FEEL FREE TO LEARN, ALANIS MORISSETTE SONG LYRICS

Track 2 of a song that the neighbours in my hood are vibing to and blasting on the stereo right now… are these song lyrics:

I recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at any time
Feel free.
Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind)
Hold it up (to the rays)
You wait and see when the smoke clears

You live you learn
You love you learn
You cry you learn
You lose you learn
You bleed you learn

THE IMPERFECT SPY DOCUMENTARY – THE JEFF DELISLE STORY AIRS IN CANADA

Jeff Delisle The Imperfect SpyDocumentary News: In August 2011, Jeff Delisle joined HMCS Trinity, a top secret intelligence facility at the naval dockyard in Halifax, Canada that tracks vessels entering and exiting Canadian waters via satellites, drones and underwater devices.

The centre is a multinational base with access to secret data from NATO countries and the intelligence alliance known as the “Five Eyes,” comprising Canada, the U.S., Britain, Australia and New Zealand. Delisle had full access to the top secret information.

Hugh Williamson, a retired navy lieutenant who worked at Trinity until four years ago, specialized in the same threat assessment role assigned to Delisle.

“He’s got a job that gives him access to a number of systems that have classified information on Canada, on its allies, on military operations, on police operations, on a number of different things…. And since apparently he was downloading large quantities of documents and passing them out to the Russians there would be an awful lot there which would be of considerable interest.”

–CBC Canada takes an audience in to the documentary text about the good guy spy, who crossed a line into espionage with Russia.–The Imperfect Spy airs on Friday. If in Canada it can be viewed on CBC-TV at 9 p.m. (9:30 in Newfoundland and Labrador). Fascinating stuff.

WHAT IS FREEDOM? GERMAN, CANADIAN, US THINKERS OF THE FRASER INSTITUTE’S STUDY – TOWARDS A WORLDWIDE INDEX OF HUMAN FREEDOM

1German, Canadian and American researchers quite fancy New Zealand as a beautiful whenua (land) reports marketwire website, especially in offering an idea of new starts. That being an idea of freedom. Yahoo Finance also ran the story.

Last year, the Cato Institute listed New Zealand as having “high economic freedom” ranking third in the world after Hong Kong and Singapore in the yearly Economic Freedom of The World report. An interesting finding as the average wage in New Zealand is US$36k. Yet New Zealand is perceived as having high financial freedom by Cato.

This year, the Germans and Canadians of The Fraser Institute list why they feel New Zealand has high freedom levels. The Insitute claims to have, “the most complete index of human freedom”  and is Canada’s leading public policy think-tank. It worked with Germany’s Liberales Institut to collate its thoughts. A summary of main points follows:

The authors of the book say the intention was to measure the degree to which people were free to enjoy classic civil liberties-freedom of speech, religion, individual economic choice, and association and assembly-in each country surveyed.

The nations in their study they like as being perceived as free are: New Zealand, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, Ireland, US, Denmark, Japan, Estonia. The UK was listed at 18 and France at 33. (more…)

RYAN NELSEN IS APPOINTED HEAD COACH FOR TORNOTO FC

Ryan Nelsen Toronto FCs Head Coach 2013

Ryan Nelsen has been placed in Toronto. Sports journalist Martin Tasker defined the moment as being a good “spy” for NZ soccer. Lol!

Being able to do the Canada and New Zealand thing for Nelsen will be the best transition perhaps after high profile soccer in the UK.

The Examiner also reported the Toronto FC appointment news. Nelsen 35, is Toronto FC’s eighth coach in its seven years operating as an MLS club. The placement has been described as a “coup.” Congrats.

SHAWN ATLEO’S WORDS CALL FOR GREED TO BE REIGNED IN, IN CANADA

Shawn Atleo Canada

“First Nations across this country have been voicing concern and frustration with a broken system that does not address long-standing disparities between First Nations and the rest of Canada, and address priorities in ways that will provide for long-term solutions and sustainability,” said Shawn Atleo.

“Through the ‘Idle No More’ movement, we have seen a tremendous outpouring of energy, pride and determination by our peoples in recent weeks,” wrote Atleo. “This level of citizen and community engagement is absolutely essential to achieve the change we all want to see in every First Nation — the hard work of re-building our Nations, our governments and protecting our lands, waters and territories.” (more…)
