About The Book 2052: Forty years ago, The Limits to Growth study addressed the grand question of how humans would adapt to the physical limitations of planet Earth. It predicted that during the first half of the 21st century the ongoing growth in the human ecological footprint would stop-either through catastrophic “overshoot and collapse”-or through well-managed “peak and decline.”

So, where are we now? And what does our future look like? In the book 2052, Jorgen Randers, one of the co-authors of Limits to Growth, issues a progress report and makes a forecast for the next forty years. To do this, he asked dozens of experts to weigh in with their best predictions on how our economies, energy supplies, natural resources, climate, food, fisheries, militaries, political divisions, cities, psyches, and more will take shape in the coming decades. He then synthesized those scenarios into a global forecast of life as we will most likely know it in the years ahead.

The good news: we will see impressive advances in resource efficiency, and an increasing focus on human well-being rather than on per capita income growth. But this change might not come as we expect. Future growth in population and GDP, for instance, will be constrained in surprising ways-by rapid fertility decline as result of increased urbanization, productivity decline as a result of social unrest, and continuing poverty among the poorest 2 billion world citizens. Runaway global warming, too, is likely.

So, how do we prepare for the years ahead? With heart, fact, and wisdom, Randers guides us along a realistic path into the future and discusses what readers can do to ensure a better life for themselves and their children during the increasing turmoil of the next forty years.

TERRY MORAN ON AIR FRANCE FLIGHT 447 CRASH FINDINGS & GLOBAL AVIATION TOTALS WORLDWIDE

Hindsight is a something we can learn from. Here’s ABC’s Terry Moran on why Air France Flight 447′s crash could have been averted.

ABC reports: “The Air France Flight 447 crash, considered one of the worst aviation disasters in history, could have been avoided, a top-ranking aviation safety expert said.

“Absolutely, this accident didn’t have to happen,” said William Voss, the president and CEO of the Flight Safety Foundation.

BEA, the French government’s official accident investigators, conducted a three-year investigation into the crash, which killed all 228 people on board, including one married couple from Louisiana, when the Airbus A330 slammed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Brazil in 2009.”

Again, hindsight is such a good teacher for the wider industry of pilots. What about: Air Greece, Air Spain and Air Italia?

The findings:”According to the report, a speed sensor on board the plane, called a pitot tube, stopped functioning after becoming clogged with ice at high-altitude while the plane was flying through a thunderstorm. This caused the auto-pilot to disengage and shift the controls back to the pilots. While flying in heavy turbulence, the pilots failed to properly diagnose the severity of the problem because the pitot tube, a critical piece of equipment to the aircraft, was sending inaccurate data to the cockpit, the report said. The pilots put the plane into a devastating stall and it fell rapidly from the sky, before pancake-ing into the ocean.”

More from Moran at: ABC.

In airlines news too: CNN gives this take on whose flying what where and how in the Up in the air: $140 Billion Industry by numbers report.

Incidentally, Saudi Arabia has the biggest airport – the same area as New York City. With Atlantic’s airport being ultra busy on Christmas, Thanksgiving and major holidays.

KERI HILSON WILL PERFORM AT WRESTLEMANIA XXVII IN ATLANTA

This week we learned that Atlanta, Georgia has and is experiencing a massive migration of African-Americans heading south from cities like New York and the Mid-West. Economically, America is undergoing State-wide ‘populations engineering’ in such an economic climate. This is what we are witnessing in America occur.

In unrelated news, Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum recording artist Keri Hilson will perform “America the Beautiful” kicking-off WrestleMania XXVII live on pay-per-view Sunday, April 3 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

THE GREAT SOUTH MIGRATION – BLACK PEOPLE MOVE SOUTH

The New York Times notes how many African-Americans are moving South for a better quality of life.

Here’s that view in the far left of G.E’s tax day billions and Libya/ NATO news stories.

The migration South of African-American peeps is like Toni Morrison‘s novel in reverse gear.

Writes Sabrina Tavernese and Robert Gebeloff: “Both Michigan and Illinois, whose cities have rich black cultural traditions, showed an overall loss of blacks for the first time, said William Frey, the chief demographer at the Brookings Institution.

And Atlanta, for the first time, has replaced Chicago as the metro area with the largest number of African-Americans after New York. About 17 percent of blacks who moved to the South in the past decade left New York State, far more than from any other state, the census data show.

At the same time, blacks have begun leaving cities for more affluent suburbs in large numbers, much like generations of whites before them.

“The notion of the North and its cities as the promised land has been a powerful part of African-American life, culture and history, and now it all seems to be passing by,” said Clement Price, a professor of history at Rutgers-Newark. “The black urban experience has essentially lost its appeal with blacks in America.””

Quite exciting really! Trading in cement for green grass. Not a bad idea at all.

DERRICK ROSE UNLEASHES THE BULL AT THE HOOP TO CRUSH ATLANTA HAWKS

[Photo caption - Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose (1) scores as Atlanta Hawks power forward Josh Smith (5) defends in the second quarter of an NBA basketball game, Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Atlanta.]

Two basketball hooping peeps on twitter like the basketball flow of Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose scored 30 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 114-81 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

Their sentiments follow:

9thWonderMusic‎ Derrick Rose is COOKING the NBA on a FOREMAN GRILL.

1stuartscott‎ My man mike Wilbon & I had a convo..u CAN’T “NOT” like Derrick rose. His game. Work ethic. Heart. Humility. Drive. Courage. ALL top notch.

Nick Friedell of ESPN writes – “ATLANTA – Derrick Rose never forgets the bad things that happen to him on a basketball court. It gives him the drive to be successful day in and day out.

“He remembers every misstep, every wrong decision and every game that didn’t go his way. He wants to prove to any person that may have doubted him, or the way his team would bounce back in the face of adversity wrong. Plain and simple: Derrick Rose wants to beat you. EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT. And if some reason he doesn’t, and the other team gets the best of him or his team, watch out. The next time he sees that team, he’ll be sure to get the job done.”

In addition, Rose says – “We knew that after that game we all felt bad,” the 22-year-old point guard said of the March 2 affair in which the Bulls struggled down the stretch. “You don’t want that feeling anymore. It hurts. And one of the reasons why we lost that game is definitely because of me. Turnovers, bad decisions, everything, it was because of me. And I just tried to stay focused. My teammates did a great job of getting open and I was finding them and they were hitting shots they normally hit.”

Learning from experience, getting the game better is what it’s all about. As Rose shows, he can deliver at the hoop.
