RUGBY NEWS – COUNTIES-MANUKAU 41. OTAGO 16.
Good News for Counties-Manukau: Counties-Manukau have secured promotion to the NPC Premiership, after beating Otago 41-16 in the Championship final.–More@Stuff.
Good News for Otago: After doing it rough, the club says they’re in the green with the books back in order.
Martin Legge‘s comments have sting, claiming Otago fleeced South Auckland. He also believes an “audit failed to join the dots, and was a complete whitewash”.
Moving forward: How will AIG impact the game now in both Counties-Manukau and Otago? What corporate companies can help build both sides with economic planning, investment, bolstering in both clubs and regions? As rugby’s about ticket sales and sponsorship to work – what cultural icons, symbols, fans culture, are each teach team developing and designing for fans to support and enter into being a supporter of the side more. There’s a entire scope to build in that area maybe to take both sides up to the next level that reflects regional identity in 2013 and beyond. Heaps of room for creative minds to work on it. Then if brand generating levels are too low you can zap them up to super sunray status asap – really well – through doing a culture build and a brand build too. Create the container of the business culture that is the vehicle the fans fuel, then watch them fill it up.
Scoreboard: Counties Manukau 41 (Pulu 2, Selwyn, Nanai-Williams tries; Kerr 2 pens, 5 cons). Otago 16 (Thompson try; Dickson 3 pens, con). HT: 20-13

All the best.
I just think it’s fantastic that rugby gets people from the far north to the deep south to compete in sports. Not to be taken from granted. Such a unifying regional invention, sport is. Especially rugby in NZ. Nice one.
