Apparently Scotland has a lot of Andrew Murrays. Here’s a story:
Andrew Murray a Scottish GP is addicted to running. From Aberdeen, yet practicing medicine in Edinburgh in between jogging, Andrew just can’t get enough of the marathan action. He is set to run seven ultra marathons on seven continents in seven days.
His challenge will take him to Antarctica, Patagonia, Atlanta, London, Egypt, Dubai and Australia.
He’s chirpy. Up in spirit. Yet ironically his jetlag schedule is not healthy at all or good for the tinana either. Quite an effort of energy dude’s gonna expend. Unusual.

Good to see Aussies doing well as entertainers in the USA.
Chris‘ latest news:
CASTING TALENT AGENCY & AGENT SHAKE UPS: Nikki Finke‘s Hollywood website writes: “Chris Hemsworth is proving to be a go-to young guy for big ticket Hollywood fare. Particularly after Marvel’s Thor and The Avengers and also Universal’s Snow White And The Huntsman.
Chris is starring in Thor 2 and will lead DreamWorks/Fox’s Steven Spielberg-directed Robopocalypse and receive $10 million from CBS Films to play a terrorist hunter in American Assassin. So which agency will represent Hollywood’s hottest new action hunk is big news. I can now tell you it is CAA with Jack Wigham and Bryan Lourd.”
ON LOCATION IN ICELAND: Chris has landed in Iceland to film the Thor sequel movie. Scenes for the sequel, Thor: The Dark World will use Iceland’s stunning backdrops to add the film’s ancient Nordic world feel.
Iceland Review notes how up to 300 people will come from the U.S. to work on the shooting in addition to the almost 200 Icelanders who will also be involved in the project. The film crew is serviced by Icelandic film production company True North. It is the most significant film project to ever happen in Iceland so far.
Sounds good. So busy.

Today I was watching Syliva Earle, a gem of an American who resembles Nancy Reagan, speaking Ocean-side with Ngai Tahu’s Mark Solomon in Rarotonga on how, 70% of the world’s oxygen is produced by the Ocean. When Syliva spoke, she breathed life into my heart.
Speaking of hearts, child poverty is at an all time high in Western nations of the world (New Zealand’s included). We’re at risk of losing a conscience, or we are becoming less stout hearted as a people. A greedy disease has set in that needs to be flushed out of our thinking, especially concerning our children. Most at risk are Maori and Pacific Island children citizens of New Zealand. When it comes to sports, they are some of our best athletes, so I wonder what will happen to the sporting mix of NZ’s future if these children are being deliberately starved by politicians acting for racist white greedy people (pretty much). Are their hearts being strengthened enough each day? Body, soul, spirit?
I flick over to sports coaching now, turning to a crazy American fitness kid, in the form of Nicole McClain, (more…)
“Child Obesity”–reckons Chante Betham-Spencer & rugby league’s Monty Betham.

Sports Gear & Mobile Telephony TVC Ads Spotlight Teens.
Colleen Curry and ABC’s Mr Clayton bring a story of a slightly chubby athlete, Nathan Sorrell as a part of Nike getting real about who actually buys their sports products in the USA & Canada. Us fat people do. So, I like the story. As in New Zealand, being fat and happy, is who we are – when we aren’t totally honing it down as world winning atheltes. So, my inner, totally closeted fat person got a boost out of seeing Nathan shine today. Fun kid model selection from Nike.
Incidentally Canada’s population alone is 60% into obesity statistics so Nathan is more of a star of the world, then most of us would admit. He’s jogging the road to health recovery one mile at a time. Go kid!
The story goes: “The star of Nike‘s latest Olympics ads has created his own Olympic-sized challenge. Nathan Sorrell of London, Ohio, the 12-year-old, 200-pound star of the “Find Your Greatness” ad recently launched by the sports company, said he has taken the ad as inspiration and will find his own greatness by getting in shape. Sorrell was chosen to participate in the ads by Nike after they put out a casting call for a “specific type” of student, and Sorrell fit the bill, according to ABC News’ Columbus, Ohio, affiliate, WSYX.”
And in telecommunications Olympics sports: Austin Wierschhke is teen king of the world’s fastest texting abilities. The story goes:
“The Olympics aren’t the only games going on right now — the best and brightest in the texting world squared off in Times Square Wednesday for a grueling contest to find the fastest texter in America.
Eleven highly trained texters from across the U.S. competed in a series of challenges for speed, accuracy and dexterity.
Austin Wierschke, 17, nabbed the top prize and was named the champion of the sixth annual U.S. LG National Texting Competition.” The story appealed to NPR news too.
So for us fatties with a closeted skinny athete within and us closeted fat people, waiting to pop out fatter - who all dig sport… faster texting and going for a jog – are Austin-Nathan’s message from TVC competitions land, for leading billionaire companies products sales.

True Confessions: I swear that most days, I’m really a fattie, all closeted and shy on the inside waiting to pop out.
In fact, the more I watch Olympic atheletes do their gig at the games, the more my inner fat person wants to shine. Go figure!
I’ve just finished three donuts with real cream and lashings of raspberry jam for lite brunch, as a reminder to that fact. It’s a Kiwi thing!
So, perhaps that’s why I loved this story on Te Karere News about Ngaroimata Reid. You see, Ngaroimata Reid has been waiting for five years to be accepted to run in the New York Marathon and now her goal will be achieved.
The impetus for Ngaroimata to participate in this famous marathon, came from the trials she’s recently been through. With the guidance of a team of coaches, young Ngaroimata is on track to achieve her goal of New York running. Her spirit of get up and go, reminds us that it is never too late to run a marathon as a healthy non-skinny, fun-loving and motivated person.
Love the story.

One of the meanest sports out is hip hop dance crews. It should be an Olympics sports. To train for the event, these young people have to be honed athletes as the rehearsals are both grueling and vigorous. As hip hop is the no.1 selling music on the planet, I love what these Kiwi kids are doing in this news rheel footage.
They’re on it.
My own nephew Jordan and his dance crew have been champions of this disciplined team sport in Australasia. When I was young, I was a national champ with a dance crew from Northland New Zealand in a national competition in Wellington.
When you get older, it’s heartening to see young people in New Zealand who know how to get down and dance.
We are a nation of some of the world’s best dancers too. The Maipi whanau of Huntly are the latest and the greatestst here in New Zealand to bust the art of cool on the D-Floor of Te Ao (the world’s stage). Check out their hot skills of the dance in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Clever. Disciplined. Relentless, high energy amazing.
Te Karere News has the scoop from the Hip Hop World Champs in Nevada. [With thanks to TVNZ film crews and journos].

Hot in sports is Maobo Originals sports star, Timana James Aporo Tahu with his hat trick of tries in the league.
Strength with speed. He’s the one that got away, across the line, thrice.
ABC put it this way: Timana Tahu rolled back the years on Monday with a hat-trick of tries to help Newcastle Knights end a run of five straight defeats with an upset 38-20 win over Wests Tigers at Hunter Stadium.
Check him, here. Winner!

Kiwi athletes turned on a show of athleticism in Austria this morning at the ITU World Triathlon Series. In the women’s event, Andrea Hewitt, came in third behind Nicola Spirig (SUI) and Lisa Norden (SWE).
“I’m happy I had a good race and now have over a month to fine tune everything and prepare for the Olympics,” Hewitt said in top form with a 2:05:43 time.
Barbara Riveros Diaz (CHI) came in 4th. And New Zealand’s Nicky Samuels gained sixth place and Kate McIlroy eighth.
More at the epic come back.

She’s in fine fitness form and the no.1 voted American citizen on this blog for 2012.
The cheeky biker boots can’t hide the fact that she’s the sveltest red carpet star, Hollywood currently has in this fast-moving, always surreal, Tinsel Town minute.
But if Miley Cyrus gets any thinner… we’ll have to send Smilers a box of New Zealand cheeses… while farmers still own them in NZ. That might be a good idea… before the teenager’s much anticipated star-studded wedding.
Smilers is definitely ready to start taking action movie roles on in Hollywood, if she wanted to grow a film franchise.

Alexis Pritchard and Siona Fernandes are the first Kiwi women to represent New Zealand in the women’s boxing at the Olympic Games 2012 in London.
I am an early fan of Siona. She does all of that ethnic dancing stuff as an artform, that could rival any Bollywood styled action movie. Siona is tres smart. Says things like “thank you for having us,” when she leaves a TV studio’s couch after an interview promoting the sport.
Her parents can’t believe she’s representing New Zealand in a sport “so brutal.” To learn more about Alexis and Siona’s Olympic Games road, click on their pic, to put ‘em up. Look at those healthy smiles! :)
