Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston share an uncanny similarity in the same taste in…. leather dresses. Funny that. Here’s the top 10 posts on Horiwood.Com today here in Hollywood, LA, California.
horiwood’slatest tweet on twitter is: “dale k has become a redhead in wellington, new zealand. woah! somebody’s gotta bottle that degree of hotness asap. :)less than 5 seconds agofrom web
My girlfriend Dale, from Wellington New Zealand became a ravishing redhead this week.
She’s pictured here with Sir Wira Gardener, whose a bit of a guru on mapping trends on Maori leadership in our recent times.
One of my favorite, Maori leaders was Sir Apirana Ngata, who bonded one tribe to another to help out in recession like times. A Maori tribe would all move to another tribe’s rohe (tribal area) and develop the hosting tribe’s business potential, then when the host tribe’s biz and industry development was completed, that tribe would then reciprocate the favor in the guest tribe’s home territory.
With a concentrated effort in one particular area of biz development (with double the manpower and womanpower) things got done twice as fast. Together Everyone Achieves More. That’s the true success of Maori leadership in effect.
I hope Sir Wira Gardiner writes a book about Sir Apirana Ngata’s greatness as a leader and includes such inspiring stories in it as well as the modern leadership styles of Maori leadership too.
It would be weird though trying to give an honest perspective from your own opinion on…. well… your own peers. Um, good luck with that Sir Wira!!! But yes, this book needs to happen. Young Maori (hori) upstarts like me, need to be inspired by such a book written by Sir Wira Gardiner. We look to you to write it.
I hope Dale K is in that book. Dale is one of THE BEST Maori leaders I know of. She’s strategic, forward thinking, practical and in touch with where the future is heading. I like her leadership brain. It’s a cultural treasure of New Zealand. She’s also a real gem of a friend too. Lucky, lucky me.
The pic below is the view Dale has each morning from her kitchen window while having her morning coffee. Isn’t Dale so lucky! Wellington (Poneke) New Zealand is so pretty.
Love the hair color sweet Dale. You be rockin! Very cool!
To experience the beauty of Wellington where Dale lives, go here. To fly there go here. To enjoy, get there.
Dale’s fab hair color was courtesy of Jean Jacques (of Jean Jacques Hair Design, Lambton Quay, Wellington NZ). Says Dale: “any girl knows that a hairdresser is her best friend and JJ and I have been together for about 15 years – so he knows me well! Funny thing is I always preferred red hair when I was younger and coloured my hair ‘auburn’ throughout my last year of high school.”
What a hot color! Suits Dale’s effervescent spirit and personality to a tee. Love this woman! She’s the future leadership of New Zealand.
So pretty, aint she? The scenic beauty of Aotearoa, New Zealand and the friendliness of her people are incomparable. Travel to New Zealand in your lifetime. It’s paradise on earth. You know it! To check her out, go here. To fly there go here. To enjoy, get there.
New Zealand hip hop band Smashproof have a sound that would rock LA Freeways in peak drive time. Nice to see Maori and Polynesians creating world class hip hop music in the Aotearoa hood.
Sing it up my brothaz! We’re listening to you in Hollywood. :)
I love me some Hinewehi Mohi. She brings the ethereal vocals of a Maori princess to the techno electro beats of an Underground UK night club world.
When this song is on full blast in Hollywood, the Latino’s all turn around and stare. You just know that Shakira would just totally pop her hips to Hinewehi’s unique sound and beautiful music.
Hinewehi Mohi of the group Oceania is just so stunning in every way. She’s like a walking aria whose heart is warmer and brighter than her amazing vocal talent.
I love wahine (Maori women) who can sing. They are the 8th wonder of the world. They are found richly in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
She’s beaten out The Pope and Barack Obama today as a news topic of interest. Q’orianka Kilcher, the actress who is perhaps best suited to play Leah Clearwater in the Twilight Saga’s Eclipse film is smoking hot news in Young Hollywood today on Horiwood.Com. There’s just no stopping her. Amazing!
As voted by you, worldwide, here’s your Top 10 news picks today. Enjoy!
The Waitakere ranges of New Zealand are so beautiful. If you are an avid hiker, a scenic traveller or a lover of the Xena and Hercules TV series, then you’ll love the natural beauty of the Waitakere Ranges.
It is where Xena and Hercules TV shows were filmed. It’s also where my Maori (hori) ancestors, The Ngati Whaatua tribe, have ran around for centuries hunting and gathering amongst the native carpet of vast, green flora and fauna delights set in this stunning forrest.
Nature’s playground is so pretty in The Waitaks. You are surrounded on all sides by billion dollars views. That’s got to be good for ya in your lifetime, right?! To travel and plan a health-conscious hiking vacation there (flying Air New Zealand, of course) go here. :)
Aussie pop songtress Kylie Minogue has rejoined forces with Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul of American Idol. Kylie has previously loved working with the duo on her 2000 hit ‘Spinning Around.’ A source told the ‘Daily Star’: “Kylie will be in the US on a mini-tour at the end of the summer and she hopes to record some new music with American friends around those dates. She already has loads of ideas for album number 11.” I’m going to the Kylie Minogue concert! For sure, now?! Have you got your tickets yet? Meanwhile, beautiful people… :)

I am reminded that Kanye West recently described himself as “a poet set to music” on his blog. Poetry is the exhaled breath of true artists.
On that note, let me introduce, Kupu Rere and its importance. Kupu Rere is one of the hottest poetry competitions in the world. It takes place in the beautiful paradise of Aotearoa/New Zealand in Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland City) where my ancestors hail from. Kupu Rere is like literary hip hop set to the spoken word. Maori (hori) poets in particular, demonstrate how richly talented they are at this poetic platform.
So… Today, I’m … Shouting out to talented poets, to assemble for the Kupu Rere, poetry event this year. Here’s your poetic call from Hollywood today in the poster below. Poetry is the breath spoken with meaning. It’s the ready word or the “fast, flying, word.” Love it! To enter The Kupu Rere: Matariki Poetry Slam – email Mei Hill: kupurere@pl.net.
Now this is what poet, musician, rapper, artist – Kanye West – is talking about! You know it, feel the flow of Kupu Rere this year, 12 July 2009.
New Zealand is a beautiful country. It’s the #1 getaway destination to travel to at least once in your lifetime to replenish the body and senses. Make sure you do. Here’s a pic of Mitre Peak reflected in the tranquil waters of the Milford sound in New Zealand. It’s both healing and therapeutic to be there.
With Patrick Swayze and Farrah Fawcett both battling cancer, as well as Pa Lou Davis Snr recently passing from the disease too, it’s so important to give to others from both nature’s beauty and also out of our pockets to help find a cure for cancer. Kia Ora New Zealand, let’s help stop cancer by aiding a cure for it. Donate here. Thank you & Love You all! :)
As you all know, I live in Hollywood but I am a hori (or indigenous Maori person) from New Zealand. Hence the blog name, Horiwood.Com.
Attached is a Maori proverb on leadership, and also a stunning artwork by Mei Hill called Tamaki & Kuri that visually reflects the beauty of the following proverb. Enjoy the artistic and cultural journey from Mei Hill via Hollywood today. Thanks Mei.
