We live in times where economic abuse of young families has increased as inequality was encouraged and went unchecked. The tee shirt is a statement on that overarching structuring of economists and the wealthy in most countries, including NZ. REFLECTING ON LIFE AFTER A TEDDY BEAR’S PICNIC IN 2013
Before I left for the USA in 2006, a song was sung to me in Christchurch City of the South of New Zealand. While living in the USA I watched the world economy kinda collapse. It was definitely restructured. Peoples homes in the USA were the reason given, that started it all. It was a full on experience titled the GFC. It was played out in every front page newspaper headlines during those years. LA Times, NY Times, WSJ were all papers you had to read. I read all three daily in those days. Perhaps the most news I’ll ever read again in my life on a daily basis. The headlines couldn’t be ignored. News was so dramatic during those years.
Back in New Zealand in 2011 on the return, I learned that one of my Maori tribes now owned a forest. I thought of the song again, when I learned that news. The song lyrics of the song is what some parents in New Zealand still sing to their children today. You might know it too. You know… it is:

POP ART ARTISTRY, 23RD MOST VOTED STAR TOPIC 2012
In a year where gaffes, fumbles, gimmicks abounded on a global stage in very unpredictable times people turned to pop art as distraction.
The 23rd most voted topic of 2012 is pop art. Fancy that.
Let’s go with the godfather of Pop Art then … Although I was tempted to go with the Playboy Bunny-Star Wars work, in the snobby Hollywood Art Gallery where art is so expensive, a security guard is present to see the art at any given time. You really have a Brad Pitt moment, when you are looking at pop art in such a gallery like that with a security guard beside you. It’s funny surreal.
Here’s Rubini, a popular California pop art artist, with a take on Andy Warhol‘s Marilyn Monroe. Her visage in film, is the auteur (in part) of Angelina Jolie‘s star template and actors like her. Jolie added action and tough smarts to her star mix too to evolve what actors could do in the Hollywood hood that Monroe added to with fame from Hollywood.
Young artists creating pop art in Hollywood are so clever. They do new works that should be seen if you visit Cali. They are everywhere. Lotsa fun. They take the wealth of Hollywood icons and mix it up into new American art. Very clever. For Americans Hollywoood is their culture. Pop art defines much of USA’s reproduction of images, the nation who reproduces their images ten times more and faster than any other nation on earth. Pop art is derived from that particular aspect of American culture. Go see California.
