The soundtrack for the Rugby World Cup festivities has begun in an unusual way. Sports festivals favorite Lionel Richie has teamed up with one of the best male vocalists on the planet, Guy Sebastian of Australia to record a new version of Richie’s hit All Night Long. Sebastian was the first ever winner of Australian Idol reality TV Talent show.
The song that has been performed successfully at The Olympic Games in Los Angeles in prior years (1984 -watch video footage below) is being remade with a charitable focus in mind. Richie and Sebastian aim to help raise funds for the earthquake hit City of Christchurch, who lost loved ones in their hour of devastation. Says Richie of the joy of giving to this City:
“I can think of no better use for one of my most successful copyrights than to help raise needed funds for the people of New Zealand. New Zealand has been very good to me over the course of my career and I welcome the opportunity to return the kindness.”
Lionel selected All Night Long for the region of Canterbury, as “it will give people a reason to donate and celebrate the good times ahead instead of just dwelling in the past.” Word.
Richie and Sebastian will perform the song on stage during their current New Zealand tour.
Guy Sebastian, a gracious statesman of Australia in a pop cultural capacity added, “Being offered the tour with Lionel is a real honour but getting to record with him is truly humbling,” Sebastian said.
There is so much good will occurring in the South Pacific right now, it’s amazing to watch. What a good collaborative effort between two fine entertainers for noble-hearted people and for a noble cause.
Above is Guy singing Receba o Poder/ Recieve the Power with Australian-Polynesian R n B vocal princess Paulini, Espanol-singing artist Silva Alemão, Robert Galea (Italiano). Amélia Farrugia (France) in a song that guy and Gary Pinto penned.
Richie and Sebastian’s song has RedOne as producer on it. As we know RedOne is a producer who grew up in Africa with a cross-cultural daily reality and his work involves producing some tracks for Stefani Germanotta of the USA. I’m feeling that We Are The World giving vibe strongly on this one, aren’t you?
Artwork – Holly V. Hoof of Los Angeles to celebrate this moment that is humbling to blog about because goodness, kindness, compassion that is honoring life is being shared freely and willingy in hearts with such a gesture. So powerful.
Fine entertainment producing in action. If you’ve ever taken the time to read the lyrics of Christchurch’s national anthem, this is the “freedom’s ramparts on the sea” part of the anthem being fulfilled in entertainment for Christchurch City. As we know “ramparts” is also a word found in the Star Spangled Banner of the USA as well.
May Love & Peace always be our power shared equally and freely like pure drinking water flowing around the globe amongst people in our common bonds of shared humanity. To love others and be considerate to others is to be royal and warm-hearted. May that always be what we sing about and celebrate with and in our strong communities (the real celebrities of us all)… the most. True power is when we serve others like brothers and sisters into our comos-zealous destinies at the foot of The Tree of Life.

“Prince William and Ms Middleton have chosen charities focusing on issues which matter deeply to them and, in the case of the Christchurch earthquake appeal, a charity which reflects the couple’s close ties to and affection for New Zealand,” Mr John Key, Prime Minister of Aotearoa New Zealand said.
“I believe it’s a mark of great respect for New Zealand that the couple have nominated the Christchurch earthquake appeal as one of those charities.”
Word. For a couple that have everything that’s a very sweet gesture and depicts the warm heartedness of these royal young lovebirds of the Commonwealth collective. Photo via Associated Press and the NZ Herald.
Will is currently in New Zealand for a memorial service for earthquake victims in Christchurch and also the Pike River Coal Mining gas explosion, fossil fuels mining tragedy that occurred in Greymouth. You don’t have to be perfect to help others.–Gerard Butler in Hollywood.
The end of cancer, begins with research–UCLA’s JCCC scientific manifesto.
According to Just Jared, cigarette smoker, Gerard Butler has been quite busy this week. Butler ‘ stepped out for a good cause on Wednesday for the Have a Heart for Children fundraising event, which benefited families of children who are fighting cancer.
Nice one!
Kids fighting cancer are some of these young people. Click on their pics to make a difference if you’d like to. With nuclear reactors being in crises in Japan today and in light of Chernobyl increasing cancer in people affected by such events, Gerards press is very timely this week. Go Scotland.
Today I thought I’d sponsor a Project Angel Food advertisement here in Hollywood. Just because that is achievable with this platform and most of all because I am willing to help others and really want to. Hope you are too. :)
I saw Maggie the homeless lady today (read her story written on my Facebook page)- and I thought – bloody hell! We have so much to be thankful for.
Project Angel Food is a charity of Los Angeles feeding and helping the homeless of Hollywood all year round. Love them!
Watch their video clip below to see the work they do. And, of course, their link is here.
Their modus operandi: “For life, for love, for as long as it takes!” Can’t argue with that mission statement really. How can we be more like that in spirit and actions?
Always true celebrities in my book -they’re freeking awesome. So inspiring in Hollywood! :)

All these people should be on every entertainment bloggers hot list. They’re pretty cool this year in the age of billionaire philanthropists. With that mega-celebrity buzz word forming in the form of this list of people joining a cool club to advocate and act for the needs at hand in the world, what does this mean? Think 1000 Oprahs (plus) eventually. That’s gotta be good for the world.

Go hereand especially HERE to read why. Gratitude is a beatitude. It’s a beautiful trait of generosity of spirit. The beauty of gratitude is that these billionaires appear (quite publicly) to have it, but it is also relative in terms of what you personally have and what you do with it, to make the world a better place. For example you don’t need to be a billionaire to be just like these people, gratitude though is the common bond that links these people to ordinary folk who have the same heart and eyes looking out for the world. These people inspire me this Christmas to be more thankful, grateful and sharing. Let’s flow!

I was looking today at Arianna Huffington of that blog in New York City that is quite extensive in showcasing other peoples brainy thoughts all year round. It’s really entertaining this year observing how Ari has transformed herself into the Christmas Divorcee Santa’s little helper this year of The Big Apple. She just keeps on getting better as a blogger in that uptight Ari way. I like her Christmas a lot this year. Christmas time is a time where many people get divorced. Who knows why? Stress I guess. However I like Ari’s focus, that if you focus on families entirely worse off than your own, it just might help a lot to appreciate the family that you do have. Quite wise really.
Here’s her message, shared for the City of Los Angeles too this Christmas Eve:
Dear People,
“Merry Christmas. I’m back from Chile (Feliz Navidad) and Brazil (Feliz Natal), and celebrating with my daughters and my ex (see HuffPost Divorce) in New York. This year’s It’s A Wonderful Life Award goes to Gregory Schauer, the unemployed man who demonstrated the true Christmas spirit by taking in a homeless woman and her three children for the holidays. Remarkably, when we contacted Greg to tell him about all the people who had written in offering to help him, he told us: “Please let them know that the best thing they can do is pass it on so to speak. Instead of sending me anything, call a shelter, sponsor a family for Christmas, give to the food pantries, spread the spirit of Christmas to as many people as they can.” So, in Greg’s honor, please go to The Goods, our online store featuring goods and services for those in need, and make a purchase in Greg’s name* (My choice was to help pay the rent of a family in need).
*Before adding your selection to your cart, click the box that indicates you want your donation to be a gift, put down Greg Schauer as the recipient, and gregsholidaywish@gmail.com as the recipient’s email. We’ll make sure he gets your message.
Zara Phillips and rugby football player Mark Tindall of the UK are engaged. Hollywood entertainment and celebrity news voted worldwide in our top ten (with bonus posts for the holidays) looks as follows. No. 1 is my favorite today with ‘heroine addict’ rumors having swirled through celebrity circles and in Hollywood the last two days. Ugh! So boring, if you live here. Yet another reminder how important it is perhaps, to be careful with our words. Congrats to the two stars pictured of the second royal wedding on the social calendar of 2011.
In the spirit of sharing, click on these bloggers in between our bonus posts and say hi. Many of them work harder than I do all year round turning on an entertainment show as website writers and or bloggers. Let’s make Christmas happen for these girls and guys too, if we can. My only claim to fame is that by virtue of location living in Hollywood means that what is on Horiwood.Com is seen as being more credible at times then these hardworking people. I think that’s fair as to survive Hollywood–you have to be ten times tougher than bloggers who don’t live here. It’s part of earning your fame cred in the City of Angels, but with it comes a thorough understanding of the ‘unspoken Hollywood rules of fame.’ It really can’t be learned any other way than living here. A tough school I am thankful to almost have graduated from. To everyone whose ever supported me here in seen and many unseen ways that I have felt, thank you so much for making a Maori’s dream that I never once grew up dreaming, but fortuitously fell into by grace of opportunity, come true. :)
For celebrity bloggers who don’t live in Hollywood, know that all opinions aired and shared have validity in a democratic society of equal people, so let’s support such bloggers too, aye if we have the time and feel like it?! Thanks team. Any celebrity blogger who does charity posts and shines a light on the defenseless, the unheard, the misrepresented, the needy, the poor–will always be a star in my book in that moment they turn their light on such people, just like us. Only creative people have this ability to influence others for the good, which is why I’m affirming their energy and efforts today as stars in the world of entertainment. Alright, on with the show then. :)
Bonus Post: Lady Gaga: AND WHY EXACTLY IS THAT HAND THERE? Operation Smile is the organization that helps out peeps born with that cleft palate situation. Click on pic, to make a dif if your smile’s fabulous and want a kid to know the same feeling. Cheers!
