DAREN KAMALI’S COCONUT ISLANDS PROSE
Coconut tree, its flesh scraped and squeezed into a dish of vakalolo fish. Coconut tree in the middle of the sea, swaying to the rhythm of the island sea breeze. all wrapped in rourou leaves placed in lovo pits to make palusami. Into the vast ocean a coconut swam floating from island to island replanting itself on every isle. In Niue's shell, serves kava for us. Leaves of sasa brooms, woven mats on clay floors, its juice quench's thirst, breaking waves under the tropical sun.
–poetic prose words: dk.

MID-FIRES JULIA GILLARD TACKLES CHILD ABUSE NEXT – A ROYAL COMMISSION MATTER
NSW are on high alert during vacation season 2013. In the interim, Australia’s PM goes into overdrive kickstarting her year off with child abuse in her sights. ”Hideous. Shocking. Vile,” are her opening lines of Gillard’s latest rant.
”I believe our nation needs to have this royal commission.”
Love it. Girlfriend… bring it on. The worst kind of child abuse occurring at the moment is economic child abuse. Where inequality rises, it is a statistical fact abuse towards children rises with it. In times of greed and inequality, children and their families are often left exposed and vulnerable by The State. The abuse of children abused in such conditions, was pre-set for children economically by leaders… so I think a politician in the South Pacific and Asia-Pacific whose people are earning well, (entire)… is more than qualified to go for the jugular on the child abuse issue with integrity. ISLAND PEOPLES 2100 REALITIES AS CLIMATE CHANGE ADDS TO MELTING ARCTIC GLACIERS
If you melt ice in the world large land masses will be covered. Islands will be covered. The fish and ocean resources in the oceans of Island terrains can still be accessed via ocean ships and vessels. Islands oil supplies can still be accessed by oil rigs, although Island nations lands may be covered or partially covered. Tsunamis will also increase.
A HAVEN OF PROSPERITY – NEW ZEALAND’S ECONOMIC OUTLOOK TO SHINE BEYOND 2013
An economist in an insurance company writes his views on why NZ’s economic outlook is going to be da bom in 2013:
NZ has an abundance of wai (water). Being so far away from the world, also is an advantage. We have the internet now too, if we want to open the shop window via E-Commerce on NZ’s NZX, or via the Aussie banks, or via the OIO selling resource too.
what tower investments believes: Ongoing low interest rates globally, and the desire of Governments to print money and spend their way to growth, creates a favourable environment for sharemarkets globally. For bond markets it’s a harder call.
We think we are at the beginning of a long period of prosperity for New Zealand, unparalleled since the 1950s and 60s. NZ’s terms of trade is at a record high, the dollar set high, meaning more people have more confidence in NZ’s economy who are wealthy with money waiting to invest in the world.
similar to Australia with the minerals mining boom rising economic tide economists have designs for NZ’s resources to achieve the same of NZ.

A MAORI KIRIHIMETE 2012
All across Aotearoa New Zealand, Iwi (Maori tribes) are celebrating year’s end 2012. For many, it was a hard year yet after several centuries, Iwi doesn’t change. Iwi goes on. As a living story of community, Iwi is one of New Zealand’s oldest stories. People and their designs come and go in New Zealand. Yet one thing New Zealand knows is true, like oxygen in and out… Iwi still goes on.

MAORI SAILING – WAKA TAPU, A REMARKABLE STORY OF AN ADVENTUROUS OCEAN JOURNEY 2012
The website says: Over a thousand years in the making. 10,000 nautical miles across the world’s most expanisve ocean. Guided by the habits of the stars, currents, sun and moon. Two traditional double hulled sailing canoes. 24 voyagers following in the wake of their ancestors. One legacy… closing the Polynesian Triangle. Te Ara ki te Pito o te Whenua | Voyage to Rapanui.”
What I think:
Real stars of 2012 in New Zealand, were the Maori sailing crew who sailed all the way to Rapanui (Easter Island) only using the ocean and earth’s elements of navigation to make the adventurous journey. Remarkable, reminding all in New Zealand of our earliest explorers, discovers and adventurous settlers. Without the backing of major sponsors they rocked an amazing show of a historic landing. On ya!
There news can be read at Wakatapu’s official website.
All of these media outlets covered the crew’s adventurous ocean journey:
Australia Network News – 6 December 2012-http://www.abc.net.au – 6 December 2012, 5:30pm -Traditional canoes complete NZ to Easter Island expedition. “Everybody’s feeling very elated – it’s been a long time at sea and obviously it’s had its challenges,” the crew told Radio Australia. Listen to audio. (more…)

FIJI’S FORTITUDE OF SPIRIT – 16th DECEMBER 2012
Unless by some miracle the serious storm is averted, Fiji is preparing for Cyclone Evan’s arrival after Samoa was hit by the storm.
Monday evening or early Tuesday morning is when the storm’s effects are set to hit the Island archipelago nation. To be caught up in that reality requires patience, strength, lots of prayer, community uniting and fortitude.
