One proud Oakland sister writes of her Auckland filmmaker sister’s achievements in Berlin:
“Have you ever watched someone become famous in a day…in 90 minutes? The fascinating thing about being with my sister Pietra and her film Maori Boy Genius at the Berlin Film Festival is seeing the first, but sure, rays of fame, shine on her and 17-year-old Ngaa, the subject of her documentary.
|Ngaa, me and Pietra|
Pietra’s film follows 18 months in the life of Ngaa who was chosen at birth to lead his people” …at a time when young Maori men are over-represented in the number of education statistics that don’t always spell scholastic success; as well as a high amount of arrests and incarcerations.” For more, jet here.
In case you missed it: Maori Boy Genius gets shout out in Wall Street Journal
In New Zealand we are proud of every Maori boy’s potential. With the right developmental tools, this potential is limitless.
Go Pietra, go Ngaa! go Maori at and from Yale University.

Being well connected, Reeves documentary features talent like George Lucas, Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, Team Wachowski, George Lucas, James Cameron and Steven Soderbergh.
