Proof that Russians can never get enough butter, or lard, is this photo of Russian pastries in Hollywod. Combined with US Shadez of blonde, it’s what soames pearly whites would chomp for breakfast. Not a hardship!
There was a white horse, on a quiet winter morning when snow covered the streets gently and was not deep, and the sky was swept with vibrant stars, except in the east, where dawn was beginning in a light blue flood. The air was motionless, but would soon start to move as the sun came up and winds from Canada came charging down the Hudson…–Mark Helprin.

From a military blueprint to drugs and complete lawlessness – Kowloon City stands out in history as a city popular for extreme reasons.
Kowloon Walled City was once the most densely populated city in the world with a density of 3,300,000 people per square mile. Kowloon was such a lawless maze of alleyways and secret staircases, that police from the outside world would rarely venture in without a sizable group. Originally built as a military base with walls 13 feet high and 15 feet thick an influx of immigrants made regulation and governance impossible by the Chinese authorities, as well as the British administration in Hong Kong. Triad gangs moved into position to rule the hazardous city maze. In the 1950s and 60s drugs, prostitution and gang influence reached a point where Hong Kong police could no longer police the city. When the city was eventually siezed, 4,000 pounds of drugs, or 1/10 of a pound of illegal substances per person was found. From 1987 a six-year eviction process began, where the city was raized to become a peaceful park.
Do city planners of today need to consider ‘addiction clusters’ of population bases needs - when they architecturally plan a city? If so, wouldn’t it be wise to create new trends (eg: create better addictions that become cultural norms) people gravite towards. Leave some suggestions on the blog, if you have a clue as to what winning trends could be for the best cities in the future. Old fashioned ideas that are still goodies are also fine by me.

Jennifer Merin on Freedom Ridersdocumentary returning to PBS, writes:
“As part of its progressive program of documentaries to celebrate Black History Month, PBS is presenting a rerun of Freedom Riders, filmmaker Stanley Nelson‘s brilliant compilation documentary about the extraordinary group of civil rights activists — black and white — who banned together to integrate public transportation in the South during 1961.
Seeing the violence with which they were greeted by Southern racists is a compelling reminder of their heroism and determination, and an important lesson for all who did not witness the events for themselves. In short, this film is a must see — during Black History Month, and any other month — and PBS’s presentation on February 7, 2012 is a great opportunity for viewers to judge for themselves how the Freedom Riders’ actions forwarded the cause of equality in the United States. This is a must-see.
For more documentaries to watch during Black History Month, see Jennifer’s list of recommendations.”
I haven’t yet seen it the first time round. But I want to. Sounds brills!

This is Heather – on the O-Bar’s Godfather-esque silver horse.
‘Hope you’re good today Heather. I am still loving the feather, today’. :)
California Gurls – they’re doing way too much with things pretending to be unicorns. As a Cali girl, Heather is too much fun. She also loves her feathers more than she loves things pretending to be unicorns, like many girls in Young Hollywood at the moment.
You know, if Heather was signed to a record label and the powers-that-be were paying her hansomely, she tells me that she too would ‘believe that [she] was born this way to ride a wannabe unicorn too.’ What does that mean?! Lol!
Heather is doing way too much in her riding boots in this picture. Let’s stick with that.

Born this way – I believe that all children of the world were born to have access to clean drinking water whenever they need it.
BTW: At the moment 1 billion people don’t. 2 million children die through not having access to clean drinking water each year.
Born this way to drink clean water – is these kids and their parents’ dream day. We can make it a dream day everyday for them. Let’s make it happen fun people, by clicking on UNICEF’S TAP PROJECT link. Let’s FLOW! Thanks groovy people.

Good morning. For those of you who keep at it, this one’s for you. Entertainment and celebrity news you’re intrigued by voting hot today. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt with twins at Lee’s Art Shop Manhattan create a furore while shopping for art supplies at night. And does Anderson Cooper and his friend need a tan or what in this pic tweeted by AC. These kids (below) need sunlight.
Royal engagement fuels sapphire frenzy: Minutes after the world first glimpsed the sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring Prince William gave his fiancee Kate Middleton, the same one Princess Diana once wore, phones started ringing madly at a Manhattan jewelry maker.

Rachael Ray made an adorable Jessica Rabbitthis year as she took her popular talk show to the streets of Manhattan.
Always fun, this woman. Popeater described Ray as having a “cartoonishly curvy halloween.” Sounds a little like America’s last fiscal year. But hey, we’re on the up. Nice one Rachel Ray.
