Guest Commentary: Callum Saunders of The Social Senate Blog has something worthwhile to say today about Apple muscling in to the Social Networking chomp markets.
We’ve become a global tribe, who don’t always want to hear what leaders have to say (George W. politics after-math), being social networking entrepreneurs like Apple’s Steve Jobs, gold bicycle to trek it out to for Apple stake holders; as people want to talk about themselves, their lives, and choose their own leaders via social networking. Jobs is a smart cookie.
For politicians to be effective, they have to be entertaining, funny and like good music as this is the fuel that keeps peoples spirits up in recession years.
And remember when Lady Gaga stopped by Apple HQ in California? Here’s what she came up with, for Ping and Apple too on her iTUnes, in the form of this video. Any fan of the world’s #1 pop star, would feel privileged to look at her alleged music influences, tastes and preferences. A good move on the marketing chess board for Apple. But Callam’s useful words, follow around Gaga’s spiel.
Is Apple Ping promising or problematic as Apple steals Pingomattic’s branding? I repeat, corporate stealing. Why isn’t Callum’s whole blog entry about that? But anything that Apple okays soon become the norm for all IT users where music is shaping up to be key to growth.
Hollywood entertainment and celebrity news picks you liked today are these. Happy Friday.
Entertainment Weekly features John Lennon and Paul McCartney of The Beatles this week. The Beatles brand is having quite a surge with the release of: The Beatles: Rock Band, rare photographs of the group and a reissue of all Beatles albums.
Sir Paul McCartney is working hard to secure a nice retirement fund. You can never have enough money, as he shows. The Beatles have always produced great music. Will you buy their albums reissues to own pieces of music history? September 9th is the big launch day of Beatles product.
Of course Apple is salivating at what this will do for music sales in iTunes.

Memo: NB TO SIMON COWELL & DAVID GEFFEN – SUSAN BOYLE SHOULD RECORD A DUET WITH THE POPE
The woman from Scotland who has had over 700 million people view her Britain’s Got Talent audition performance of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables, should so record a duet with The Pope whose music CD, Alma Mater drops on November 30th for the Christmas Market.
These two (supposedly) mature virgins are both releasing a debut music album each, and who have interested audiences of hundreds of millions globally… are THE ticket in debut artists with huge global audience appeal (sorry egocentric pop star kids, but THEY ARE!). (more…)
DAVID GEFFEN + THE POPE = $ MAKING OPPORTUNITY IN POP[E] “MUSIC”
David Geffen, that guy who you see eating at Dan Tanner’s in West Hollywood, and whose exec peeps have to dress like him in matching suit jackets, wants a share of the Catholic Church’s lucrative worldwide audience markets.
1 billion Catholics follow The Pope as the leader of their church. In fact the Catholic Church has as many followers as Indians from India and the Chinese in China. This means that The Pope leads 1/6th of the world’s population. The dude has a huge audience.
Now, David Geffen has signed Pope Benedict XVI to release an album featuring prayers and litanies in five languages. That’s some serious pimping for any pop star to accomplish, let alone a head priest.
The record is called, Alma Mater from Geffen Records. According to the little men in the matching David Geffen suit jackets, the pope has an “incredible voice.” That’s a bonus, as he is no Hugh Jackman in the looks department! Phewsh!
While Mariah Carey, Lil Wayne and Diddy’s new album release dates have been pushed back, Clive Davis is moving Whitney Houston’s I Look To You, comeback album forward by a day. Nice work Whitney Houston! She’s on a comeback roll!
For what she’s gifted the world in music, we love this woman! Here’s 10 Hot Posts Right Now on Horiwood.Com. Enjoy!
hey Horiwooders, I just read a cool article about the future of the iPod.
It’s written by Arik Hasseldahl of NewsWeek Magazine and it gives the heads up to how the iPhone killed the iPod star.
Nice Article. Thanks Arik. (more…)
Apple are so clever at growing their brand. Music is the key to all of their products. You know it. In fact, in China, even under a heavy regime of censorship in Communist rule, the only thing the Chinese people unanimously say they’ve missed out on, about Western life and culture is, access to pop stars and music.
The future of the internet and also any software or digital media devices by any software company at growing markets (including into the 1 billion plus people in China) is music dependent.
Because Apple knows this, they’ve been working hard to grow their music related media packages with iTunes.
Here’s the latest: Apple and the four major record labels, Warner Music, EMI, Sony Music, and Universal Music Group have partnered to create virtual bundles that have online interactive features. All music related marketing to grow their brand. They’ve dubbed it Cocktail.
The gimmick offers sleeve notes, photos, lyric sheets, music videos with selected music downloads. An interactive book, allows a virtual album experience, where your favorite singers’ songs can be played directly from the book.
Nice. What next? The virtual concert experience too? You know it! Miley Cyrus needs to be offered a deal from Apple, to head that up. She’s got the jump on that.
Cocktail launches in September and if Apple are as smart as they say they, the Michael Jackson packaged bundle will be freakin amazin, if they want this concept to take flight in the world with success.
If they’re really smart… Apple iTunes will also create the WhoDunnit: What killed Michael Jackson Virtual Boardgame too… which is the favorite game the media are playing here in the US right now, to sell their advertiser’s space for bucks in a recession. MJ + Music = big money ya’ll.
Troy Jensen gives Kim Kardashian a ‘Twilight Makeover”, in this age where gothic vamp is like Hollywood… scorching hot today. So is your news. Here we go again… here’s 10 hot celebrity news posts right now on Horiwood.Com. Ejoy.

Horiwood’s last tweet was: “question… if the medical profession is based on privacy… why are their alleged pics of Michael Jackson’s legs and body everywhere?”about 2 hours ago from web
An uncanny resemblance of a young Michael Jackson in his prime (part three of his prime time anyway!), was unveiled at Madame Tussauds, London, Thursday. It looks so lifelike. Now MJ’s son blanket, doesn’t have to carry around his MJ doll in his grief, but Aunty Janet Jackson can take him on a wee family field trip to London.
I don’t care what anyone says about wax dummies… this is Art man! nice job, Madame Tussauds! Meanwhile, here in Hollywood, here’s 10 hot entertainment news posts right now.
Now you can get Michael Jackson, The Stripped Mixes from apples iTunes. Pure and undefiled MJ vocals. Priceless! MJ to the power of MJ – graphene jackson vocals.
Because she’s so important, Jennifer Aniston is on the cover of the Czech Republic’s Joy Magazine. After Angelina Jolie silently inherited Aniston’s princess baggage via partner Brad Pitt, Forbes Magazine finally checked Aniston’s mooching streak, by deservedly naming Angelina at just 34 years-of-age, the #1 celebrity in the world for 2009.
I’m glad somebody did. Thank you Forbes. Now Jenn will actually have to find another celebrity meal ticket that will kindly adopt her. Jenn has been subtly playing the sympathy card and riding Angelina’s ‘home wrecking‘ coattails for years now; in between “hanging out at Courtney and David’s house” and going to work sometimes by appearing in the odd film. We’ve given Jenn our empathetic movie ticket dollars for years now! It’s just got to stop! Young emerging actors now need them in a recession.
Playing the spurned ‘other woman’ to Angelina has been Aniston’s MAIN gig for half a decade now. Forbes totally called her on it by moving Angie up to #1. It’s now time for Jennifer Aniston to put down her hair straightening tongs for a Hollywood minute and book a plane ticket to a third world country… not just Mexico for margaritas on the beach… a real one!
Jennifer, all of America and the world gives you their blessing and permission to finally grow up, go to Africa and make a difference too! On that note…

According to this review, it is totally possible that a pop star like Beyonce Knowles can make a music video on Apple’s iPhone 3G S phone.
It would be perfect to make a music video of her song, Video Phone that Beyonce has on her I Am Sasha Fierce album.
Features of the iPhone 3G S are:
[source] Here’s one good reason why Apple continues to be a viable brand. It’s putting its user-friendly i-phones into the hands of celebrity tots, like Brooklyn Beckham.
Prime product placement to show how appealing and easy iphones are to use by all.
I don’t know if a ten year old show have an iphone. What do you think?
But it’s up to a child’s parents to decide that they should have a phone or not and David Beckham and Posh Spice have obviously decided it’s alright by them.
Doesn’t Brooklyn look like a lot like his momma Victoria Beckham as he grows up? I wonder how much Apple paid his folks to give Brooklyn the free phone. Probably an insane amount! My nieces and nephews are all waiting for their iphones now, no doubt. (hey gang!) :)
