Late Night Talk Show host, Jimmy Kemmel‘s creative team, served up some of the funniest TV show programming in Hollywood recently.
Watch Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and veteran broadcaster Larry King read fans bloody awful tweets about them.
Too funny. Hate is often flattery inverted. A reminder that anyone in the public eye, is open to more criticism than most. I love this story. Very LA! Where even a “diss” is a compliment –is the rhetoric of Los Angeles.
When I lived in LA, I created a “critique as spinach” section on this blog, just to handle that jealousy – so this story made me smile a lot.
Video source selection: Wendy on TVNZ. Lol! Incidentally, when I worked as a publicist, I used to compete against 2000+ other publicists to get the stars I represented onto Jimmy’s show. I have never worked in a more competitive environment in my life, yet that was LA daily reality. The stars that appeared on the talk show set, loved Jimmy. Back then he was kind of the ‘Mr Cool.’ Jimmy Fallon is sorta wearing that hat now, of the Mr Cool late night talk interviewer, when landing younger stars on a talk show. Fallon has that funny SNL fame history attached to him, that American kids love. Kemmel’s more like a Jay Leno vet now. In another league of ‘just good now.’ Watch clip. So funny! :)

Born this way – I believe that all children of the world were born to have access to clean drinking water whenever they need it.
BTW: At the moment 1 billion people don’t. 2 million children die through not having access to clean drinking water each year.
Born this way to drink clean water – is these kids and their parents’ dream day. We can make it a dream day everyday for them. Let’s make it happen fun people, by clicking on UNICEF’S TAP PROJECT link. Let’s FLOW! Thanks groovy people.

The wheels of Hollywood always spin. They are not dependent on any one person or studio to keep churning. Politics are the same as is biz and health circles in the US too. The wheels spin. Here’s some celebrity news, entertainment news and other newsy items occurring in the world at this moment as George Clooney replaces Robert Downey Jr. in the astronaut themed film Gravity starring Sandra Bullock.
Is Google getting too big? Steven Pearlstein, a Washington Post biz columnist would say heck yes! He thinks the government should start reviewing every one of the company’s acquisitions on antitrust grounds. Google has a cash hoard of $33 billion, a market cap of $189 billion, and a money-minting search franchise as the search engine company continues to go “Boom.”
Some news links today are:
Would you see Don Cheadle star as Miles Davis in a biopic? Yes!
She’s like Mel Gibson. People love her and hate her. Two views on the rather racist Sarah Palin. Her book cover and Barbara Bush‘s thoughts on her (again).

Talking to Larry King, Samantha Geimer – the women who was raped by filmmaker Roman Polanski at aged 13 had these things to say:
Geimer is: a) not forgiving of him. b) thinks Polanski has served his time. c) thinks she’s been more damaged by the court system and the media than what Polanski did to her at 13.
Three different perspectives presented in a simple answer. A wise lady. Video clip at this link. R.A.I.N.N is also an organisation that helps American teens who have and are being raped. Adults too. Click on their logo above, to see what they’re about if interested. Chirstina Ricci is their spokesperson.

Lance Bance demonstrates the art of ‘Imma big gay star.’
A star, leads in a direction, to save lives, in a way that incites all people to act on behalf of other people to save lives too.
Gay teenagers need a helping hand in the wake of suicides last week. Advocacy for all teens is important, in this economy especially. Basic human rights. We forget that when we go to war, we bully other people, for a purpose and a cause. How bullying also manifests itself within cultures, also costs lives too.
Lance is always at Basix Cafe, West Hollywood when in LA, with three dogs (literally) on weekends. This is good stuff from Lance this week. He’s the guy who once was in training to do space travel. Too fun. What happened to that? :)
“Larry King Live last night saw former *NSYNC boyband member Lance Bass stand alongside Kathy Griffin, Tim Gunn, and the very funny, Wanda Sykes to talk about factors that accelerate the very serious topic of teen suicides. Gay bulling being one.
Lance was a shock jock on the show, by admitting that as a teen, he also bullied other gay students to fit in. Says Lance: “When you’re 13, 14, you just go along with what the other people are doing. You just want to fit in. You want to make sure that your friends like you. So yeah, you’re going to crack jokes, you’re going to laugh along with it. And when you’re a teenager, you’re not really thinking, ‘Oh, I’m being a bully by laughing along with it.’” You can watch Lance and peers on the issue here. America is so ‘high school’ this week – in order to make a difference for youth.
This interview is vital for America’s young. How do we all need to change in order to make bullying stop. Especially for gay teens. For teens who are not gay, when political leaders (worldwide) locked up an economy, reducing opportunities for youth, this is also bullying. All teens are being bullied. This video applies to all teens issues, representing much wider issues of bullying, as well as for the gay community. If you’re a teen, and/or about to enter the job market, you’re instantly a threat. In this economy – nobody is safe. Economics as well as gay issues too, need to be discussed in more depth with answers for youth.
To put a gay band aid on the teen suicide issue, is cute, but if anything, why not produce a panel of gay economists for example, wouldn’t that be more helpful to gay and all teens in these times too?
Every now and again I like to do an Atheist star story, just because I’m not one, and I find many atheists to be decent people and always darn funny–for offering a different perspective, worthy of good debate and entertainment too.
Why do we do what we do? is always a good question to discuss amongst friends. Why do we think, what we think? is another good one also. Atheists always help me, think about this with the interesting questions or case studies they present to discuss. Or not.
Here’s the latest atheist news update. In an age obsessed with ‘how we do’ about everything. The ‘why’ people are needed too.
Bill Maher recieved the 2,417th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Tuesday. Seth MacFarlane and Larry King kept Bill company.
Adding his own unique take on Hollywood’s star system and honor code, Bill is quoted as saying: “I always thought the Walk of Fame publicity was cheap and whoring, but this is long overdue publicity whoring.”
What a hoot! Always funny. His humor, a real gift.
And I suppose what’s on Glenn Beck, John Stuart, Rachel Maddow, Joy Behar, Charlie Rose et als minds today is: Has Larry King picked his successor?
Congratulations Mr Maher.

“True piety does not consist in turning your faces towards the east or the west — but truly pious is he who believes in God, and the Last Day; and the angels, and revelation, and the prophets; and spends his substance — however much he himself may cherish — it — upon his near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and the beggars, and for the freeing of human beings from bondage; and is constant in prayer, and renders the purifying dues; and [truly pious are] they who keep their promises whenever they promise, and are patient in misfortune and hardship and in time of peril: it is they that have proved themselves true, and it is they, they who are conscious of God. (2:177 [Asad])
In a sense this beautiful verse is its own commentary, and for a Muslim these exhortations are among the most familiar commandments in their religious life. It is one of those verses where several strands of the Quran’s teachings interlace. Each phrase, taken alone, repeats an idea that is found throughout Islam’s sacred text, and taken together they form a kind of summary of the teachings of Islam.
It is from passages such as this one that Muslims find their main articles of faith: belief in the one God, the Day of Judgment and the Hereafter, the existence of the angels, revelation in the form of sacred books, and the messengers and prophets who have borne that revelation to humanity from Adam until the Prophet Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon them all.
Ramadan is the holiest month of the Islamic year. We observe it this year against a backdrop of intensifying global human suffering, caused by economic hardship, human rights abuses, military conflict and terrorism, and the rapidly multiplying disastrous consequences of climate change. Muslims have an opportunity to use the days of this month as God intended: to reflect on our own humanity and our collective duty towards our fellow human beings. True religion isn’t built of the manifestations of piety through prayer — turning faces towards the east or west — but requires good deeds and action that manifest and express the essential values of our faith.
Unwavering faith is the foremost pillar of a Muslim’s religion. While Muslims will refrain from drink and food from sunup till sundown for a whole month and will attend prayers at mosques around the world, God’s judgment will rely heavily on their ability to share their fortune, look after their relatives, the orphans, the poor, travelers and beggars and ensure freedoms for “human beings in bondage.” Philanthropy in the financial sense will not be the only measure, either, but also generosity of spirit in the face of hardship.
This dedication and sensitivity to the welfare of other human beings — which, as we see from this verse, is required by God of humans as testament to their faith — inspired the life of my late husband King Hussein of Jordan, who for almost five decades tirelessly pursued human security and social equity not only for Jordanians but all Arabs, Muslims and others around the world. This objective has now become the mission of the King Hussein Foundation, founded in his memory in 1999 to give enduring life to his humanitarian vision and legacy.
Islam is believed by Muslims to be the last of the monotheistic religions with messages not only for its own followers and those of the Abrahamic faiths but also for all humanity. And while this verse clearly reminds Muslims of their priorities ahead in the holy month of Ramadan, I believe that these priorities apply to all individuals pursuing peaceful coexistence, social equity, the protection of human rights and the ethics and values essential to a healthy, cohesive society. My hope is that we all find ways to contribute to the peace and security of our communities and larger world by reaching out to those in need and building bridges of understanding based on our common values.
Ramadan Kareem to you all.

~In these times, more often than not, I’d rather trust an artist than a politician to paint me a picture of what the future could look like. Ideally a politician who can paint, would rock. Of course I would say that in L.A as this city is built on artists and filmmakers cinematic vision. Currently, artists hold the keys to the city’s future–the world’s too, if we believe. We often undervalue the role of writers in society. Especially the ones right next to us. They are architects of new vision, written down, becoming flesh, giving a city life for the present and future. Because writers are some of the bravest people I know, I will always support their dreams written down for their audiences. Up!~
Each day, I am fortunate to work with two such writers in Beverly Hills. Both are architects in a way possessing the written word, consisting of new thoughts with a ‘panoramic view’ for the future. They are as intensely quiet when writing as they are quick witted, competitive and funny. Good guys.
I am reminded of the words of songstress, Natasha Bedingfield, “the future is still unwritten,” as I look at the local Beverly Hills rag. This story excites me. Let’s go writers!
Reports the Beverly Hills Courier this week: Natasha Bedingfield To Headline 9.02.10 Day. (by Brenton Garen).
Multi-award winning artist and Grammy nominee Natasha Bedingfield, has been signed to perform at the 9.02.10 Festival in Beverly Hills.
Since Bedingfield released her massive debut album, Unwritten, in the U.S back in 2006 she has sold more than 10 million singles and albums worldwide.
Her single, Unwritten, became the most played track at pop radio in 2006, was the first #1 pop single in the U.S by a British female solo artist in 19 years and garnered the singer-songwriter her first Grammy nomination.”
Wow!

After 40,000 sit down interviews for CNN and 25 years in the hot seat, Larry King, 74, has announced that he’s quitting his show and will do quarterly specials on the channel instead.
Around the world, Larry will be sorely missed. Congrats Mr King on a stellar career.

Lady Gaga demonstrates the art of mimicry (the Gaga way) as she wears suspenders/ a tie too–while Larry King interviews her on Larry King Live for CNN.
Fake blonde hair (mimicing Madonna who mimmiced Marilyn Monroe). Red lips. John Lennon glasses. The British Queen’s cup of tea in bone china tea cup. And mimicking/ reflecting back whose interviewing you — will get you everywhere. This is the art of Gaga, when she’s not on a music stage singing.
Watch her here. If you must.

After filing for divorce last week with allegations that Larry King was swinging with Shawn’s sister, it appears that this Los Angeles couple may not be getting the big D word after all.
According to People Magazine–the biggest tabloid weekly in America, after TV Guide “King and Southwick are considering the best interests of their children.”
This is such a Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren comedy/ parody show, that it is ridiculous. And amusing enough to run today as “news.”
Larry’s going all out to lift his CNN ratings that have flagged by 50% over the last year. So, as you’ve always gotta love a boxer and fighter, go Larry King. Growing up in New Zealand, we have always loved Larry Kings interviews. He pops! And look at these two crazy kids today. Too adorable! With crazy antics like this, they belong together.
Let me just remind you that Shawn’s father was the legendary music producer who gave America and the world, The Beach Boys music and records. And Larry King does news. So… “News Beach” has a nice ring to it always. And being a blogger in California, waves of entertaining news is what we do, all year round in the City of Angels… so I’m all for Shawn and Larry sticking together and creating the magic from LA, as they’ve always done as a couple. Go kids!

It’s official, American’s don’t want real news stories. Especially not on CNN. Even America’s silver fox, Anderson Cooper with his impeccable American ‘old-school’ social lineage, and his penchant for saving earthquake victims in Haiti from harm’s way (moving from reporting from a news desk to becoming news), cannot save CNN’s news ratings. What a sad day for CNN.
Even veteran news great Larry King is suffering in ratings at the hands of newcombers Rachel Maddow and Jewish-Princess from The View Joy Behar. Reports New York Times :
“Mr. King’s audience dropped 43 percent for the quarter and 52 percent in March. He dropped to 771,000 viewers for the quarter from 1.34 million in 2009. More alarming perhaps, Mr. King, whose show has been regularly eclipsed by Rachel Maddow’s on MSNBC (and is almost quadrupled by Sean Hannity’s show on Fox), is now threatened by a new host, Joy Behar on HLN (formerly Headline News.)”
