IN YOUR OWN WAY, RUN

Eric Liddell

…. I want you to do more than just watch a race. I want you to take part in it. I want to compare faith to running in a race. It’s hard. It requires concentration of will, energy of soul… I would like to give you something more permanent, but I can only point the way… I have no formula for winning the race.

Everyone runs in her own way, or his own way.

Eric Liddell, movie lines.

they shall run and not grow weary

ROMANTIC TOURISM QUEENSTOWN 2013

Queenstown Tourism Tamila Efendieva, 27 Gleb TumasyevLast night at the local fish n’ chip shop, a beautiful young Scottish mother strutted in to get dinner. The tall lassie had arrived from Scotland three years ago and married a local pharmacist.

“New Zealand is so beautiful. It’s a paradise,” she gushed in cut-off denim shorts and a golden beach tan, bouncing an adorable Kiwi baby on her hip. Baby looked ten times more contented than her happy, yet lonely Scottish mom.

“The problem is, it is just so far away from the rest of the world.”

“True that,” was the response.

Maybe why NZ stays so beautiful. Who knows? It’s lovely quiet beautiful, I s’pose.

It’s nice to meet the new neighbours in the hood. Fun people.

Photo: Russian couple Tamila Efendieva and Gleb Tumasyev chose the mountains above Queenstown to say ‘I do.’ Alpine Image Co. report that 2000 couples jet in to New Zealand each year to have their weddings close to nature. Good photo.

RACHEL HUNTER’S 2012 WAS A FREAKING INCREDIBLE YEAR FOR NEW ZEALAND REALITY TV CULTURE

A couple of horis and Rachel Hunter turn on a Kiwi Chrissie show 2012

“She sounded all a bit LA and a bit weird,” now she’s not. A NZ commentator explains why 40 is the new 20 as long as E.L James keeps selling her books at the rate she has been.  :)

The truth is, in Kiwiland we love our blonde celebrities as well as our brunettes. Summer is blonde beach babes time to shine.

No one does that better than Rachel Hunter and young Jaime Ridge (think Shiloh Jolie-Pitt grown up). A second generation star, in the same way that Renee Stewart, also rates well on this website regularly. They just have star heat. Hot naturally, like tobasco. Sorta. :)

Nice to see NZ celebrity growing up in the limelight well. In addition you can’t go past Senna Kowhai either, a Maori kid whose also of Brit royalty persuasion too.

Rachel Hunter had a huge year. (more…)

SCOTTISH DOCTOR ANDREW MURRAY LOVES RUNNING MARATHONS ON ZERO SLEEP

Apparently Scotland has a lot of Andrew Murrays. Here’s a story:

Andrew Murray a Scottish GP is addicted to running. From Aberdeen, yet practicing medicine in Edinburgh in between jogging, Andrew just can’t get enough of the marathan action. He is set to run seven ultra marathons on seven continents in seven days.

His challenge will take him to Antarctica, Patagonia, Atlanta, London, Egypt, Dubai and Australia.

He’s chirpy. Up in spirit. Yet ironically his jetlag schedule is not healthy at all or good for the tinana either. Quite an effort of energy dude’s gonna expend. Unusual.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SOCCER: CELTIC 2. BARCELONA 1.

Soccer’s 1 rocking fan: “A day after celebrating their 125th anniversary, Scottish Premiere League side Celtic earned what is being hailed as one of the club’s greatest ever victories in a 2-1 Champions League win against Barcelona.–Yahu has more.

Such an emotional Scots hockey dad is Rod Stewart when supporting the Celts. Stewart shed tears of joy. I cried watching Rod cry. (How stupid that happened). What a day for the Scots side.

Manager’s Quote: “The players are heroes to me. I cannot speak highly enough of their performance. They will go down in the history books as the team which beat probably the best team in the world. When we scored first we knew we would need a bit of luck, and we got that. You need your goalkeeper to be fantastic to beat Barcelona.”–Neil Lennon, Celtic. Photo: au.eurosport.com.

DAD’S EXHUBERANCE OF SPIRIT

My dad and I often have 100% opposite political views in life. Our opinions also differ largely based on our different life experiences.

Yet as different as we are, (and we don’t see each other often these days), dad has always been one of my best mates and sounding boards.

Visiting me today, dad spoke of getting through “crunch and munch” times in life. Dad and mom have survived many of those as a South Pacific family living in Fiji, Tonga in the early years of their marriage and also in New Zealand. Well, I’ve witnessed my folks get through another crunch and munch time in the last nine months.

What happened to my folks was extremely unfair, verging on racism. Yet they ploughed on through it. Found a true team of supporters and have and are rebuilding their lives. Dad’s exhuberance of spirit has always been a defining trait of his life. Although we debate life’s views strongly (he raised me that way) together on our own, his spirit is full of wise joy most days.

When dad left today, I couldn’t help thinking of the word exhuberannce. A visionary thinker in his own way (mostly in spiritual ways… unlike me :), dad has always been a forward thinking visionary Kiwi man.

Let’s end this post on that word then. Exhuberant means: (adjective). full of energy, excitement, and cheerfulness: a noisy bunch of exuberant youngsters. characterized by a vigorously imaginative artistic style: exuberant, over-the-top sculptures. literary growing luxuriantly or profusely: exuberant foliage. RICHIE McCAW IN EDINBURGH SCOTLAND

The All Blacks got down to some sightseeing in Edbinburgh and the Lothians, Scotland while on tour.

Looks fun. Photo: Getty Images/ TVNZ.

Liam Napier writes how: “In the 107-year rivalry, Scotland has never beaten the All Blacks, only managing two draws in the 28 encounters.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen notes: “They are very physical and have one of the biggest packs we’ll come across,” Hansen said. “At home they are a very proud nation. They will play tenaciously and look to slow our ball down. They’ll look to play a bit more attacking rugby with Scotty Johnson around. Right across the pack they will attack us. It will be a good challenge.”
