THE 32HR AUSSIE WORKING WEEK – SHOWS WATER + HOPS TIME HAVE TAKEN OVER
Australians only work 32 hours a week. What they’re saying is: pub time matters. What else can that mean?!
Anyway… cheers to that then. Lazy ochres. :)
the truth is: companies are cutting costs (part time staff means no long term additional employment incentives are being paid). Two Aussie Banks also predict Australian unemployment to be on the rise.
the trend shows: “Australians are living the good life rather than working hard is instead a reflection of a longer trend away from full-time towards part-time work, more flexible working hours, and the increasing casualisation of the work force.”
– smh.

EUROPEANS ARE THE MOST WANNABE AUSSIES EVER 2013
The Australian citizenship tests sorts out the wannabe Aussies in the new pack of immigrants to the red southland.
Adelaide’s The Advertiser looked at who the most wannabe Australians are as per their grading results in the citizenship test. Sweden, The Netherlands, Finland, France and Switzerland all wanted to be Australians the most, achieving on average 97% in their tests.
Kiwis who last year were voted by all Australians as being their most preferred immigrants in the world as “Kiwis just get it,” and the most compatable to the Aussies according to the Aussies in a survey of 2012, apparently aren’t all that kosher in swotting for Aussie-set tests. NZers on average only scored 72.6% in the test. (more…)

JULIA GILLARD 10th MOST VOTED STAR 2012
7 years ago when I lived in the USA, Julia Gillard, the Welsh born Australian Prime Minister didn’t even register in a New Zealander’s consciousness.
In the USA Julia Gillard as Australia’s leader rose to fame at the same time Julian Assange did in the US news. They were the two Australians of the year in American media presence.
At 2012 her stand against sexism and mysogeny has made Gillard a global icon for women’s rights. She also now has 1 in 5 of all Maori people of the world living within her nation’s borders. She is their leader now. Riding a mining boom Gillard pays women $20k more each year on average than NZ does. Wow! 7 years ago, that wasn’t the case. It now is. Who would have thought?
Congratulations Australia and Ms. Gillard.

GQ‘s Wayne Gross writes: Think Indiana Jones and Dallas, a cowboy is never complete without the perfect cowboy hat – see Akubra for one. Don’t be afraid to wear a denim shirt with denim jeans, just be sure to break up the ensemble with a classic chocolate leather belt. Don’t shy away from an expensive pair of jeans. They’ll last you longer, and certainly look the part. Boots are made for walking – and in this case complete any cowboy look. Lighter styles in shades of caramel and cream contrast well with darker denim. Hold up your denim with a good quality leather belt with an oval buckle.

CHRIS HEMSWORTH SIGNS WITH CAA TALENT AGENCY & IS FILMING IN LANDMANNALAUGAR ICELAND
Young Aussie actor, Chris Hemsworth‘s American fan base are online in full force today.
Good to see Aussies doing well as entertainers in the USA.
Chris‘ latest news:
CASTING TALENT AGENCY & AGENT SHAKE UPS: Nikki Finke‘s Hollywood website writes: “Chris Hemsworth is proving to be a go-to young guy for big ticket Hollywood fare. Particularly after Marvel’s Thor and The Avengers and also Universal’s Snow White And The Huntsman.
Chris is starring in Thor 2 and will lead DreamWorks/Fox’s Steven Spielberg-directed Robopocalypse and receive $10 million from CBS Films to play a terrorist hunter in American Assassin. So which agency will represent Hollywood’s hottest new action hunk is big news. I can now tell you it is CAA with Jack Wigham and Bryan Lourd.”
ON LOCATION IN ICELAND: Chris has landed in Iceland to film the Thor sequel movie. Scenes for the sequel, Thor: The Dark World will use Iceland’s stunning backdrops to add the film’s ancient Nordic world feel.
According to visir.is, shooting will take place in Dómadalur valley by geothermal area Landmannalaugar in the south-central highlands.
Ruv.is adds that Skógafoss waterfall, Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon and Skeiðarársandur plains will also serve as locations for the movie.
Iceland Review notes how up to 300 people will come from the U.S. to work on the shooting in addition to the almost 200 Icelanders who will also be involved in the project. The film crew is serviced by Icelandic film production company True North. It is the most significant film project to ever happen in Iceland so far.
Sounds good. So busy.
