NATALIE PORTMAN, 35th MOST VOTED STAR 2012

Natalie Portman is full on into work on the dirty set of Thor 2. A capable movie producer, is there anything Natalie can’t do? So talented.

The Oscar winner is the 35th Most Voted Star of 2012. ViaELLE Canada she shares: “When you’re famous, you put walls up because people want too much from you-strangers get too close.”

A shame as Nat speaks so many different languages…

“SCRUPLES” PRODUCER NATALIE PORTMAN TEAMS UP WITH TONY KRANTZ, BOB BRUSH, MEL HARRIS AND ANNETTE SAVITCH FOR ABC PILOT SEASON

Hollywood’s Golden Girl, Natalie Portman and her new project colleague Tony Krantz (director/ prod) have been given the thumbs up by ABC to make the pilot drama Scruples.

Judith Krantz wrote the 1978 best-sller book, penning a sequel in ’92. The story centers on a rich and powerful clothing designer in a world of sex, revenge and scandal.

Blimey! When does she get time to whip up the clothing collection?

Bob Brush and Mel Harris wrote the adaptation and executive produce with Portman and her producing partner Annette Savitch - with Krantz directing.

Scruples marks the first foray into television for Portman, who won an Oscar last year for Black Swan.

In the world of TV pilots, perhaps the smartest thing a producer can do, is create a sublime title song and an excellent sound track. Audio is something that is increasingly more important in an age where music drives so much of the internet’s growth, and broadband networks profits as well as any major marketing success stories too.

Maybe the Scissor Sisters could think outside the box and create one brilliant track to open this drama?

There’s a thought, for fun.

NATALIE WOOD CASE REOPENS IN LOS ANGELES

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s detective will speak to reporters Friday about the decision to take another look at Oscar-nominated actress Natalie Wood‘s nighttime demise in the chilly waters off Southern California on Nov. 29, 1981.” reports The Associated Press via The LA Times today.

Reuters is reporting that Robert Wagner, Woods husband at the time of her drowning death off a yacht, is not a suspect. The Huffingtonpost looks at Wagner’s words: “”Nobody knows,” Wagner wrote in his best-selling memoir “Pieces of My Heart,” published in 2008.”

The mystery death of Natalie Woods remains one of Hollywood’s unsolved stories.

I am reminded of the classic New Zealand saying, “It’s not [yachts] that kill people… It’s the [champagne privileges of people while yachting] that kills people.”

Of course, I always felt this rather pious saying, was naive on this issue of maritime recreation of the stars.

Meanwhile Natalie Hershlag aka Natalie Portman better be getting ready for Oscars hosting duties, 2012.

Needless to say, it’s a sad day for a Hollywood actor, when a CNNnews story, has higher billing on Google, than one’s IMDb profile. Some actors best get back to work, asap!

NATALIE PORTMAN PROMOTES FINCA – MICROFUNDING INCENTIVE FOR WOMEN IN BIZ

In her latest round of press, Hollywood’s reigning Oscars queen for 2011, leverages her young Hollywood spotlight onto FINCA, an organization I’d never heard about, that makes a difference in providing for women who have a biz dream.

Here’s what Portman said recently.

What causes are closest to your heart? Girls’ education. Seeing how many girls in the world do not have that opportunity, I feel so lucky that I was able to go to school. It affects the rest of their lives, the age at which they have children, their susceptibility to disease, their job, earning power and their status in society. Education really is a powerful way to change the lives of girls and women in the world.

FINCA is an organisation promoting village banking to break poverty cycles. It is so abstract to imagine someone else’s life going on at the same time, so different from yours. There are literally billions of parallel lives. So, to actually travel the world, meet all kinds of people, talk with them and hear what their day is like, what makes them happy or sad, what their problems, joys and successes are, makes it less abstract and more real: it takes you out of your own petty circumstances.

What is the most powerful life experience you shared?
I have been lucky to have many, such as meeting the women who were clients of FINCA, all of whom have been very inspiring. Seeing the depths of poverty in places like Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya really stays with you. I have also seen the hopeful side: it is possible to make changes, it just takes a lot of work. Those things definitely change you, because you do not encounter them in a middle-class upbringing in the United States.”

It’s encouraging to see a star always thinking outside the comfort zone of privilege to consider others. Perhaps this is what makes Portman a star worthy of press in a world where we often don’t consider others enough… outside of our own needs and wants. For more go here to N-Portman.Org.

Portman can be seen in the movie Hesher with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Rainn Wilson in a film by Spencer Susser. The synopsis of the film, that hit theaters yesterday in the USA:

DARREN ARONOFSKY DEFENDS NATALIE PORTMANS DANCING

THE OSCARS BALLET FILM COVER UP, A DANCER SAYS SHE DID MORE WORK THAN NATALIE PORTMAN

Humor this weekend comes via Sarah Lane, one of two dancer body doubles working on the set of Natalie Portman‘s Oscars winning performance of Black Swan.

Sarah says that only 5% of the dancing in the film was Natalie. The rest was her. This has lead the film’s choreographer Ben Millepied to be involved in a tennis match of opinion with Sarah in the news of late. Benjamin claims 85% of the film features Natalie dancing as her character, not as Sarah claims.

In any event, it’s a shame Sarah does not quite have Natalie’s beautiful face. Needless to say Ben Millepied looks like a good knight of Natalie protecting her rep. Every Hollywood princess needs one. And, it sets Portman up to be in line with all of the Lois Lane movie publicity with a Sarah Lane name drop, today, when that movie hits, further down the track. Smart press… believe it or not.

I like Portman’s sense of humor. ‘Scandal!!! I cheated,’ is her big Hollywood tabloid story this week. No sex involved. How funny!

If this story interests you, go here.

FRANCESCO VEZZOLI ART – MICHELLE WILLIAMS AND NATALIE PORTMAN – SATIRICAL COMMERCIAL, GREED

Greed is like a disease. It’s the worst addiction ever. People go to great and extensive lengths to cover up their greed addictions. Revolutions of people, currently occurring are all about rebelling against a few’s greedy habits, over a majority’s better interests. Thankfully, here in Hollywood we have actors and directors and artists, who aren’t afraid to talk about greed. Let’s say the word… GREED. It’s good for us to say it. On that note…

Satire is something Natalie Portman excels at. Fracesco Vezzoli takes the Oscar winner and casts her with Michelle Williams in a satirical TVC, for a fragrance titled Greed, as a talking point for the Museum of Modern Art.

A smart commentary from the art world today. Love it.

Let’s say the word some more – GREED, GREED, GREED, GREED, GREED! It’s so healthy just to write it. When we discuss GREED, we break it’s power over us. I think this is exactly what this video is designed to achieve.

Already Portman is putting her stamp on the America’s Sweetheart role, tackling anti-semitic sentiments and greed three days after her Oscars win. I am totally feeling it. Love this art piece. Hot! Go Vezzoli.

MOTHERHOOD AND WIFE ARE THE GREATEST ROLES, NATALIE PORTMAN’S OSCARS ACCEPTANCE SPEECH 2011

She is plum tassel Jerusalem beauty with deep-purple American eleganceNatalie Portman, Oscars 2011.

OK! Magazine like most tabloids goes to great pains today to showcase, Oscar winner and Jerusalem born artist, Natalie Portman‘s Awards Show acceptance speech. Exquisite, graceful, gracious with no ego. What a Hollywood rarity Ms. Portman is. Here’s Portman in action.

“I want to thank my parents for giving me the opportunity to work from such an early age. My beautiful love, Benjamin, who has now given me my most important role of my life,” she said. “Most importantly, my family, my friends, and my love, thank you so much.”

Family is what Portman does. The rest is well… show biz and art really. A good speech depicting all the elements that make up a Hollywood star in a filmic role. Wow! What a lady.

USA TODAY – AARON SORKIN AND NATALIE PORTMAN SHINE, ANNE HATHAWAY AND JAMES FRANCO’s AUSSIE ROAST, OSCARS 2011

This cool group photo snapped of Oscars winners during the closing ceremony, is pretty groovy.

Natalie Portman looks glowing and elated at her win. Aaron Sorkin shines too. And James Franco continues to look, well… perpetually stoned… an American artform here in California. Thank goodness Anne Hathaway is so ‘on it’ at all times, saving James all throughout the Oscars Awards presenting roles last night.

Love the photo via USA Today. Too funny! Here’s Hathaway in a tuxedo, putting Australians on grill, with James Franco in drag parodying a certain blonde Hollywood icon, while dropping Charlie Sheen‘s name for telephone companies. Crazy American kids!

USA TODAY REPORTS - “Ultimately, it was Black Swan that took center stage in the beachside Spirit tent. A very pregnant Portman carefully climbed stairs to claim her prize, calling the floor “slippery.”

“This is my first time here,” said Portman, in a short yellow dress. After thanking her fellow nominees she called Black Swan a true independent filmmaking experience. “We had a bond company on-set for the last, like 2 months, and it was only a 2 and a half month shoot. My ballet teachers every day were like, ‘Sooo, when do we get paid?’”

“No one believed in (the film) and it took some equity,” Aronofsky said from the stage, claiming his best director prize. He thanked his financial partners who did believe. “Now they’re (expletive) rich.”

He ended, of course, with his Black Swan star. “I’ll always be indebted to Miss Natalie Portman,” he said.

Accepting the best picture award, producer Scott Franklin admitted the film was a challenge. “This was a really hard film to make,” he said. But, he assured, “everybody did get paid, which was a nice thing.”

A good effort from all filmmakers this Hollywood eve on the beach.

OSCARS QUOTE by HALLE BERRY WITH SOME LENA HORNE

When Halle Berry became the first black woman of color to scoop up her leading actress Oscar, she wowed the world with comments like, “This moment is for Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll. It’s for the women that stand beside me, Jada Pinkett, Angela Bassett, Vivica Fox. And it’s for every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened. Thank you. I’m so honored.”–Halle Berry‘s words via American Rhetoric.Com.

This didn’t stop some b*tch in the US from blogging, “LOL what would she do if her dog died !!!”.

As you can see, good history means jack sh*t to some!

Anyway, here’s some Lena Horne music, heading in to a stormy-skied, Natalie Portman‘s Oscar winning weekend. Has a Jerusalem born actress ever won an Oscar before? I don’t think so. It could be a first!
