MOM’S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2012 – HOPE FOR THE FUTURE, HAPPINESS THAT WILL STAY
My mom arrives. Her Ngapuhi-Ngati Whaatua eyes are youthful. Glowing with playfulness. They dance like the waves of Tonga, Fiji and Samoa in calm tide time.
Her arms are laden with Christmas dinner. A feast. A kiss, a hug, a warm embrace. An exchange of pleasantries. Then the young, yet old lady dances off down the stairs again. In her role as “super kuia,” she’s mega busy. Having fun, she’s in her element. Mom is so cute today.
Mom’s card says: … el… (more…)
SPORTS TALENT MANAGEMENT – JULIAN SAVEA HAD A GOOD YEAR 2012
2012 was the year of sports stars cementing a profile. Julian Savea (a Samoan-Kiwi) shined as a power sports star, in 2012.
Julian’s talent was recognized early. In 2010, Savea was named IRB’s junior rugby player of the year. This year he did not drop the ball demonstrating his abilities at top level sport for New Zealand. An outstanding year.
I wonder who 2013′s young stand out new, talented sports stars will be? :) (more…)

The cyclone is now tracking southwest towards Fiji and gathering strength where Fiji has urged its people to be prepared.

007 HARD NEWS JOURNALIST ANGELS & THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN 14th DECEMBER 2012
They are the journalists New Zealand loves. They can do no wrong. PippaWetzell, Miriama Kamo & Alison Mau are all in the running for the new hard news current events show of 2013 in NZ. A window to the world, in the box of Aotearoa New Zealand’s increasingly important resources of natural wealth to the world’s future survival and well being in a largely peaceful nation.
You can’t really choose one out of these three ladies. They’re all amazing. If you think about it… it’s so hard to be sexy and read the news. I mean, news happens right?! Someone’s gotta serve it up. Yet these girls have the gig down pat, they own the news and put their own creative stamp on it, before you can say lunch time on any working day. They work hard.
Miri is more facts driven out of the three, so… she’s my choice as the mainstay lady to feed the ball wide. Yet all three are right up there with a NZ audience. Can’t go wrong with either one.
Let’s start with Miri. So excited for news in 2013… all three ladies are amazing! :)
The Horiwood Top Ten are:
2. Pussy Riot – Nicole Kidman for the girls of Russia
4. Tennessee’s Reese Witherspoon is hood proud
5. Maori Men
8. Rocking The Big Apple – Bruce & Jon
9. Samoa News
10. Taylor Lautner
Bonus: My choice – Petra Bagust appears for Mr. Tamati Coffey‘s stellar year 2012 as a gracious + talented Kiwi starmaker.

JULIAN SAVEA’S DEBUT YEAR OF INTERNATIONAL RUGBY WAS STRONG 2012
2012 saw some stand out stars for New Zealand. One was young Julian Savea. Three tries scored on a Irish debut test for the All Blacks. He went on to give All Blacks fans something to cheer about at Twickenham in his final match of the year. JS scored nine tries in 12 tests. At 22 he plays a game of power rugby that sees Savea listed as NZ’s best left wing. He is said to have added finesse to his power.
I just think he was born that way. A little Samoan power house.

RUGBY NEWS: FRANCE 22. SAMOA 14.
Sports News: Rugby World Cup 2011 runners up, France again showed their mettle as rugby sports stars of the code. In France’s last appearance as a team, they pipped Samoa to take a win 22-14.
When you think of how much investment funds goes into French rugby and how much is allocated to Samoa via spends, that’s a good result for Samoa. And a win is a win, so France can be proud of that too.
Results: France 22 (Frederic Michalak try, conversion, 4 penalties, Morgan Parra penalty), Samoa 14 (David Lemi, Joe Tekori tries; Tusi Pisi 2 conversions). HT: 10-7
Congrats France and Samoa. Photo: Frederic Michalak, France. AP Photo via Yahoo News.

RUGBY NEWS: NEW ZEALAND ALL BLACKS 33. WALES 10.
Rugby News: New Zealand’s rugby All Blacks last performance on the rugby football pitch against Wales. The result? The All Blacks 33. Wales 10.
Wales 10 (S. Williams, A. Cuthbert tries). New Zealand 33 (L. Messam, T. Woodcock, L. Romano tries; A. Cruden 2 cons, 5 pens).
Aaron Cruden who stood in for legendary NZ kicker, Daniel Carter performed well too, the duration of the test. The depth of talent in the Steve Hansen coached side is evident. Quick ball from the AB’s was a disntictive aspect of the New Zealand side’s winning play.

BREAKTHROUGH RUGBY POP ART
In Maori mythology we know of Ranginui (the Skyfather) and Papatuanuku (the Earth that nurtures us all).
This contemporary work by Marco Innocenti of Italia that features rugby icons and ancient historical references fused into one artwork, reminds me of sky and earth in tandem synergy. Apia Samoa’s Jerry Collins is playing the sky.
