HOPE: WITH NELSEN MANDELA AND CHARLIZE THERON
With President Barack Obama slumping in the popularity polls this week, I thought I’d look to the nation of South Africa to lift America’s leadership spirit.
South Africa had a horrid past to overcome. Racism and greed was the country’s biggest demon to move on past into a new world and a better future. It was once full of unspeakable hatred. But let’s talk about America today.
President Obama has inherited the worst deficit of any president in US history as a result of the last government’s greed. He also has been a target of racism this week too, so perhaps South Africa’s ability to rise up with redeeming hope provides an answer forward for America.
–images by Oscar winning actress, Charlize Theron’s Vogue Magazine shoot.
–words by Nelsen Mandela.
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear”–Nelsen Mandela
“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more left to climb”–Nelsen Mandela
“A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination”–Nelsen Mandela
“It’s always impossible until it’s done”–Nelsen Mandela
Good luck Mr Obama. We have every confidence in you to balance the books and get it right.

THE VAMPIRE LIST: THE 20 TOP VAMPIRES OF ENTERTAINMENT HISTORY
As we know, vampires are all the rage. Horiwood’s theory is that vampires are so hot right now, because of the recession.
The last eight years of American politics, has vampired the next generation, who are growing up having to bear the consequences of repaying the debt of a mismanaged America. That’s over $1 trillion worth of debt. Meaning, that politicians in office did drink the future dreams and lifeblood of today’s tweens. Yes! It sucks!
But the good news is, that in this cultural climate of pop culture, vampires entertain us with their personal battles to be virtuous and good as they coexist in a world of humans that both frustrate and fascinate them.
Anyway… Entertainment Weekly, has listed their Top 20 Vampires. Here they are: (more…)

This coverage from The White House’s Official news and press core. Barack Obama’s Press Conference of his historic First 100 Days in office. On Horiwood.Com we call coverage like this “Yes We Can TV”… because it simply is…. and is always inspiring! :)

BARACK OBAMA: FIRST 100 DAYS PRESS CONFERENCE WORDS
[image source] In his address of his historic first 100 Days in Office as America’s 44th President of The United States, Barack Obama was full of gratification, gratitude, reflective wisdom and a tone of sincere leadership with the mammoth task at hand concerning realigning America to meet the rigors she faces in the crises of a global recession.
In particular, I liked these things about his address: he got the budget passed whether we agree with the way the money will be spent or not!, he’s offered a tax break to 95% of all American working families who are hanging on for dear life in these challenging times. He’s also thinking of 11 million US children who didn’t have adequate health insurance while trying to address the housing bubble crises here in the US.
He stands by his main four areas of redress in his presidency (education reform, renewable energy reform and its innovative development that will create new employment for Americans, health care infrastructure reform which will save billions; and… better foreign affairs relations in moving forward in peace and not with a war narrative of bullying ignorant destruction which costs America a lot of money for generations later to pay).
It fascinates me, that he feels America is a beacon of hope for weary travelers around the world. Personally, I have never worked harder, from the moment I touched down on American soil in my life. As a foreign press reporter, and a guest in America, the country has offered many moments for character growth for me personally in trying to see, find and engage in an American point of view that is more internationally friendly and relevant in a forum that I can give my view as an equal and global citizen of value. I do hold a Masters degree and I look forward to more intelligent banter with my fellow world citizens here in America, in the future. This excites me and yes, America still excites me too. We love her, whether we are from within her shores or not! She’s a great country, to be cherished, encouraged, strengthened and not depleted, for the good of the world. This is my hope and belief as I write from and live in Hollywood, California each day.
At times, engaging in dialogue with Americans has been a challenge for me to create access points towards a sense of global fairness with Americans from a basis of ‘what’s best and fair’ for the world, more so than any other country or culture that I’ve been exposed too, so I am glad that the new President is addressing foreign affairs, the psychological debilitating and paralyzing disease of that once constructed delusion of American over-entitlement, international relations concerning the American people and ‘the other’ outside of the bloodlines born within American shores or granted its citizenship status.
Barack Obama’s aggressive drive to be seen as more fair with world leaders of other nations is positive for America and the world, and is perhaps pivotal in making America stronger and healthier and more transparent for dialogue with other nations and the world. It’s when we dialogue that new gifts are exchanged between on culture and nation to another. We are all in this together and America’s new leader knows this so well. It’s heartening to see and be a part of here.
I also love the fact that President Barack Obama, seeks wisdom from world leaders before him, whether they are living or have passed on in the cannons of history. An eagle must find the food from other eagles who have navigated the world’s blustery winds before. Obama does this, very humbly by quoting Winston Churchill, the famous UK prime minister with stout leadership skills, on the topic of torture. Here’s what he said:
“I was struck by an article that I was reading the other day talking about the fact that the British during World War II, when London was being bombed to smithereens, had 200 or so detainees. And Churchill said, “We don’t torture,” when the entire British — all of the British people were being subjected to unimaginable risk and threat.” The overall view being, that if you disrespect even your enemies humanity, it will eventually corrode the character of your own nation and people. So wise!
America is in good hands. President Barack Obama’s full transcript of his First 100 Days speech follows. Enjoy! Peace Ya’ll, Sam Cruickshank of Horiwood.Com

MADELEINE ALBRIGHT’S WISDOM ON BARACK OBAMA’S FIRST 100 DAYS
There is no one as wise and diplomatic in US foreign affairs to advise president Barack Obama and Secetary of State, Hilary Clinton better than Madeleine Albright. She’s like the Beatrice Arthur of Washington DC politics. I love what Albright said about the new president’s first 100 days in office. She gives him a big thumbs up and feels that he has used his time wisely so far. Enjoy her wise words of wisdom. What a gem!

DAVID K ROTHKOPF ON BARACK OBAMA’S FIRST 100 DAYS
David K Rothkopf brings his great analytical brain to a close look as to who the winners and losers are with President Barack Obama’s first 100 Days in office.
When dealing with Barack Obama as a phenomenon and a political entity who incites both hope and the cult of celebrity, it’s hard not to look past the fact that Barack Obama himself is the huge winner of his first 100 Days in Office. He’s a global media brand along with Michelle Obama. He’s an industry and a saleable commodity. But what about policy, and the nation of America? Rothkopf calls it, when says we need to look past ‘the man’ and at the big picture of US politics and society. This si Check out what David Rothkopf has to share. Can’t disagree with man as we continue to wish Barack Obama all the support he needs to turn America around in a better direction concerning Lady Liberty’s future in the land of the brave! Let’s Wurq ya’lll!

MORMONS IN THE CITY – MEN ON A MISSION CALENDAR
Like Arlen Specter’s controversial deflection from the GOP to the Democrats for 2010, the Mormon’s are switching it up too, to reflect the changing times.
In a controversial Calendar, reflecting shirtless Mormon lads, young Mormon’s hope to raise awareness that they are more normal than the ‘polygamist’ stereotype that many of their founding forebears have unfortunately left them. (more…)

ARLEN SPECTER IS SWITCHING IT UP TO THE DEMOCRATS FOR PENNSYLVANIA’S FUTURE
Arien Specter is making the switch from the Republican camp to the Democrats Obama winning streak for 2010. Good luck Sir! Nice switch up for Pennsylvania. The longest serving Pennsylvanian Senator in US history, Specter’s bio reads like a mini-Abraham Lincoln ‘learnt it all on the wild plains‘ commercial. It’s great to see a wise leader still wanting to lead past 2010 in the direction that the people he serves wants to go. America so needs that, good leaders who want to keep leading. Barack Obama is delighted to have him on board. Let’s respect our elders and Wurq!

BARACK OBAMA HAS JOB APPROVAL FROM AMERICANS
President Barack Obama’s job approval ratings fare well with 2/3rds of the American people and also the “well to do.” That’s a coup! Not a bad result at all heading up to the first 100 days mark of his presidency. As we all know, the first 100 days of a new President are important, as history shows us, what they achieve and instigate in this time frame sets the agenda of their entire presidential term(s). Pretty much!
Nice job Mr President in gaining a groundswell of support with the populous.

MEAGHAN McCAIN: A CHAMPION OF CHANGE
Okay, I’ve got to admit it. I have always had a love hate relationship with Meaghan McCain. I have disliked Meaghan in the past, as she sometimes is a twack with her political and often very personal views on the Obamas. It just comes across as sour grapes that her daddy lost the election, so she just shouldn’t try that Obama bashing tactic.
This last week though Meagan made me sit up, and actually applaud her for her efforts with the GOP. She made me go…”Girl, you are bringing it on in America like you’re the Lady Gaga of GOP shock pop politics!” Here’s why she did.

Ariana, like Miss Piggy resenting Tim Geithner's place in the economic Muppet Show of America. Geithner being closer to main star Kermie than her! Wait your turn girl. Patience!!! No need for hoy-yah karate chops. Geez! I kid Bring it on!
But Ariana, you still think the world is flat right? As flat as your computer screen, with only your commentary displayed on it? yeah, we know! Mirror Mirror on the wall…. I’m sorry Ms Huffington, but Obama’s team is the fairest of them all, because they need to be right now. Still, you raise some great views about whether a bank centric focus is the way to go, with the Obama Administration’s economic planning.
Banks are just the piggy banks to hold money. An emphasise should be on emerging markets and creating and/or capturing new ones I think. So with this goal in mind, I’ll run “Huff N Puff & Blow Obama’s New Administration House Down” Ariana’s commentary. Read it to give you perspective that we should all not have any faith in banks in these times. It’s a reality check! Hopefully one that won’t bounce and I think her view is very good! (more…)

SOCIAL ENGINEERING is the star of the Obama Administration. Not only America, but also the world, with America as it’s Hollywood pretty model of world change. Discuss…
Furthermore, the subtext of the new presidency and the Obama administration is: when “world change” philosphy became flesh and was over-layed in effective US policy. NEPOTISM RULES MEAGAN McCAIN’S GOP POLITICS
Well it’s ben confirmed. Megan McCain is as nepotistic as they come when it comes to politics.
Megan McCain surprised us all, with how much a politician’s daughter has to say to the press. I mean, she’s got her mouth blabbing more so than a Bush daughter or Chelsea Clinton would even dare utter about the political arena. (more…)

HUFF N BLOW BEYOTCH WATCH: ARIANA SLAMS GEITHNER & SHE FANCIES HERSELF ON RICHARD BRANSON’S BACK
On Horiwood.Com we love us some Huff N Blow Beyotch, Ariana Huffington! She’s our guest commentator today as we take a look at Barack Obama heading up to the 100 Day Mark of his presidency. Ariana slams Tim Geithner as being Obama’s weakest link for putting any faith in banks in America. I have joked before that Huffington should hook up with Geitner, and resolve this little issue of tension that she has for Tim, so she can calm the heck down and focus on just doing a great blog site. See that post here: SHOULD ARIANA HUFFINGTON HAVE A LOVE CHILD WITH TIM GEITHNER?
Huff N Blow Beyotch also fancies herself as a bit of a super model today (but ever tastefully, with clothes on of course!) She’s also about to cast herself in the role of sexy model Denni Parkinson, when she sets out to interview billionaire airline mogul, Sir Richard Branson soon. See this post here: SEXING UP THE VIRGIN BRAND LIKE KANYE WEST – DENNI PARKINSON WITH RICHARD BRANSON That Huffington girl just cracks me up! in her mix of sex and politics that is The Huffington Post’s, winning formula. Here she is on Horiwood.Com today. We love her!!!
ARIANNA HUFFINGTON: OBAMA’S FIRST 100 DAYS: THE GOOD, THE BAD, and THE GEITHER
[source] Any list of the most impressive achievements of Obama’s first 100 days should start with the intangible qualities of transformational leadership — from the president’s personal equanimity (which Robert Reich described as “the serene center of the cyclone — exuding calm when most Americans are petrified”) to his masterful use of the bully pulpit. The biggest black mark on Obama’s first 100 days is his head-scratching reliance on the bank-centric beliefs of Larry Summers and Tim Geithner. In his appointments at almost every agency, Obama has demonstrated a desire to receive a wide range of opinion. But at Treasury, the range of opinion goes all the way from Goldman to Sachs.
Tomorrow, I’ll be interviewing Virgin Group founder and record-breaking adventurer Sir Richard Branson aboard Virgin’s inaugural flight from San Francisco to Orange County.
