AT THE COUNTY FAIR WITH MOM
hitting up the fair today… a farming community having fun.
how it was: up at the fair, the young farmers club regional contest is on.
craig williamson from methven-ashburton way is the sponsoring bank’s m.c. as the farmer contestants compete in a constructed obstacle course.
it’s nothing flash: eggs, giant cream trifle squares in plastic containers, forestry, utes, pruning pine trees then felling pine trees to fall on a black balloon, loading quad bike trailers with green fence posts, looking for electronic tags in hay bales, solving concrete blocks puzzles, strainer posts fencing games are what the farmers do over an interesting rural soundtrack barrage of coded farming commentary: it’s all a bit potty, laden with otago gold dig & s-land slap stick comical references to help our farmers out. all done in heavy-undertoned rural humour (heavier than previous years of farming scene observes, i might add) with a serious business face to boot, for sure. the mc truly clever in their craft.
c-bury is in a land so far away to these farmer’s community’s realities, in local terms i question its strong presence at the event’s location. it does recognise diversity of region in nz perhaps, to entertain a group of particular farmers. in farming banter terms souther-exotic even. they’re good sports, they don’t react to the invasion of their consciousness at a cultural-community regionally-proud ag-level in their own right.
the amusing mood? farmers kindergarten-activities for grown ups – meets lots of enthusiastic support. a good crowd to be in. it is harmless fun in the sun. (more…)
NEW ZEALAND DAY, WAITANGI DAY 2013
Although the spirit of Waitangi Day lies in honoring Maori inclusion as equal business partners with The Crown each day, Waitangi Day celebrations are “to give us a full sense of nationhood” du jour in agreement for all that New Zealanders as a team are trying to achieve.
To stay in agreement with the principles of Waitangi’s foundational spirit (to see others different to ourselves as equals) is the benchmark of respect in New Zealand that our founding fathers and mothers hoped for, when they as intelligent and adventurous people inked a deal to uphold justice – in the concept of communities evolving and being strong trading partners working together for the good of Aotearoa, NZ.
Prime Minister John Key said, he believed Waitangi Day was a valuable opportunity for discussion and stood by his commitment.
“How will history judge [us]? History will judge [us as New Zealanders] well because [we] come back year after year.”
He also urged the iwi [Ngapuhi] involved in the Te Hiku collective to sort out their differences and move toward a settlement, saying it would inject as much as $200 million into an area that greatly needed it.
Ngapuhi has over 20% of the Maori population. Ironically, the tribe is one of the last to settle with The Crown. So, a timely speech from the PM to Ngapuhi.

A-Z REGIONAL + COMMUNITY PLANNING MEETING
I have a meeting coming up. The meeting is supposed to be about how maori can start business.
The logic of the meeting is that many folks in some communities feel abandoned, isolated, forgotten. They want to be vital participators more.
i don’t know what to think of the meeting.
inital jottings: “without a vision, people die.”–king solomon. “if you have a vision, you’ll write it down.”–the scribe, habakkuk said. “then all who read it, can run with it,” he wrote.
an a-z guiding template is needed.
so, it’s time to create, mind map, brain storm etc.
a: arriving at the idea. what is the idea?
b: “behold and be.” ask, what do you see the idea as in a tangible form, being?
etc.
…. and so we could go on to z. (more…)
LAUGHTER FOR ALL – DAVID SHEARER ON STAND UP FOR & LAUGH IN COMMUNITY
“New Zealanders don’t want standup comedy – they want somebody to stand up for them.”
–David Shearer.
um. we want both.
lots of laughter is normal.
it is a peoples’ strength in battle (the invisible economic war, designed to strip the best assests from a people entire, for a very few).
the thing is, nz needs stand-up comedy that most of nz laughs at. (more…)

NOUVEAU’S INNOVATIVE COMMUNITY SPIRIT
David loved visiting Nouveau. As a nation, it had grown [it's] own momentum when regions and city councils mined their own resources. The resources they mined and developed as sustainably as able. An incredibly resourceful people. They then spun the momentum into the future their own residents in the regions wanted. When you visisted Nouveau, each town and city had its own vibrancy. Eclectic cities. People were happy. (more…)

WOWO’S TANGI AT TITOKI – SAY NO TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
It’s a very sad time for a New Zealand family. Patricia McGrath known as Wowo‘s tangi (a funeral) at Titoki, reminds us of why violence* in homes and domestic violence hurts communities, families and lives. Domestic violence always has tragic effects. Many lives have been healed and have recovered from it in a journey of recovery. For Wowo, sadly New Zealand lost a daughter, mother future grandma as a result of domestic violence.
Say no to domestic violence is the family’s message as NZ speaks. (more…)
iSTOCK STOCK MARKET SHARKS – TIPS FOR YOUTH TO JOIN IN THE STOCK MARKET 2013
In nations that pay people wages of US$36k or less (NZ is one of those nations)… if young people want to get ahead… they need to do what the old rich folks are doing.
Or you can make gains on the stock market. Yet it can be risky terrain. The older sharks have the tip offs, often long before the younger sharks do, so shark chomping is the game.
Yet for some young people… the markets of NZ are seen as okay to invest in for a start. Milford Asset Management writes an article to entice, incite, encourage young investors to ‘give it a go.’ Here’s those thoughts.
*You should always have a diversified share portfolio.
*The stock market isn’t a gamble as long as you pick good companies that will do well over the longer term.
*Good companies usually increase their dividends every year.
*You have to research a company before you invest. (more…)
ECONOMIC ABUSE
The worst kind of violence is economic abuse. Greed has led to an increase of violence of all kinds in the world. Economists, bankers must answer for their invisible passive agressive violence of setting a culture of greedy economic-musters and unparallelled acquistions… to answer the rising trend of violence’s effects in the lives of people in real communities.

Most interesting New Zealand “young adults” themed person (if going by search requests) is “Jaime Ridge blonde.”
Let’s go with the JaiRiTweet of the reality TV star, Kiwi teen, showing her community conscious side.
So cute. (Not that blonde on twitter this week).
I like this photo as it has to be about children more in New Zealand and their young families moving forward.

Tautoko in the NZ community: In the space of thirty minutes twenty Maori young adults came up to me while partying at New Years on a quiet beer, and said:
