Chris Pine is an actor. He is from a show biz family. In Silverlake is where Chris has coffee. Silverlake is where Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston also had property, when together. Brad still has a property portfolio in Silverlake. A groovy village. It’s an artsy community consisting of latino businesses and LA artists, lots of actors and also young families. It’s very cool. Similar in New Zealand to Ponsonby? Perhaps. Pine’s latest news as a part of the Star Trek reboot franchise, with NZ’s Karl U can be read @trek news & trek web & here. She is the face that launched millions of Kiwi dreams.
And she’s still doing it today. We love her. If she was a Maori woman on crowd control, or if she was older, I swear she’d have been made a Dame by now. The girl really is the real deal Kiwi global star.
Rachel Hunter‘s latest press as a talent show judge, show’s how generous of spirit Hunter is as a performer and artist. Hunter is going to laugh, cry on the spot to cam and be wowed too, in a bid to inspire the new waves of Kiwi talent being affirmed, noticed, coached and appreciated.
What a woman! Rachel Hunter’s new reality TV show New Zealand’s Got Talent kicks off this evening on NZ TV.
Only One Rachel Hunter. We still love her grace, humilty, Kiwi charm, natural beauty, her inner beauty far greater than her external visage… and of course, her winning smile from a heart of hard earned, wise empathy! :)
Every time I see Rachel’s smile, I go straight to the store still and go get me ice cream asap. Why is that exactly? Lol! ;)

Oh navigator, Am-Kiwi Maori father,
New York, Hawaii, Ngati Mutunga, Yale scholar,
Swedish Order of the North Starman, our peak of Maunga Loa.
Your mind a swirling ocean of te aute, Colenso thoughts.
Rare exotic-novel man abroad. Medicine man of culture back home.
Those forbearing formidable, Polynesian Vikings of The Sunrise
always whispering wisdom of life's tupuna flows in the veins.

In case you missed it, the following were the hot news topics of one of the two important Maori News shows from New Zealand. In Te Reo Rangatira (the poetic and rich Language of Chiefs, 1000 years created and spoken in our land), hot topics follow:
More real yet otherworldy than a Star Trek Hollywood movie is The Volcanic activity on Whakaari: The volcanic activity can be seen and heard from the island volcano of Whakaari (White Island) prompting the warning status to be upgraded. Hinerangi Goodman spoke with the community of Whakatane today.
We mourn the disappearance of two rock climbers and an instructor of gas coast, New Plymouth: Way to young to go missing: Names released of missing trio in rock climbing accident – Police have released the names of the two students and a rock-climbing instructor who have been missing since they fell into the sea off New Plymouth’s Back Beach last night.
Fallen NZ soldiers arrive in Christchurch tonight - The bodies of Lance Corporal Pralli Durrer and Lance Corporal Rory Malone will arrive in Christchurch tonight. The soldiers were killed in Afghanistan last week. (My heart hurts for the families of the slain. War is brutal. For what purpose are NZ’s sons being taken, is more my heart on this issue. And for our military - Kia Kaha nga toa aroha me manawatu a Ngati Tumatauenga Tatou).
Thank Chrissendom Wairere Skies for the High Court some days. It really does curb the greed of a few, who think they’re above the law, when they are not. High Court rule in favour of Whakatu Inc: While the water rights issues are continuing with the tribunal, a South Island corporation has seen their decision to pursue in a breach of trust case against the Crown in the high court, ruled in their favour.
Hekia Parata, a gifted, capable and talented person has copped a rough shift on her watch as Education Minister lately. No confidence in national standards league table: The Associate Minister of Education says he doesn’t support the National Standards league tables released by the Education Minister. At this stage, 10% of NZ schools are yet to register their results so they can be updated online for public view. (more…)
Because science, innovation, education are New Zealand peoples spirit - of our strong outrigger canoe culture of navigatable adventurous and creative discoveries into new horizons of destiny and change too:
In investing R&D capital into our future innovative inventors of sustainability and peace news:
In my mind I see, children all throughout the South Pacific, even up to the Marshall Islands into even the island of Guam, maybe Vietnam too. They each have a laptop and tablet each. On the internet they are taught curriculum subjects from New Zealand.
Their learning is accelerated and a generation of Polynesian (and Asian?) children arise, supported by their New Zealand friends nearby and afar, to allow the potential of Polynesia’s youth to be all they will be, for the gifts in their lives the world will need to be stronger, smarter, more creative – in the years to come. If we all do this for them that’s so going to happen.
This is the burden that sits very strongly on me today. I really want to see our groovy and unique white, Pakeha New Zealanders do it, just to teach the world what cool New Zealand citizens look like as architects of the world – and to push back the powers of greed, on our Island dwelling Polynesian friends.
Although we admire the braun of Polynesian peoples natural dna (Jonah Lomu storms to mind) - it is their Peaceful spirit (most days), their respect for their elderly, their creativity so rich yet largely untapped, their spiritual gifts, the notable and noble warmth of heart, a trusting innocence in the good of the wider world and their unique thoughts that dwell within their minds; that we will need to see more of in the world, twenty years out from this point. We need to invest more in it.
True fact: Creative Maori-Kiwi kid, young Jakey Davis attends Catholic school.
He is so smart, when I’m in Jakey’s presence, my brain hurts tracking the zings that go through his thought processes at lightning Te Uira speed.
Can’t help admire his clever. Academically Jakey is definitely in the fast track. The self-described “one of the two best” in his Saturday mornings rugby team, Jake loves going to school every day. If he could go to school on the weekends too, Jakey so would. Such a Maori nerd!
New Zealand’s got smart talent rising up in Kiwi neighborhoods.

Sir John Kirwan was on TV this morning with Jeanette Thomas. When I think of Sir John, I think of my mom sitting with Michael Jones‘ mom, Aunty Maina, at the rugby football park in Northland, in the test match where MJ & JK were both whipper snappers, going for a rugby dream.
You’ve never heard Maori and Samoan mums scream and shout louder in the stands. Nerve-wracking days, both MJ & JK would be successful in being selected for the All Blacks team. It was to be no ordinary team. When Michael got in the All Blacks it was a huge shift in New Zealand consciousness.
The Iceman went on to lift achievement for young people all over New Zealand and the world. Along with Zinzan Brooke, Sir John didn’t do too badly either. A shift abroad proved his worth as a coach and sports brand of entertainment.
Jeanette Thomas has the interview of the Italy, Japan (and now Auckland City) rugby coach talking family, teenagers and having his sights set on a ten-year-career as a coach in New Zealand.
Messages: (Humble) - ”Ten years coaching, then I plan to exit.” “Don’t want to die with music in me.” “Taking a Sir title is not about the title, it is about the reasons.” “Incredibly honored, incredibly humbled, I feel now I have to live up to it.” “If I can help one person through fear, I was a Sir,” he says (paraphrased).
Thomas describes Sir John Kirwan as being a living legend. Watch interview.
The legendary 1987 All Blacks Team included:John Gallagher (Wellington), Craig Green (Canterbury), Joe Stanley (Auckland), John Kirwan (Auckland); Warwick Taylor (Canterbury), Grant Fox (Auckland), David Kirk (Auckland); Wayne Shelford (North Harbour); Michael Jones (Auckland), Gary Whetton (Auckland), Murray Pierce (Wellington), Alan Whetton (Auckland); Steve McDowell (Auckland), Sean Fitzpatrick (Auckland) and John Drake (Auckland), Andy Dalton (Counties), Richard Loe (Waikato), Zinzan Brooke (Auckland), Bernie McCahill (Auckland), Frano Botica (North Harbour) and Bruce Deans (Canterbury).
Rugby was so much fun during these years. Crazy times of sport. It wasn’t so rigid and there was more passion in the game, just for the love of the sport on display. These lads inspired a nation during crucial years where our culture evolved. They were my childhood heroes. The dream team of dreambuilders. With only two channels on TV to choose from, radio commentators in action, no cell phones of any kind and no internet in those days to distract an audience, their celebrity was huge and unparalleled in New Zealand in their spokespersonship roles. They were the voice that shaped a culture. Their words mattered. As a result, they were everyone’s heroes.
What they said and did would shape a nation with depth and meaning. Like all Kiwis of my age-group, in part I too am the product of their character, humour, zest for life and the many gifts of culture that they created on the go, and gave us all as their people.
I could write a book about each one to explain all the pictures of culture they created and shared with their avid audience. They weren’t paid for what they gave, yet they willingly showed generosity of spirit and gave it anyway. Why they are still our bright heroes today. Their ‘books’ they all authored without credit, are a nation of Kiwis. They are some of the finest entertainers New Zealand has ever witnessed, the calibre of whom has rarely been seen since. It’s difficult to know what to say to this generation of stars that the local neighborhoods of New Zealand produced, except Thank you for making us Kiwi too – and a cohesive distinctive society of fun loving people with heart and soul.

Being faithful to your audience can suck. Normally I’m not, so it’s all good. I am a Kiwi, I just have fun. It’s what we do, without knowing we’re good at having fun.
However when I do really focus on you the audience – it’s a joy to share world views of us all. That’s what a blog should be about too.

Bromhead does his Kramer Vs Kramer cartoon art commentary today down in New Zealand with his cartoon titled: A More Interesting Split.
The diversions of US In Kiwiland over a cuppa of Chanui Pure Ceylon tea.
So clever!
[... Far more fun than Kiwi families contemplating whether to get out of the house and go get their own damn sovereign breadmakers at the local Ware-Whare store!]. A homemade Weta Wheat Bread recipe is due about now from those myriads of reality TV Master Chefs - to show Kiwis how to make their own German bread to go with their cuppa too. :)
What this means: After Maori get water rights sorted with blindie, shall we start growing wheat in the South for the USA and other countries that get parched in summer? That’s so Bill Clinton down in Queeenstown, after Monica-gate back in the naughty presidents golfing club yarn-around-the-greens days.
Wheat n’ Wheels. [I think NZ and Iwi-Kiwis can more than do a big ag project for "Africa"peeps on our own!].
As this is not a Turners & Growers German distributed idea (at this stage), it could quite possibly be a Ngai Tahu and other Iwis distributed model - if the dry goods produce are to be “China” bound, here’s that look for baby pandas and Aussie friends afar off – growing up on Canterbury plains good grains and our shared Iwi-Kiwi wai ora in the future.

Photo caption: The Dragon capsule, carrying half a ton of supplies on board the SpaceX Falcon 9, is connected to the space station after being grappled into place by the station’s robotic arm. A NASA released image, distribution - Associated Press – May 24, 2012.”
Canadian company SpaceX marks a milestone with the first ever commercial company’s mail delivery service into space. It is the first time a privately built and operated vehicle has ever docked at the orbiting outpost.
Many Americans have not been entirely happy about budget spend over the last four years, particularly when war spend (weapons etc) has been so high, and NASA’s space exploration program was cut back. When you grew up watching cartoons like The Jetsons (or movies likeStar Trektoo) “space travel” is very much a part of the American psyche.
“SpaceX’s mission: “The mission is considered the first test of NASA’s plan to outsource space missions to privately funded companies now that the U.S. fleet of space shuttles has been retired. SpaceX aims to prove to NASA that its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule are ready to take on the task of hauling cargo — and eventually astronauts — for the space agency.”
As art (not science alone) the whole exercise is more like a commentary on strangleholds on earth of politics and economic advancement as a metaphor. Space is (at this stage) not controlled by ‘nations’ as such, or alliances of nations. So this is a very interesting story by NASA and supporters injecting the money, to tell this story.
Its also a good metaphor for how economic engineering is occurring to and who is allowed to advance and who isn’t due to the GFC.
“Until now, sending a spacecraft to the space station was a feat reserved for the world’s wealthiest and most technologically advanced governments: the United States, Russia, Japan and the European Union.”
So as to ensure that policians don’t hinder its scientists work:
“NASA wants to turn the job of carrying cargo and crews over to private industry. Meanwhile, the agency will focus on deep-space missions to land astronauts on asteroids and Mars.”
Marine Surveillance of ocean resources (for example) depends on smaller nations (that have large oceanic territories) having the right information. This service helps that happen.
Q. What is something New Zealand offers you that living Hollywood doesn’t?
A. Hanging out with Maori cousins like Waratah Taogaga – who is half Aboriginal from the oldest culture Australia knows, as well as being Maori (Ngati Whatua and Ngapuhi Tribes). Waratah is also blessed with Samoan lineage. She loves kapa haka (Maori cultural performance). Waratah lives in Helensville, the New Zealand PM’s designated electorate – quite happily.
Like her Maori-Polynesian momma, Eileen, Waratah’s sweet humble spirit and her respect for her elders knowledge, always makes me smile.
She’s a little bubbly star, just trekking a bright future for our tribes and all New Zelanders.
Waratah is A Maobo (Maori Abbo) original of Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. Though, she’s just Warratah really. A person her Kiwi family loves. Living her young life and loving it in NZ. :)
- – -
Watching young people like Waratah grow in her Maoritanga (Maori culture) is just one groovy thing I can think of asap about being back in NZ, that I wouldn’t get to see in Hollywood – yet.

You are a star, when you give to others in need out of a moral and cultural responsibility to be a better person and grow with others making their lot better too.–Dame Rosemary Horton’s life story.
Dame Rosemary Horton is someone that Auckland City is very proud of. She’s the socialite whose always “tickety-boo” (Kiwi slang for “she knows how to throw her stuff together, and always look good each day”). More importantly though, Dame Rosemary, thinks of others in need and exhorts wealthy people to give from their hearts and the depths of their pockets. She’s a humanitarian angel of sorts, of New Zealand.
Sort of like, who Angelina Jolie could be like, when Jolie matures. Here’s Dame Rosie’s words:
Not being able to bake cakes set Rosie Horton on a path of helping others.
Mrs Horton, of Auckland, has been made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in today’s Queen’s Birthday Honours and becomes Dame Rosie.
She has been honoured for her services to philanthropy.
Dame Rosie is chairwoman of the Friends of Starshipand has been the vice-chairwoman of the Starship Foundation for 20 years.
She has also chaired and worked with dozens of children’s charities, causes and groups helping the sick, disabled, animals, women’s refuge, the performing arts and the environment.

Dame Rosie told the Herald she was humbled by the appointment and talked about the early days when she first got involved in what would be a lifetime of giving back. (more…)
O Kilauea from the ocean floor you rose
to be a Polynesian-kissed summit in paradise King isles.
...
Today fiery ribbons stream like red hair strands
from the eye of your looming blue mountain peaks.
...
Eagle choppers fly with matchstick wings
high above Manu Loa skies with camera eyes
as a cheeky Aussie from Wales visits in Amerika.
...
From the eye of this poet from Tarawera's Shakey Isles,
you bear witness of the need to give The Water of Life
to those who thirst on our earth's watch
while we swim as mates so hip, among the sharks
at the feet of Pu'u O'o's spark bright rain
from within a ring of fire.

Hollywood entertainment news as voted by you the people from Hollywood today, is reflected as follows:
Kileaua Scientifc facts: “A fissure opening in this area is not unusual—a similar event occurred in 1997, according to John Eichelberger, coordinator for the USGS Volcanic Hazards Program.
In fact, Kilauea is the world’s most active volcano, and it has erupted 34 times since 1952, according to the observatory. Kilauea has been erupting consistently since January 1983, during which time the volcano has spewed at least 0.5 cubic mile (2 cubic kilometers) of lava, Eichelberger said.”

“Katzenberg, Spielberg and Geffen have a history of publicly supporting Democratic candidates and have hosted fundraisers for Bill Clinton and President Obama.”
Not a bad line up at all of leading Hollywood producer lights, faces and names all in support of Jerry Brown, 72. And of course, Kiwi-Fruit Brown/Green thinking types do too. :) Maori Hobbits fans in this line up, included in West Hollywood. I may not be able to throw money his way, but I can give Jerry Brown support on this blog, with creativity and time.
Like good sheep, yes we brown Maori-Kiwi Polynesians do too. :)
Hollywood, Calif– to [Hobbitsville, Middle Earth], Wellywood a Poneke today. A message on Wellywood casting.
One headline to grow the film industry globally: KEY 3D CINEMA PARADIGM SHIFT – MAORI AND POLYNESIAN TEENAGED ACTION STARS IN 3D, 2010′s
Why not?!
Image of Taylor Lautnerof Hudsonville (Ottawa and Potawatomi Native American Indian tribes, descendant) 18, earns more than US$8 million a film in Hollywood. That’s not including his merchandising of his mixed American-indigenous image.
A Native [American Indian] teen in Hollywood. He has yet to appear in 3D cinema texts.
I present Taylor today as food for thought for Maori and Polynesian action stars, who are Hollywood worthy as entertainers also. Remembering that Maori have practiced Mau Rakau martial arts for centuries in Middle Earth, Aotearoa/ New Zealand. We have this history for 3D cinema’s authenticity as Art and Entertainment texts of Hollywood and Wellywood worthy cultural significance.
This thought being presented in Hollywood today for the land of Hobbits and their Oscar-holding creators and auteurs of Middle Earth to mull over. Namely Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor with casting lenses of wisdom and foresight worn in New Zealand, to grow existing and new talent and film markets from New Zealand shores showcasing all of New Zealand’s diverse potential in film growth to our economy. Courage to develop new Kiwi action stars, who have the potential to develop new action film genres that appeal to Asian markets.

Why can’t Polynesian and Maori Kiwi kids, be a vital part of Young Hollywood pop cultural texts, icons, symbols generation, and leadership too?
He’s the footballer that knows how to mix up his American history with a wicked sense of humor. TPM has the story:
Jon Runyan, a former pro football Eagles player and now the Republican nominee of the New Jersey 3 District, standing against freshman Rep. John Adler (D-NJ), has added his voice to the recent constitutional jurisprudence of GOP candidates — listing the 1857 Dred Scott v. Sanford Supreme Court decision as a recent case that he disagreed with.
As the Asbury Park Press reports, from a debate last night: “Jon, it’s a different branch of government, but can you give me an example from the last 10 or 15 years of a Supreme Court decision in which you strongly disagree?” Adler asked.
“That I strongly disagree with?” Runyan asked, pausing for a moment to consider the question. “Dred Scott.”
There was some laughter in the audience.”
Hilarious! 1857. Jon Runyan is too funny. As a once-footballer, Runyan, a man who possesses a great sense of sporting football humor, with pace and position, denotes that the real “p” word needed is patience while referencing the jurisprudence system. 1857 references. His sense of humor, is very similar to that of a Maori’s. He is too funny and worthy of a mention today. Loves.
[Speaking of "Dreds." Here's an image of New Zealand actor, Karl Urban, who stars as Doc McCoy in Star Trek films of today, who also doubles as Judge Dredd (Sylverstar Stallone's old role) in the future of Hollywood Superheroes creation and film franchising.
