NZ POLITICS – JOHN KEY & DAVID SHEARER ON SPY MIX TAPES

In NZ pollitics were are still doing ispy scandalize, government sticky beak stories.

Whatevz.

NZ’s PM John Key said to Labour opposition party leader, “put up, or shut up,” if Mr Shearer doesn’t produce a spy mix tape soon.

Audrey Young notes: “Mr Key said Mr Shearer accused the GCSB of engaging in “Watergate-type activity” by suggesting it had deleted a recording of a speech Mr Key gave on February 29.”

Parliament also heard Mr Key say “there was no video, never had been a video and, moreover, no videos had been deleted from the GCSB’s [goverment agencies] files.”

John Armstrong humorously noted: “Shearer responded to good effect by cleverly lampooning Key and listing the latter’s vague answers of recent weeks on the GCSB’s involvement in the Dotcom case – “I don’t remember”, “I don’t know”, “Um, you know, who knows?” and “I don’t remember cracking a joke about that one, because I crack jokes all the time”.

So pretty much a draw – and not an especially enlightening one either.”–NZH.

Young notes: “Outside the House, Mr Key said Mr Shearer had “besmirched the integrity of the head of the GCSB”.

Well, there you have it.

besmirch means: 1. to make dirty; soil. 2. to reduce the brightness or lustre of. 3. to sully.

Very spy ag exports talk, just with Wellingtons.
