AT THE COUNTY FAIR WITH MOM

Ian and Jamie NZhitting up the fair today… a farming community having fun.

how it was: up at the fair, the young farmers club regional contest is on.

craig williamson from methven-ashburton way is the sponsoring bank’s m.c. as the farmer contestants compete in a constructed obstacle course.

it’s nothing flash: eggs, giant cream trifle squares in plastic containers, forestry, utes, pruning pine trees then felling pine trees to fall on a black balloon, loading quad bike trailers with green fence posts, looking for electronic tags in hay bales, solving concrete blocks puzzles, strainer posts fencing games are what the farmers do over an interesting rural soundtrack barrage of coded farming commentary: it’s all a bit potty, laden with otago gold dig & s-land slap stick comical references to help our farmers out. all done in heavy-undertoned rural humour (heavier than previous years of farming scene observes, i might add) with a serious business face to boot, for sure. the mc truly clever in their craft.

c-bury is in a land so far away to these farmer’s community’s realities, in local terms i question its strong presence at the event’s location. it does recognise diversity of region in nz perhaps, to entertain a group of particular farmers. in farming banter terms souther-exotic even. they’re good sports, they don’t react to the invasion of their consciousness at a cultural-community regionally-proud ag-level in their own right.

the amusing mood? farmers kindergarten-activities for grown ups – meets lots of enthusiastic support. a good crowd to be in. it is harmless fun in the sun.   (more…)

POETICS – CREATED BEINGS

poem of the day: we are all created beings :)

Waitangi Day poem 2013.

~Posted by Horiwoodblog, Aotearoa New Zealand, Polynesia Asia-Pacific. 6.2.13~

THE PM’S SPEECH FEB 6 2013

“It would be good to see [NZ's ability to enter into the spirit of Waitangi Day more on a daily basis of expression in NZ business and cultural life], but I’m not sure that we can or should try to force it. We are not by nature a nation of flag-wavers…. [although] there was no other day on which the weight of history was felt quite so heavily…  It is marked across an emotional spectrum that ranges from great passion among some of those gathered here, to indifference from those Kiwis whose sole interest in the day is encompassed by the weather forecast… Turning around the current waste of human potential [due to encouraging decades long smug racist attitudes in New Zealand, that often go unchallenged and are encouraged in NZ, including in Welligton, the nation's capital] would do more for Maori and for New Zealand than probably any other single change… It is one of the reasons why we have a positive and forward-looking relationship between iwi and Crown. I have no doubt that we New Zealanders are better off because of it.”

–pride towards Maori and New Zealand is currently not reflected in the economic data per citizen concerning Maori that Mr Key’s government hs lead. Under his lead, Maori have been marginalised quite significantly and the tone has often been unwelcoming to Maori that has been heard from his office over the course of the past few years. (more…)

WEB PUBLISHING TO NEWSPRINT – HERALD NZ FEB 6TH 2013

NZHWaiDay2013Feb13-1NZHWaiDay2013Feb13-2NZHWaiDay2013Feb13-3NZHWaiDay2013Feb13-4NZHWaiDay2013Feb13-5It is NZ’s most significant day. That being, Waitangi Day 2013. So what does New Zealand’s national newspaper have to showcase? On its website, the featured news links (visually pictured on this post) are what the editors selected on NZ’s national day as stories for consideration.

Some of the many international well wishes, phoned in were as follows:

“Waitangi Day is an opportunity for the country to reflect on its unique culture and diverse heritage. President Obama and the people of the United States, send congratulations and best wishes to the people of New Zealand as you commemorate the February 6 anniversary of the Treaty of Waitangi, or Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

“This is an opportunity to celebrate the promise of the future as new generations carry on your rich traditions. Our countries share a commitment to work together to bring peace, stability, and sustainability to the Pacific region and beyond. As New Zealanders around the world come together to celebrate, I wish you a happy Waitangi Day, and a prosperous and successful year.”

–US. Secretary of State, phones it on February 6th (Feb 5th U.S time) 2013.

A reminder that “strong enduring friendship deepens” when “diplomatic relations are established” and celebrated between New Zealand’s people at home. On that basis, diplomatic relations with trading partners and allies outside of NZ, than have integrity that is secured and real, to also be strong, today and in the future.

Mauri Ora.

NEW ZEALAND DAY, WAITANGI DAY 2013

Te Arawa Mana Flag

A full sense of nationhoodAlthough the spirit of Waitangi Day lies in honoring Maori inclusion as equal business partners with The Crown each day, Waitangi Day celebrations are “to give us a full sense of nationhood” du jour in agreement for all that New Zealanders as a team are trying to achieve.

To stay in agreement with the principles of Waitangi’s foundational spirit (to see others different to ourselves as equals) is the benchmark of respect in New Zealand that our founding fathers and mothers hoped for, when they as intelligent and adventurous people inked a deal to uphold justice – in the concept of communities evolving and being strong trading partners working together for the good of Aotearoa, NZ.

John Key Titiwhai Harawera Naida Glavish Waitangi Day 2013Prime Minister John Key said, he believed Waitangi Day was a valuable opportunity for discussion and stood by his commitment.

“How will history judge [us]? History will judge [us as New Zealanders] well because [we] come back year after year.”

He also urged the iwi [Ngapuhi] involved in the Te Hiku collective to sort out their differences and move toward a settlement, saying it would inject as much as $200 million into an area that greatly needed it.

Ngapuhi has over 20% of the Maori population. Ironically, the tribe is one of the last to settle with The Crown. So, a timely speech from the PM to Ngapuhi.

WAIHEKE POLITICS – A DIFFERENT PRACTICAL VIEW OF NZ

Waiheke Views"you have to break food dependency. co-ops aren't the answer either."

–Waiheke Island residents’ view of what NZ needs to do on hierarchical monopolies games. tear up the grass, grow more veges, wherever you see grass (within respecting property rules, of course), was the view.

too funny. practical though. exports would go up if nz does.

WATER CURRENCY SHIFTS, DROUGHT, RISING HEAT’S GLOBAL TRENDS ON AGRICULTURE YIELDS

Caffein Packaging

shifting water + water cyphoning – the world’s water-based economy’s flows tracking:

If there’s one thing I noticed about the world in the last seven years has been that when it comes down to it, water currencies make the world go round. Especially, when it comes to peace on earth.

I lived in Los Angeles. It is a city consisting of 20m people (in LA and surrounding cities) where you had to purchase every drop of water to survive.

In NZ, our no.1 business story is probably farming + agriculture’s flows and how water from New Zealand is gathered together from all over the green NZ paddock to create milk powder.

The profits of the waters’ fruit in dairy, is highly sought after in Asian nations now. What do Asian nation’s want? A piece of NZ’s water supply, effectively, now turned to a protein format.  So NZ’s water is still the currency being shifted (or cyphoned) from NZ’s landscape for people living afar off. (more…)

TTG, NDA GROUP, AG-SCI & WHAT GREG MUIR’S TEAM COULD DEVELOP NEXT FOR NZ FARMERS BEST INDUSTRY INTERESTS & ENDEAVORS

Greg Muir TTG and Tracking Producitivity from FarmGate To Global Export Brand Leveraging and Distribution 2013Tru-Test Group, that fuses electronics for the agi-sci industry purchased Dairy Technology Services from NDA Group.

The agri-tech group finished 16th on the TIN100 survey of companies set up to improve technology and research. TTG splashed $73m for the acquisition.

What’s needed now is for a company like TTG, to develop the same thing with a banking software system invention, that can then track ‘white gold’ (aka dried dairy product with the water then extracted) around the world to see if NZ farmers are achieving the best brand leverage from dairy leaving the farm gate to distribution world wide. KIWI POLITICS & NZ MUSIC PUB TUNE CLASSICS FEB 4 2013

David Shearer Feb2013

Chinese Boating Poetry Image A 2000 year old tradition
“[NZ's founding agreement that determines all race relations of equality or inequality in truth principle], The Treaty, still symbolises a continuing commitment to different cultures working together.
Asian New Zealanders in New Zealand now outnumber those from the Pacific islands and, according to the most recent available census figures, are our fastest growing population sector – up 50 per cent between 2001 and 2006.”
