Superstorm Sandy has sadly claimed 39 lives in the USA and Canada. USA news media are very saddened today in most reports. America is grieving. Caught up again in yet another Hurricane Katrina saga in a different region with a larger storm footprint. It is a disturbing trend that will grow in the USA in years ahead. We must all work together to plan for this.
Superstorms are caused and created. How exactly? A few factors do it. The biggest being climate change due to over-consumption of the earth’s resources and their effects on air and the atmosphere. Canada is where the storm is moving to. Let’s see what Canada’s news media has to say.
Guest Commentary – Weather Science – Canada:
MIT’s climate scientist Kerry Emanuel calls Hurricane Sandy a hybrid storm, a rare type that scientists don’t know much about. He says its damaging rainfall is the sort of thing we’ll see more of in the future due to climate change.
Kerry Emanuel: It is correct to say that in no individual [weather] event can you really make an attribution to anything, whether it is climate change or El Nino or your grandmother had her tooth pulled this morning. You just can’t do it for a single event. It is just the nature of the game.

Now, Sandy is an example of what we call a hybrid storm. It works on some of the same principles as the way hurricanes work but it also works on the same principles as winter storms work. Hurricanes and winter storms are powered by completely different energy sources. The hurricane is powered by the evaporation of sea water. Winter storms are powered by horizontal temperature contrasts in the atmosphere. So hybrid storms are able to tap into both energy sources. That’s why they can be so powerful. (more…)

RIRI’S UNAPOLOGETIC ARTISTRY – REVELATION RELEVANCY NEEDED -11th OCTOBER 2012
LA’s no.1 resident pop celebrity, demonstrates the art of exotic distraction as American celebrity.
What is Rihanna up to today? Well, at first glance:
she is being the full tit, full on!
Indeed, Riri has unveiled the cover and title of her new album Unapologetic.
Some of her favorite buzzwords (as witnessed over the last few months on her social media hobby) feature with the Isis tattoo tribute to her late grandma.
Cool buzzwords feature too, as in: ”iLove fun,” “Happy,” “fearless,” ”faith,” that give the lighter notes to the more heavier words, Riri’s life experiences have drawn her to own, pick up and wear as her star template in the next phase of stardom. Also of note is “censored.”
At the top of entertainment – the air is thin, you are vulnerable while being charged with projecting an image of strength. You are often a target. I like the image as a pop art statment. It is honest for who Riri is and her position right now. The Egypt references, you do feel living in LA. It was unexplainable to me why I would sense Egypt so strongly living in LA. The following blog images (from this website’s archives) show a few moments of Egypt in an LA reality. I couldn’t understand why Egypt was so prevalent in the USA, yet you have a strong sense of it, if you’re living in it. (Well, I always did).
So Rihanna’s cover artwork is a tres LA image to me.
Egypt entering one’s consciousness lots in the USA can be noted at tahi, rua and toru for example.

WHEN PAUL SIMON REMEMBERED GRACELAND IN SOUTH AFRICA
Before pop star, Rihanna ever got a black eye in a youthful lover’s overheated spat in surreal Los Angeles one year, veteran American singer Paul Simon turned up in South Africa many years prior, to sing a tune for Nelson Mandela.
The moment was marked by the honey-ed harmonies of a band of brothers in the all boy band Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
It was an event that recognized and symbolized no more oppressive pain for Mandela. Here’s that live moment of Graceland.
