My favorite song of seeing Clarkson sing live is most probably when she sings Wash Rinse Repeat to her US fans. She’s funny!

Daniel Beddingfield the singer, songwriter producer (whose folks were Christian missionaries and whose sister is a much loved pop songwriter artist in the USA, Natasha) is judging the next talent show for the X-Factor reality TV franchise. On ya.
It was about ten years ago, when I met Daniel in Wellington while he was on his crutches. Back then, Daniel was very loud, loved to engage with people, learn new information off locals and travelled with a large entourage. Once upon a time Tom Cruise‘s original Hollywood starmaker, producer David Geffen (Stevie Spielberg‘s main biz partner) discovered a Canadian singer. Her name was Nelly Furtado, a Chola Canook talented songwriter. Novel.
Her debut single would be a big hit in New Zealand for summer one year. The kids all keenly danced to it (adult kids too). Everyone agreed on the eve of New Years back then, that it was a good song.

BOYZ II MEN ROLL INTO NEW ZEALAND TOWN FOR A WELLINGTON VISIT, DECEMBER 2012
So a few lads that have collaborated in the past with New Zealand’s own Keith Urban of country music local fun, jetted into New Zealand today. Woot!
The incomparable Boyz II Men vocalists are on a visit. I saw them many years ago now with Trinity Dodd (a Maori lassie now residing in the Brooke family’s part of the UK). Trinnie was at (world famous in New Zealand) Kristin high school then and Boyz II Men opened for Janet Jackson back in the day.
It was fun watching Trin totally buzz out on BIIM on a school night. She totally got their music years ago. I was more stuck on Janet’s hot brand of “dance wow,” back then. I liked the production values Janet wove together in a big budget show. She incited one’s producer side of the brain as to what can be achieved in entertainment in New Zealand. I realized we need to back our talent more. For me, that’s what I saw.
Anyway, Boyz II Men‘s message to NZ today is that large corporations (they were talking in a music context) often plough through their talent as CEO execs only want to take the money and keep churning stars through. They feel that they have been very lucky to have had a career as long as they have. When you think about it, they never set out to be mega-mainstream. They were always the bros whose blended vocals were always respected in the singing world. They are for real. The group is the USA’s solo artist’s dream guest stars, where good collaboration could be enhanced for variety – with the lads. (more…)

LA TUA SEMPLICITA OPERA – JOSH GROBAN & PALCIDO DOMINGO
Beautiful music is: La Tua Semplicitá, the duet by Josh Groban and Placido Domingo.
It reminds me of the nights I would go to Los Angeles Opera and see Domingo’s handiwork on stage with the California talent he was developing. We have still to build an Opera House in NZ. Or… An Opera Centre that exists solely for the art of Opera to be sung in every day.
How else do talent get better, unless encouraged to sing?
