Amongst chatting up hot blondes, Harry was on his first official visit to Germany where The Bernauer Strasse Wall Memorial was a place where the Prince laid a wreath on a restored section of Berlin’s former East-West border, including the Wall and the area behind it known as the ‘death strip’ where many died trying to escape back in the day before U2 sung and the wall came tumbling down. ELLEN DEGENERES EXITS AMERICAN IDOL
Ellen DeGeneres has exited the American Idol reality TV Show. Wow, that was the briefest butch prime time minute in reality TV judges history. What’s going on? I suppose that with Oprah leaving Chicago and finishing The Oprah Show, it’s of more value to Ellen to eye up Oprah’s vacant ‘Empathy TV’ daytime talk show branding spot and shine that badge up instead, rather than giving critique on Idol as one voice of five people for Fox.
Makes sense. Says Ellen via ABC: “A couple months ago, I let (TV network) Fox and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” DeGeneres said in a statement.
“It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings,” she added.
I’ve said this in the past, that if Ellen, Simon Cowell and Oprah unite to combine their mugs in TV Shows and Talent Shows on Oprah’s OWN TV cabel channel, here in California, they will truly rule the world of TV ratings.
Anyway, back to A.I, MTV is reporting that American Idol, have asked Jennifer Lopez if they can use her name in the interim, to be their fly girl replacement judge in the interim. The rumor mill is spinning that J-Lo is the new Ellen, who was very briefly the new Paula Abdul.
I can’t keep up with that lot! Swift exits for lady judges on Idol these days. Wishing Ellen all the best, having nights with popcorn in front of the telly at home in her slipppers again instead. She’s a joy.

AMERICAN IDOL JUDGE KARA DIOGUARDI ON SONGWRITING WITH PINK
Kara Dio Guardi, American Idol Judge-ette, spills the beans in Women’s Health Magazine on what is was like to songwrite the song, Sober with pop star Pink over… of course, a bottle of wine. Pink always amuses as she is always living on that edge of irony in her art. Here’s what DioGuardi had to say:
“[Pink] and I opened up a bottle of wine, and it was the greatest game of tennis ever. She would say an amazing line, and I had to say something just as good. We were in sync. We’ve all had things in our lives that we should’ve done without, whether it’s drinking, eating, or working too hard. We had a common ground, and I had one of the best nights of my writing life.”
Yes. Pink puts her paid talent to work. After all, that was what Pink was paying Kara to do back then–song write, not be a friend or a drinking budding either.
So… it’s nice to know these two American leading ladies have a lot more in common since Sober was written, like… both are married, Kara is now a household name too, like Pink is… and of course… more bottles of wine have gone south, ( sunk down the hatch as a Kiwi or a good Aussie would say) too… since they first met. :)
To order the best wines in America, go here. And don’t forget the wines from Napa Valley are… naturally… Ze Best. Those Californian grapes do so well in the delicious warm sunlight here. Today, was another perfect Californian day. You have to see it to believe it, and to live in it, is called lucky in America. I must be the luckiest celebrity, arts, music and entertainment blogger in America ever! Thanks CA.

COULD THE LADS OF AMERICAN IDOL REALLY HAVE DONE WITH THAT EXTRA PRACTICE DAY?
Tonight’s shake up on American Idol, where the boys talent line up, were brought forward a day early to perform tonight, and the girl’s got another day to practice, made critics empathetic to these lads predicament.
However, E Entertainment in particular, deknackered these lads something chronic with their criticism. I’m kidding, their criticism was quite fair. Here’s the first comment:
“Michael Lynche: Ironic song choice—”It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown—but the 26-year-old teddy-bear type did the Godfather of Soul pretty proud. (more…)

LOVE IS BETTER THAN WAR: SIMON COWELL IS ENGAGED TO MEZHGAN HASSAINY
With Ellen DeGeneres and Simon Cowell’s alleged American Idol judges feud, taking up headlines this week, in an effort for Fox Network to chomp some of Simon’s star glow as he exits the hit music show after 9 seasons serving the best music talent to American AI audiences and markets. The ploy by Fox to taint Cowell in the eyes of their viewing audiences, before he can start his own rival talent shows, did not forsee Simon Cowell’s ability to stay one step ahead of the game.
His camp has announced that Mezhgan Hassainy has confirmed that she is engaged to the famous UK talent judge. Cowell, 50, met Afghan-born make-up artist Hassainy on the set of Idol a few years ago. The couple are very much in love and are very close.
Love always sells better than war. Emotions are better spent loving than fighting. Hatred and war are often a result of misguided and frustrated emotions, more often than not. Cowell’s a smart cookie–getting away from Fox Network’s rather torrid casting of him in his final AI season; and perhaps in the process, Simon is even wisely preserving his good friendship with the lovely Ellen DeGeneres in the process long term also.
ELLEN VS SIMON COWELL: AMERICAN IDOL 2010
For where American Idol 2010 has started off key. Go here for improvements and suggestions to the hit show, for Ellen deGeneres and Simon Cowell to realign Idol to a new level of entertainment relevance for audiences and talent.
MUSIC INDUSTRY RESPECT & RELEVANCE: AMERICAN IDOL’S ELLEN VS SIMON & BOY CONTESTANT DISSING RHETORIC 2010
American Idol is back in full swing. Ellen DeGeneres says Simon Cowell is so controlling that she wants to sit down the other end of the judges desk from him, so he can’t touch her knees anymore. It was a joke played out on Tuesday night, and Cowell’s look on his face was like… whatever! Meanwhile Ellen’s daytime ratings through her Idol moonlighting gig, have seen a 12% surge, proving the woman who works two jobs, will get ahead, no matter what… if they suck it up and do the work. Good for her!
As Oprah bows out of daytime talk in 2011, Ellen is set to be the leading contender of daytime talk shows to be America’s next Queen of talk show TV as the ratings currently sit. Even Mo’Niques potential Oscar win, could not compete against Ellen if Mo’Nique sought to become the next Oprah of American daytime talk.

ENGLISH MANNERS: SIMON COWELL ON ELLEN DEGENERES
Simon Cowell can be such an English gentleman. When quizzed about his thoughts on Ellen DeGeneres whose chomping at the bit for Simon’s top job, up for grabs on American Idol, Cowell says:
“I’ll tell you why I think Ellen was a good choice: She actually is very responsible for people she has performing on her own show. I know that for a fact, because I’ve dealt with her as a record label. And she loves music, and she’s been an artist.”
Cowell is right. Ellen is a fearless artist. I mean, who else, except Beyonce would dare to duet with a power voice like, Jennifer Hudson… but Ellen did.
She rocks.
AFTERNOON MARTINIS…
10 Celebrity News links at Sunset: The Hollywood life is all about afternoon martinis and talking about celebrity antics, pop stars, naughty stars and block buster movies and beautiful pop music.
The martinis at sunset are made strictly with Grey Goose vodka as a tribute to the giggles that Chelsea Handler brings on.
The Kiwi in me wishes they had 42 Below Feijoa vodka here in El lay, at the local. But of course, no one really knows what a feijoa really is here on the strip. That would be way too real, organic and healthy. Anyway, here’s ten celebrity hot topics of interest tonight on Horiwood.Com. See below:
PAULA ABDUL WISHES ELLEN THE BEST ON AMERICAN IDOL
No matter how Paula Abdul must feel about Fox Network, not upping her salary to stay on for another season of American Idol as a judge, she is still very sweet in her response to her replacement Ellen DeGeneres. Here’s what Abdul says:
“American Idol is a fantastic show that offers an invaluable platform to young talent. Ellen DeGeneres is wildly funny and talented in her own right. I wish her and the show only the best of luck.“
Good on Paula Abdul for being so gracious. She did a great job at growing American Idol to where it is today. All the best Paula.
ELLEN DEGENERES, AMERICAN IDOLS NEW 4TH JUDGE
1. Poor Paula Abdul.
2. Congratulations Ellen De Geneneres
Ellen becomes the official 4th judge of American Idol’s new season. What a spot!
Simon Cowell + Simon Fuller (entertainment entrepreneurs in music and dance and TV talent shows) + Ellen DeGeneres (America’s funny woman of TV talk) = they could give Oprah Winfrey’s OWN cable network, a really good run for its money!
Smart partnerships are breaking on through. Ellen’s casting in American Idol is a part of a bigger plan.

SHOUT TO THE LORD AS A HOLLYWOOD CHRISTMAS CAROL
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of your name. I sing for joy at the work of your hands. Forever I’ll love you forever I’ll stand. Nothing compares to the promise I have in you.–song lyrics of Darlene Zschech.
It’s Christmas Time in Hollywood California. I don’t know why I’m so excited about Christmas this year, however it is exciting! In the festive spirit of Christmas, here’s Shout to the Lord a song that has sold around the world more than most pop star’s can claim selling a number 1 hit as sung by the cast of American Idol one year.
The song is written by Australian singer/ songwriter Darlene Zschech who started life as a child model doing Coppertone tanning lotion advertisements.
May you always know your great promise this Christmas. Merry Christmas from West Hollywood. :)
