CROSS-CULTURAL EXCHANGES OF KAUPAPA DRIVEN DIALOGUE FOR EDIPLOMACISTS IN NZ’S ROSS SEAS TERRAINS ARE AHEAD
Before Hillary Clinton was ever a twinkle, before the word ediplomacy was ever formed, New Zealanders always had manners in our Ross seas and South Pacific territories. We call it kaupapa. It is embedded in tikanga philosophy. It is still the longest standing cultural lore of New Zealand. When it is tricked, cheated, super-imposed upon, the environment reacts. So, it was sovereignly gifted to New Zealand by our founding fathers and mothers vision, to protect our region. All trade deals and forms of communication should consider and align within this cultural frame work, before any designs within our territories can be considered a good match for NZ’s trading capabilities as life-giving providers for the world. Our nation’s true essence and spirit as a diverse people, who are cross-cultural and are one.
So that drivers of ediplpmacy rhetoric and discourse invention (and invested interests in this rhetoric) know up front (and are not misguided), Kaupapa forms a key aspect of our kawa, our sovereignty and our ability to define communications that are authentic to New Zealand and our South Pacific friends, cousins, allies we are also bonded too in spirit as neighbors and genuine friendships that are longstanding through time together on the block in our unique and fortuitious part of the world. It gives us the ability to teach and train, all other cultures wishing to intearact with New Zealand, how New Zealanders like to communicate and how our human resources and natural resources should be regarded by foreign investors, traders guests. We conserve, more than we destroy, as a rule. Sustainability prosperity is the nature of Kaupapa and tikanga. Americans need to learn our culture. Sit in a school room and see what our kaupapa is all about. It’s important to learn it as the terms of engagement to avoid acts of terrorism against the environment and New Zealand citizens through a super-imposition of a pseudo culture, enforced by a desire to impose irrelevant systems of law, upon a sovereign people in order to control or attempt to affect culture, or influence resources flows in acts of thievary that we do not tolerate or abibe in our unique part of the world. I am sure Americans and global allies do not want to be involved in such acts of terrorism upon New Zealand’s people or terrains and territories we are guardians and stewards of for our children’s children, therefore Kaupapa and Tikanga is what PPP agreements and all trade agreements with New Zealand, need to be grasped and learned clearly by traders and ediplomacy proponents alike. It helps us see eye-to-eye as mature trading partners, allies and true friends, not fake ones.
It’s exciting America is showing interest to want to communicate to NZ more, thus the US shows a desire to be a pupil and to learn respectfully, how we like to communicate in our part of the world. Like American culture teaches, New Zealand too has a cue system, where our kaupapa knowledge is the lens and framework to attain, learn, understand in order to be considered a friend or a suitable trading partner of significance. Once American’s relax and are are prepared to learn in this considered cultural context, then an understanding will occur, that’s not about control, or super-imposition but a form of trusted communication and trading dialogue that is about real communication. Awesome! Real dialogue.
Good years are ahead in this dialogue of cultures then. “Ediplomacy freaks” are going to be so much more better for the learning lessons learnt and exchanged between two sovereign, distinct and respectful cultures. Kaupapa is about ‘how do we save you from you?’ and then we all win, long term. The world’s environment has indicated this is the approach to take in order for future generations of New Zealanders and friends and allies to have a better future of survival, on this earth we all share. It’s about earth romance dialogue and what that vibe looks like, with good air quality forming a key factor of our sense of true security and peace as people and kaitiaki of the world. As it is also a pathway of wisdom, thus it is also very exciting too. Peace! :)
