YOUNG NANCY GUARNEROS GETS HER AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP
President Obama discusses his order to end the risk of deportation for many young illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. when they were children. The move to pardon 800,000 immigrants has critics saying:
“By calling a halt to the deportation of hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants, President Obama not only helps himself politically with two groups vital to his reelection — Latinos and young people — but also shows the advantage that comes with a seat in the Oval Office.”
More with Mark Z Barabak of the Los Angeles Times.
For young people who are exploited by others because they do not hold US citizenship, or a green card, this is a very humane decision.
These kids move from being unsafe into a ‘safer position’ in society. Oh happy day!
