post-election period we’ve had in decades.”
“The most productive two years that we’ve had in generations.”
“The most significant arms-control agreement in nearly two decades.”
“The biggest upgrade of America’s food-safety laws since the Great Depression.”
“Al-Qaeda is more hunkered down than they have been since the original invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.”

SECURITY AT KAILUA WITH THE OBAMA’S VACATION, HAWAII
Michelle Obama is already in Hawaii with Malia Obama and Sasha Obama enjoying Kailua Beach for the family’s scheduled vacation. The First Family await Mr Obama‘s arrival from Washington DC. The President is expected to touch down in Hawaii tomorrow (Wednesday) to join his family.
Residents will soon feel the full impact of a presidential visit, AP reports via USA Today: The Secret Service began alerting residents of spacious homes along Kailuana Place last week that checkpoints will soon go up. Hawaiian Telecom personnel were busily repairing telephone wiring outside one of the Obama homes, which sit midway down a cul-de-sac.
Once authorities throw up a cordon around the neighborhood, simple pleasures like walking the beach or canoeing in a canal near the three houses will become difficult — if not impossible.
The Democratic president is not expected to engage in fundraisers or other overtly political acts. Dante Carpenter, chairman of the Hawaii Democratic Party, said he’s asked if Obama could be enticed into attending even a low-key event, but he hasn’t heard back.
“I think he’s been up to his eyeballs in horse manure and gun smoke, not necessarily in that order,” Carpenter said. “He may be looking for time with his family and that’s about it. I can’t blame him.”

BARBARA STREISAND AND LEADING DEMOCRATS ON OBAMA SIGNING TAX CUTS BILL
“Well, I think it’s unfair but necessary,” Barbara Sreisand said when asked by Larry King about President Obama signing the tax cut deal (a la mode) as per, a Bush President of the past.
Some on the Hollywood left, said “that’s it. I’m through.” People worry that Obama’s devout entertainment supporters will keep their wallets closed as clearly the President is surrounded by sharks. Others say, give the political scene time and Obama will be able to lead as he’s promised his supporters. Patience is urged.
Streisand to King spent her TV time persuading in a supportive vein of the relatively new President, chatting from history’s notebook pages, reminding King’s audience how both George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan showed that “people admire real strength, even though it is misguided.” Forever a believer, Streisand seemed to applaud Obama’s “open heart” and intelligence, rightly noting why more people had not recognized this man’s tremendous accomplishments to date. Her support for him remains strong.
Mike Medavoy seems done unless Republicans back off. A big financial supporter of Obama, Medovy says: “Nobody wants to be held hostage, and no country should have to pay for hostage takers. While I believe in compromise, I don’t believe in compromise with people who put a gun to your head.”
A good point because seeing Obama with so little movement in the House post midterms doesn’t make for good TV either. I mean, this is not a Western, in reverse. Isn’t the leading man supposed to call the shots. Even in the most loved Westerns of old in Texas, yep, by Hollywood accounts of Western genres ‘rules’ of Texan culture, he is.
PRESIDENT OBAMA, GEORGE W BUSH TAX CUT EXTENSIONS, AND NOT SO GOLDEN TOO TIGHT STRINGS
Honestly. I feel so sorry for President Obama. I mean, how can you lead effectively and efficiently when you’re so hamstrung by The Washington set up right now?
Anyway, The Washington Post is reporting today: “Although his liberal supporters are furious about the decision, President Obama‘s willingness to extend all of the George W. Bush-era tax cuts is part of what White House officials say is a deliberate strategy: to demonstrate his ability to compromise with Republicans and portray the president as the last reasonable man in a sharply partisan Washington.”
Critics say Obama’s stance is strategic, in an effort to win back the Independent political voters after a heavy midterm elections defeat. Pundits say this now puts Obama at potential odds with his core of Democrat liberal voters, who all feel that Obama’s penchant to compromise, cost him in the midterms.

America’s President Pardons Coke Dealers and Counterfeiters:
Andrae Crouch is as Hollywood as Michael Jackson was and Jackson’s star still is in music and entertainment. In this video clip Crouch speaks at James Cleveland‘s funeral, where he met the legend at a BBQ.
I saw Andre perform when I was about five years-old at the Auckland Town Hall, New Zealand. I saw him perform with the Jones family and the Smith family as well as Bonnie Houston of Rarotonga, New Zealand and Australia, then engaged to be married. All families along with my own, were involved in racial persecution of one person–who could not stand the fact we were colored (part Polynesian). As an ambassador of America to New Zealand in the 70′s, Mr Couch was like an angel singing before our eyes on his piano and with his siblings who pardoned us all for being in the world. He rocks.
Andrae Crouch is one of the most gifted music arrangers in American music history–often copied and imitated without credit all across his career because of Andrae’s religious beliefs that didn’t mesh well with corporates in the corporate world whose artists would incorporate Andre’s unique gospel riffs into secular hit music.
Andrae Crouch overcame these oppressors as well as a life of cocaine addiction to songwrite many well known gospel songs and to arrange the exquisite vocals on the song Man in the Mirror–an American pop anthem that became a world anthem–because of its honest message of seeing the world through another’s eyes–particularly the least, in living lives beyond the disease of entitlement. WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)–President Barack Obama chose to bless people convicted of mutilating coins, using cocaine and writing bad checks with his first presidential pardons.
In all, Obama pardoned nine people Friday for crimes dating as far back as the 1960s. Those pardoned had been sentenced to as little as one year of probation to up two years in confinement. Fines and damages for the offenders ranged from as little as $20 to $71,000.
When asked why Obama chose the group for his first pardons, Reid Cherlin, a spokesman for the White House, said, “The president was moved by the strength of the applicants’ post-conviction efforts at atonement, as well as their superior citizenship and individual achievements in the years since their convictions.”
Ronald Lee Foster of Beaver Falls, Pa., was among those pardoned. He was sentenced in North Carolina in 1963 to one year of probation and a $20 fine for “Mutilation of coins.” The statute he was charged under says it’s unlawful to, among other things, alter, deface, mutilate, impair, diminish, falsify, scale or lighten any U.S. coins. 
MARIAH CAREY THANKS BARACK OBAMA FOR MAKING THE WORLD ACCEPTABLY MORE DIVERSE
Mariah Carey, the Vision of Love singer who started her working career as a hairdresser’s assistant that her first boss nicknamed “Echo” who then went on to marry and divorce Sony’s Tommy Mottola of Hall & Oates management fame–has an importance message as a first time new mother-to-be via Digital Spy. Says Carey, who is ‘expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon, to media outlet British Pride:
“Having Obama in office and bringing a child into the world at this point is totally different than me feeling like an outcast when I was growing up and not feeling like it was okay to be ethnically diverse, and I can’t believe that we have arrived at this point within society.”
Mariah whose mother is an Irish-American who studied opera and whose father is African-American, explained that she felt like an “outcast” when she was younger. She believes that because of the Obamas the world lives in a new age of acceptance, understanding and grace. Well spoken.

WISDOM FROM THE BOOK IN THE PRESENCE OF A GORILLA
When I first got to Hollywood I really was deluded that I could write PR manuals. Here’s one book of snippets written for a former publicist of America’s biggest music stars that were all somehow connected to Shawn King‘s dad. I used to work in his office each day in lower Beverly Hills doing spin while he appeared on LA’s top Entertainment News Shows or in magazines talking about Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton being rogues that generated tabloid buzz in Young Hollywood on the competive club set.
On my last day working for him, I wrote this book over two nights–to say thanks for all he’d taught me. I did my interpretation of the wisdom he was always reaching for to have as a Russian-Jew descended from a tough holocaust surviving dad. His big thing, was ‘wise paragraphs’ as his favorite thing to read because he was so busy trying to conquer the world of Hollywood–hence these tips I wrote for him that I accidently re-found at My News Digest. The dude had written twenty books and I wanted to give something back to an author.
I love the internet. If you’re a blogger you’ll soon discover that you’ll have so many computers stolen, crash permanently or damaged through getting hacked here in the US, that I didn’t even have a copy of these written words anymore in doc form–but they can be found on the net–a reason why (for right or wrong) you should always have the courage to self-publish electronically.
Mr Publicist Guru, whose books on PR have been translated into 22 languages now–even in Russia and Chinese, used to say to me outrageous requests each day like, “Locate and get me US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on the phone for me, this minute.” And I would. Nuts!
She was lovely to speak to. So gracious and wise. Here’s snippets from that coffee table book, written for a PR King of LA.

WIKILEAKS DOCS ON POLITICAL LEADERS ASSESSMENTS BY THE US, AND THE SAUDI KING GIVES OBAMA A GLOWING REVIEW AS PRESIDENT

The Huffington Post is running Wikileaks docs today. The HuffPo quotes the New York Times, with these political leaders assessments and notes of other world leaders. Again, none of these statement’s have been officially confirmed via the White House press secreatary yet as being true. Here’s some of that:
The cables also provide frank assessments of foreign leaders:
Russia’s president Dmitry Medvedev “plays Robin to Putin’s Batman.”
French president Nicholas Sarkozy displayed a “thin-skinned and authoritarian personal style.”
Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is described as “feckless, vain, and ineffective as a modern European leader.”
Hamid Karzai, is “an extremely weak man who did not listen to facts but was instead easily swayed by anyone who came to report even the most bizarre stories or plots against him.”
At least one cable provides an assessment of President Obama.
“Thank God for bringing Obama to the presidency,” Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulluh told White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan in March 2009. Obama’s victory has created “great hope” in the Muslim world, he continued. “May God grant him strength and patience. May God protect him. I’m concerned about his personal safety. America and the world need such a president.”

You can be the guy who always takes the ball to the hoop and yet still comes out second best. Sometimes, the rough and tumble of the play knocks you around a bit, as America’s no. 1 man, President Barack Obama discovered after requiring 12 stitches to his lip, when playing a holiday basketball game.

PLAYING WARM HOSTS – SUSILO BAMBANG YUDHOYONO AND ANI BAMBANG YUDHOYONO – TEN THINGS ABOUT THE OBAMAS IN INDONESIA
Indonesia’s President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his lovely wife, First Lady Ani Bambang Yudhoyono hosted US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama today. Here’s a brief recap of the short visit from the O’s:
On being happy to see the Obama’s touch down in Indonesia: Indonesia was one of Obama’s childhood homes, he’s an adopted son in hearts and minds of the Indonesian people.
On Indonesia believing Obama can fix the Middle East: No. Indonesians don’t believe Mr Obama can change the situation much, or that for Indonesian Muslims either, he can bring peace to their situation and make their lives better. Realistic is good. Maybe the man will enjoy his visit then.
He brought Indonesia to a stand still: (note: hip hop performers get their asap): “We all stopped what we were doing,” said Tito, who works at the front desk at the Novotel Hotel in Balikpapan, a city on Borneo island. “Staff, guests … It’s just so amazing that he grew up here, has family here, and is now the U.S. president.” The whole nation of Indonesia were transfixed on their TV screens with the Obamas touched down on the tarmac. Nice. “We really have to greet him like a homecoming brother,” said Linggas Sitompul, a 65-year-old customer at a food stall serving Bakso, the same spicy meatball soup the president says he loved as a child.
Sentimental feelings towards Mr O: As a child Obama spent four years in Indonesia, but the people know he is not theirs. Most now recognize his visit will not improve their poverty or raise their national stature. And they know that despite feeling a kinship with the American president, in the end, he will leave and go back to the place that is really his home.
A 24 hour stop over only: “Volcanic ash of a volcano hundreds of miles (kilometers) away in Iceland was cited as the reason why Mr and Mrs Obama won’t be stopping long in Indonesia. 1700 air flights have been canceled due to the volcano’s ash clouds over Europe.
On Meeting Indonesia’s political players: “President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono presented a line of ministers to Obama, who greeted them in Indonesian.”
On reaffirming to Muslims that extremists are who America is gunning not all Mulsim people: War, unfortunately is war. However Obama intends on visiting a mosque to speak, in order to further convince Muslims that the U.S. is not waging a war on Islam, but on terrorism, and needs the help of moderates to fight it. That sounds like a money saving idea. Good.
On not recognising his hood he grew up in ’67-’71: “Obviously much has been made of the fact that this marks my return to where I lived as a young boy. I will tell you though that I barely recognized it as I was driving down the streets,” he said to laughter. “The only thing that was there when I first moved to Jakarta was Sarinah (a shopping mall). Now it’s one of the shorter buildings on the road.”
What Obama’s school teacher had to say: “I have waited so long for this visit,” said Katarina Fermina Sinaga, 61, who taught the chubby, vivacious boy, then known as “Barry,” in the third grade. “I still hope to meet him. I just don’t want him to forget us.”
On having crocodiles as pets: The Indonesian people remember that his mother would walk him to school through streets muddied by monsoon rains, that he was comfortable speaking Indonesian, and that the family kept white crocodiles and a monkey in their yard. How intriguing.
Mr Obama plans to return with his two daughters to show them Indonesia at some point. He was not able to stop and see his family members this visit, some of who are in Indonesia.

PRESIDENT PRATIBHA PATIL HOSTS THE OBAMAS FOR DINNER
It looked as though Michelle and Sonia had coordinated their sartorial choices for the evening: Michelle was in a dark grey gown and without jewellery. Sonia was in a sari, shades lighter than Michelle’s grey.
Four guests signalled their nationalistic dress preferences: A.K. Antony and Deve Gowda showed up in the south Indian “veshti” and shirt/kurta; Mulayam Singh Yadav in his dhoti-kurta and Rahul Gandhi in pyjama-kurta and open sandals.
Mulayam reportedly greeted the Obamas starry-eyed, unable to get over the few Hindi words the US President threw into his speech in Parliament.
The power couples of the evening were Mukesh and Nita Ambani, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and her husband, and the Analjit Singhs of Max Medicare, the last ranking as a major sunrise sector in India’s overseas collaborations.
A few others, including Sunil Bharti Mittal, Shashi Ruia, Rahul Bajaj and Subrata Roy, came alone.
Some of the guests said they were “pleasantly surprised” to sample the “100 per cent” Indian fare — a fusion of Punjabi, Avadhi and Mughlai cuisines — considering the complaints that had tumbled in at earlier dos about the “vapid” steamed and stir-fried veggies and watery “dals”.
The reason: the catering was outsourced to Delhi’s well-known chef, Marut Sikka, a favourite of Sonia’s. The starters included Sikka’s trademark spinach “papri chaat” that he reportedly unearthed from Varanasi’s “gallis”.
It seems the Obamas were comfortable with the fare and even ate samosas with their fingers.”

THE OBAMA’S ARE TRES FASCINATING TO MEDIA IN INDIA

CBS News wants us to know that it’s very hard for them to get their cameras near the Obamas in India because the media scrum is “intense.”

More than 200 news channels in 26 languages are providing wall-to-wall coverage of the president’s three days here. The news operations have a huge audience. Nearly 1.2 billion people live in a country that is about one-third the geographic size of the U.S.
Indian TV news takes note of every word Mr. Obama utters. No syllable goes uncovered.
Virtually every Indian channel carried live coverage of the president’s town hall meeting with students at St. Xavier College in Mumbai.
One questioner was curious about the impact of the U.S. midterm election. “It seems that the American people have asked for a change,” observed one politically astute young man in the audience.
The president agreed and predicted he would, “make some midcourse corrections and adjustments.”"

AMERICA WOO-ING INDIA NEWS – PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA, TRADE AND ACKNOWLEDGING INDIA’S CONTRIBUTION ALREADY IN AMERICA
When China is proving a little bit hard to court, an American President, must turn his nation’s affections to India. The “Obamas-in-India” show, has had everyone’s attention this weekend on his 10-day tour to broker relationships with export-driven Asian economies. Here’s some highlights of that tour:
On Unveiling US$10 billion in export deals: LA Times reports, Mumbhai: “President Obama on Saturday announced a loosening of U.S. restrictions in trade with India and unveiled almost $10 billion in export deals {Boeing aircraft and General Electric turbines) he said could lead to 50,000 American jobs.
Realtering American’s perceptions of India: (LA Times) “There are many Americans whose only experience with trade and globalization has been a shuttered factory or a job that was shipped overseas.”As for India, he added, the perception in the U.S. is it’s “a land of call centers and back offices.” Obama called this an “old stereotype,” noting that it ignores billions of dollars invested by Indian companies in the United States and the partnerships between U.S. firms and Indian entrepreneurs that are developing India’s countryside. “It is a dynamic two-way relationship that is creating jobs, growth and higher living standards in both countries,” he said.”
But as the president debuted a message of globalization as a key to America’s return to prosperity, he did not offer many specifics about how that might happen. Trade of goods between the U.S. and India has more than tripled in the last decade and is expected to hit $50 billion this year. India enjoys a significant surplus, but U.S. shipments to India are growing at a faster rate than in the other direction — a trend that should get a boost from the deals unveiled Saturday.”

It’ so good to see President Barack Obama‘s beaming smile.
On the cover of The New York Times today, topics that consume The Big Apple are: political donors, Bohener on GOP direction and a very touching story of a Presidential wordsmith, Theodore C. Sorensen, 82, Dies .
Sorensen is the man who wrote for one of America’s most love Presidents, JFK, more on this wordsmith man in a bit. He was described as the President’s counsel. What a compliment for a man where still waters of wisdom ran deep.
Mr Obama needs at least ten such men around him. Ladies too. One of the most searched for topics today on the Times Website is: the education of president obama.

Where did I/We/ Whatevz “f*ck up” – is not a good look, especially for a man whose in the hot throne seat, a burning throne he inherited, only two years ago.
This man needs our support not our lynching tendencies. Lynch pin politics are found in New Zealand. A problem solving nation, we always like to help. Soultions are us. Encouragement is Key. Go Obama! Rock it out brotha. Nothing to lose.
