TAKE THE CROWN DROPS IN UK 4th NOVEMBER 2012 – IT’S A ROBBIE WILLIAMS SHOW AGAIN

Robbie Williams new album Take The Crown drops today. I saw Robbie with Trinity Dodd at Mount Smart in Auckland City yonks ago. He rocked the entire concert in a kilt, black doc martin boots, a black Fred Dagg singlet and his ta moko Maori tattoo on show. It was such a good concert. Memorable.

RW’s latest press interview aired in NZ via TVNZ’s Sunday program last night. It can be viewed by pressing play at video link.

The line that best sums up Robbie’s self-deprecating rocker humor is: “it’s never gonna get better.”

Too funny! What a journey. .

FRANCOIS HOLLANDE PRESENTS SIR PAUL McCARTNEY WITH LEGION D’HONNEUR AWARD FOR A LIFE OF ROCK MUSIC SONGWRITING

People who write sing-a-longs are kinda spesh. Here’s a story. I often wondered why Robbie Williams had never broken into the U.S music market. In concert, Robbie is the best example of a Brit rocker-entertainer whose fans sing-a-long to all of his songs. In fact, in concert it is not uncommon for Robbie to just start a song. His fans sing it, while Robbie acts as band conductor listening to his fans sing his music.

Easy money and well deserved. The craft of simple yet effective tunes people can sing to.  One of Williams mentors, of course is Sir Paul McCartney of The Beatles.

On that note, Miriam Coleman of Rolling Stone Magazine reported: Sir Paul McCartney became an officer of France’s Legion of Honour on Saturday in a private ceremony at the Élysée Palace in Paris. French president Francois Hollande joked that he preferred the Beatles to the Rolling Stones.

“It is such an honor to be awarded this,” McCartney said of France’s appreciation for his contribution to music. Hollande also joked that he preferred McCartney over bandmate John Lennon. Liza Minnelli, Lenny Kravitz, Laurence Olivier and Miles Davis are a list of other non-French nationals to have received the award in yester-years.

A vintage classic ballad of The Beatles, written for all the children of the world. Here’s Hey Jude.

CHRISTCHURCH GOOGLE LOVES CHRISTCHURCH – TRENDS TRACKING ONLINE – 2.9.12

Over 3,000 set topics make up Horiwoodblog.Com’s website content. Google’s ranking for “Horiwoodblog” today as a search term lists Christchurch The Garden City as the most read topic today on this website.

Who do I blame for that Christchurch online heat? It’s a Southern take over, literally! Well, Sophie Pascoe, the gold medallist whose just won another gold and her third medal in London in the swimming pool is from Christchurch City is most probably to blame for that. Daniel Carter holding a rugby football cup lives in Christchurch too. Mark Solomon the Maori corporate chief of Ngai Tahu Maori tribe lives in Christchurch. Mark is pretty spesh and Solomon just wowed Pacific Forum leaders in Rarotonga recently with all of the things they can do with fish and entrepreneurial nouse.

And of course local characters who have links to Christchurch like Gerry Brownlee, Lianne Dalziel and NZ’s PM meeting Hilllary Clinton yesterday. All of these people have links to Otautahi, Christchurch City.

How do I feel about that? I can’t say, I always wanted to be a “Christchurch ad” as a blogger! (Just kidding!). Christchurch people are in my heart, as a Kiwi. I left for the USA from Christchurch. It was the most beautiful city to live in. Always romantic in former times.

I think it’s quite cheeky, the South has managed to take over this blog today online though. Jeanette Thomas TV Talk Show gal and Piri Weepu, author and rugby world champion, of Auckland City, also take the no.1 spot with Google’s ranking along with Carter.

Google’s graphic this father’s day 2012 is crayons in orange and purple as a reminder to create & play & get creative at all times. The graphic is a father playing soccer with two kids. Cute. I should be a bit more diligent at covering soccer more on this website. It is the largest single sport in the world in terms of followers and fans. One of the highlights of the Olympics was seeing a Maori cousin represent in soccer at the 2012 Olympic games.

To learn more about Christchurch, a city rebuilding, click on this link or jump on a plane and go see for yourself. Be there.

Otautahi Thoughts: Some of us really know what it means to be able to say this. So: What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. Live better.

Music: Robbie WilliamsBetter Man. Live at Knebworth.

ROBBIE WILLIAM’S LIVE VERSION OF MACK THE KNIFE, BUCKINGHAM PALACE 2012

Always smile like you mean it.

He was introduced in a little concert recently, after the eccentric Grace Jones hula hooped her way through an amazonia- like and seemingly ageless, live performance at Buckingham Palace in London, as the man ”having more tattoos than a Maori Chieftain.” Fancy that?! :)

On a night where fruitcake and mini-burgers were humorously served up at Britain’s palace, here’s the incomparable Mr Robbie Williams, with his latest live rendition of legend Frank Sinatra‘s famous New York crooner song, Mack The Knife.

For younger peeps of audiences, who may not know the ditty, lyrics to this rather gruesome song and favorite Wall Street jingle follow:

Oh, the shark has pretty teeth dear. And he shows ‘em, pearly white. Just a jack knife has Macheath dear. And he keeps it way out of sight.
When that shark bites with his teeth, dear Scarlet billows they begin to spread. Fancy white gloves has Macheath dear, So there’s never, never a trace of red. (more…)

ROBBIE WILLIAMS HAS FANS IN NEW ZEALAND

Popular today is Brit crooner and rocker Robbie Williams. Performing for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations Williams still knows how to rock a crowd.

He’s known in New Zealand for his appreciation of Maori culture and spirituality. He’s also the only artist to broadcast live concerts to movie theaters around the world, where his fans flocked to movie theaters to see this artist perform.

The clever singer found a way, to not even go on tour. In that regard, he’s a bit of a trailblazing icon of entertainment distribution.

STRONG by ROBBIE WILLIAMS – LIVE AT KNEBWORTH

You don’t have to be perfect. Just always sing your songs. Step inside the sun–Robbie Williams

Gotta have some Robbie Williams going on in the American mix.

Here’s a Commonwealth anthem most of us know. It’s a wonder that Robbie never made it big in the USA. His music is very American friendly. I reckon anway!

Here’s to bringing back the sound of the guitar. Enjoy. :)

ROBBIE WILLIAMS REACHES 20 YEARS IN MUSIC

Robbie Williams, British entertainer (he’s more than a singer) extraordinaire, the male equivalent of Beyonce or Lady Gaga–celebrates 20 years in the music industry by thanking his fans for their loyal support.

Robbie is a big fan of the people of New Zealand and the South Pacific; and he once dated Kiwi supermodel Rachel Hunter. The UK’s man of unofficial national anthems sports a Maori ta moko (body artistry… not to be confused with the word tattoo); from the indigenous Maori people (nick: horis) of New Zealand.

Congrats Robbie Williams. Mauri ora brother. Well done.

NEW MUSIC: HELPING HAITI EVERYBODY HURTS

As reported, UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, asked Simon Cowell, to produce a charity music track for Haiti. Cowell chose REM‘s Everybody Hurts for the track.

Mariah CareyLeona Lewis, Susan Boyle, Kylie Minogue, Rod Stewart are on the track. Robbie Williams sounds amazing on it.

The song could have done with some Andrae Crouch vocal direction for the song’s finale. Andrae is the singer, who co-created  the vocal arrangements of Man In the Mirror for Michael Jackson. Everybody Hurts lacks the big finale and uplfit, utilizing all of the voices involved that Crouch could have given the song, but I still like it and it is for a good cause. A nice effort from Cowell and friends.

Here’s the cover artwork and the music. The song can be pre-ordered here.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS SAYS “NO” TO EUROPEAN MUSIC AWARDS

RobbieWilliamsConcert

The European Music Awards wanted Robbie Williams to perform a 4 minute set. They couldn’t ‘accommodate Robbie’s set requirements,’ so he bailed.

Now he is being branded a diva.

My thoughts are: if you want a great artist to paint, provide them with a descent enough canvas and a correct environment.

Nice one Robbie. Dissing Europe, means that America now wants Williams. And that will be a first for Robbie Williams to break into the US.

To see why Robbie Williams is one of the greatest live solo artists in concert on the planet (apart from owning Maori hori ink and the fact he dated a Kiwi girl, of course), go here to see Robbie break entertainment records and perform.

MICHAEL JACKSON: THIS IS NOT IT CAMPAIGN

It’s the case of The People (Tribe Michael Jackson Fans) Vs AEG.

People deal with grief in strange ways. A group of Michael Jackson fans are committed to saying that AEG exploited Michael Jackson so much that the much touted AEG This Is It documentary is really an account of how much the King of Pop was abused by corporate entertainment greed before he died.

MichaelJacksonThisIsItGo here to the This Is Not It website, to see these fans complain campaign.

Having seen the way Brit Pop star, Robbie Williams is breaking records touring in movie theaters with live broadcasts, these fans do have a point.

#1: CANADIAN CROONER MICHAEL BUBLE BEATS TWILIGHT NEW MOON’S MOVIE SOUNDTRACK

 MichaelBublePic

Michael Buble our favorite crooner from Canada, beat Twilight New Moon‘s movie soundtrack to the #1 sales spot this week on Billboard’s charts.

According to our friends at CD Insight:

“Bublé sold 203,000 copies in his second week, a 55 % increase from his 1st week of sales. “New Moon” may have sold more than 115,000 copies if its release date, pushed forward to Oct. 16 as opposed to the traditional Tuesday release on Oct. 20, could have included a full week of sales.

Never a conformist, Bublé also released his album on the atypical Friday, Oct. 9. In the three days his album was out, the Canadian singer sold 132,000 copies of his 4th album.” What a voice. Michael Buble is like the Robbie Williams of Canada. Go Canada today!

ROBBIE WILLIAMS IS AN ANGEL OF RECORD BREAKING ENTERTAINMENT

RobbieWilliamsTaMoko1

British entertainer, Robbie Williams who once dated, Scotland’s rock crooner Rod Stewart’s ex-wife, Kiwi supermodel, Rachel Hunter, is a record breaking entertainer in the UK.

Williams star power has been clocked by the Guiness Book of Records as Reuters notes by reporting via The Hollywood Reporter that:

A performance by British pop star Robbie Williams, broadcast to more than 250 theatres around the world, set a world record on Tuesday by having the largest number of screenings of a live concert in theaters.

“BBC Worldwide’s live show of Williams’ sold-out “Electric Proms” show, beamed to 23 countries, marked the “most simultaneous cinematic screenings of a live concert” in history. The concert was shown via satelitte in movie theaters. Innovative TV broadcasting.

Germany, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland all participated. And, Mexico City, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and other countries are in next for the concert experience treat. It’s really how Michael Jackson should have ‘toured.’

In addition: “Williams holds another Guinness World Record as Robbie’s 2009 “Close Encounters” tour sold 1.6 million tickets in a single day.”

Though underrated in America, a market he has never had success in, Robbie Williams is the Michael Jackson of the UK.  Live in concert, Williams is brills! I once went to see Robbie live in Auckland City with Trinity Brookes, when Lady Paticria Thorp gave us tickets. Patricia was just so kinda all sorts of connected for a ‘good governance granny!’ She was a sweetheart and Trin loved her grandma’s taste in rockers at the concert. Robbie Williams killed it.

Anyway, Robbie just starts a song, and we his fans, finish off all the lyrics. It is like a sing-a-long where Williams plays conducter in a kilt, doc martins, a black wife beater that reveals his ta moko artistry (his Maori tattoo). He’s awesome.

Has he just reinvented how artists ‘tour’? Robbie Williams doesn’t even need to.

RobbieWilliamsTaMokoMaoriTattoo

Go here to hear Robbie Williams Angels song, live in Berlin. Love him! Only an angel could get paid, for other people to sing all their songs at a concert. Britney Spears can do this too, in concert. True stars.
