SATELLITE HUMBLE – BEYONCE’S ONLINE SOCIAL MEDIA, MERCHANDISING MARKETING STRATEGIES AMP UP 2013

Satellite Humble Beyonce's Social Media Merch Marketing Ramps Up 2013

Beyonce Knowles is a bit of a merch marketing empire. The Houston native, NYC dwelling diva not only blogs, instagrams too, she’s also launched BeyHive. Kinda Austin Powers funny. It’s a website ”through my eyes,” the singer-dancing-athlete says. Artwork of fans is what the site features (Americans go overboard for creating pop art tributes to their most loved stars, in a way nz doesn’t yet know how to, or care to much either). Interesting ideas Beyonce is loving or being inspired by also make the site.

The singer’s fan base in New Zealand is strong. We’ll be in the mode to “stay tuned” for sure. Why we like her? Her sister is funny on twitter. I’ve been a big fan of Solange too since Sol-Angel started on social media as a pioneer of it, way back when. A beautiful creative artist with words and cultural expression in quite an understated cleva way. Non stop cleva. (more…)

SACOUSTIC INSULATION DESIGN TECHNOLOGY & GREEN ROOVED CITYSCAPES

sacoustic insulation technology and green roof citiesPhoto: this rooftop garden utilises sacoustic insulation. A layer of glass wool, rock wool or polyurethane foam panels, weighing about 30 Kg / mc, with a vapor barrier is laid out on a slab. The green is then built on a roof or on a terrace of a house, to avoid condensation.

The roof garden not only can feed an apartment building (if growing veges), it’s good for the environment. How exactly? Here’s why:

Water Balance: the green roof can retain up to 70% of the rains to return the water to the environment in the form of water vapor. Air cleaner: the green roof can seal up to 20% of dust that circulates in city air. Noises muffled: the turf absorbs sound. Temperatures Mitigated: reduces heat loss in winter.–source: happy2B@home.

HANNUKAH – IT’S TRUE MEANING FOR JEWS IN THE USA – THE OIL LAMP BURNING AS A MIRACLE, EXPLAINED

The True Meaning of Hannukah

Jews don’t celebrate Christmas. In fact if you live in the USA at Christmas time, the Jewish community can even get really aggressive when it comes to supporting non-Jewish people having a fun Christmas celebration.

American Jews take holidays as the US does and also Jewish holidays too. Believe me, Jews in the USA do worship freely too. Good on them! :)

At the same time, most non-Jewish people don’t know much about Hannukah, one of the many Jewish holiday celebrations.

The New York Times Hilary Leila Krieger is the Washington bureau chief for The Jerusalem Post. Hilary zooms the USA in on The True Meaning of Hannukah. Here’s what she wrote:

Guest Commentary: When my brother was in kindergarten, where he was the only Jewish student, a parent organizing enrichment activities asked my mother to tell the class the story of Hanukkah. My mother obligingly brought in a picture book and began to read about foreign conquerors who were not letting Jews in ancient Israel worship freely, even defiling their temple, until a scrappy group led by the Maccabee family overthrew one of the most powerful armies in the world and won their liberty.

The woman was horrified.

The Hanukkah story, she interrupted, was not about war. It was about the miracle of an oil lamp that burned for eight days without replenishing. She urged my mother to close the book. My mother refused.        (more…)

A BRIT REVIEWER THINKS THE HOBBIT MOVIE IS MILKING IT WITH SCREENTIME DURATION – BORED RIGID

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" New York Premiere Benefiting AFI - Red Carpet And Introduction“Like butter that has been scraped over too much bread,” is how Brit fan and ‘movie reviewer,’ Robbie Collin‘s described the new take on J.R.R Tokien’s book, referring to ”the supernatural world-weariness of Bilbo Baggins” in Sir Peter Jackson‘s new movie. Underneath the heavy costuming, the cast moves around as a kind of amorphous dramatic blob, joked Robbie. Thank heavens for Andy Serkis, whose riddling return as Gollum steals the entire film. Perhaps building it up for films two and three Robbie writes: “as a lover of cinema, Jackson’s film bored me rigid; as a lover of Tolkien, it broke my heart.”–Telegraph. (Robbie is such a good writer).

Without a henous review here and there, why else would you go and see the film at cinemas if not to prove Robbie wrong. There are movie goers who only go to a movie, to do that you know. I do take Robbie’s point though when he suggested that perhaps the movie was a bit long. To a Hobbit fan this means decadent value at movie ticket level, yet perhaps for new audiences to Tolkien’s work onscreen, the critic fears that this is not what the film offers them. My favorite part of Robbie’s review is when he jokingly said, “saying one or two of the characters names wrong for the entire film, is unforgiveable.” If you live in Wellington (Hobbit HQ, New Zealand), that is very funny.

The UK Guardians other Hobbit stories are a bit more kind. Links follow:

FOOTBALL NEWS: JOHNNY MANZIEL WINS HEISMAN TROPHY 2012

Johnny Manziel wins Footballs Heisman Trophy

USA’s No.1 Sports Story is: Johnny Manziel Wins Heisman Trophy: Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel becomes the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.

ESPN reports: One year ago, Johnny Manziel had spent a year at Texas A&M, still hadn’t played a down and found himself without a coach. Texas A&M had fired Mike Sherman, the head coach for whom Manziel had turned down Oregon and Stanford, as well as his staff.

“It was heartbreaking to see them go,” Manziel said. “For me, that was a tough time. There was a time when I didn’t really know where I was going to go from there,” Manziel said. “My fate was kind of up in the air…  I mean, it’s always a dream. You dream about being in New York and hoisting the Heisman Trophy. But for it to become a reality and me to even be here, it’s crazy.”

That victory turned Manziel into a national figure. He stopped watching “SportsCenter.” He didn’t want to hear the raves about Johnny Football.

“If you work hard enough and you put in the time and effort, that’s not going to happen. If you continue to strive to try to be the best football player in the entire world, which I want to be, I think good things will happen… How thankful I am for Coach Sumlin, Coach Kingsbury and Dr. [Eric] Hyman, [the athletic director] and everybody involved in the program,” Manziel said. The Jets’ Greg McElroy on a run in his N.F.L. debut on Sunday.

It’s Christmas in the USA. On the table is the art of father-son football coaching. Greg McElroy of the Russian owned NY Jets NFL team is the star profile of the seasonal holiday family sports entertainment media genre.

Ben Shpigel of the New York Times writes: “FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Greg McElroy and his father, Greg Sr., shared plenty of late-night conversations about his football career. They usually went something like this:

“Quarterback Greg McElroy taking the field between the injured Tim Tebow and the starter Mark Sanchez, whom McElroy replaced in the Jets’ 7-6 victory.

Son: I know I can play.

Father: I know you can. Just stay patient.

Son: But I know I can play.

Father: Stay patient.” Read on…
