Most of us in Hollywood and America are thankful for work and a job of any kind. This is not the case for some actors though.
Why any actor would not want to work with Kenneth Branagh, bring to life for the screen a Marvel Comic book character (with potential film franchising and merchandizing options) or star alongside actress, Natalie Portman either… for that matter to boost their Hollywood profile is craziness.
Sir Peter Jackson also had the same ‘creative differences issues’ with Townsend on the Lord of The Rings triology–one of the most successful Hollywood film franchises at the box office of all time. Townsend’s brat exit from The Rings Trilogy project was a lucky casting break for Viggo Mortensen who made the role of Aragon his own.
Good luck to Townsend’s career from here. He will need it. I am sure he will do okay when the viking dust settles. Thor already sounds extremely dramatic. Clash of the Vikings is already occurring by the sounds of things.
