GOOD FATS KIWI CUISINE ART: MAKING AVOCADO TASTE LIKE TUNA – HEART HEALTH MANAGEMENT
I ate avocados so much in California with corn chips and the most delicious salsa recipes ever, I swear I was an honorary martian of avoca-enhanced-health at one point.
Avocado’s nutritional benefits are green sunshine in a deep purple shell. Back here in the paradise Isles of New Zealand, Kiwi chefs latest offering is: The Art of Making Avocado Taste Like Tuna.–ScoopIt. Eugene Hamilton of Euro’s latest creationz kinda rock!
WeB4evaCleva!
HealthTip: Apparently, the Guinness Book of World Records states an avocado is the most nutritionally complete fruit in the world. Avocado is all about good fats to help keep the heart healthy. Avocados are chocca with essential vitamins and minerals like iron, folate and vitamin C.

AS PROMISED – KAPA HAKA, MAORI CULTURAL THEATER – OF THE DAY
Freedom of expression in community is when the spirit rises within, manifested in unision of teamwork. It is what New Zealand is good at, both on the sports field, in business and especially in the disciplined art of Kapa Haka (Maori cultural performance art theater).
In Hawaii, they love it. Here, we do too. :)
It’s about our words filling the atmos in a spiritual way embedded in the Maori language, that protects and stengthens New Zealand.
Enjoy!

SWITZERLAND WILL BE HOME TO KIWI NON NUCLEAR-PROLIFERATION ACTIVIST ALYN WARE
New Zealand has always had a strong ability to direct our angst and anxiety at causes that are important in the world. Here’s a story about that.
It’s 25 years where New Zealand took a stand to be legally nuclear-free today. The moment was enshrined at Oxford, with Prime Minister David Lange at Oxford University. His speech is one of the best from a Kiwi politician in our history.
It’s always good to have a refresher course on cornerstone cultural issues that make New Zealanders special.
Alyn Ware of Tauranga, is on a mission to uphold this tradition. Alyn is a co-rodinator whose organized a global network of Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament back in 2003.
Alyn’s office in Wellington where he’s been based for 10 years has closed due to cuts of NZ Peace Foundation funding. So instead, Alyn will be based at the University of Basel in Switzerland, with support from Basel council.

Simon Collins reports: “The countries that are picking up the disarmament ball are no longer down here. New Zealand is no longer a big player in this. I need to be working with the governments that are going to make a difference, countries like Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Germany, Kazakhstan and, actually, Mexico.”
New Zealand’s Nuclear-Free Zone, Disarmament and Arms Control Act was once ”groundbreaking”. “It wasn’t just about saying we won’t have nuclear weapons in our ports. It was criminalising them, it was making it illegal for New Zealanders to be involved in production or in aiding and abetting their production,” Mr Ware said.
Alyn explains how The Philippines, Mongolia and Austria took New Zealand’s model and made it theirs too. Legislation based on our model is in the Bangladesh Parliament now, and the text of the New Zealand law will be included in a handbook for the International Parliamentary Union in October.
Collins also notes how the United States President Barack Obama has picked up the cause, (more…)
TAURANGA, GERMANY, FRANCE – NEW THINGS SPRINGING UP AS STREAMS IN THE WASTELAND
So, I zoom down the line to the beautiful province of Tauranga as the gorgeous Michele, a lawyer of South Africa is marrying soccer dad law practice owner Ross beside a nice cool river at Oropi just outside of Greerton, where they sought a Maori kaumatua (elder) of the region’s blessing to marry along side the river. For both, their marriage union is one of “second time lucky” love flow.
When I get back from Tauranga, a German friend Fabian tells me quite concerned, that the German President has resigned. “Corruption” is what he says is going on.
Gosh, that’s what my French friend, Philippe, says about his President too.
What’s going on with the world when young people visiting New Zealand, think this about their illustrious leaders, current and those resigning?
I keep telling wedding stories to move their thinking upwards into the “forget Presidents, what about you” terrain that the youth of the world are allowed to plan and experience for themselves in this generation.
I think of Michele and Ross’ amazing Kiwi story and how they found love unexpectedly in the nation of love.
The wedding invite shared the words: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
What a cool wedding premise of love and promise to marry under for the cute couple who met in Whangarei, Northland… Cheer up France and Germany – and nice one Michele and Ross for reaching the golden shore of committed love! :)

NGAI TE RANGI AND NGATI AWA SHINE ON COASTAL MANAGEMENT
The Kiwis we’re most inspired by this week, are rugby great Zinzan Brooke and his whanau on a return visit home to New Zealand. We’re also a bit taken by Elizabeth Marvelly, the singer from Rotorua. And, the people managing the coastlines – like Ngati Awa and Ngai Te Rangi Iwi are freaking awesome.
They put all us people dealing in and condoing inside trading to shame. (That’s inside trading on a blog that is).
All the rest of us, well… we’re trying to match these shining star Kiwis this week (in the bold). Gosh! Can’t keep up with these lot. They’re as cool as clean energy.

In this Getty Images – photo pick of the day: “TAURANGA, NEW ZEALAND – OCTOBER 13: local resident comes to look at a washed up container from the Rena with part cooked hamburgers littering the beach on October 13, 2011 in Tauranga, New Zealand. Up to 350 tonnes of oil has spilled from the ‘Rena’ a Liberan cargo ship stricken off the coast of Tauranga since October 5. The ship’s Filippino captain has been charged and is facing an NZ$10,000 fine or 12 months jail. New Zealand Officials are calling this the worst maritime environmental disaster in the country’s history and claim it is likely to worsen before it improves. (Photo by Mike Hewitt).”

COUSIN RAEWYN VISITS TOWN FROM TAURANGA
Cousin Raewyn – one of the most loving cousins ever, visited Auckland from Tauranga recently. We had a surprise 65th Birthday for Raewyn (pictured right with her best friend, Diane) at her brother Willbur’s place.
Raewyn tells me, that she’s retiring from the business of importing phosphate from Morocco, so that farmers in New Zealand can have good fertilizer. Raewyn leaves her job of 22 years this week. Wowsa! I didn’t even know cousin Raewyn was such a merchant co-ordinater of the high seas for New Zealand, but yes, she was.Phosphate has quite the global footprint for Kiwis to manage for the rest of the world – quality milk and beef production is expensive.
I had asked Raewyn, so “would you ever rip up the ocean’s floor to fertilize a paddock?” Or something to that effect. She gave me the ‘doh! Heck no, look.’
I wonder if Bradley James will get to catch up with his Aunty Raewyn this weekend, while he’s stationed in Tauranga currently – helping salvage coastal assets pristine coastline appeal?
In any event, I’m sure Raewyn will keep an eye out for Brad. She always used to totally spoil us rotten as children.

FROM CHRISTCHURCH TO OIL SPILLAGE CLEAN UP – BRADLEY JAMES IS HEADING TO TAURANGA
Bradley James, soldier in the New Zealand army, is now relieved of duties in Christchurch’s clean up and rebuild efforts and is now heading to Tauranga, Mt Maunganui to help clean up an oil spillage spectacle in between Tauranga’s coastline and Motiti Island the famed habitat of the rare tuatara.
Brad’s plane tickets North, to the top of New Zealand, will have to wait as will his best friends and whanau (family). He won’t get to see in the Rugby World Cup final either, on his ancestral whenua, in his second city, Auckland. In fact, Brad could be in Tauranga for weeks. :)
Whether it be on land or ocean or in the air, isn’t the life of a soldier so varied and interesting?

MAUI’S LEGEND REMIXED – OIL SPILL KITS VIA CINC AND 10 USEFUL GADGETS AND PRODUCTS 2011
Maoritime Maritime Tech News: I was loading my home made, centrifuge machine that I’d whipped together from an old cattle trough, a milking pump motor and some rubber pipe, into my tribe’s Maori war canoe, so I could head to Tauranga, and lend this town a hand. I figured that all hands on deck, would be a good help. Better than nothing.
[Nah! But I should be]
