PRINCE HARRY WINDSOR 33RD MOST VOTED STAR 2012

He is the lovable larrikin of the British Royals (well… one of them)… Prince Harry Windsor is the 33rd most voted star of 2012.

The post you most liked of the Prince this year was this one.

PRINCE CHARLES & CAMILLA VISIT PNG

“I first came to Papua New Guinea almost 50 years ago, which worried me greatly… I’d say there are an awful lot of people, for instance in Australia, have no idea I went to school here in 1966 – such are the things one has to suffer when you get older… Looking at the list of people that I was going to meet when I came to PNG, quite a large proportion of ministers in the government here were only about one or two years old when I came here in 1966… The welcome we received was so wonderfully warm and friendly and special that I promise you we shall leave here tomorrow with immense regret, but also with the shouts of welcome ringing in our ears.”

A PINT AT SAINT JAMES PALACE – PRINCE CHARLES GETS HIS BEER CHUG ON

True facts: 172 years ago his great grandma signed a Treaty to recognise Maori as equal partners of the early British settlers from England (and all settlers from elsewhere in the world) to New Zealand.

The original document would form a constitution, that still needs a lot of work to recognize the clarity of what the spirit of the original document signifies. (That’s an entire library of copious books of flat lying excuses to go over… so let’s just not in this post).

Today, he is drinking a beer at Saint James Palace.

Good fun.

As far back as I have TV memories, Prince Charles and his family have always been in them. They gave us happy memories as people, born into a gold fish bowl. A weird existence that we all voyeured on mercilessly without ever saying thanks. (more…)

SOLOMON ISLANDS 16th SEPTEMBER 2012 – WILL & KATE’S VISIT

Will and Kate arrive in the Solomon Islands.–Photos Ariana Huffington. Nice pics of the young Royals.

This morning’s news coverage in New Zealand goes with a BBC feed. Like a Hollywood film script, Kate is positioned as ‘overcoming the odds’ while on vacation. Very funny. Barbara Dreaver, NZ’s foreign correspondent is also in the Solomons for Will and Kate’s visit. So far Dreaver’s coverage has focused on the Solomon Islanders themselves and capturing their reactions to the young Royal’s visit. I like her angle, capturing the local’s buzz. As yet the BBC, haven’t found that common ground tone with the Islanders in their news stories. A shame, as it would open up the Solomon’s people more to the UK audiences if the BBC could cover what Will and Kate are experiencing themselves in the beautiful Solomons.

BRITISH ROYAL SENNA KOWHAI LEWIS NEWS – FAMILY TREE IS BRANCHING OUT

Senna Kowhai‘s Maori side of the young British Royals whanau (family) tree, is branching out.

Senna’s father is Gary Lewis of Gisborne, East Coast New Zealand. His wife, the lovely Lady Davina have named their young son who was born on May 25th 2012, Tane Mahuta.  It is a solid Maori name drawn from ancient Maori mythological culture and legend of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Baby Tane Mahuta is also brother to Ari Lewis, Gary’s son from a previous marriage and as mentioned Senna, now 2. Gary is from a Kiwi shearer family and he has a building company management background. Lady Davina… her family… is pretty famous. :)

The youngest Lewis is twenty-sixth in line to the British throne.

A cute story fusing local and British heritage.

New Zealand Woman’s Weekly specialize in Royal news in New Zealand. Read up at the tabloid’s website.

About the young Royal’s name in Maori mythology: As legend told, “Tāne is the son of Ranginui the sky father and Papatuanuku, the earth mother.

Tāne separates his parents from their marital embrace until his father the sky is high above mother earth. Tāne then sets about clothing his mother with vegetation. The birds and the trees of the forest are regarded as Tāne’s children.”

It’s a story that reminds us of how the living elements of the environment are one family connected between earth and sky in relationship.

PRINCE PHILIP WILL MISS PARALYMPICS OPENING

Press Release: SkyNews: “The Duke of Edinburgh will not attend the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games on August 29, Buckingham Palace has said.

A statement said that the Duke would not go to the event next week following his recent hospital stay due to a recurrence of a bladder infection.

Prince Philip Mountbatten was due to accompany the Queen on Wednesday when she officially opens the ceremony.

The statement added: “His Royal Highness continues to recover well from his recent infection and will remain at Balmoral.”

The 91-year-old Duke was discharged from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary earlier this week after five nights in hospital. He then rejoined the Queen on her summer break at Balmoral in Scotland.

Prince Philip was in good spirits when he left hospital and told staff he was heading home to enjoy the rest of his holiday.

He was treated for the illness that also affected him in June when he was admitted to hospital after braving cold, wet and windy conditions on the royal barge for several hours during the Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames.

This also forced the Duke to miss some of the major events taking place for the Jubilee celebrations.

At that time he had recently recovered from a successful procedure to clear a blocked coronary artery last December, spending four nights in hospital over Christmas.

A Palace spokesman said that the Princess Royal and the Earl and Countess of Wessex would accompany the Queen at the opening of the Paralympic Games next week.

More names of other Royals who will be going will be released in due course, he added.

News of Prince Philip came as the Paralympic cauldron was lit in London and the torch relay began.”

ENDS.

Wishing Prince Philip a complete recovery and a good holiday ahead.

PRINCE WILLIAM DESCRIBES HIS GRANDMA AS “INCREDIBLE ROLE MODEL”

Prince William says his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II is an “incredible role model.”

Britain’s future King remarked these words paying tribute to the Queen in her 60th years in public service.

The Daily Mail reported: “The Duke praised the Queen for her “selflessness and duty”. He said: “I   remember the Queen’s words as she addressed us from the tremendous parade ground at Sandhurst: “You must be courageous yet selfless, leaders yet carers, confident yet considerate.” These qualities of selflessness and duty are values that the Queen has continuously demonstrated over the last 60 years and are qualities that remain very important to me.””

JULIA GILLARD, 16th MOST VOTED STAR 2011

She came to my attention while living in Hollywood. Who was this redheaded Welsh-born girl with a thick Aussie Union lobby girl’s ocker accent? I do believe that this non-Australian born immigrant rose to the Aussie throne (a privilege that America does not, yet, allow). So, Gillard from the outset was walking on a carpet of Australian peoples good graces, afforded her. Let’s see what she’s achieved then as Australia’s wild card, so far.

A coup against her then leader, Mr Rudd, helped her become Australian Prime Minister. He was moved instantly to foreign affairs.

Her red hair I liked. A little bit Nicole Kidman and Christina Hendricks of Mad Men colorful. Since Julia’s come on board, we don’t see much of Nicole, and Nicole doesn’t make our top 50 list of stars this year either, as she did last year. Julia’s taken her spot. Good for her.

Ms. Gillard also had the nerve to travel to New Zealand on political business with the CEO of WestPac bank at her side being photographed in Parnell. What did a private bank have to do with Australia-NZ politics and an official business visit, I wondered?

Aren’t private banks and The State separate? You don’t want to mix business with personal portfolios pleasure, ever. Quite frankly, it’s the guillotine next, via France, if you do. But at least this picture she gave New Zealand on her arrival in Parnell was honest.

Then came the Wikileaks scandal, where Julia dovetailed with Wikileaks CEO Julian Assange news. “I didn’t know about it” was her repeated cry (quite possibly true, Gillard may not have)–yet this one incident propelled Gillard into a global spotlight. When you think of Wikileaks overall, “political gossip” (an extremely French artform as been observed in recent months) was the weapon via the USA, that did help shake things up a bit with all the revolutions that followed in the Arab world. Just saying! Needless to say, to clear away the cobwebs concerning all world leaders and the views that some countries held of others – did help Hillary Clinton’s job as non-Australian US Secretary of State no end. Clinton could then start afresh with all of the skeletons blasted out in the open. Of course, Julian’s wikileaks scandals had nothing to do with either Hillary or Julia. An American military personnel was responsible for that.

Then the Obama invite to Washington helped Julia out of sight as well. America suddenly started to think Australia beyond Nicole, Russell, Tom and Hugh Jackman. It was a new horizon of lusty-eyed exotic South Pacific beaches for the American people via Gillard’s presence in Washington where she received a standing ovation. And of course, opening Australia’s mining industry up, has ensured she’s everyone’s favorite Australian outside of Australia. It’s ironic that Gillard found herself in a uranium squabble between India and China and had to answer to the Australian people about issues of supply and demand fairness. “It’s not fair, if China gets it all, and India doesn’t.”

In that she is quite correct.

My sister likes Julia a lot. When I asked her why, she says “It’s good to see a confident woman leading.” Can’t argue with that! Although a survey of Australian men insists Julia’s chemistry with them is not entirely their cup of tea. Poor Julia, you just can’t win at home, although she’s a global star abroad.

I thought she rocked when she turned up in Christchurch to hear Hayley Westernra sing for the quake shattered city. She showed Trans-Tasman compassion by attending.

One thing I do question Gillard about, is allowing US troops into Darwin. Until America reduces it’s average oil consumption per person out of any other people group in the world, is this really wise? (That was my attempt at a bad joke, to help sustain the South Pacific longer!) The excuse given by the Obama administration for wanting US marines based in Darwin is “to block China’s influence in the South Pacific.” That is a totally xenophobic answer from the USA. A pitiful excuse. And we do not do xenophobia lightly in New Zealand. Our cheese export industry (to name just one example) was greatly helped by early Chinese migrants in New Zealand (long before Julia’s parents left Wales for Australia’s red soil) so none of us were buying that lame excuse from Obama, at all!

Early Chinese migrants gifted New Zealand a great contribution on their arrival. So, we have to stick up for them. For early Chinese migrants to Australia, Gillard perhaps should too.To quote Abe Lincoln, we believe “all men are created equal,” including  the Chinese, even in NZ.

For Obama to forget Lincoln’s legacy to the American people (with a “blocking China” quip) goes against his founding father’s wisdom, the very legacy of why Obama even came to be afforded opportunity to lead (one of my most favorite memories of the US, was being there to see this happen a few years back). So, again that was not cool in the South Pacific to see Mr Obama say this via Australia. Keep those blind-side attitudes in America, please. In picking a ‘common enemy’ in order to justify keynesia economies ‘growth’ models using war as a tool – why must the Chinese be vicitimized.

However, Gillard still thought this was an okay reason to allow this to happen – with the excuse given. An appearance at Will and Kate’s wedding also introduced Gillard to the Lloyd’s of London fans of the UK. That always gets you noticed in Wall Street as well amongst The Fed clan.

In New Zealand, I have footage of Gillard on this website saying “I represent the origins of the Celtic peoples in the world.” I wanted her to say something stronger about representing the interests of Indigenous Australians and providing some form of redress with all of Australia’s mineral resources acquisition, however so far, Gillard is still firmly rooted in Wales in her thinking, and is still working on that one. That is long overdue in Australia.

She raises really good Maori sports stars in Australian sporting academies. Thanks for that!

You voted Ms. Gillard No. 16 this year. Wow! Although Gillard is not my Prime Minister and New Zealand is proudly a separate country to Australia with our own Indigenous Culture and wider culture we love and are proud of here…

Congratulations. :)

Stinging criticism aside (to even take time to provide, is energy spent and does show you care) do I personally like Julia Gillard? Yes I do. There’s something special about Julia. People are only as good as the information they are supplied. So far, as a newbie leader of Australia, I admire many cases she’s taken the information provided her and divided facts and outcomes ahead, to try her best to be seen to be fair. She has not had an easy ride so far and I think with Julia that good things lie ahead.

HE WAIATA WAIRUA – CINDY RUAKERE’S E IHOWA – ON THE RADIO

Cindy Ruakere is a Maori diva of Taranaki who sings from her spirit, in the noho-puku traditions of Maori singers. She’s a gem whose in demand worldwide to minister in song.

Here’s her version of E Ihowa, the New Zealand national anthem in Te Reo Rangatira (the language of Chiefs). Nice one Pungarehu! This one going out, for all Maori moms and Kiwi moms of the world. Especially in Christchurch City, who this version of her song was dedicated to on the radio.

Keep singing and lifting the spirits of all. :)

KIKIPOUNAMU – MAORI WORD OF THE DAY – ANIMATED FEATURE FILM IDEA

Creative Thinking – An animated feature film kid’s idea – 2010′s animation entertainment:

According to The Reed Pocket Dictonary of Modern Maori (Maori-English, English Maori), edited by P.M.Ryan the word kikpounamu means katydid.

Nature teaches us, that the katydid is of the tettigoniidae family. In America, they are called katydids. In British English, they are the word for bush-crickets. Many tettigoniids exhibit mimicry and camouflage with shapes and colors, as they move across different colored leaves and foliage.

As a motif, a katydid is perhaps very fitting in the fast moving (global) multi-media age of Facebook and Twitter pics  culture – created at lightning quick moments 24-7.

As I write this from a cricket mad nation (the sport) and a green thinking one too, I think the katydid or kikipounamu or bush-cricket could be successfully turned into an animated feature film idea. Hollywood box office history shows that such themes sell very well for the kids. Perhaps Weta Workshops might like to develop this concept further, or Disney or Dreamworks too.

There’s got to be a kikipounamu animated feature film idea in this word. Surely! :)

HALO BRIDE, KATE MIDDLETON ARRIVES AT WEST MINISTER ABBEY

Wearing a halo crown of Regina and her Sarah Burton sewn bridal gown, Kate Middleton arrives at Westminster Abbey to the words of Psalm 122 sung in a hymn.  Beautiful.

A Singer sewing machine for Christchurch whanau is being shared on this blog today as well to celebrate the journey of a rebuilding effort in this city.

Psalm 122 are the words penned by King David, the Psalmist shepherd poet-king of Israel. Lyrics are as follows in Chinois, English and Te Reo Rangatira of New Zealand (the language of Chiefs). In a way, these timeless poetic words are Kate Middleton’s spiritual train (so to speak), that will outlast a hand sewn garment.

詩 篇 122 (Chinese Union Version (Traditional))

1 I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the LORD.”
2 Our feet are standing
   in your gates, Jerusalem.

3 Jerusalem is built like a city
   that is closely compacted together.
4 That is where the tribes go up—
   the tribes of the LORD—
to praise the name of the LORD
according to the statute given to Israel.
5 There stand the thrones for judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.
7 May there be peace within your walls
   and security within your citadels.”
8 For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
   I will seek your prosperity.

Psalm 122

1He waiata; he pikitanga.

LADY LOUISE WINDSOR WILL BE KATE MIDDLETON’S BRIDES MAID – 12.14.11

LADY LOUISE WINDSOR WILL BE KATE MIDDLETON’S BRIDES MAID – 12.14.11.

THREE ACORNS IN KATE MIDDLETON’S COAT OF ARMS – ENTERING INTO REST

In just a few more sleeps, (six) Kate Middleton of London will ascend the ranks of commoners when she marries Prince William in the UK. Part of this process is for Kate’s family to be awarded their own coat of arms.

People Magazine of the USA obesses about this fact today. Here’s their verbage into what the coat of arms means: “Weddings are always family affairs, and Kate Middleton‘s is no different. With just over a week to go before she marries Prince William, Kate, 29, and her family have been granted a traditional coat of arms, which was unveiled Tuesday.

Three acorns, symbolizing the Middleton children, and a flash of gold to represent Kate’s mother, Carole, are at the heart of the design. But there’s more meaning to the choice of imagery than meets the eye.
In addition to signifying the princess-to-be and her siblings Pippa, 27, and James, 24, the acorns also hark back to the oak trees that grow near Kate’s home in Bucklebury, Berkshire. ” For more go here.

GARY LEWIS AND LADY DAVINA HAVE A ROYAL WEDDING TO ATTEND

Maori lad, Gary Lewis, a member of the British Royal family who is married to Lady Davina daughter of Prince Richard Duke of Gloucester will attend the Royal wedding when he celebrates his cousins-in-laws family wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

the  has been lucky enough to nab an invite to attend the royal wedding, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

TGary 37, is also nicknamed Gazza. He is a cabinet maker and was once a shearer from the Matokitoki Valley of Gisborne. He is a nephew of much loved Maori novelist Witi Ihimaera. Gary once lived with his wife, Davina in Grey Lyn, Auckland for a time after the couple married in 2004.

Grey Lyn is where authentic urban Polynesian culture is created each week in the world.

Garry will celebrate New Zealand’s contingent of wedding guests. He will be joined by Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand and his wife, Lady Susan, and Prime Minister John Key and his wife, Bronagh – formerly of Christchurch, now of Helensville West Auckland.Gary’s Mrs, Lady Davina is 24th in line to the British throne and very down to earth and funny, I hear via the Ministry of Scottish Butler Services (a royal family tradition to enlist Scottish Butlers) of the late Queen Mother. Incidentally, the Queen Mother once had quite the tea schedule throughout her day, when she was alive. Fierce! :)

SOME BENJAMIN NETANYAHU TV VIA JERUSALEM YOUTUBE WEBCASTING – AND MY VIEWS ON THAT

As a Maori-Kiwi who writes from California USA, I am from a nation who respects Israel. We are pro-Israel when Israel is in democratic leadership that is just and displaying good traits of strength firmly grounded in humility.

In fact we are the most pro-American when America is pro-Israel’s spirit of fair democracy too. As a culture, it’s how we’re made and have been fashioned to feel strongly this way. That will never change.

New Zealand has 75 tribes (more as well) of Maori people, all who have deep links to ancestral lands in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Our ancestors are buried in hills, on mountains along our coastlines. Although they are not with us, their bones bear witness of our spirit in the world along those landmarks they lived, saw as their own and are buried. This can or will never change either. It’s who New Zealand is and always has been for centuries. In that regard we are on Israel’s same page. We are a nation in some regards much older than America – although we like to call ourselves young as well.

We understand Israel perhaps more deeply than many other nations because we are in relationship to landscape too, over a capitalistic stand point alone, that often over-values commodifying landscape as an asset sale to the land’s and coastal territories’ spiritual significance to a robust culture and its protection.

Our culture and identity is in the land, just like Israel’s is too. Because we therefore see through similar eyes and we have in New Zealand for centuries as Israel believes they have too, ideologically we have many similarities and shared traits.

Aotearoa New Zealand will always extend our tewhatewha (look this word up) of spiritual protection over Israel and Israel’s people even if we have or do not have a Kiwi leader of Jewish descent at the helm. It is our nation’s mantel of spirit. We possess this richly, Given for a purpose, it cannot be defeated.

Currently we are blessed and fortunate to have a New Zealander of Jewish descent lead us. He is a gift ‘from the ancients’ (to be poetic) and he is a gift from his ancestors to us all, not only in New Zealand but for the gifts contained in his life – to offer stability, wisdom of leadership in the world. We value his families’ culture in our nation. We believe that he (and they all) make us stronger as a people and a democratic nation.

As a good Kiwi then (it must be a rare day for me – to be writing that!), who loves Arab people and who was socialized with Lebanese-Kiwi’s too across six generations of harmonious Kiwi living, Mr Benjamin Netanyahu‘s latest interview, fascinates today here in Hollywood as culturally relevant Kiwi TV. Watch it by pressing play.

Some highlights of the interview are:
