JOHNNY PESKY OF BOSTON RED SOX BASEBALL ENTERTAINMENT, REMEMBERED 92
Jim Basquil of ESPN Sports remembers Johnny Pesky‘s contribution to baseball, Boston, Boston Red Sox and the USA as an athlete who stirred a nation’s dreams from a baseball diamond. Watch above.
Boston’s Steve Buckley also stopped to remember a baseball great, writing: “It was easy to fool yourself into thinking that Johnny Pesky was Boston-born and bred. But while his beloved wife Ruthie was a gal from Lynn, and while Johnny seemed to know everyone in New England from Sanford, Maine, to Seekonk, the reality is that he was born and raised in Portland, Ore.
Yet he was one of us. Man, was he ever. Johnny died yesterday afternoon. As his longtime friend Tim Samway told me yesterday, “He died peacefully, as I hoped he would.” Until about 10 years ago, he was hitting infield at Fenway Park [map]. He was 92, I guess, though the reality is that it was a long time ago that Johnny shaved a year off his age.” Quite a character of the game.

Ageless in his sense of play, he connected across generations. What a star. RIP.

ESTRANGED NEWS – MARY KENNEDY PASSES AWAY
At the time of writing the two most viewed people in the USA online involves the story of the Kennedy family. When you type the word “estranged” into google, two of the Kennedy’s names appear right beneath the dictionary definition of the world. It’s yet another dark story of the famous American family.
Boston.Com reports: “WASHINGTON — Mary Kennedy, the estranged and troubled former wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was found dead Wednesday at her suburban home north of New York City, her attorney confirmed.
The death was the latest tragic episode for the Kennedy clan, which has been beset with untimely deaths and highly public personal woes in its storied history.
She was the second wife of Robert Kennedy Jr., the son of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, who was assassinated while running for president in 1968. He is also the nephew of President John F. Kennedy, who was gunned down in 1963 in Dallas.
Police responded to a home in a leafy section of South Bedford Road at 1:36 p.m., according to a statement released by the Bedford Police Department. The cause of death was under investigation, and an autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.”
Estranged means: 1: to remove from customary environment or associations. 2: to arouse especially mutual enmity or indifference in where there had formerly been love, affection, or friendliness–Merriam-Webster definition.
1: (of a person) no longer affectionate to someone; alienated. 2: (of a wife or husband) no longer living with their spouse.–wikipedia’s definition.
Always – Love the one you’re with as loneliness in marriage and society is a silent killer.

SAMMY ADAMS WISNER – SUMMERTIME HIP HOP MUSIC
Q. What music are you listening to?
A. I’m not for promoting alcoholism on blogs, especially with youth, or encouraging young people being used by corporations to recommend what brand of beer to drink with what top shelf drink either, still…
Imma listening to young Sammy Adams Wisner with a Summertime hip hop rap rhyme from the USA.
It’s music you’d expect to hear in Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch retail stores in any mall of the USA. Wisner (Sammy Adams) is a political science major and soccer player, as well as doubling as a rapper muzo from Cambridge Massachusetts. Smart kid.
Shareable lyrics I like, are:
Kissed the hand of the new boss All jazzed up, I aint never been to Utah Everything i do i, do i promise imma do it to the best of my ability t'prove it. We on top, so come with us If you gon' roll lift your cup.
The lyrics are strangely very (young) Kiwi, current holders of The Rugby World Cup.
Being on top today – simply means having ‘the green energy’ in your pipeline.

DROPKICK MURPHY’S: WHEN BOSTON PUNK SHIPS IT LIKE WOODY GUTHRIE
Chad Swiatecki writes in Austin’s American Statesmen a story of what happened when ’Boston punk goes Guthrie.’ Punk band The Dropkick Murphys biggest hit to date is their song penned from Woody Guthrie penned lyrics called Shipping Up To Boston. Kenny, the band’s base player also grabbed these lines off napkin: ‘I’m a sailor peg, and I lost my leg. Climbing up the topsails I lost my leg.’ That became the song.
Being a punk band The Dropkick Murphys never gave a flying thistle about chalking up number one hits. Then Martin Scorcese‘s film “The Departed” happened. Their Guthrie cover somehow made the film’s soundtrack and Murphy’s band member Al Barr says “It was really nice for Mr. Scorcese to make a cool video for our song.”
Seriously though after the song’s gone platinum, TDMs are bringing the celtic rugged punk back to the American hood. If you’re in Boston – you’re in for a right treat. Dropkick Murphys play with Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls, The Mahones, this Wed 8pm @ Emo’s East, 2015 E. Riverside Drive. More @ www. emosaustin.com.

NBC TAPS VERIFONE FOR TAXI AD SURGE MARKETS IN MAIN US CITY CENTERS
According to Nikki Finke‘s website, the eye-gates of taxi passengers are about to get more busy:
“NBC Rides The Taxi TV Ad Surge By Striking Multi-City Deal With VeriFone
The battle by TV stations to grab the attention of taxi passengers just became more interesting — or irksome, depending on your point of view. NBC says today that its stations will pump infotainment and ads to passengers in more than 12,000 cabs — including 6,800 in New York — as well as thousands of gas stations in what it calls “a significant long-term strategic and advertising sales agreement” with electronic payment company VeriFone Systems. NBC used to have a similar taxi deal with Creative Mobile Technologies; early this month that company allied with ABC to serve 10,000 cabs. NBC and VeriFone’s screens will offer news, sports, and weather updates as well as other features culled from NBC’s primetime and late night shows, cable channels, and Universal Pictures. They’ll reach taxi riders in Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Miami as well as the Big Apple. At some point, the companies say, they’ll make it possible for people to download the content to their smartphones. But the deal is mostly about ad sales, and here’s where the plans begin to seem Orwellian. Read More »

PUCK NEWS – AFTER ZDENO CHARA’S VIOLENT HIT ON MAX PACIORETTY ON HOCKEY’S ICE – ESCALATING VIOLENCE IS A CONCERN
According to The Toronto Sun via OTTAWA – ‘MPs are warning the National Hockey League if officials won’t take escalating violence on the ice seriously, they might take matters into their own hands. MPs, like many Canadian hockey fans, were shocked Wednesday when the NHL took no action against the Boston Bruins or defenceman Zdeno Chara after a vicious hit on Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty.
Alright, we need to curb the ‘escalating violence trend’ in the world.
This week we’ve had rebels in Libya, being applauded for violence against an archaic rule of oil wealth collection over their human rights of the majority.
Then we had a guy and a girl scrap it out over a parking meter spot dispute in New York. Sadly, the girl ended up in a coma as a result of violence. That’s more shocking than this hockey story!
Now with hockey, a sport known for being a little bit rough, also sighting escalating violence as a trend on ice, what can we do to take the pressure down in the world?
Perhaps compulsory vacations are in order for all? That’s my remedy. What’s yours?
Anyway, the news has made Air Canada, Air Canada, Air Canada, the no.1 topic in the USA online in this second.

MARTHA STEWART IS STILL ONE SWEET COOKIE ON GOOD HOUSEKEEPING FOR BLIZZARD BLITZED EAST COASTERS THIS CHALLENGING HOLIDAY SEASON
Since the Twilight Saga hit Hollywood hard, no one quite expected that twenty-somethings playing teenagers would rearrange the celebrity star system rankings of entertainment as much as they have. The film franchises central three stars have made a clean sweep of Hollywood’s A-Listed movie celebrity rankings. For example Kristen Stewart is the now the number 1 ranked female actress on the IMDB website of Hollywood’s Top 25 stars of 2010. Since her arrival no one’s paid all that much attention to Martha Stewart. Poor Martha.
Well, that was until the festive season when people worked out Kristen probably lived on hotel room service meals and perhaps had forgotten how to cook a prime rib roast or; heaven forbid, those American staples of cupcakes or cookies either. Suddenly, Martha Stewart found herself back on the cover of Good Housekeeping to share along with her two sweet toothed buddies, good ole’ Bobby and Ina her best sweet cookies recipes. Their hard work is featured in Martha’s kitchen mogulesque hands, positioned just above the rather funny tagline: : ‘Eat, drink & still shrink! Party treats that don’t make you fat.’ I don’t see no sushi in Martha’s hands, but okay then.
When cooking, I tend to go more savory then sweet. You can always buy sweet from better bakers than oneself. So, Good Housekeeping’s mac n’ cheese recipe isn’t bad this year. The recipe makes a batch of good comfort food for everyone snowed under on the East Coast right now. If that’s you, then this one’s for you. It may be a little freezing, but you can be very thankful you’re not caught in an earthquake like a bunch of my enduring buddies are, some place else. They don’t even need a mixer to whisk together Martha’s cookie recipes. They just sit their baking bowl on the kitchen bench and nature scarily whips Martha’s recipe together for them.

Canceled flights are displayed on a monitor at Reagan National Airport. Robin and Sammy, two Sicilian burros living outside Richmond, Va., are ready for their close-up as the storm crosses the area.
Alright, Martha is back on Te Radar.
